ਲਖਿ ਛਬਿ ਬਾਲੀ ॥

The beauty of that girl was unique and marvelous
ਅਤਿਭੁਤ ਰੂਪੰ ॥

ਜਣੁ ਬੁਧਿ ਕੂਪੰ ॥੨੬੭॥

She appeared to be a store of intellect the sage saw her.267.
ਫਿਰ ਫਿਰ ਪੇਖਾ ॥

ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲੇਖਾ ॥

ਤਨ ਮਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
tan man jaanaa |
ਗੁਨ ਗਨ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੨੬੮॥

Then he saw her again and again in various ways and accepted her quality in his mind and body.268.
ਤਿਹ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨਾ ॥

ਅਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
at jas leenaa |
ਅਗਿ ਤਬ ਚਾਲਾ ॥

ਜਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਜ੍ਵਾਲਾ ॥੨੬੯॥

After adopting he as his Guru, he offered her approbation and then moved further like the flame of fire.269.
ਇਤਿ ਦੁਆਦਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੜਕੀ ਗੁਡੀ ਖੇਡਤੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥੧੨॥

End of the description of the adoption of a girl playing with her doll as his twelfth Guru.
ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਕਪਟੁ ਮੁਖ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
hridai kapatt mukh giaanee |
In his heart there is deception, and yet in his mouth are words of wisdom.
ਝੂਠੇ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਸਿ ਪਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
jhootthe kahaa bilovas paanee |1|
You are false - why are you churning water? ||1||
ਕਾਂਇਆ ਮਾਂਜਸਿ ਕਉਨ ਗੁਨਾਂ ॥
kaaneaa maanjas kaun gunaan |
Why do you bother to wash your body?
ਜਉ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹੈ ਮਲਨਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jau ghatt bheetar hai malanaan |1| rahaau |
Your heart is still full of filth. ||1||Pause||
ਲਉਕੀ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨੑਾਈ ॥
laukee atthasatth teerath naaee |
The gourd may be washed at the sixty-eight sacred shrines,
ਕਉਰਾਪਨੁ ਤਊ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
kauraapan taoo na jaaee |2|
but even then, its bitterness is not removed. ||2||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
keh kabeer beechaaree |
Says Kabeer after deep contemplation,
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਾਰਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੩॥੮॥
bhav saagar taar muraaree |3|8|
please help me cross over the terrifying world-ocean, O Lord, O Destroyer of ego. ||3||8||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਬਹੁ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਕਰਿ ਪਰ ਧਨੁ ਲਿਆਵੈ ॥
bahu parapanch kar par dhan liaavai |
Practicing great hypocrisy, he acquires the wealth of others.
ਸੁਤ ਦਾਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਆਨਿ ਲੁਟਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
sut daaraa peh aan luttaavai |1|
Returning home, he squanders it on his wife and children. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਕਪਟੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
man mere bhoole kapatt na keejai |
O my mind, do not practice deception, even inadvertently.
ਅੰਤਿ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਪਹਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ant niberaa tere jeea peh leejai |1| rahaau |
In the end, your own soul shall have to answer for its account. ||1||Pause||
ਛਿਨੁ ਛਿਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ਜਰਾ ਜਨਾਵੈ ॥
chhin chhin tan chheejai jaraa janaavai |
Moment by moment, the body is wearing away, and old age is asserting itself.
ਤਬ ਤੇਰੀ ਓਕ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਨੀਓ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
tab teree ok koee paaneeo na paavai |2|
And then, when you are old, no one shall pour water into your cup. ||2||
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
kehat kabeer koee nahee teraa |
Says Kabeer, no one belongs to you.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਕੀ ਨ ਜਪਹਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੩॥੯॥
hiradai raam kee na japeh saveraa |3|9|
Why not chant the Lord's Name in your heart, when you are still young? ||3||9||
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮਨ ਪਵਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਬਨਿਆ ॥
santahu man pavanai sukh baniaa |
O Saints, my windy mind has now become peaceful and still.
ਕਿਛੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਗਨਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kichh jog paraapat ganiaa | rahaau |
It seems that I have learned something of the science of Yoga. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
gur dikhalaaee moree |
The Guru has shown me the hole,
ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਰਗ ਪੜਤ ਹੈ ਚੋਰੀ ॥
jit mirag parrat hai choree |
through which the deer carefully enters.
ਮੂੰਦਿ ਲੀਏ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ॥
moond lee daravaaje |
I have now closed off the doors,
ਬਾਜੀਅਲੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜੇ ॥੧॥
baajeeale anahad baaje |1|
and the unstruck celestial sound current resounds. ||1||
ਕੁੰਭ ਕਮਲੁ ਜਲਿ ਭਰਿਆ ॥
kunbh kamal jal bhariaa |
The pitcher of my heart-lotus is filled with water;
ਜਲੁ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਊਭਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
jal mettiaa aoobhaa kariaa |
I have spilled out the water, and set it upright.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
kahu kabeer jan jaaniaa |
Says Kabeer, the Lord's humble servant, this I know.
ਜਉ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥੧੦॥
jau jaaniaa tau man maaniaa |2|10|
Now that I know this, my mind is pleased and appeased. ||2||10||

Raag Sorat'h:
ਭੂਖੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
bhookhe bhagat na keejai |
I am so hungry, I cannot perform devotional worship service.
ਯਹ ਮਾਲਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
yeh maalaa apanee leejai |
Here, Lord, take back Your mala.
ਹਉ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਰੇਨਾ ॥
hau maangau santan renaa |
I beg for the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੀ ਕਾ ਦੇਨਾ ॥੧॥
mai naahee kisee kaa denaa |1|
I do not owe anyone anything. ||1||
ਮਾਧੋ ਕੈਸੀ ਬਨੈ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
maadho kaisee banai tum sange |
O Lord, how can I be with You?
ਆਪਿ ਨ ਦੇਹੁ ਤ ਲੇਵਉ ਮੰਗੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aap na dehu ta levau mange | rahaau |
If You do not give me Yourself, then I shall beg until I get You. ||Pause||
ਦੁਇ ਸੇਰ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਚੂਨਾ ॥
due ser maangau choonaa |
I ask for two kilos of flour,
ਪਾਉ ਘੀਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੂਨਾ ॥
paau gheeo sang loonaa |
and half a pound of ghee, and salt.
ਅਧ ਸੇਰੁ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਦਾਲੇ ॥
adh ser maangau daale |
I ask for a pound of beans,
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੋਨਉ ਵਖਤ ਜਿਵਾਲੇ ॥੨॥
mo kau donau vakhat jivaale |2|
which I shall eat twice a day. ||2||
ਖਾਟ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਚਉਪਾਈ ॥
khaatt maangau chaupaaee |
I ask for a cot, with four legs,
ਸਿਰਹਾਨਾ ਅਵਰ ਤੁਲਾਈ ॥
sirahaanaa avar tulaaee |
and a pillow and mattress.
ਊਪਰ ਕਉ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਖੀਂਧਾ ॥
aoopar kau maangau kheendhaa |
I ask for a quilt to cover myself.
ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਜਨੁ ਥਂੀਧਾ ॥੩॥
teree bhagat karai jan thaneedhaa |3|
Your humble servant shall perform Your devotional worship service with love. ||3||
ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਲਬੋ ॥
mai naahee keetaa labo |
I have no greed;
ਇਕੁ ਨਾਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੈ ਫਬੋ ॥
eik naau teraa mai fabo |
Your Name is the only ornament I wish for.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
keh kabeer man maaniaa |
Says Kabeer, my mind is pleased and appeased;
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਤਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
man maaniaa tau har jaaniaa |4|11|
now that my mind is pleased and appeased, I have come to know the Lord. ||4||11||

ਜਬ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਬ ਗਾਵਾ ॥
jab dekhaa tab gaavaa |
When I see Him, I sing His Praises.
ਤਉ ਜਨ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੧॥
tau jan dheeraj paavaa |1|
Then I, his humble servant, become patient. ||1||
ਨਾਦਿ ਸਮਾਇਲੋ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਲੇ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naad samaaeilo re satigur bhettile devaa |1| rahaau |
Meeting the Divine True Guru, I merge into the sound current of the Naad. ||1||Pause||
ਜਹ ਝਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਰੁ ਦਿਸੰਤਾ ॥
jeh jhil mil kaar disantaa |
Where the dazzling white light is seen,
ਤਹ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਬਜੰਤਾ ॥
teh anahad sabad bajantaa |
there the unstruck sound current of the Shabad resounds.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
jotee jot samaanee |
One's light merges in the Light;
ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
mai gur parasaadee jaanee |2|
by Guru's Grace, I know this. ||2||
ਰਤਨ ਕਮਲ ਕੋਠਰੀ ॥
ratan kamal kottharee |
The jewels are in the treasure chamber of the heart-lotus.
ਚਮਕਾਰ ਬੀਜੁਲ ਤਹੀ ॥
chamakaar beejul tahee |
They sparkle and glitter like lightning.
ਨੇਰੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
nerai naahee door |
The Lord is near at hand, not far away.
ਨਿਜ ਆਤਮੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
nij aatamai rahiaa bharapoor |3|
He is totally permeating and pervading in my soul. ||3||
ਜਹ ਅਨਹਤ ਸੂਰ ਉਜੵਾਰਾ ॥
jeh anahat soor ujayaaraa |
Where the light of the undying sun shines,
ਤਹ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਲੈ ਛੰਛਾਰਾ ॥
teh deepak jalai chhanchhaaraa |
the light of burning lamps seems insignificant.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
gur parasaadee jaaniaa |
By Guru's Grace, I know this.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮਾ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥
jan naamaa sehaj samaaniaa |4|1|
Servant Naam Dayv is absorbed in the Celestial Lord. ||4||1||
