Forbidden works will always be performed
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਧਰਮਣੋ ਤ੍ਰੀਅੰ ਕੁਨਾਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਜੋਹਿਗੇ ॥
tiaag dharamano treean kunaar saadh johige |
The saints abandoning the path of dharma, will look for the path of prostitutes
ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਤੰ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਧੋਹਿਗੇ ॥
pavitr chitr chitratan bachitr mitr dhohige |
The friendship of a queer type will wash and destroy the sanctity of friendship
ਅਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਾਵਣੋ ਸੁਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਹਿਗੇ ॥੨੬॥

The friends and enemies will go together for their self-interest.26.
ਕਲ੍ਰਯੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਕਰੰਮਣੋ ਅਭਛ ਭਛ ਜਾਹਿਗੇ ॥
kalrayan kritan karamano abhachh bhachh jaahige |
ਅਕਜ ਕਜਣੋ ਨਰੰ ਅਧਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਪਾਹਿਗੇ ॥
akaj kajano naran adharam dharam paahige |
Amongst the works of the Iron Age will be the eating of the uneatables, the things worth concealing will come in the open and the dharma will be realise dform the paths of unrighteousness
ਸੁਧਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਧੋਹਿ ਹੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਧਰਾ ਧਰੇਸਣੰ ॥
sudharam dharam dhohi hai dhritan dharaa dharesanan |
The kings of the earth will do the work of destroying dharma
ਅਧਰਮ ਧਰਮਣੋ ਧ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਕੁਕਰਮ ਕਰਮਣੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ॥੨੭॥
adharam dharamano dhritan kukaram karamano kritan |27|
The life of adharma will be considered authentic and the bad actions will be considered worth doing.27.
ਕਿ ਉਲੰਘਿ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮਣੋ ਅਧਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਬਿਆਪ ਹੈ ॥
ki ulangh dharam karamano adharam dharam biaap hai |
The people will neglect religion and the bad religious path will prevail everywhere
ਸੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਗਿ ਜਾਪਣੋ ਅਜੋਗ ਜਾਪ ਜਾਪ ਹੈ ॥
su tiaag jag jaapano ajog jaap jaap hai |
Forsaking the Yajnas and the repetition of the Name, people will repeat the worthless mantras
ਸੁ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮਣੰ ਭਯੋ ਅਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਰਭ੍ਰਮੰ ॥
su dharam karamanan bhayo adharam karam nirabhraman |
They will unhesitatingly consider the actions of adharma as dharma
ਸੁ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਕ੍ਰਤੰ ਚਿਤੰ ਅਸਾਧ ਨਿਰਭਯੰ ਡੁਲੰ ॥੨੮॥
su saadh sankratan chitan asaadh nirabhayan ddulan |28|
The saints will roam with dubious mind and the wicked people will move fearlessly.28.
ਅਧਰਮ ਕਰਮਣੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਸੁ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮਣੋ ਤਜੰ ॥
adharam karamano kritan su dharam karamano tajan |
The people will perform the actions of adharma, abandoning the actions of dharma
ਪ੍ਰਹਰਖ ਬਰਖਣੰ ਧਨੰ ਨ ਕਰਖ ਸਰਬਤੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੰ ॥
praharakh barakhanan dhanan na karakh sarabato nripan |
The kings will forsake the weapons of bow and arrows
ਅਕਜ ਕਜਣੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਲਜ ਸਰਬਤੋ ਫਿਰੰ ॥
akaj kajano kritan nrilaj sarabato firan |
Making the announcement of wicked action, the people .will roam unashamedly
ਅਨਰਥ ਬਰਤਿਤੰ ਭੂਅੰ ਨ ਅਰਥ ਕਥਤੰ ਨਰੰ ॥੨੯॥
anarath baratitan bhooan na arath kathatan naran |29|
There will be misconduct on the earth and the people will perform useless tasks.29.

ਬਰਨ ਹੈ ਅਬਰਨ ਕੋ ॥

ਛਾਡਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨ ਕੋ ॥੩੦॥

Castelessness will be the caste and all will forsake the refuge of the Lord.30.
ਛਾਡਿ ਸੁਭ ਸਾਜ ਕੋ ॥
chhaadd subh saaj ko |
ਲਾਗ ਹੈ ਅਕਾਜ ਕੋ ॥੩੧॥
laag hai akaaj ko |31|
All the people will forsake good actions and will absorb themselves in wicked actions.31.
ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ॥
tayaag hai naam ko |
ਲਾਗ ਹੈ ਕਾਮ ਕੋ ॥੩੨॥
laag hai kaam ko |32|
All of them will abandon the remembrance of the name of the Lord, and will remain absorbed in sexual enjoyment.32.
ਲਾਜ ਕੋ ਛੋਰ ਹੈ ॥
laaj ko chhor hai |
ਦਾਨਿ ਮੁਖ ਮੋਰ ਹੈ ॥੩੩॥
daan mukh mor hai |33|
They will not feel shy (of the wicked acts) and will refrain from the bestowal of charity. 33
ਚਰਨ ਨਹੀ ਧਿਆਇ ਹੈ ॥
charan nahee dhiaae hai |
ਦੁਸਟ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਹੈ ॥੩੪॥
dusatt gat paae hai |34|
They will not meditate on the feet of the lord and only the tyrants will be hailed .34.
ਨਰਕ ਕਹੁ ਜਾਹਿਗੇ ॥

ਅੰਤਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਹਿਗੇ ॥੩੫॥
ant pachhutaahige |35|
All of them will go to hell and untimately repent.35.
ਧਰਮ ਕਹਿ ਖੋਹਿਗੇ ॥
dharam keh khohige |
ਪਾਪ ਕਰ ਰੋਹਿਗੈ ॥੩੬॥
paap kar rohigai |36|
All of them will ultimately repent on losing dharma.36.
ਨਰਕਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਬਾਸ ਹੈ ॥
narak pun baas hai |
ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
traas jam traas hai |37|
They will abide in hell and the messengers of Yama will frighten them.37.

ਅਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਕੈ ਹੈ ॥

ਨ ਭੂਲ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥

Performing wicked deeds, the people will not even by mistake remember the name of the Lord
ਕਿਸੂ ਨ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹਿਗੇ ॥

ਸੁ ਸਾਧ ਲੂਟਿ ਲੇਹਿਗੇ ॥੩੮॥
su saadh loott lehige |38|
They will not give alms, but otherwise will loot the saints.38.
ਨ ਦੇਹ ਫੇਰਿ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
n deh fer lai kai |
ਨ ਦੇਹ ਦਾਨ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
n deh daan kai kai |
They will not return the borrowed debt-money and will even give the promised amount in charity
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੌ ਨ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
har naam kau na lai hai |
ਬਿਸੇਖ ਨਰਕਿ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੩੯॥
bisekh narak jai hai |39|
They will not remember the Name of the Lord and such persons will specially be sent to hell.39.
ਨ ਧਰਮ ਠਾਢਿ ਰਹਿ ਹੈ ॥
n dharam tthaadt reh hai |
ਕਰੈ ਨ ਜਉਨ ਕਹਿ ਹੈ ॥
karai na jaun keh hai |
They will not remain stable in their religion and will not do in accordance with their utterance
ਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਾਤ ਸੰਗਾ ॥

ਅਧੀਨ ਅਰਧੰਗਾ ॥੪੦॥
adheen aradhangaa |40|
They will have no affection for their mother and the people will become subservient to their wives.40.
ਅਭਛ ਭਛ ਭਛੈ ॥
abhachh bhachh bhachhai |
ਅਕਛ ਕਾਛ ਕਛੈ ॥
akachh kaachh kachhai |
The uneatable will be eaten and people will visit the unworthy places
ਅਭਾਖ ਬੈਨ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
abhaakh bain bhaakhai |
ਕਿਸੂ ਨ ਕਾਣਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥੪੧॥
kisoo na kaan raakhai |41|
The people will utter the unutterable words and will not care for anybody.41.
ਅਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਹੈ ॥
adharam karam kar hai |
ਨ ਤਾਤ ਮਾਤ ਡਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
n taat maat ddar hai |
ਕੁਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੈ ਹੈ ॥
kumantr mantr kai hai |
ਸੁਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਨ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥੪੨॥
sumantr ko na lai hai |42|
They will peroform unrighteous acts and will not have any advice and will not seek good advice.42.
ਅਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਕੈ ਹੈ ॥
adharam karam kai hai |
ਸੁ ਭਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਖੁਐ ਹੈ ॥
su bharam dharam khuai hai |
They will perform acts of unrighteousness and will lose their dharma in illusions
ਸੁ ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸਿ ਫਸ ਹੈ ॥
su kaal faas fas hai |
ਨਿਦਾਨ ਨਰਕ ਬਸਿ ਹੈ ॥੪੩॥
nidaan narak bas hai |43|
Thy will be entrapped in the noose of Yama and untimately reside in hell.43.
ਕੁਕਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

ਸੁਧਰਮ ਛਾਡਿ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
sudharam chhaadd bhaage |
ਕਮਾਤ ਨਿਤ ਪਾਪੰ ॥

ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਜਾਪੰ ॥੪੪॥
bisaar sarab jaapan |44|
The people being engrossed in misconduct will abandon disciplines and engross themselves in sinful actions.44.
ਸੁ ਮਦ ਮੋਹ ਮਤੇ ॥
su mad moh mate |
ਸੁ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਕੁਪਤੇ ॥
su karam ke kupate |
ਸੁ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਰਾਚੇ ॥
su kaam krodh raache |
ਉਤਾਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਨਾਚੇ ॥੪੫॥
autaar laaj naache |45|
The people intoxicated with wine and attachment will perform uncivilised acts and being absorbed in lust and anger, they will dance unashamedly.45.

ਕਬੀਰਾ ਮਰਤਾ ਮਰਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਮੁਆ ਮਰਿ ਭਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
kabeeraa marataa marataa jag muaa mar bhi na jaanai koe |
Kabeer, the world is dying - dying to death, but no one knows how to truly die.
ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
aisee maranee jo marai bahur na maranaa hoe |1|
Whoever dies, let him die such a death, that he does not have to die again. ||1||

ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਵ ਮਰਹਗੇ ਕੈਸਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

What do I know? How will I die? What sort of death will it be?
ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਹਿਲਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
je kar saahib manahu na veesarai taa sahilaa maranaa hoe |
If I do not forget the Lord Master from my mind, then my death will be easy.
ਮਰਣੈ ਤੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਡਰੈ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਲੋੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
maranai te jagat ddarai jeeviaa lorrai sabh koe |
The world is terrified of death; everyone longs to live.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
gur parasaadee jeevat marai hukamai boojhai soe |
By Guru's Grace, one who dies while yet alive, understands the Lord's Will.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਦ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak aisee maranee jo marai taa sad jeevan hoe |2|
O Nanak, one who dies such a death, lives forever. ||2||

ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਆਪਣਾਂ ਨਾਉ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥
jaa aap kripaal hovai har suaamee taa aapanaan naau har aap japaavai |
When the Lord Master Himself becomes merciful, the Lord Himself causes His Name to be chanted.
ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਣਾਂ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
aape satigur mel sukh devai aapanaan sevak aap har bhaavai |
He Himself causes us to meet the True Guru, and blesses us with peace. His servant is pleasing to the Lord.
ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੇਵਕਾ ਕੀ ਆਪਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਣਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
aapaniaa sevakaa kee aap paij rakhai aapaniaa bhagataa kee pairee paavai |
He Himself preserves the honor of His servants; He causes others to fall at the feet of His devotees.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
dharam raae hai har kaa keea har jan sevak nerr na aavai |
The Righteous Judge of Dharma is a creation of the Lord; he does not approach the humble servant of the Lord.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧੭॥
jo har kaa piaaraa so sabhanaa kaa piaaraa hor ketee jhakh jhakh aavai jaavai |17|
One who is dear to the Lord, is dear to all; so many others come and go in vain. ||17||

Salok, Third Mehl:
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
raam raam karataa sabh jag firai raam na paaeaa jaae |
The entire world roams around, chanting, "Raam, Raam, Lord, Lord", but the Lord cannot be obtained like this.
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਵਡਾ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਨ ਤੁਲਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
agam agochar at vaddaa atul na tuliaa jaae |
He is inaccessible, unfathomable and so very great; He is unweighable, and cannot be weighed.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
keemat kinai na paaeea kitai na leaa jaae |
No one can evaluate Him; He cannot be purchased at any price.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿਆ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
gur kai sabad bhediaa in bidh vasiaa man aae |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, His mystery is known; in this way, He comes to dwell in the mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਅਮੇਉ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
naanak aap ameo hai gur kirapaa te rahiaa samaae |
O Nanak, He Himself is infinite; by Guru's Grace, He is known to be permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
aape miliaa mil rahiaa aape miliaa aae |1|
He Himself comes to blend, and having blended, remains blended. ||1||

ਏ ਮਨ ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
e man ihu dhan naam hai jit sadaa sadaa sukh hoe |
O my soul, this is the wealth of the Naam; through it, comes peace, forever and ever.
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
tottaa mool na aavee laahaa sad hee hoe |
It never brings any loss; through it, one earns profits forever.
ਖਾਧੈ ਖਰਚਿਐ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਓਹੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
khaadhai kharachiai tott na aavee sadaa sadaa ohu dee |
Eating and spending it, it never decreases; He continues to give, forever and ever.
ਸਹਸਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਾਣਤ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
sahasaa mool na hovee haanat kade na hoe |
One who has no skepticism at all never suffers humiliation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨॥
naanak guramukh paaeeai jaa kau nadar karee |2|
O Nanak, the Gurmukh obtains the Name of the Lord, when the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
aape sabh ghatt andare aape hee baahar |
He Himself is deep within all hearts, and He Himself is outside them.
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਹਰਿ ॥
aape gupat varatadaa aape hee jaahar |
He Himself is prevailing unmanifest, and He Himself is manifest.
ਜੁਗ ਛਤੀਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਸੁੰਨਾਹਰਿ ॥
jug chhateeh gubaar kar varatiaa sunaahar |
For thirty-six ages, He created the darkness, abiding in the void.
ਓਥੈ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਨ ਸਾਸਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਰਹਰਿ ॥
othai ved puraan na saasataa aape har narahar |
There were no Vedas, Puraanas or Shaastras there; only the Lord Himself existed.
ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
baitthaa taarree laae aap sabh doo hee baahar |
He Himself sat in the absolute trance, withdrawn from everything.
ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗਉਹਰੁ ॥੧੮॥
aapanee mit aap jaanadaa aape hee gauhar |18|
Only He Himself knows His state; He Himself is the unfathomable ocean. ||18||

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੁਆ ਮਰਦੋ ਮਰਦਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
haumai vich jagat muaa marado maradaa jaae |
In egotism, the world is dead; it dies and dies, again and again.
ਜਿਚਰੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿ ਕਰੇਗੁ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
jichar vich dam hai tichar na chetee ki kareg agai jaae |
As long as there is breath in the body, he does not remember the Lord; what will he do in the world hereafter?
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਚੇਤੰਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
giaanee hoe su chetan hoe agiaanee andh kamaae |
One who remembers the Lord is a spiritual teacher; the ignorant one acts blindly.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਅਗੈ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak ethai kamaavai so milai agai paae jaae |1|
O Nanak, whatever one does in this world, determines what he shall receive in the world hereafter. ||1||
