The king trembled, the dreadful war-drums sounded, the elephants went out of control and the warriors fought with one-another.441.

The trumpets sounded and the warriors were killed, the bloody fighters fell and their zeal doubled.442.

The adepts laughed and the groups of warriors ran away, the arrows were discharged and the warriors fought among themselves.443.

There was the sound of arrows and the trumpets sounded, the kettledrums were played and the armies roamed.444.

The cowards trembled and were killed in the battlefield, Many of them speedily ran away and felt shameful in their mind. 445.

The king was released and he ran away alongwith his army, with the discharge of arrows all the directions were covered.446.

By discharging the arrows, the pride of all was mashed, with the infliction of arrows all the warriors were weakened, their weapons fell down from their hands.447.

ਮਾਗੜਦੰ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਸਾਗੜਦੰ ਸੂਲੰ ॥

The flowers were showered from the sky and in this way, the trouble ended, the kalki incarnation in his fury, killed the king.448.

The gods came from the front and catching the feet of the Lord (Kalki) eulogized him, the adepts also composed epics in Praise of the Lord.449.

ਹਾਗੜਦੰ ਹੋਹੀ ਜਾਗੜਦੰ ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ॥
haagarradan hohee jaagarradan jaatraa |
ਨਾਗੜਦੰ ਨਾਚੈ ਪਾਗੜਦੰ ਪਾਤ੍ਰਾ ॥੪੫੦॥

For eulogizing the Lord, the epics were sung and the praise of the Lord spread in all the four sides, the pious people began pilgrimages and the true devotees of the Lord began to dance.450.
ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar sat naam karataa purakh nirbhau niravair akaal moorat ajoonee saibhan gur prasaad |
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying. Beyond Birth. Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace:
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਚਉਪਦੇ ॥

Sorat'h, First Mehl, First House, Chau-Padhay:
ਸਭਨਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਆਇਆ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਸਭਨਾਹ ॥
sabhanaa maranaa aaeaa vechhorraa sabhanaah |
Death comes to all, and all must suffer separation.
ਪੁਛਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਿਆਣਿਆ ਆਗੈ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਕਿਨਾਹ ॥
puchhahu jaae siaaniaa aagai milan kinaah |
Go and ask the clever people, whether they shall meet in the world hereafter.
ਜਿਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਵਡੜੀ ਵੇਦਨ ਤਿਨਾਹ ॥੧॥
jin meraa saahib veesarai vaddarree vedan tinaah |1|
Those who forget my Lord and Master shall suffer in terrible pain. ||1||
ਭੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
bhee saalaahihu saachaa soe |
So praise the True Lord,
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa kee nadar sadaa sukh hoe | rahaau |
by whose Grace peace ever prevails. ||Pause||
ਵਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
vaddaa kar saalaahanaa hai bhee hosee soe |
Praise Him as great; He is, and He shall ever be.
ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂ ਮਾਣਸ ਦਾਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
sabhanaa daataa ek too maanas daat na hoe |
You alone are the Great Giver; mankind cannot give anything.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਰੰਨ ਕਿ ਰੁੰਨੈ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
jo tis bhaavai so theeai ran ki runai hoe |2|
Whatever pleases Him, comes to pass; what good does it do to cry out in protest? ||2||
ਧਰਤੀ ਉਪਰਿ ਕੋਟ ਗੜ ਕੇਤੀ ਗਈ ਵਜਾਇ ॥
dharatee upar kott garr ketee gee vajaae |
Many have proclaimed their sovereignty over millions of fortresses on the earth, but they have now departed.
ਜੋ ਅਸਮਾਨਿ ਨ ਮਾਵਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਨਕਿ ਨਥਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
jo asamaan na maavanee tin nak nathaa paae |
And those, whom even the sky could not contain, had ropes put through their noses.
ਜੇ ਮਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੂਲੀਆ ਕਾਹੇ ਮਿਠਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
je man jaaneh sooleea kaahe mitthaa khaeh |3|
O mind, if you only knew the torment in your future, you would not relish the sweet pleasures of the present. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਉਗੁਣ ਜੇਤੜੇ ਤੇਤੇ ਗਲੀ ਜੰਜੀਰ ॥
naanak aaugun jetarre tete galee janjeer |
O Nanak, as many as are the sins one commits, so many are the chains around his neck.
ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਨਿ ਤ ਕਟੀਅਨਿ ਸੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਵੀਰ ॥
je gun hon ta katteean se bhaaee se veer |
If he possesses virtues, then the chains are cut away; these virtues are his brothers, his true brothers.
ਅਗੈ ਗਏ ਨ ਮੰਨੀਅਨਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢਹੁ ਵੇਪੀਰ ॥੪॥੧॥
agai ge na maneean maar kadtahu vepeer |4|1|
Going to the world hereafter, those who have no Guru are not accepted; they are beaten, and expelled. ||4||1||

Sorat'h, First Mehl, First House:
ਮਨੁ ਹਾਲੀ ਕਿਰਸਾਣੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਰਮੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਤਨੁ ਖੇਤੁ ॥
man haalee kirasaanee karanee saram paanee tan khet |
Make your mind the farmer, good deeds the farm, modesty the water, and your body the field.
ਨਾਮੁ ਬੀਜੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਗਾ ਰਖੁ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਵੇਸੁ ॥
naam beej santokh suhaagaa rakh gareebee ves |
Let the Lord's Name be the seed, contentment the plow, and your humble dress the fence.
ਭਾਉ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਜੰਮਸੀ ਸੇ ਘਰ ਭਾਗਠ ਦੇਖੁ ॥੧॥
bhaau karam kar jamasee se ghar bhaagatth dekh |1|
Doing deeds of love, the seed shall sprout, and you shall see your home flourish. ||1||
ਬਾਬਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
baabaa maaeaa saath na hoe |
O Baba, the wealth of Maya does not go with anyone.
ਇਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ein maaeaa jag mohiaa viralaa boojhai koe | rahaau |
This Maya has bewitched the world, but only a rare few understand this. ||Pause||
ਹਾਣੁ ਹਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਆਰਜਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਥੁ ॥
haan hatt kar aarajaa sach naam kar vath |
Make your ever-decreasing life your shop, and make the Lord's Name your merchandise.
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੋਚ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਂਡਸਾਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਰਖੁ ॥
surat soch kar bhaanddasaal tis vich tis no rakh |
Make understanding and contemplation your warehouse, and in that warehouse, store the Lord's Name.
ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਲਾਹਾ ਮਨ ਹਸੁ ॥੨॥
vanajaariaa siau vanaj kar lai laahaa man has |2|
Deal with the Lord's dealers, earn your profits, and rejoice in your mind. ||2||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਸਉਦਾਗਰੀ ਸਤੁ ਘੋੜੇ ਲੈ ਚਲੁ ॥
sun saasat saudaagaree sat ghorre lai chal |
Let your trade be listening to scripture, and let Truth be the horses you take to sell.
ਖਰਚੁ ਬੰਨੁ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਮਤੁ ਮਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਕਲੁ ॥
kharach ban changiaaeea mat man jaaneh kal |
Gather up merits for your travelling expenses, and do not think of tomorrow in your mind.
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਦੇਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖਿ ਲਹਹਿ ਮਹਲੁ ॥੩॥
nirankaar kai des jaeh taa sukh laheh mehal |3|
When you arrive in the land of the Formless Lord, you shall find peace in the Mansion of His Presence. ||3||
ਲਾਇ ਚਿਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਕੰਮੁ ॥
laae chit kar chaakaree man naam kar kam |
Let your service be the focusing of your consciousness, and let your occupation be the placing of faith in the Naam.
ਬੰਨੁ ਬਦੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਵਣੀ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਧੰਨੁ ॥
ban badeea kar dhaavanee taa ko aakhai dhan |
Let your work be restraint from sin; only then will people call you blessed.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਚੜੈ ਚਵਗਣ ਵੰਨੁ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak vekhai nadar kar charrai chavagan van |4|2|
O Nanak, the Lord shall look upon you with His Glance of Grace, and you shall be blessed with honor four times over. ||4||2||
