ਤੁਰੀ ਸੰਖ ਬਾਜੇ ॥

ਮਹਾ ਬੀਰ ਸਾਜੇ ॥

The trumpet and conch resound and the great warriors look impressive.

ਨਚੇ ਤੁੰਦ ਤਾਜੀ ॥

nache tund taajee |

ਮਚੇ ਸੂਰ ਗਾਜੀ ॥੧੯॥

The swift-running horses dance and the brave warriors are excited.19.

ਝਿਮੀ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਗੰ ॥

jhimee tej tegan |

ਮਨੋ ਬਿੱਜ ਬੇਗੰ ॥

mano bij began |

The glistening sharp swords flash like lightning.

ਉਠੈ ਨੱਦ ਨਾਦੰ ॥

autthai nad naadan |

ਧੁਨੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਬਿਖਾਦੰ ॥੨੦॥

dhunan nribikhaadan |20|

The sound of drums arises and is heard continuously. 20.

ਤੁਟੈ ਖੱਗ ਖੋਲੰ ॥

tuttai khag kholan |

ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਬੋਲੰ ॥

mukhan maar bolan |

Somewhere the double-edged swords and helmets lie broken, somewhere the warriors shout “kill, kill”.

ਧਕਾ ਧੀਕ ਧੱਕੰ ॥

dhakaa dheek dhakan |

ਗਿਰੇ ਹੱਕ ਬੱਕੰ ॥੨੧॥

gire hak bakan |21|

Somewhere the warriors are forcefully knocked about and somewhere, being puzzled, they have fallen down. 21.

ਦਲੰ ਦੀਹ ਗਾਹੰ ॥

dalan deeh gaahan |

ਅਧੋ ਅੰਗ ਲਾਹੰ ॥

adho ang laahan |

The great army is being trampled and limbs are being chopped into halves.

ਪ੍ਰਯੋਘੰ ਪਰਹਾਰੰ ॥

prayoghan parahaaran |

ਬਕੈ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥੨੨॥

bakai maar maaran |22|

The long steel maces are struck and the shouts of “kill, kill” are raised.22.

ਨਦੀ ਰਕਤ ਪੂਰੰ ॥

nadee rakat pooran |

ਫਿਰੀ ਗੈਣ ਹੂਰੰ ॥

firee gain hooran |

The stream of blood is full and the houris walk over the sky.

ਗਜੈ ਗੈਣ ਕਾਲੀ ॥

gajai gain kaalee |

ਹਸੀ ਖੱਪਰਾਲੀ ॥੨੩॥

hasee khaparaalee |23|

The goddess Kali is thundering in the sky and the vamps are laughing.23.

ਮਹਾ ਸੂਰ ਸੋਹੰ ॥

mahaa soor sohan |

ਮੰਡੇ ਲੋਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਹੰ ॥

mandde loh krohan |

The great warriors equipped with steel and filled with ire look impressive.

ਮਹਾਂ ਗਰਬ ਗਜਿਯੰ ॥

mahaan garab gajiyan |

ਧੁਨੰ ਮੇਘ ਲਜਿਯੰ ॥੨੪॥

dhunan megh lajiyan |24|

They roar with great pride and hearing them, the clouds feel shy.24.

ਛਕੇ ਲੋਹ ਛੱਕੰ ॥

chhake loh chhakan |

ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਬੱਕੰ ॥

mukhan maar bakan |

The warriors are adorned with steel-weapons and shout “kill, kill”.

ਮੁਖੰ ਮੁੱਛ ਬੰਕੰ ॥

mukhan muchh bankan |

ਭਿਰੇ ਛਾਡ ਸੰਕੰ ॥੨੫॥

bhire chhaadd sankan |25|

They have slanting whiskers on their faces and fight without caring for their life. 25.

ਹਕੰ ਹਾਕ ਬਾਜੀ ॥

hakan haak baajee |

ਘਿਰੀ ਸੈਣ ਸਾਜੀ ॥

ghiree sain saajee |

There are shouts and the army hath laid the siege.

ਚਿਰੇ ਚਾਰ ਢੂਕੇ ॥

chire chaar dtooke |

ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੂਕੇ ॥੨੬॥

mukhan maar kooke |26|

In great anger the warriors rush from all sides shouting “kill, kill”.26.

ਰੁਕੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਾਂਗੰ ॥

ruke soor saangan |

ਮਨੋ ਸਿੰਧ ਗੰਗੰ ॥

mano sindh gangan |

The warriors are meeting with their lances like the Ganges with the sea.

ਢਹੇ ਨਾਲ ਢੱਕੰ ॥

dtahe naal dtakan |

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ ਕੜੱਕੰ ॥੨੭॥

kripaanan karrakan |27|

Many of them under cover of their shields even break the striking swards with cracking sound.27.

ਹਕੰ ਹਾਕ ਬਾਜੀ ॥

hakan haak baajee |

ਨਚੇ ਤੁੰਦ ਤਾਜੀ ॥

nache tund taajee |

There are shouts after shouts and the swift-running horses dance.

ਭਿਰੇ ਰੋਸ ਜਾਗੇ ॥੨੮॥

The warriors are highly ferocious and are fighting with the awakening of anger.28.

ਗਿਰੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਸੇਲੰ ॥

gire sudh selan |

ਭਈ ਰੇਲ ਪੇਲੰ ॥

bhee rel pelan |

The sharp lances have fallen down and there is great knocking.

ਪਲੰਹਾਰ ਨੱਚੇ ॥

palanhaar nache |

ਰਣੰ ਬੀਰ ਮੱਚੇ ॥੨੯॥

ranan beer mache |29|

The eaters of flesh are dancing and the warriors are engaged in hot war.29.

ਹਸੇ ਮਾਸਹਾਰੀ ॥

hase maasahaaree |

ਨਚੇ ਭੂਤ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

nache bhoot bhaaree |

The flesh-eating creatures are laughing and the gangs of ghosts are dancing.

ਮਹਾ ਢੀਠ ਢੂਕੇ ॥

ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੂਕੇ ॥੩੦॥

mukhan maar kooke |30|

The persistent warriors are moving forward and shouting “kill, kill”.30.

ਗਜੈ ਗੈਣ ਦੇਵੀ ॥

gajai gain devee |

ਮਹਾ ਅੰਸ ਭੇਵੀ ॥

mahaa ans bhevee |

That goddess hath roared in the sky, who hath been brought into being by Supreme KAL.

ਭਲੇ ਭੂਤ ਨਾਚੰ ॥

bhale bhoot naachan |

ਰਸੰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰਾਚੰ ॥੩੧॥

The ghosts are dancing excitedly and are saturated with great anger.31.

ਭਿਰੈ ਬੈਰ ਰੁੱਝੈ ॥

bhirai bair rujhai |

ਮਹਾ ਜੋਧ ਜੁੱਝੈ ॥

mahaa jodh jujhai |

The warriors are fighting with each other because of enmity and the great heroes are falling as martyras.

ਝੰਡਾ ਗੱਡ ਗਾਢੇ ॥

jhanddaa gadd gaadte |

ਬਜੇ ਬੈਰ ਬਾਢੇ ॥੩੨॥

baje bair baadte |32|

Fixing their strong banner and with increased enemity they are shouting.32.

ਗਜੰ ਗਾਹ ਬਾਧੇ ॥

gajan gaah baadhe |

ਧਨੁਰ ਬਾਣ ਸਾਧੇ ॥

dhanur baan saadhe |

They have adorned their head with the ornament and have stretched their bows in their hands.

ਬਹੇ ਆਪ ਮੱਧੰ ॥

bahe aap madhan |

ਗਿਰੇ ਅੱਧ ਅੱਧੰ ॥੩੩॥

gire adh adhan |33|

They shoot their arrows confronting the opponents, some of them fall down, having been chopped into halves.33.

ਗਜੰ ਬਾਜ ਜੁੱਝੇ ॥

gajan baaj jujhe |

ਬਲੀ ਬੈਰ ਰੁੱਝੇ ॥

balee bair rujhe |

The elephants and horses are lying dead and the warriors engaged in enmity

ਨ੍ਰਿਭੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਹੈਂ ॥

nribhai sasatr baahain |

ਉਭੈ ਜੀਤ ਚਾਹੈਂ ॥੩੪॥

aubhai jeet chaahain |34|

Fearlessly strike their weapons; both sides wish for their victory.34.

ਗਜੇ ਆਨ ਗਾਜੀ ॥

gaje aan gaajee |

ਨਚੇ ਤੁੰਦ ਤਾਜੀ ॥

nache tund taajee |

The warriors are roaring and the swiftly-running horses dance.

ਹਕੰ ਹਾਕ ਬੱਜੀ ॥

hakan haak bajee |

ਫਿਰੈ ਸੈਨ ਭੱਜੀ ॥੩੫॥

firai sain bhajee |35|

There are shouts and in this way the army is running about. 35.

ਮਦੰ ਮੱਤ ਮਾਤੇ ॥

madan mat maate |

ਰਸੰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

rasan rudr raate |

The warriors are intoxicated with wine and are absorbed in great rage.

ਗਜੰ ਜੂਹ ਸਾਜੇ ॥

gajan jooh saaje |

ਭਿਰੇ ਰੋਸ ਬਾਜੇ ॥੩੬॥

bhire ros baaje |36|

The group of elephants are adorned and the warriors are fighting with increased anger. 36.

ਝਮੀ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਗੰ ॥

jhamee tej tegan |

ਘਣੰ ਬਿਜ ਬੇਗੰ ॥

ghanan bij began |

The sharp swords glisten like the flash of lightning in the clouds.

ਬਹੇ ਬਾਰ ਬੈਰੀ ॥

bahe baar bairee |

ਜਲੰ ਜਯੋ ਗੰਗੈਰੀ ॥੩੭॥

jalan jayo gangairee |37|

The blows are struck on the enemy like the swift-moving water-insect.37.

ਅਪੋ ਆਪ ਬਾਹੰ ॥

apo aap baahan |

ਉਭੈ ਜੀਤ ਚਾਹੰ ॥

aubhai jeet chaahan |

They strike weapons confronting each other; both sides wish for their victory.

ਮਹਾਂ ਮੱਤ ਮਾਤੇ ॥੩੮॥

mahaan mat maate |38|

They are absorbed in violent rage and are highly intoxicated.38.

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl, Sixth House:

ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਏਕੁ ਓਹੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥

karan kaaran ek ohee jin keea aakaar |

The One Lord is the Doer, the Cause of causes, who has created the creation.

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

tiseh dhiaavahu man mere sarab ko aadhaar |1|

Meditate on the One, O my mind, who is the Support of all. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

gur ke charan man meh dhiaae |

Meditate within your mind on the Guru's Feet.

ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

chhodd sagal siaanapaa saach sabad liv laae |1| rahaau |

Give up all your clever mental tricks, and lovingly attune yourself to the True Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||

ਦੁਖੁ ਕਲੇਸੁ ਨ ਭਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹੋਇ ॥

dukh kales na bhau biaapai gur mantru hiradai hoe |

Suffering, agony and fear do not cling to one whose heart is filled with the GurMantra.

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥

kott jatanaa kar rahe gur bin tario na koe |2|

Trying millions of things, people have grown weary, but without the Guru, none have been saved. ||2||

ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰੈ ਪਾਪ ਸਗਲੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

dekh darasan man saadhaarai paap sagale jaeh |

Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, the mind is comforted and all sins depart.

ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੩॥

hau tin kai balihaaranai ji gur kee pairee paeh |3|

I am a sacrifice to those who fall at the Feet of the Guru. ||3||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥

saadhasangat man vasai saach har kaa naau |

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the True Name of the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.

ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਭਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੯੪॥

se vaddabhaagee naanakaa jinaa man ihu bhaau |4|24|94|

Very fortunate are those, O Nanak, whose minds are filled with this love. ||4||24||94||

ਸੰਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪੂਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥

sanch har dhan pooj satigur chhodd sagal vikaar |

Gather in the Wealth of the Lord, worship the True Guru, and give up all your corrupt ways.

ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

jin toon saaj savaariaa har simar hoe udhaar |1|

Meditate in remembrance on the Lord who created and adorned you, and you shall be saved. ||1||

ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥

jap man naam ek apaar |

O mind, chant the Name of the One, the Unique and Infinite Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਦੀਆ ਰਿਦੇ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

praan man tan jineh deea ride kaa aadhaar |1| rahaau |

He gave you the praanaa, the breath of life, and your mind and body. He is the Support of the heart. ||1||Pause||

ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

kaam krodh ahankaar maate viaapiaa sansaar |

The world is drunk, engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism.

ਪਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

pau sant saranee laag charanee mittai dookh andhaar |2|

Seek the Sanctuary of the Saints, and fall at their feet; your suffering and darkness shall be removed. ||2||

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਏਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥

sat santokh deaa kamaavai eeh karanee saar |

Practice truth, contentment and kindness; this is the most excellent way of life.

ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਭ ਹੋਇ ਰੇਣਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

aap chhodd sabh hoe renaa jis dee prabh nirankaar |3|

One who is so blessed by the Formless Lord God renounces selfishness, and becomes the dust of all. ||3||

ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥

jo deesai so sagal toonhai pasariaa paasaar |

All that is seen is You, Lord, the expansion of the expanse.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੯੫॥

kahu naanak gur bharam kaattiaa sagal braham beechaar |4|25|95|

Says Nanak, the Guru has removed my doubts; I recognize God in all. ||4||25||95||

ਦੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਮੰਧੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਗਲਾਣਾ ॥

dukrit sukrit mandhe sansaar sagalaanaa |

The whole world is engrossed in bad deeds and good deeds.

ਦੁਹਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਭਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥

duhahoon te rehat bhagat hai koee viralaa jaanaa |1|

God's devotee is above both, but those who understand this are very rare. ||1||

ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਰਬੇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥

tthaakur sarabe samaanaa |

Our Lord and Master is all-pervading everywhere.

ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ਸੁਣਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kiaa khau sunau suaamee toon vadd purakh sujaanaa |1| rahaau |

What should I say, and what should I hear? O my Lord and Master, You are Great, All-powerful and All-knowing. ||1||Pause||

ਮਾਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਮੰਧੇ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

maan abhimaan mandhe so sevak naahee |

One who is influenced by praise and blame is not God's servant.

ਤਤ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮੰਧਾਹੀ ॥੨॥

tat samadarasee santahu koee kott mandhaahee |2|

One who sees the essence of reality with impartial vision, O Saints, is very rare-one among millions. ||2||

ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਵਨ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਲਾ ॥

kehan kahaavan ihu keerat karalaa |

People talk on and on about Him; they consider this to be praise of God.

ਕਥਨ ਕਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ॥੩॥

kathan kehan te mukataa guramukh koee viralaa |3|

But rare indeed is the Gurmukh, who is above this mere talk. ||3||

ਗਤਿ ਅਵਿਗਤਿ ਕਛੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥

gat avigat kachh nadar na aaeaa |

He is not concerned with deliverance or bondage.

ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੯੬॥

santan kee ren naanak daan paaeaa |4|26|96|

Nanak has obtained the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||26||96||

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl, Seventh House:

ਤੇਰੈ ਭਰੋਸੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੈ ਲਾਡ ਲਡਾਇਆ ॥

terai bharosai piaare mai laadd laddaaeaa |

Relying on Your Mercy, Dear Lord, I have cherished and loved you.

ਭੂਲਹਿ ਚੂਕਹਿ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

bhooleh chookeh baarik toon har pitaa maaeaa |1|

Like a foolish child, I have made mistakes. O Lord, You are my Father and Mother. ||1||

ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਹਨੁ ਕਹਾਵਨੁ ॥

suhelaa kehan kahaavan |

It is easy to speak and talk,

ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਭਾਵਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

teraa bikham bhaavan |1| rahaau |

but it is difficult to accept Your Will. ||1||Pause||

ਹਉ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਕਰਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਆਪਾ ॥

hau maan taan krau teraa hau jaanau aapaa |

I stand tall; You are my Strength. I know that You are mine.

ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮਧਿ ਸਭਹਿ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਬਾਪਾ ॥੨॥

sabh hee madh sabheh te baahar bemuhataaj baapaa |2|

Inside of all, and outside of all, You are our Self-sufficient Father. ||2||

ਪਿਤਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥

pitaa hau jaanau naahee teree kavan jugataa |

O Father, I do not know-how can I know Your Way?

ਬੰਧਨ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਮਮਤਾ ॥੩॥

bandhan mukat santahu meree raakhai mamataa |3|

He frees us from bondage, O Saints, and saves us from possessiveness. ||3||

ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਰਹਿਓ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥

bhe kirapaal tthaakur rahio aavan jaanaa |

Becoming Merciful, my Lord and Master has ended my comings and goings in reincarnation.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੯੭॥
