Fifth Mehl:
ਘਟਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪੈ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
ghatt vaseh charanaarabind rasanaa japai gupaal |
Let the Lotus Feet of the Lord abide within your heart, and with your tongue, chant God's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਕਉ ਪਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
naanak so prabh simareeai tis dehee kau paal |2|
O Nanak, meditate in remembrance on God, and nurture this body. ||2||

Pauree:
ਆਪੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
aape atthasatth teerath karataa aap kare isanaan |
The Creator Himself is the sixty-eight sacred places of pilgrimage; He Himself takes the cleansing bath in them.
ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
aape sanjam varatai svaamee aap japaaeihi naam |
He Himself practices austere self-discipline; the Lord Master Himself causes us to chant His Name.
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਉ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
aap deaal hoe bhau khanddan aap karai sabh daan |
He Himself becomes merciful to us; the Destroyer of fear Himself gives in charity to all.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jis no guramukh aap bujhaae so sad hee darageh paae maan |
One whom He has enlightened and made Gurmukh, ever obtains honor in His Court.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧੪॥
jis dee paij rakhai har suaamee so sachaa har jaan |14|
One whose honor the Lord Master has preserved, comes to know the True Lord. ||14||

Salok, Third Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਗੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਧੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
naanak bin satigur bhette jag andh hai andhe karam kamaae |
O Nanak, without meeting the True Guru, the world is blind, and it does blind deeds.
ਸਬਦੈ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਵਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
sabadai siau chit na laavee jit sukh vasai man aae |
It does not focus its consciousness on the Word of the Shabad, which would bring peace to abide in the mind.
ਤਾਮਸਿ ਲਗਾ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਲਤੁ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
taamas lagaa sadaa firai ahinis jalat bihaae |
Always afflicted with the dark passions of low energy, it wanders around, passing its days and nights burning.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
jo tis bhaavai so theeai kahanaa kichhoo na jaae |1|
Whatever pleases Him, comes to pass; no one has any say in this. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰੀ ਏਹ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥
satiguroo furamaaeaa kaaree eeh karehu |
The True Guru has commanded us to do this:
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮਾਲੇਹੁ ॥
guroo duaarai hoe kai saahib samaalehu |
through the Guru's Gate, meditate on the Lord Master.
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਭਰਮੈ ਕੇ ਛਉੜ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥
saahib sadaa hajoor hai bharamai ke chhaurr katt kai antar jot dharehu |
The Lord Master is ever-present. He tears away the veil of doubt, and installs His Light within the mind.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਏਹੁ ਲਾਏਹੁ ॥
har kaa naam amrit hai daaroo ehu laaehu |
The Name of the Lord is Ambrosial Nectar - take this healing medicine!
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
satigur kaa bhaanaa chit rakhahu sanjam sachaa nehu |
Enshrine the Will of the True Guru in your consciousness, and make the True Lord's Love your self-discipline.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਖਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥੨॥
naanak aithai sukhai andar rakhasee agai har siau kel karehu |2|
O Nanak, you shall be kept in peace here, and hereafter, you shall celebrate with the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:
ਆਪੇ ਭਾਰ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਬਣਸਪਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਲਾਏ ॥
aape bhaar atthaarah banasapat aape hee fal laae |
He Himself is the vast variety of Nature, and He Himself makes it bear fruit.
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਸਿੰਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
aape maalee aap sabh sinchai aape hee muhi paae |
He Himself is the Gardener, He Himself irrigates all the plants, and He Himself puts them in His mouth.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥
aape karataa aape bhugataa aape dee divaae |
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer; He Himself gives, and causes others to give.
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
aape saahib aape hai raakhaa aape rahiaa samaae |
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the Protector; He Himself is permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਏ ॥੧੫॥
jan naanak vaddiaaee aakhai har karate kee jis no til na tamaae |15|
Servant Nanak speaks of the greatness of the Lord, the Creator, who has no greed at all. ||15||

Salok, Third Mehl:
ਮਾਣਸੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਣਿਆ ਮਾਣਸੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਇ ॥
maanas bhariaa aaniaa maanas bhariaa aae |
One person brings a full bottle, and another fills his cup.
ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਰਲੁ ਪਵੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਇ ॥
jit peetai mat door hoe baral pavai vich aae |
Drinking the wine, his intelligence departs, and madness enters his mind;
ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਈ ਖਸਮਹੁ ਧਕੇ ਖਾਇ ॥
aapanaa paraaeaa na pachhaanee khasamahu dhake khaae |
he cannot distinguish between his own and others, and he is struck down by his Lord and Master.
ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
jit peetai khasam visarai daragah milai sajaae |
Drinking it, he forgets his Lord and Master, and he is punished in the Court of the Lord.
ਝੂਠਾ ਮਦੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਪੀਚਈ ਜੇ ਕਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
jhootthaa mad mool na peechee je kaa paar vasaae |
Do not drink the false wine at all, if it is in your power.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਇ ॥
naanak nadaree sach mad paaeeai satigur milai jis aae |
O Nanak, the True Guru comes and meets the mortal; by His Grace, one obtains the True Wine.
ਸਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਹੈ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵੈ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
sadaa saahib kai rang rahai mahalee paavai thaau |1|
He shall dwell forever in the Love of the Lord Master, and obtain a seat in the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਜਾ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
eihu jagat jeevat marai jaa is no sojhee hoe |
When this world comes to understand, it remains dead while yet alive.
ਜਾ ਤਿਨੑਿ ਸਵਾਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਗਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa tina savaaliaa taan sav rahiaa jagaae taan sudh hoe |
When the Lord puts him to sleep, he remains asleep; when He wakes him up, he regains consciousness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
naanak nadar kare je aapanee satigur melai soe |
O Nanak, when the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, He causes him to meet the True Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
gur prasaad jeevat marai taa fir maran na hoe |2|
By Guru's Grace, remain dead while yet alive, and you shall not have to die again. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
jis daa keetaa sabh kichh hovai tis no paravaah naahee kisai keree |
By His doing, everything happens; what does He care for anyone else?
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਖਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਕਢੈ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
har jeeo teraa ditaa sabh ko khaavai sabh muhataajee kadtai teree |
O Dear Lord, everyone eats whatever You give - all are subservient to You.
ਜਿ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
ji tudh no saalaahe su sabh kichh paavai jis no kirapaa niranjan keree |
One who praises You obtains everything; You bestow Your Mercy upon him, O Immaculate Lord.
ਸੋਈ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
soee saahu sachaa vanajaaraa jin vakhar ladiaa har naam dhan teree |
He alone is a true banker and trader, who loads the merchandise of the wealth of the Your Name, O Lord.
ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਵ ਕੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰੀ ਢੇਰੀ ॥੧੬॥
sabh tisai no saalaahihu santahu jin dooje bhaav kee maar viddaaree dteree |16|
O Saints, let everyone praise the Lord, who has destroyed the pile of the love of duality. ||16||
