NARAAJ STANZA
ਆਨਿ ਆਨਿ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਸੰਧਾਨਿ ਬਾਨ ਧਾਵਹੀਂ ॥
aan aan sooramaa sandhaan baan dhaavaheen |
ਰੂਝਿ ਜੂਝ ਕੈ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਦੇਵ ਨਾਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੀਂ ॥
roojh joojh kai marai su dev naar paavaheen |
The warriors aiming the targets of their arrows marched forward and embracing martyrdom in the war, they wedded the heavenly damsels
ਸੁ ਰੀਝਿ ਰੀਝਿ ਅਛਰਾ ਅਲਛ ਸੂਰਣੋ ਬਰੈਂ ॥
su reejh reejh achharaa alachh soorano barain |
ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਬੀਨਿ ਬੀਨ ਕੈ ਸੁਧੀਨ ਪਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਧਰੈਂ ॥੪੩੯॥

The heavenly damsels, also being pleased, began to wed the warriors catching their hands after selecting them.439.
ਸਨਧ ਬਧ ਅਧ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਿਰੁਧਿ ਸੂਰ ਧਾਵਹੀਂ ॥
sanadh badh adh hvai birudh soor dhaavaheen |
ਸੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸਾਗ ਤੀਛਣੰ ਕਿ ਤਾਕਿ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਲਾਵਹੀਂ ॥
su krodh saag teechhanan ki taak satru laavaheen |
The warriors, getting bedecked, fell on the direction of the opponents and striking sharp lances on the enemies
ਸੁ ਜੂਝਿ ਜੂਝ ਕੈ ਗਿਰੈ ਅਲੂਝ ਲੂਝ ਕੈ ਹਠੀਂ ॥
su joojh joojh kai girai aloojh loojh kai hattheen |
ਅਬੂਝ ਓਰਿ ਧਾਵਹੀ ਬਨਾਇ ਸੈਨ ਏਕਠੀਂ ॥੪੪੦॥
aboojh or dhaavahee banaae sain ekattheen |440|
The persistent fighters are falling down after continued fighting and gathering their forces, are running in various directions here and there.440.

ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ॥
dhan dhan sat purakh satiguroo hamaaraa jit miliai ham kau saant aaee |
Blessed, blessed is the True Being, my True Guru; meeting Him, I have found peace.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

Blessed, blessed is the True Being, my True Guru; meeting Him, I have attained the Lord's devotional worship.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
dhan dhan har bhagat satiguroo hamaaraa jis kee sevaa te ham har naam liv laaee |
Blessed, blessed is the Lord's devotee, my True Guru; serving Him, I have come to enshrine love for the Name of the Lord.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਸਮ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
dhan dhan har giaanee satiguroo hamaaraa jin vairee mitru ham kau sabh sam drisatt dikhaaee |
Blessed, blessed is the Knower of the Lord, my True Guru; He has taught me to look upon friend and foe alike.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੧੯॥

Blessed, blessed is the True Guru, my best friend; He has led me to embrace love for the Name of the Lord. ||19||

ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮੁੰਧਿ ਵਿਦੇਸਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਝੂਰੇ ਸੰਮ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥
ghar hee mundh vides pir nit jhoore samhaale |
The soul-bride is at home, while the Husband Lord is away; she cherishes His memory, and mourns His absence.
ਮਿਲਦਿਆ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਨੀਅਤਿ ਰਾਸਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
miladiaa dtil na hovee je neeat raas kare |1|
She shall meet Him without delay, if she rids herself of duality. ||1||

First Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਲੀ ਕੂੜੀਆ ਬਾਝੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
naanak gaalee koorreea baajh pareet karee |
O Nanak, false is the speech of one who acts without loving the Lord.
ਤਿਚਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਲੇਵੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
tichar jaanai bhalaa kar jichar levai dee |2|
He judges things to be good, only as long as the Lord gives and he receives. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਜੀਅ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥
jin upaae jeea tin har raakhiaa |
The Lord, who created the creatures, also protects them.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
amrit sachaa naau bhojan chaakhiaa |
I have tasted the food of Ambrosial Nectar, the True Name.
ਤਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ਮਿਟੀ ਭਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
tipat rahe aaghaae mittee bhabhaakhiaa |
I am satisfied and satiated, and my hunger is appeased.
ਸਭ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਖਿਆ ॥
sabh andar ik varatai kinai viralai laakhiaa |
The One Lord is pervading in all, but rare are those who realize this.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪਾਖਿਆ ॥੨੦॥
jan naanak bhe nihaal prabh kee paakhiaa |20|
Servant Nanak is enraptured, in the Protection of God. ||20||

Salok, Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
satigur no sabh ko vekhadaa jetaa jagat sansaar |
All the living beings of the world behold the True Guru.
ਡਿਠੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
dditthai mukat na hovee jichar sabad na kare veechaar |
One is not liberated by merely seeing Him, unless one contemplates the Word of His Shabad.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
haumai mail na chukee naam na lagai piaar |
The filth of ego is not removed, and he does not enshrine love for the Naam.
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
eik aape bakhas milaaeian dubidhaa taj vikaar |
The Lord forgives some, and unites them with Himself; they forsake their duality and sinful ways.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
naanak ik darasan dekh mar mile satigur het piaar |1|
O Nanak, some behold the Blessed Vision of the True Guru's Darshan, with love and affection; conquering their ego, they meet with the Lord. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰਿ ॥
satiguroo na sevio moorakh andh gavaar |
The foolish, blind clown does not serve the True Guru.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਲਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
doojai bhaae bahut dukh laagaa jalataa kare pukaar |
In love with duality, he endures terrible suffering, and burning, he cries out in pain.
ਜਿਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਨ ਉਪਕਰੇ ਅੰਤੀ ਵਾਰ ॥
jin kaaran guroo visaariaa se na upakare antee vaar |
He forgets the Guru, for the sake of mere objects, but they will not come to his rescue in the end.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
naanak guramatee sukh paaeaa bakhase bakhasanahaar |2|
Through the Guru's Instructions, Nanak has found peace; the Forgiving Lord has forgiven him. ||2||

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਵਰੋ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
too aape aap aap sabh karataa koee doojaa hoe su avaro kaheeai |
You Yourself, all by Yourself, are the Creator of all. If there were any other, then I would speak of another.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲੈ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
har aape bolai aap bulaavai har aape jal thal rav raheeai |
The Lord Himself speaks, and causes us to speak; He Himself is pervading the water and the land.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਛੋਡੈ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ਪੜਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
har aape maarai har aape chhoddai man har saranee parr raheeai |
The Lord Himself destroys, and the Lord Himself saves. O mind, seek and remain in the Lord's Sanctuary.
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਮਨ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਚਿੰਦ ਨਿਸਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
har bin koee maar jeevaal na sakai man hoe nichind nisal hoe raheeai |
Other than the Lord, no one can kill or rejuvenate. O mind, do not be anxious - remain fearless.
ਉਠਦਿਆ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ
