ਬਿਤੈ ਬਰਖ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਸਟ ਮਾਸੰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨੰ ॥
bitai barakh dvai asatt maasan pramaanan |
ਭਯੋ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਭੰ ਸਰਬ ਬਿਦ︀ਯਾ ਨਿਧਾਨੰ ॥
bhayo suprabhan sarab bidayaa nidhaanan |
Two years and eight months passed and Parasnath, the store of all learnings was known as a glorious king
ਜਪੈ ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਠਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਪਾਣ ਦੇਵੀ ॥
japai hingulaa tthingulaa paan devee |
ਅਨਾਸਾ ਛੁਧਾ ਅਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਅਭੇਵੀ ॥੨੧॥
anaasaa chhudhaa atradhaaree abhevee |21|
He repeated the names of he goddess of Hinglaaj and the weapon-wearing Durga.21.
ਜਪੈ ਤੋਤਲਾ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਖਗ ਤਾਣੀ ॥
japai totalaa seetalaa khag taanee |
ਭ੍ਰਮਾ ਭੈਹਰੀ ਭੀਮ ਰੂਪਾ ਭਵਾਣੀ ॥

ਹਹਾ ਹੂਹਿ ਹਾਸੰ ਝਲਾ ਝਲ ਛਤ੍ਰੰ ॥੨੨॥
hahaa hoohi haasan jhalaa jhal chhatran |22|
He gleaming arms, weapons, splendour, canopy, pleasantry etc. increased his glory.22.
ਅਟਾ ਅਟ ਹਾਸੰ ਛਟਾ ਛੁਟ ਕੇਸੰ ॥
attaa att haasan chhattaa chhutt kesan |
ਅਸੰ ਓਧ ਪਾਣੰ ਨਮੋ ਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਭੇਸੰ ॥
asan odh paanan namo kraoor bhesan |
The beauty of his enjoyment and his hair appeared extremely comely and his sword glistened like lightning in his hands
ਸਿਰੰਮਾਲ ਸ੍ਵਛੰ ਲਸੈ ਦੰਤ ਪੰਤੰ ॥
siramaal svachhan lasai dant pantan |
ਭਜੈ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੂੜੰ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲੰਤ ਸੰਤੰ ॥੨੩॥

He had worn a pure rosary on his head and the rows of his teeth looked magnificent seeing him, the enemies fled away and the saints were pleased.23.
ਅਲਿੰਪਾਤਿ ਅਰਧੀ ਮਹਾ ਰੂਪ ਰਾਜੈ ॥
alinpaat aradhee mahaa roop raajai |
ਮਹਾ ਜੋਤ ਜ੍ਵਾਲੰ ਕਰਾਲੰ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
mahaa jot jvaalan karaalan biraajai |
He appeared as a most beautiful king and there was a hideous halo of light around his face
ਤ੍ਰਸੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਪੁਸਟੰ ਹਸੈ ਸੁਧ ਸਾਧੰ ॥
trasai dusatt pusattan hasai sudh saadhan |
ਭਜੈ ਪਾਨ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਅਰੂਪੀ ਅਗਾਧੰ ॥੨੪॥
bhajai paan duragaa aroopee agaadhan |24|
On seeing him, the tyrants got illusioned and the saints smiled in their pleased mind he remembered the formless and mysterious Durga,24.
ਸੁਨੇ ਉਸਤਤੀ ਭੀ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੰ ॥
sune usatatee bhee bhavaanee kripaalan |
ਅਧੰ ਉਰਧਵੀ ਆਪ ਰੂਪੀ ਰਸਾਲੰ ॥
adhan uradhavee aap roopee rasaalan |
On listening to her praises, Bhavani was pleased on him and she endowed him with unique beauty
ਦਏ ਇਖ੍ਵਧੀ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਭੰਗੰ ਖਤੰਗੰ ॥
de ikhvadhee dvai abhangan khatangan |
ਪਰਸ੍ਰਯੰ ਧਰੰ ਜਾਨ ਲੋਹੰ ਸੁਰੰਗੰ ॥੨੫॥
parasrayan dharan jaan lohan surangan |25|
She gave him two unfailing arms which could cause the steel-armoured enemies to fall on the earth.25.
ਜਬੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਧੀ ਸਬੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਏ ॥
jabai sasatr saadhee sabai sasatr paae |
ਉਘਾਰੇ ਚੂਮੇ ਕੰਠ ਸੀਸੰ ਛੁਹਾਏ ॥
aughaare choome kantth seesan chhuhaae |
When this king, practising the armament, obtained the weapons, he kissed them, hugged them and placed them on his head
ਲਖ︀ਯੋ ਸਰਬ ਰਾਵੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
lakhayo sarab raavan prabhaavan apaaran |
ਅਜੋਨੀ ਅਜੈ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥੨੬॥
ajonee ajai bed bidiaa bichaaran |26|
All the kings saw him as unconquerable warrior and a successful scholar of he Vedic learning.26.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੀਤੁਆ ਜਬੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥

ਪੜੇ ਅਨੁਭਵੰ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥
parre anubhavan bed bidiaa bichaaran |
After obtaining the unlimited arms and weapons, he also obtained the experience of the reflection of Vedic learning
ਪੜੇ ਸਰਬ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਹੁਤੀ ਸਰਬ ਦੇਸੰ ॥
parre sarab bidiaa hutee sarab desan |
ਜਿਤੇ ਸਰਬ ਦੇਸੀ ਸੁ ਅਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਨਰੇਸੰ ॥੨੭॥
jite sarab desee su asatran naresan |27|
He studies the sciences of all the countries and on the strength of his arms and weapons, he conquered the kings of all the countries.27.
ਪਠੇ ਕਾਗਦੰ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸੰ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥
patthe kaagadan des desan apaaree |
ਕਰੋ ਆਨਿ ਕੈ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਦ︀ਯਾ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
karo aan kai bed bidayaa bichaaree |
He invited the scholars and sages from many countries far and near for consultations on Vedic learning
ਜਟੇ ਦੰਡ ਮੁੰਡੀ ਤਪੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥
jatte dandd munddee tapee brahamachaaree |
ਸਧੀ ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗੀ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੮॥
sadhee sraavagee bed bidiaa bichaaree |28|
They included those with matted locks, Dandis, Mudis, ascetics, celibates, practisers and many other students and scholars of Vedic learning.28.
ਹਕਾਰੇ ਸਬੈ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸਾ ਨਰੇਸੰ ॥
hakaare sabai des desaa naresan |
ਬੁਲਾਏ ਸਬੈ ਮੋਨ ਮਾਨੀ ਸੁ ਬੇਸੰ ॥
bulaae sabai mon maanee su besan |
The king of all the countries far and near and the silence-observing hermits were also called
ਜਟਾ ਧਾਰ ਜੇਤੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਪਈਯੈ ॥
jattaa dhaar jete kahoon dekh peeyai |
ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਨਾਥ ਭਾਖੈ ਬੁਲਈਯੈ ॥੨੯॥
bulaavai tisai naath bhaakhai buleeyai |29|
Wherever an ascetic with matted locks was seen, he was also invited with the permission of Parasnath.29.
ਫਿਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਦੇਸੰ ਨਰੇਸੰ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥
fire sarab desan naresan bulaavai |
ਮਿਲੇ ਨ ਤਿਸੈ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਛੈਣੀ ਛਿਨਾਵੈ ॥
mile na tisai chhatr chhainee chhinaavai |
The kings of all the countries were called and whosoever refused to meet the messengers, his canopy and the army were seixed
ਪਠੇ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਏਕੈ ਦਿਸਾ ਏਕ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
patthe patr ekai disaa ek dhaavai |
ਜਟੀ ਦੰਡ ਮੁੰਡੀ ਕਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਆਵੈ ॥੩੦॥
jattee dandd munddee kahoon haath aavai |30|
The letters and persons were sent to all directions, so that if any ascetic with matted locks, Dandi, Mundi was found, he was brought.30.
ਰਚ︀ਯੋ ਜਗ ਰਾਜਾ ਚਲੇ ਸਰਬ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
rachayo jag raajaa chale sarab jogee |
ਜਹਾ ਲਉ ਕੋਈ ਬੂਢ ਬਾਰੋ ਸਭੋਗੀ ॥
jahaa lau koee boodt baaro sabhogee |
Then the king performed a Yajna, in which all the Yogis, children, old men came,
ਕਹਾ ਰੰਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਹਾ ਨਾਰ ਹੋਈ ॥
kahaa rank raajaa kahaa naar hoee |
ਰਚ︀ਯੋ ਜਗ ਰਾਜਾ ਚਲਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਕੋਈ ॥੩੧॥
rachayo jag raajaa chalio sarab koee |31|
Kings, paupers, men, women etc. all came for participation.31.
ਫਿਰੇ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਸੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
fire patr sarabatr desan apaaran |
ਜੁਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਰਾਜਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੰ ਆਨਿ ਦੁਆਰੰ ॥
jure sarab raajaa nripan aan duaaran |
Invitations were sent to all the countries and all the kings reached at the gate of Parasnath
ਜਹਾ ਲੌ ਹੁਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਜਟਾਧਾਰੀ ॥
jahaa lau hute jagat mai jattaadhaaree |
ਮਿਲੈ ਰੋਹ ਦੇਸੰ ਭਏ ਭੇਖ ਭਾਰੀ ॥੩੨॥
milai roh desan bhe bhekh bhaaree |32|
All the ascetics with matted locks in the world, they all gathered together and reached before the king.32.
ਜਹਾ ਲਉ ਹੁਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗਿਸਟ ਸਾਧੇ ॥
jahaa lau hute jog jogisatt saadhe |
ਮਲੇ ਮੁਖ ਬਿਭੂਤੰ ਸੁ ਲੰਗੋਟ ਬਾਧੇ ॥
male mukh bibhootan su langott baadhe |
The practising Yogis, smeared with ashes and wearing lion-cloth and all sages resided there peacefully
ਜਟਾ ਸੀਸ ਧਾਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
jattaa sees dhaare nihaare apaaran |
ਮਹਾ ਜੋਗ ਧਾਰੰ ਸੁਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥੩੩॥
mahaa jog dhaaran subidiaa bichaaran |33|
Many great Yogis, scholars, and the ascetics with matted locks were seen there.33.
ਜਿਤੇ ਸਰਬ ਭੂਪੰ ਬੁਲੇ ਸਰਬ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
jite sarab bhoopan bule sarab raajaa |
ਚਹੂੰ ਚਕ ਮੋ ਦਾਨ ਨੀਸਾਨ ਬਾਜਾ ॥
chahoon chak mo daan neesaan baajaa |
All the kings were invited by Parasnath and in all the four directions, he became famous as a donor
ਮਿਲੇ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ॥
mile des desaan anek mantree |
ਕਰੈ ਸਾਧਨਾ ਜੋਗ ਬਾਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਤੰਤ੍ਰੀ ॥੩੪॥
karai saadhanaa jog baajantr tantree |34|
Many ministers of the countries gathered there, the musical instruments of the practising Yogis were played there.34.
ਜਿਤੇ ਸਰਬ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਥਲੀ ਸੰਤ ਆਹੇ ॥
jite sarab bhoom sathalee sant aahe |
ਤਿਤੇ ਸਰਬ ਪਾਰਸ ਨਾਥੰ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
tite sarab paaras naathan bulaae |
All the saints who had come at that place, they were all called by Prasnath
ਦਏ ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਭੋਜ ਅਰਘ ਦਾਨੰ ॥
de bhaat anek bhoj aragh daanan |
ਲਜੀ ਪੇਖ ਦੇਵਿ ਸਥਲੀ ਮੋਨ ਮਾਨੰ ॥੩੫॥
lajee pekh dev sathalee mon maanan |35|
He served them with various types of food and bestowed charities on them, seeing which the abode of the gods felt shy.35.
ਕਰੈ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥
karai baitth ke bed bidiaa bichaaran |
ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੋ ਸਬੈ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ॥
prakaaso sabai aap aapan prakaaran |
All sitting there held consultations in their own way regarding Vedic learning
ਟਕੰ ਟਕ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੁਖੰ ਮੁਖਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ॥
ttakan ttak laagee mukhan mukh pekhio |
ਸੁਨ︀ਯੋ ਕਾਨ ਹੋ ਤੋ ਸੁ ਤੋ ਆਖਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ॥੩੬॥
sunayo kaan ho to su to aakh dekhio |36|
All of them saw pointedly towards one another and whatever they had heard earlier with their ears, on that day they saw it there with their own eyes.36.
ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੋ ਸਬੈ ਆਪ ਆਪੰ ਪੁਰਾਣੰ ॥
prakaaso sabai aap aapan puraanan |
ਰੜੋ ਦੇਸਿ ਦੇਸਾਣ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਮੁਹਾਣੰ ॥
rarro des desaan bidiaa muhaanan |
All of them opened up their Puranas and began to study their country’s lore
ਕਰੋ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤੰ ਸੁ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥
karo bhaat bhaatan su bidiaa bichaaran |
ਨ੍ਰਿਭੈ ਚਿਤ ਦੈ ਕੈ ਮਹਾ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਟਾਰੰ ॥੩੭॥
nribhai chit dai kai mahaa traas ttaaran |37|
They began to reflect fearlessly on their lore in various ways.37.
ਜੁਰੇ ਬੰਗਸੀ ਰਾਫਿਜੀ ਰੋਹਿ ਰੂਮੀ ॥
jure bangasee raafijee rohi roomee |
ਚਲੇ ਬਾਲਖੀ ਛਾਡ ਕੈ ਰਾਜ ਭੂਮੀ ॥
chale baalakhee chhaadd kai raaj bhoomee |
ਨ੍ਰਿਭੈ ਭਿੰਭਰੀ ਕਾਸਮੀਰੀ ਕੰਧਾਰੀ ॥
nribhai bhinbharee kaasameeree kandhaaree |
ਕਿ ਕੈ ਕਾਲਮਾਖੀ ਕਸੇ ਕਾਸਕਾਰੀ ॥੩੮॥
ki kai kaalamaakhee kase kaasakaaree |38|
There were gathered there the residents of Bang country, rafzi, Rohelas, Sami, Balakshi, Kashmiri, Kandhari and several Kal-mukhi Snnyasis.38.
ਜੁਰੇ ਦਛਣੀ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਤਾ ਅਰਯਾਰੇ ॥
jure dachhanee sasatr betaa arayaare |
ਦ੍ਰੁਜੈ ਦ੍ਰਾਵੜੀ ਤਪਤ ਤਈਲੰਗ ਵਾਰੇ ॥
drujai draavarree tapat teelang vaare |
The southern scholars of Shastras and the Dravidian and Telangi Savants has also gathered there
ਪਰੰ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਉਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਸੀ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
paran poorabee utr desee apaaran |
ਮਿਲੇ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸੇਣ ਜੋਧਾ ਜੁਝਾਰੰ ॥੩੯॥
mile des desen jodhaa jujhaaran |39|
Alongwith them there were gathered warriors of Eastern and Northern countries.39.

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋ ਕਤ ਡਰੈ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰੈ ॥
so kat ddarai ji khasam samaarai |
One who contemplates his Lord and Master - why should he be afraid?
ਡਰਿ ਡਰਿ ਪਚੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ddar ddar pache manamukh vechaare |1| rahaau |
The wretched self-willed manmukhs are ruined through fear and dread. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
sir aoopar maat pitaa guradev |
The Divine Guru, my mother and father, is over my head.
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੇਵ ॥
safal moorat jaa kee niramal sev |
His image brings prosperity; serving Him, we become pure.
ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
ek niranjan jaa kee raas |
The One Lord, the Immaculate Lord, is our capital.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੧॥
mil saadhasangat hovat paragaas |1|
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, we are illumined and enlightened. ||1||
ਜੀਅਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥
jeean kaa daataa pooran sabh tthaae |
The Giver of all beings is totally pervading everywhere.
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
kott kales mitteh har naae |
Millions of pains are removed by the Lord's Name.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਸੈ ॥
janam maran sagalaa dukh naasai |
All the pains of birth and death are taken away
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਾਸੈ ॥੨॥
guramukh jaa kai man tan baasai |2|
from the Gurmukh, within whose mind and body the Lord dwells. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਲਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
jis no aap le larr laae |
He alone, whom the Lord has attached to the hem of His robe,
ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
daragah milai tisai hee jaae |
obtains a place in the Court of the Lord.
ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਜਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
seee bhagat ji saache bhaane |
They alone are devotees, who are pleasing to the True Lord.
ਜਮਕਾਲ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਕਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
jamakaal te bhe nikaane |3|
They are freed from the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥
saachaa saahib sach darabaar |
True is the Lord, and True is His Court.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
keemat kaun kahai beechaar |
Who can contemplate and describe His value?
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar sagal adhaar |
He is within each and every heart, the Support of all.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸੰਤ ਰੇਣਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੪॥

Nanak begs for the dust of the Saints. ||4||3||24||

At home, and outside, I place my trust in You; You are always with Your humble servant.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
kar kirapaa preetam prabh apune naam jpau har rang |1|
Bestow Your Mercy, O my Beloved God, that I may chant the Lord's Name with love. ||1||
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
jan kau prabh apane kaa taan |
God is the strength of His humble servants.
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo too kareh karaaveh suaamee saa masalat paravaan | rahaau |
Whatever You do, or cause to be done, O Lord and Master, that outcome is acceptable to me. ||Pause||
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਖੀ ॥

The Transcendent Lord is my honor; the Lord is my emancipation; the glorious sermon of the Lord is my wealth.
ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੀ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੫॥
charan saran naanak daas har har santee ih bidh jaatee |2|1|25|
Slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord's feet; from the Saints, he has learned this way of life. ||2||1||25||

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
sagal manorath prabh te paae kantth laae gur raakhe |
God has fulfilled all my desires. Holding me close in His embrace, the Guru has saved me.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਜਲਨਿ ਨ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਭਾਖੇ ॥੧॥
sansaar saagar meh jalan na deene kinai na dutar bhaakhe |1|
He has saved me from burning in the ocean of fire, and now, no one calls it impassible. ||1||
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ॥
jin kai man saachaa bisvaas |
Those who have true faith in their minds,
ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਆਨਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਉਲਾਸੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pekh pekh suaamee kee sobhaa aanad sadaa ulaas | rahaau |
continually behold the Glory of the Lord; they are forever happy and blissful. ||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਾਖਿਓ ॥
charan saran pooran paramesur antarajaamee saakhio |
I seek the Sanctuary of the feet of the Perfect Transcendent Lord, the Searcher of hearts; I behold Him ever-present.
ਜਾਨਿ ਬੂਝਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਕੁਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਓ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੬॥
jaan boojh apanaa keeo naanak bhagatan kaa ankur raakhio |2|2|26|
In His wisdom, the Lord has made Nanak His own; He has preserved the roots of His devotees. ||2||2||26||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
jeh jeh pekhau teh hajoor door katahu na jaaee |
Wherever I look, there I see Him present; He is never far away.
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
rav rahiaa sarabatr mai man sadaa dhiaaee |1|
He is all-pervading, everywhere; O my mind, meditate on Him forever. ||1||
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨਹੀ ਬੀਛੁੜੈ ਸੋ ਸੰਗੀ ਗਨੀਐ ॥
eet aoot nahee beechhurrai so sangee ganeeai |
He alone is called your companion, who will not be separated from you, here or hereafter.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੋ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਹਿ ਸੋ ਅਲਪ ਸੁਖੁ ਭਨੀਐ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binas jaae jo nimakh meh so alap sukh bhaneeai | rahaau |
That pleasure, which passes away in an instant, is trivial. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਅਪਿਆਉ ਦੇਇ ਕਛੁ ਊਨ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
pratipaalai apiaau dee kachh aoon na hoee |
He cherishes us, and gives us sustenance; He does not lack anything.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸੰਮਾਲਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
saas saas samaalataa meraa prabh soee |2|
With each and every breath, my God takes care of His creatures. ||2||
ਅਛਲ ਅਛੇਦ ਅਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥
achhal achhed apaar prabh aoochaa jaa kaa roop |
God is undeceiveable, impenetrable and infinite; His form is lofty and exalted.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਜਨ ਅਚਰਜ ਆਨੂਪੁ ॥੩॥
jap jap kareh anand jan acharaj aanoop |3|
Chanting and meditating on the embodiment of wonder and beauty, His humble servants are in bliss. ||3||
ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਿਤੁ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਾ ॥
saa mat dehu deaal prabh jit tumeh araadhaa |
Bless me with such understanding, O Merciful Lord God, that I might remember You.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੇਨ ਪਗ ਸਾਧਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੭॥
naanak mangai daan prabh ren pag saadhaa |4|3|27|
Nanak begs God for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||3||27||
