ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥

Salok:

ਕਿਆ ਸੁਣੇਦੋ ਕੂੜੁ ਵੰਞਨਿ ਪਵਣ ਝੁਲਾਰਿਆ ॥

kiaa sunedo koorr vanyan pavan jhulaariaa |

Why do you listen to falsehood? It shall vanish like a gust of wind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣੀਅਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜੋ ਸੁਣੇਦੇ ਸਚੁ ਧਣੀ ॥੧॥

naanak suneear te paravaan jo sunede sach dhanee |1|

O Nanak, those ears are acceptable, which listen to the True Master. ||1||

Chhant:

ਤਿਨ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

tin ghol ghumaaee jin prabh sravanee suniaa raam |

I am a sacrifice to those who listen with their ears to the Lord God.

ਸੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

se sehaj suhele jin har har rasanaa bhaniaa raam |

Blissful and comfortable are those, who with their tongues chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਸੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਗੁਣਹ ਅਮੋਲੇ ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਆਏ ॥

se sehaj suhele gunah amole jagat udhaaran aae |

They are naturally embellished, with priceless virtues; they have come to save the world.

ਭੈ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਣਾ ਕੇਤੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਏ ॥

bhai bohith saagar prabh charanaa kete paar laghaae |

God's Feet are the boat, which carries so many across the terrifying world-ocean.

ਜਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨ ਗਣਿਆ ॥

jin knau kripaa karee merai tthaakur tin kaa lekhaa na ganiaa |

Those who are blessed with the favor of my Lord and Master, are not asked to render their account.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ॥੧॥

kahu naanak tis ghol ghumaaee jin prabh sravanee suniaa |1|

Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who listen to God with their ears. ||1||

Salok:

ਲੋਇਣ ਲੋਈ ਡਿਠ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਬੁਝੈ ਮੂ ਘਣੀ ॥

loein loee dditth piaas na bujhai moo ghanee |

With my eyes, I have seen the Light of the Lord, but my great thirst is not quenched.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਅਖੜੀਆਂ ਬਿਅੰਨਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਡਿਸੰਦੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥

naanak se akharreean bian jinee ddisando maa piree |1|

O Nanak, those eyes are different, which behold my Husband Lord. ||1||

Chhant:

ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

jinee har prabh dditthaa tin kurabaane raam |

I am a sacrifice to those who have seen the Lord God.

ਸੇ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਭਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

se saachee daragah bhaane raam |

In the True Court of the Lord, they are approved.

ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ਸੇ ਪਰਧਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

tthaakur maane se paradhaane har setee rang raate |

They are approved by their Lord and Master, and acclaimed as supreme; they are imbued with the Lord's Love.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਅਘਾਏ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਜਾਤੇ ॥

har raseh aghaae sehaj samaae ghatt ghatt rameea jaate |

They are satiated with the sublime essence of the Lord, and they merge in celestial peace; in each and every heart, they see the all-pervading Lord.

ਸੇਈ ਸਜਣ ਸੰਤ ਸੇ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਪਣੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥

seee sajan sant se sukhee tthaakur apane bhaane |

They alone are the friendly Saints, and they alone are happy, who are pleasing to their Lord and Master.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੇ ॥੨॥

kahu naanak jin har prabh dditthaa tin kai sad kurabaane |2|

Says Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to those who have seen the Lord God. ||2||

Salok:

ਦੇਹ ਅੰਧਾਰੀ ਅੰਧ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੀਆ ॥

deh andhaaree andh sunyee naam vihooneea |

The body is blind, totally blind and desolate, without the Naam.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਫਲ ਜਨੰਮੁ ਜੈ ਘਟਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਸਚੁ ਧਣੀ ॥੧॥

naanak safal janam jai ghatt vutthaa sach dhanee |1|

O Nanak, fruitful is the life of that being, within whose heart the True Lord and Master abides. ||1||

Chhant:

ਤਿਨ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਵੰਞਾਂ ਜਿਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

tin khaneeai vanyaan jin meraa har prabh ddeetthaa raam |

I am cut into pieces as a sacrifice, to those who have seen my Lord God.

ਜਨ ਚਾਖਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

jan chaakh aghaane har har amrit meetthaa raam |

His humble servants partake of the Sweet Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, Har, Har, and are satiated.

ਹਰਿ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੂਠਾ ਅਮਿਉ ਵੂਠਾ ਸੁਖ ਭਏ ॥

har maneh meetthaa prabhoo tootthaa amiau vootthaa sukh bhe |

The Lord seems sweet to their minds; God is merciful to them, His Ambrosial Nectar rains down upon them, and they are at peace.

ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਈਸਹ ਜੈ ਜਏ ॥

dukh naas bharam binaas tan te jap jagadees eesah jai je |

Pain is eliminated and doubt is dispelled from the body; chanting the Name of the Lord of the World, their victory is celebrated.

ਮੋਹ ਰਹਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਥਾਕੇ ਪੰਚ ਤੇ ਸੰਗੁ ਤੂਟਾ ॥

moh rehat bikaar thaake panch te sang toottaa |

They are rid of emotional attachment, their sins are erased, and their association with the five passions is broken off.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਵੰਞਾ ਜਿਨ ਘਟਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੩॥

kahu naanak tin khaneeai vanyaa jin ghatt meraa har prabh vootthaa |3|

Says Nanak, I am every bit a sacrifice to those, within whose hearts my Lord God abides. ||3||
