ਜੋ ਤਉ ਕੀਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਓਹਿ ॥

O Lord, You meet and merge with those whom you have made Your Own.
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਮੋਹਿਓਹੁ ਜਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣਿਓਹਿ ॥੧॥

You Yourself are entranced, O Nanak, hearing Your Own Praises. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਰੀਝਾਇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥

Administering the intoxicating drug of love, I have won over the Lord of the Universe; I have fascinated His Mind.
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਕੰਠੇ ਲਗਿ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
santan kai parasaad agaadh kantthe lag sohiaa jeeo |
By the Grace of the Saints, I am held in the loving embrace of the Unfathomable Lord, and I am entranced.
ਹਰਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਗਿ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਦੋਖ ਸਭਿ ਜੋਹਿਆ ਭਗਤਿ ਲਖੵਣ ਕਰਿ ਵਸਿ ਭਏ ॥
har kantth lag sohiaa dokh sabh johiaa bhagat lakhayan kar vas bhe |
Held in the Lord's loving embrace, I look beautiful, and all my pains have been dispelled. By the loving worship of His devotees, the Lord has come under their power.
ਮਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਵੁਠੇ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਤੁਠੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣਾ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ॥
man sarab sukh vutthe govid tutthe janam maranaa sabh mitt ge |
All pleasures have come to dwell in the mind; the Lord of the Universe is pleased and appeased. Birth and death have been totally eliminated.
ਸਖੀ ਮੰਗਲੋ ਗਾਇਆ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਇਆ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਹਿਆ ॥
sakhee mangalo gaaeaa ichh pujaaeaa bahurr na maaeaa hohiaa |
O my companions, sing the Songs of Joy. My desires have been fulfilled, and I shall never again be trapped or shaken by Maya.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੋਹਿਆ ॥੪॥
kar geh leene naanak prabh piaare sansaar saagar nahee pohiaa |4|
Taking hold of my hand, O Nanak, my Beloved God will not let me be swallowed up by the world-ocean. ||4||

The Master's Name is Priceless; no one knows its value.
ਜਿਨਾ ਭਾਗ ਮਥਾਹਿ ਸੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਦੋ ॥੧॥
jinaa bhaag mathaeh se naanak har rang maanado |1|
Those who have good destiny recorded upon their foreheads, O Nanak, enjoy the Love of the Lord. ||1||

ਕਹਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਣਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਧੰਨੁ ਲਿਖਤਂੀ ਕੁਲੁ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
kahate pavitr sunate sabh dhan likhatanee kul taariaa jeeo |
Those who chant are sanctified. All those who listen are blessed, and those who write save their ancestors.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਤਿਨੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
jin kau saadhoo sang naam har rang tinee braham beechaariaa jeeo |
Those who join the Saadh Sangat are imbued with the Lord's Love; they reflect and meditate on God.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
braham beechaariaa janam savaariaa pooran kirapaa prabh karee |
Contemplating God, their lives are reformed and redeemed; God has showered His Perfect Mercy upon them.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੋ ਦੀਨੇ ਜੋਨਿ ਨਾ ਧਾਵੈ ਨਹ ਮਰੀ ॥
kar geh leene har jaso deene jon naa dhaavai neh maree |
Taking them by the hand, the Lord has blessed them with His Praises. They no longer have to wander in reincarnation, and they never have to die.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਭੇਟਤ ਹਰੇ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
satigur deaal kirapaal bhettat hare kaam krodh lobh maariaa |
Through the Kind and Compassionate True Guru, I have met the Lord; I have conquered sexual desire, anger and greed.
ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਅਕਥੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਕੈ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੫॥੧॥੩॥

Our Indescribable Lord and Master cannot be described. Nanak is devoted, forever a sacrifice to Him. ||5||1||3||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har utam naam hai jin siriaa sabh koe jeeo |
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is Excellent and Sublime. He created everyone.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਅ ਸਭੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
har jeea sabhe pratipaaladaa ghatt ghatt rameea soe |
The Lord cherishes all beings. He permeates each and every heart.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
so har sadaa dhiaaeeai tis bin avar na koe |
Meditate forever on that Lord. Without Him, there is no other at all.
ਜੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦੇ ਸੇ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਰੋਇ ॥
jo mohi maaeaa chit laaeide se chhodd chale dukh roe |
Those who focus their consciousness on emotional attachment to Maya must leave; they depart crying out in despair.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
jan naanak naam dhiaaeaa har ant sakhaaee hoe |1|
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, his only Companion in the end. ||1||
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
mai har bin avar na koe |
I have none other than You, O Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har gur saranaaee paaeeai vanajaariaa mitraa vaddabhaag paraapat hoe |1| rahaau |
In the Guru's Sanctuary, the Lord is found, O my merchant friend; by great good fortune, He is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਈਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਉ ॥
sant janaa vin bhaaeea har kinai na paaeaa naau |
Without the humble Saints, O Siblings of Destiny, no one has obtained the Lord's Name.
ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਵੇਸੁਆ ਪੁਤੁ ਨਿਨਾਉ ॥
vich haumai karam kamaavade jiau vesuaa put ninaau |
Those who do their deeds in ego are like the prostitute's son, who has no name.
ਪਿਤਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਤਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
pitaa jaat taa hoeeai gur tutthaa kare pasaau |
The father's status is obtained only if the Guru is pleased and bestows His Favor.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਲਗਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
vaddabhaagee gur paaeaa har ahinis lagaa bhaau |
By great good fortune, the Guru is found; embrace love for the Lord, day and night.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਉ ॥੨॥
jan naanak braham pachhaaniaa har keerat karam kamaau |2|
Servant Nanak has realized God; he sings the Lord's Praises through the actions he does. ||2||
ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਗਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
man har har lagaa chaau |
In my mind there is such a deep yearning for the Lord, Har, Har.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai naam drirraaeaa har miliaa har prabh naau |1| rahaau |
The Perfect Guru has implanted the Naam within me; I have found the Lord through the Lord God's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਸਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
jab lag joban saas hai tab lag naam dhiaae |
As long as there is youth and health, meditate on the Naam.
ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
chaladiaa naal har chalasee har ante le chhaddaae |
Along the way, the Lord shall go along with you, and in the end, He shall save you.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਇ ॥
hau balihaaree tin kau jin har man vutthaa aae |
I am a sacrifice to those, within whose minds the Lord has come to dwell.
ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥
jinee har har naam na chetio se ant ge pachhutaae |
Those who have not remembered the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, shall leave with regret in the end.
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੩॥
dhur masatak har prabh likhiaa jan naanak naam dhiaae |3|
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny written upon their foreheads, O servant Nanak, meditate on the Naam. ||3||
ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਇ ॥
man har har preet lagaae |
O my mind, embrace love for the Lord, Har, Har.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaddabhaagee gur paaeaa gurasabadee paar laghaae |1| rahaau |
By great good fortune, the Guru is found; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, we are carried across to the other side. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਲੇਇ ॥
har aape aap upaaeidaa har aape devai lee |
The Lord Himself creates, He Himself gives and takes away.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥
har aape bharam bhulaaeidaa har aape hee mat dee |
The Lord Himself leads us astray in doubt; the Lord Himself imparts understanding.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥
guramukhaa man paragaas hai se virale keee kee |
The minds of the Gurmukhs are illuminated and enlightened; they are so very rare.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੇ ॥
hau balihaaree tin kau jin har paaeaa guramate |
I am a sacrifice to those who find the Lord, through the Guru's Teachings.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠੜਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
jan naanak kamal paragaasiaa man har har vuttharraa he |4|
Servant Nanak's heart-lotus has blossomed forth, and the Lord, Har, Har, has come to dwell in the mind. ||4||
ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੁ ਕਰੇ ॥
man har har japan kare |
O mind, chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਉ ਜਿੰਦੂ ਸਭ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har gur saranaaee bhaj pau jindoo sabh kilavikh dukh parahare |1| rahaau |
Hurry to the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Guru, O my soul; all your sins shall be taken away. ||1||Pause||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਿਤੁ ਭਤਿ ॥
ghatt ghatt rameea man vasai kiau paaeeai kit bhat |
The All-pervading Lord dwells within each and every person's heart-how can He be obtained?
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਆਇ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ॥
gur pooraa satigur bhetteeai har aae vasai man chit |
By meeting the Perfect Guru, the True Guru, the Lord comes to dwell within the conscious mind.
ਮੈ ਧਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ॥
mai dhar naam adhaar hai har naamai te gat mat |
The Naam is my Support and Sustenance. From the Lord's Name, I obtain salvation and understanding.
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ॥
mai har har naam visaahu hai har naame hee jat pat |
My faith is in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The Lord's Name is my status and honor.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿ ॥੫॥
jan naanak naam dhiaaeaa rang ratarraa har rang rat |5|
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He is dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love. ||5||
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਤਿ ॥
har dhiaavahu har prabh sat |
Meditate on the Lord, the True Lord God.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਸਭ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੇ ਉਤਪਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur bachanee har prabh jaaniaa sabh har prabh te utapat |1| rahaau |
Through the Guru's Word, you shall come to know the Lord God. From the Lord God, everything was created. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jin kau poorab likhiaa se aae mile gur paas |
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny, come to the Guru and meet Him.
ਸੇਵਕ ਭਾਇ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿ ॥
sevak bhaae vanajaariaa mitraa gur har har naam pragaas |
They love to serve, O my merchant friend, and through the Guru, they are illuminated by the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਵਣਜੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਆ ਜਿਨ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਅੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
dhan dhan vanaj vaapaareea jin vakhar ladiarraa har raas |
Blessed, blessed is the trade of those traders who have loaded the merchandise of the Wealth of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਦਰਿ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਸੇ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
guramukhaa dar mukh ujale se aae mile har paas |
The faces of the Gurmukhs are radiant in the Court of the Lord; they come to the Lord and merge with Him.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੁਠਾ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥੬॥
jan naanak gur tin paaeaa jinaa aap tutthaa gunataas |6|
O servant Nanak, they alone find the Guru, with whom the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence, is pleased. ||6||
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ॥

Meditate on the Lord, with every breath and morsel of food.
ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੧॥
man preet lagee tinaa guramukhaa har naam jinaa raharaas |1| rahaau |1|
The Gurmukhs embrace the Love of the Lord in their minds; they are continually occupied with the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||1||

All the demons gathered together and prepared for the war.,
ਅਮਰਪੁਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਘੇਰਿ ਲੀਓ ਸੁਰ ਰਾਜ ॥੬੩॥
amarapuree meh jaae kai gher leeo sur raaj |63|
They went to the city of goods and besieged Indra, the king of gods.63.,

khol kai duaaraa kivaar sabhai nikasee asuraar kee sain chalee |
Opening all the gates and portals of the citadel, the army of Indra, the enemy of demons marched outside.,
ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤਬ ਆਨਿ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਲਖਿ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਕੀ ਪਤ੍ਰਿ ਜਿਉ ਸੈਨ ਹਲੀ ॥
ran mai tab aan ikatr bhe lakh satru kee patr jiau sain halee |
All of them assembled in the battlefield and the army of the enemy, seeing the army of Indra, trembled like a leaf.,
ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਦੀਰਘ ਜਿਉ ਗਜ ਬਾਜ ਹਲੇ ਰਥ ਪਾਇਕ ਜਿਉ ਫਲ ਫੂਲ ਕਲੀ ॥
drum deeragh jiau gaj baaj hale rath paaeik jiau fal fool kalee |
The elephants and horses tall trees and the warriors on foot and on chariots move like fruit, flowers and buds.,
ਦਲ ਸੁੰਭ ਕੋ ਮੇਘ ਬਿਡਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਨਿਕਸਿਉ ਮਘਵਾ ਮਾਨੋ ਪਉਨ ਬਲੀ ॥੬੪॥
dal sunbh ko megh biddaaran ko nikasiau maghavaa maano paun balee |64|
In order to destroy the clouds-like forces of Sumbh, Indra came forward like mighty wind-god.64.,
