ਐਸੀ ਢੀਠ ਨਾਰਿ ਤੇ ਡਰਿਯੈ ॥੨੨॥

ਹੋ ਕਰੈ ਦੇਹ ਕੋ ਘਾਤ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਕ︀ਯਾ ਪਾਇਯੈ ॥੨੩॥

‘One should not go near such a woman, as one could lose one’s life.’(23)

‘Plenty of Chritars are there in females; no one can perceive them.
ਜੋ ਬਾਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੨੫॥
jo baachhai soee karai jo chaahai so hoe |25|
‘They do whatever they like; all transpires the way they wish.(25)
ਪਿਯਹਿ ਉਬਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੁਪਕ ਕੇ ਠੌਰ ॥
piyeh ubaaraa har hanaa ek tupak ke tthauar |
‘She saved her favourite by killing the lion with one stroke.
ਤਾ ਕੌ ਛਲਿ ਪਲ ਮੈ ਗਈ ਭਈ ਔਰ ਕੀ ਔਰ ॥੨੬॥
taa kau chhal pal mai gee bhee aauar kee aauar |26|
‘The ladies attain variable characteristic within a few moments.’(26)
ਜਹਾਗੀਰ ਪਤਿਸਾਹ ਤਬ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭਯਾ ਉਦਾਸ ॥
jahaageer patisaah tab man mai bhayaa udaas |
Emperor Jehangir became gloomy in his mind,
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਸੋ ਬਾਤੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਭਯਾ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥੨੭॥
taa sang so baatain sadaa ddar te bhayaa niraas |27|
And, then on, always remained cautious of women.(27)(1)

ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

Lot of people used to come to her house, and every day she made love with them.
ਸੋ ਜੜ ਪਰਾ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਰਹਈ ॥
so jarr paraa hamaare rahee |

ਯੌ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥

Whenever he came back home, his wife would pronounce,
ਯਾ ਕਹ ਕਲਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
yaa keh kal kee baat na laagee |
ਮੇਰੋ ਪਿਯਾ ਬਡੋ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੩॥
mero piyaa baddo baddabhaagee |3|
‘He is not induced by the modern-day influences, as he has been endowed with noble destiny.’(3)

Every day she chanted same words that he was a saintly figure.
ਮੋ ਪਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਲਗੀ ਨ ਕਲਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਉ ॥੪॥
mo pat gur ko bhagat hai lagee na kal kee baau |4|
And he was true disciple of the Guru, and had not been effected by the contemporaries.( 4)

ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥

My incense and lamps are my service to the Lord.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਬੰਦਨ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
anik baar bandan karataar |
Time and time again, I humbly bow to the Creator.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥
prabh kee saran gahee sabh tiaag |
I have renounced everything, and grasped the Sanctuary of God.
ਗੁਰ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ॥੧॥
gur suprasan bhe vaddabhaag |1|
By great good fortune, the Guru has become pleased and satisfied with me. ||1||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗਾਈਐ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥
aatth pehar gaaeeai gobind |
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing of the Lord of the Universe.
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan dhan prabh kaa prabh kee jind |1| rahaau |
My body and wealth belong to God; my soul belongs to God. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਤ ਭਏ ਆਨੰਦ ॥
har gun ramat bhe aanand |
Chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I am in bliss.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਖਸੰਦ ॥
paarabraham pooran bakhasand |
The Supreme Lord God is the Perfect Forgiver.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
kar kirapaa jan sevaa laae |
Granting His Mercy, He has linked His humble servants to His service.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
janam maran dukh mett milaae |2|
He has rid me of the pains of birth and death, and merged me with Himself. ||2||
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
karam dharam ihu tat giaan |
This is the essence of karma, righteous conduct and spiritual wisdom,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
saadhasang japeeai har naam |
to chant the Lord's Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰਿ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਣ ॥
saagar tar bohith prabh charan |
God's Feet are the boat to cross over the world-ocean.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣ ॥੩॥
antarajaamee prabh kaaran karan |3|
God, the Inner-knower, is the Cause of causes. ||3||
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
raakh lee apanee kirapaa dhaar |
Showering His Mercy, He Himself has saved me.
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਭਾਗੇ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥
panch doot bhaage bikaraal |
The five hideous demons have run away.
ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
jooai janam na kabahoo haar |
Do not lose your life in the gamble.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੪॥

ਬਾਲਕ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਿ ॥

The Divine Guru has saved His child.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦ ॥
prabh kirapaal deaal goubind |
God is kind and compassionate; He is the Lord of the Universe.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥੧॥
jeea jant sagale bakhasind |1|
He forgives all beings and creatures. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
teree saran prabh deen deaal |
I seek Your Sanctuary, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਪਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Meditating on the Supreme Lord God, I am forever in ecstasy. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੂਸਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

There is no other like the Merciful Lord God.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar sarab samaahee |
He is contained deep within each and every heart.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥
apane daas kaa halat palat savaarai |
He embellishes His slave, here and hereafter.
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੈ ॥੨॥
patit paavan prabh birad tumaarai |2|
It is Your nature, God, to purify sinners. ||2||
ਅਉਖਧ ਕੋਟਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
aaukhadh kott simar gobind |
Meditation on the Lord of the Universe is the medicine to cure millions of illnesses.
ਤੰਤੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਭਜੀਐ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
tant mant bhajeeai bhagavant |
My Tantra and Mantra is to meditate, to vibrate upon the Lord God.
ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਮਿਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
rog sog mitte prabh dhiaae |
Illnesses and pains are dispelled, meditating on God.
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
man baanchhat pooran fal paae |3|
The fruits of the mind's desires are fulfilled. ||3||
ਕਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਮਰਥ ਦਇਆਰ ॥
karan kaaran samarath deaar |
He is the Cause of causes, the All-powerful Merciful Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮਹਾ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
sarab nidhaan mahaa beechaar |
Contemplating Him is the greatest of all treasures.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
naanak bakhas lee prabh aap |
God Himself has forgiven Nanak;
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਏਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੫॥
sadaa sadaa eko har jaap |4|13|15|
forever and ever, he chants the Name of the One Lord. ||4||13||15||

Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my friend.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮੑਾਰਾ ਚੀਤ ॥
niramal hoe tumaaraa cheet |
Your consciousness shall become immaculate and pure.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਮਿਟੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥
man tan kee sabh mittai balaae |
All the misfortunes of your mind and body shall be taken away,
ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਸਗਲਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
dookh andheraa sagalaa jaae |1|
and all your pain and darkness will be dispelled. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਤਰੀਐ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
har gun gaavat tareeai sansaar |
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, cross over the world-ocean.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaddabhaagee paaeeai purakh apaar |1| rahaau |
By great good fortune, one attains the Infinite Lord, the Primal Being. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
jo jan karai keeratan gopaal |
The Messenger of Death cannot even touch that humble being,
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥
tis kau pohi na sakai jamakaal |
Who sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
jag meh aaeaa so paravaan |
The Gurmukh realizes his Lord and Master;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
guramukh apanaa khasam pachhaan |2|
His coming into this world is approved. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
har gun gaavai sant prasaad |
He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, by the Grace of the Saints;
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਉਨਮਾਦ ॥
kaam krodh mitteh unamaad |
his sexual desire, anger and madness are eradicated.
ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਜਾਣੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
sadaa hajoor jaan bhagavant |
He knows the Lord God to be ever-present.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਮੰਤ ॥੩॥
poore gur kaa pooran mant |3|
This is the Perfect Teaching of the Perfect Guru. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
har dhan khaatt kee bhanddaar |
He earns the treasure of the Lord's wealth.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰ ॥
mil satigur sabh kaaj savaar |
Meeting with the True Guru, all his affairs are resolved.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਗਾ ॥
har ke naam rang sang jaagaa |
He is awake and aware in the Love of the Lord's Name;
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੧੬॥
har charanee naanak man laagaa |4|14|16|
O Nanak, his mind is attached to the Lord's Feet. ||4||14||16||
