ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਘਟਾ ਸਾਵਣੰ ਜਾਣ ਸਿਆਮੰ ਸੁਹਾਯੰ ॥

ghattaa saavanan jaan siaaman suhaayan |

Thy beauty appears elegant like the dark clouds of the month of Sawan

ਮਣੀ ਨੀਲ ਨਗਯੰ ਲਖੰ ਸੀਸ ਨ︀ਯਾਯੰ ॥

manee neel nagayan lakhan sees nayaayan |

Comprehending Thy beautiful form the mountain of blue gems hath bent its head.

ਮਹਾ ਸੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਸਿਆਮੰ ਮਹਾਂ ਅਭਿਰਾਮੰ ॥

mahaa sundr siaaman mahaan abhiraaman |

The most beautiful black colour highly fascinates the mind

ਮਹਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਰੂਪੰ ਮਹਾਂ ਕਾਮ ਕਾਮੰ ॥੫੯॥

mahaan roop roopan mahaan kaam kaaman |59|

Thou art the most beautiful of the beautiful once and the most passionate of he passionate once.59.

ਫਿਰੈ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਉਦਹੂੰ ਪੁਰੀਅੰ ਮਧਿਆਣੰ ॥

firai chakr chaudahoon pureean madhiaanan |

The Order of KAL is prevalent in all the fourteen worlds.

ਇਸੋ ਕੌਣ ਬੀਅੰ ਫਿਰੈ ਆਇਸਾਣੰ ॥

eiso kauan beean firai aaeisaanan |

Who is the other one who hath the audacity to refuse His Order?

ਕਹੋ ਕੁੰਟ ਕੌਨੈ ਬਿਖੈ ਭਾਜ ਬਾਚੈ ॥

kaho kuntt kauanai bikhai bhaaj baachai |

Tell me , in which direction you can flee and remain safe?

ਸਭੰ ਸੀਸ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਾਲ ਨਾਚੈ ॥੬੦॥

sabhan sees ke sang sree kaal naachai |60|

Since the KAL dances over the heads of all.60.

ਕਰੇ ਕੋਟ ਕੋਊ ਧਰੇ ਕੋਟ ਓਟੰ ॥

kare kott koaoo dhare kott ottan |

Through one may erect millions of forts and may remain under their protection

ਬਚੈਗੋ ਨ ਕਿਉਹੂੰ ਕਰੈ ਕਾਲ ਚੋਟੰ ॥

bachaigo na kiauhoon karai kaal chottan |

Even then in the case of a blow of KAL he will not be saved in any way.

ਲਿਖੰ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਪੜ੍ਹੰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੋਟੰ ॥

likhan jantr kete parrhan mantr kottan |

Though one may write many Yantras and recite millions of mantras

ਬਿਨਾ ਸਰਨ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਨਹੀ ਔਰ ਓਟੰ ॥੬੧॥

binaa saran taan kee nahee aauar ottan |61|

Even then he cannot be saved. No other shelter can save one without His refuge.61.

ਲਿਖੰ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਥਾਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹੰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਹਾਰੇ ॥

likhan jantr thaake parrhan mantr haare |

The writers of Yantras have grown weary and the reciters of mantras have accepted defeat.

ਕਰੇ ਕਾਲ ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਲੈ ਕੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥

kare kaal te ant lai kai bichaare |

But ultimately they all have been destroyed by KAL.

ਕਿਤਿਓ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਧੇ ਜੁ ਜਨਮੰ ਬਿਤਾਇਓ ॥

kitio tantr saadhe ju janaman bitaaeo |

Many Tantras have been tamed and in such endeavours one hath wasted his birth.

ਭਏ ਫੋਕਟੰ ਕਾਜ ਏਕੈ ਨ ਆਇਓ ॥੬੨॥

bhe fokattan kaaj ekai na aaeo |62|

All have become useless and none hath proved useful.62.

ਕਿਤੇ ਨਾਸ ਮੂੰਦੇ ਭਏ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥

kite naas moonde bhe brahamachaaree |

Many have become Brahmacharis and have closed their nostrils (in their process of contemplation).

ਕਿਤੇ ਕੰਠ ਕੰਠੀ ਜਟਾ ਸੀਸ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

kite kantth kantthee jattaa sees dhaaree |

Many have worn Kanthi (necklace) on their necks and have matted hair on their heads.

ਕਿਤੇ ਚੀਰ ਕਾਨੰ ਜੁਗੀਸੰ ਕਹਾਯੰ ॥

kite cheer kaanan jugeesan kahaayan |

Many have got their ears perforated and caused others to call them great Yogis.

ਸਭੈ ਫੋਕਟੰ ਧਰਮ ਕਾਮੰ ਨ ਆਯੰ ॥੬੩॥

sabhai fokattan dharam kaaman na aayan |63|

All such religious observances were useless and none of them became useful.63.

ਮਧੁ ਕੀਟਭੰ ਰਾਛਸੇਸੰ ਬਲੀਅੰ ॥

madh keettabhan raachhasesan baleean |

There had been mighty demon-kings like Madhu and Kaitabh

ਸਮੈ ਆਪਨੀ ਕਾਲ ਤੇਊ ਦਲੀਅੰ ॥

samai aapanee kaal teaoo daleean |

The KAL crushed them on their turn.

ਭਏ ਸੁੰਭ ਨੈਸੁੰਭ ਸ੍ਰੋਣੰਤ ਬੀਜੰ ॥

bhe sunbh naisunbh sronant beejan |

Then there were Sumbah

ਤੇਊ ਕਾਲ ਕੀਨੇ ਪੁਰੇਜੰ ਪੁਰੇਜੰ ॥੬੪॥

teaoo kaal keene purejan purejan |64|

Nisumbh and Sranavat Beef. They were also chopped into bits by KAL.64.

ਬਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਥੀਅੰ ਮਾਨਧਾਤਾ ਮਹੀਪੰ ॥

balee pritheean maanadhaataa maheepan |

The mighty king Prithu and the great sovereign like Mandhata

ਜਿਨੈ ਰਥ ਚੱਕ੍ਰ ਕੀਏ ਸਾਤ ਦੀਪੰ ॥

jinai rath chakr kee saat deepan |

Who had demarcated seven continents with his chariot-wheel.

ਭੁਜੰ ਭੀਮ ਭਰਥੰ ਜਗੰ ਜੀਤਿ ਡੰਡ︀ਯੰ ॥

bhujan bheem bharathan jagan jeet ddanddayan |

The king Bhim and the Bharat, who had conquered and brought the world under their control with the strength of arms

ਤਿਨੈ ਅੰਤ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਕੌ ਕਾਲ ਖੰਡ︀ਯੰ ॥੬੫॥

tinai ant ke ant kau kaal khanddayan |65|

. They were all destroyed by KAL when they were nearing their end.65.

ਜਿਨੈ ਦੀਪ ਦੀਪੰ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਫਿਰਾਈ ॥

jinai deep deepan duhaaee firaaee |

He who hath created the frightening dominance of His Name.

ਭੁਜਾ ਦੰਡ ਦੈ ਛੋਣਿ ਛੱਤ੍ਰੰ ਛਿਨਾਈ ॥

bhujaa dandd dai chhon chhatran chhinaaee |

He who had snatched the earth from the Kshatriyas with the strength of staff-like arms.

ਕਰੇ ਜੱਗ ਕੋਟੰ ਜਸੰ ਅਨੇਕ ਲੀਤੇ ॥

kare jag kottan jasan anek leete |

He who had performed millions of Yajnas (sacrifices) and erned multi-faceted approbation.

ਵਹੈ ਬੀਰ ਬੰਕੇ ਬਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਜੀਤੇ ॥੬੬॥

vahai beer banke balee kaal jeete |66|

Even that winsome warrior (Parasuram) hath been conquered by KAL.66.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟ ਲੀਨੇ ਜਿਨੈ ਦੁਰਗ ਢਾਹੇ ॥

kee kott leene jinai durag dtaahe |

Those who had conquered millions of forts and razed them.

ਕਿਤੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰਾਨ ਕੇ ਸੈਨ ਗਾਹੇ ॥

kite soorabeeraan ke sain gaahe |

Those who had treaded the forces of innumerable warriors.

ਕਈ ਜੰਗ ਕੀਨੇ ਸੁ ਸਾਕੇ ਪਵਾਰੇ ॥

kee jang keene su saake pavaare |

Those who had indulged in many wars events and disputes

ਵਹੈ ਦੀਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੬੭॥

vahai deen dekhe gire kaal maare |67|

I have seen them subdued and killed by KAL.67

ਜਿਨੈ ਪਾਤਸਾਹੀ ਕਰੀ ਕੋਟ ਜੁਗ︀ਯੰ ॥

jinai paatasaahee karee kott jugayan |

Those who had ruled for millions of ages

ਰਸੰ ਆਨ ਰੱਸੰ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਭੁਗ︀ਯੰ ॥

rasan aan rasan bhalee bhaant bhugayan |

And had enjoyed nicely the pleasures and vicious tastes.

ਵਹੈ ਅੰਤ ਕੋ ਪਾਵ ਨਾਗੇ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥

vahai ant ko paav naage padhaare |

They had ultimately gone with naked feet. I have seen them having been subdued

ਗਿਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਹਠੀ ਕਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੬੮॥

gire deen dekhe hatthee kaal maare |68|

Fallen and killed by the persistent KAL.68.

ਜਿਨੈ ਖੰਡੀਅੰ ਦੰਡ ਧਾਰੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥

jinai khanddeean dandd dhaaran apaaran |

He who had destroyed many kings

ਕਰੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਸੂਰ ਚੇਰੇ ਦੁਆਰੰ ॥

kare chandramaa soor chere duaaran |

He who had enslaved the moon and the sun in his house.

ਜਿਨੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੇ ਜੀਤ ਕੈ ਛੋਡ ਡਾਰੇ ॥

jinai indr se jeet kai chhodd ddaare |

He (as Ravana) had conquered the god Indra in war

ਵਹੈ ਦੀਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੬੯॥

vahai deen dekhe gire kaal maare |69|

And later released him. I have seen (him and Meghnad) being subdued fallen and killed by KAL.69.

Siree RaagGuru Guru Arjan

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਭੇ ਥੋਕ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਜੇ ਆਵੈ ਇਕੁ ਹਥਿ ॥

sabhe thok paraapate je aavai ik hath |

All things are received if the One is obtained.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਥਿ ॥

janam padaarath safal hai je sachaa sabad kath |

The precious gift of this human life becomes fruitful when one chants the True Word of the Shabad.

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਥਿ ॥੧॥

gur te mehal paraapate jis likhiaa hovai math |1|

One who has such destiny written on his forehead enters the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, through the Guru. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਏਕਸ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

mere man ekas siau chit laae |

O my mind, focus your consciousness on the One.

ਏਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਭ ਧੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ekas bin sabh dhandh hai sabh mithiaa mohu maae |1| rahaau |

Without the One, all entanglements are worthless; emotional attachment to Maya is totally false. ||1||Pause||

ਲਖ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀਆ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

lakh khuseea paatisaaheea je satigur nadar karee |

Hundreds of thousands of princely pleasures are enjoyed, if the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace.

ਨਿਮਖ ਏਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

nimakh ek har naam dee meraa man tan seetal hoe |

If He bestows the Name of the Lord, for even a moment, my mind and body are cooled and soothed.

ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਗਹੇ ॥੨॥

jis kau poorab likhiaa tin satigur charan gahe |2|

Those who have such pre-ordained destiny hold tight to the Feet of the True Guru. ||2||

ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਸਫਲਾ ਘੜੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

safal moorat safalaa gharree jit sache naal piaar |

Fruitful is that moment, and fruitful is that time, when one is in love with the True Lord.

ਦੂਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

dookh santaap na lagee jis har kaa naam adhaar |

Suffering and sorrow do not touch those who have the Support of the Name of the Lord.

ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥

baah pakarr gur kaadtiaa soee utariaa paar |3|

Grasping him by the arm, the Guru lifts them up and out, and carries them across to the other side. ||3||

ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ॥

thaan suhaavaa pavit hai jithai sant sabhaa |

Embellished and immaculate is that place where the Saints gather together.

ਢੋਈ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਭਾ ॥

dtoee tis hee no milai jin pooraa guroo labhaa |

He alone finds shelter, who has met the Perfect Guru.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਧਾ ਘਰੁ ਤਹਾਂ ਜਿਥੈ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੭੬॥

naanak badhaa ghar tahaan jithai mirat na janam jaraa |4|6|76|

Nanak builds his house upon that site where there is no death, no birth, and no old age. ||4||6||76||

Siree RaagGuru Guru Arjan

ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਸੋਈ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾਂ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥

soee dhiaaeeai jeearre sir saahaan paatisaahu |

Meditate on Him, O my soul; He is the Supreme Lord over kings and emperors.

ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਆਸ ਮਨ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭਸੁ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥

tis hee kee kar aas man jis kaa sabhas vesaahu |

Place the hopes of your mind in the One, in whom all have faith.

ਸਭਿ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਛਡਿ ਕੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਪਾਹੁ ॥੧॥

sabh siaanapaa chhadd kai gur kee charanee paahu |1|

Give up all your clever tricks, and grasp the Feet of the Guru. ||1||

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

man mere sukh sehaj setee jap naau |

O my mind, chant the Name with intuitive peace and poise.

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਇੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

aatth pehar prabh dhiaae toon gun goeind nit gaau |1| rahaau |

Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on God. Constantly sing the Glories of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰੁ ਮਨਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

tis kee saranee par manaa jis jevadd avar na koe |

Seek His Shelter, O my mind; there is no other as Great as He.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਘਣਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਨ ਮੂਲੇ ਹੋਇ ॥

jis simarat sukh hoe ghanaa dukh darad na moole hoe |

Remembering Him in meditation, a profound peace is obtained. Pain and suffering will not touch you at all.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥

sadaa sadaa kar chaakaree prabh saahib sachaa soe |2|

Forever and ever, work for God; He is our True Lord and Master. ||2||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ ॥

saadhasangat hoe niramalaa katteeai jam kee faas |

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall become absolutely pure, and the noose of death shall be cut away.

ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਰਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

sukhadaataa bhai bhanjano tis aagai kar aradaas |

So offer your prayers to Him, the Giver of Peace, the Destroyer of fear.

ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਤਾਂ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੩॥

mihar kare jis miharavaan taan kaaraj aavai raas |3|

Showing His Mercy, the Merciful Master shall resolve your affairs. ||3||

ਬਹੁਤੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਉ ॥

bahuto bahut vakhaaneeai aoocho aoochaa thaau |

The Lord is said to be the Greatest of the Great; His Kingdom is the Highest of the High.

ਵਰਨਾ ਚਿਹਨਾ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਾਉ ॥

varanaa chihanaa baaharaa keemat keh na sakaau |

He has no color or mark; His Value cannot be estimated.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਅਪੁਣਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥੭॥੭੭॥

naanak kau prabh meaa kar sach devahu apunaa naau |4|7|77|

Please show Mercy to Nanak, God, and bless him with Your True Name. ||4||7||77||

Siree RaagGuru Guru Arjan

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

naam dhiaae so sukhee tis mukh aoojal hoe |

One who meditates on the Naam is at peace; his face is radiant and bright.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਲੋਇ ॥

poore gur te paaeeai paragatt sabhanee loe |

Obtaining it from the Perfect Guru, he is honored all over the world.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥

saadhasangat kai ghar vasai eko sachaa soe |1|

In the Company of the Holy, the One True Lord comes to abide within the home of the self. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

mere man har har naam dhiaae |

O my mind, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਨਾਮੁ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਗੈ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

naam sahaaee sadaa sang aagai le chhaddaae |1| rahaau |

The Naam is your Companion; it shall always be with you. It shall save you in the world hereafter. ||1||Pause||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਕਵਨੈ ਆਵਹਿ ਕਾਮਿ ॥

duneea keea vaddiaaeea kavanai aaveh kaam |

What good is worldly greatness?

ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਫਿਕਾ ਜਾਤੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਨਿਦਾਨਿ ॥

maaeaa kaa rang sabh fikaa jaato binas nidaan |

All the pleasures of Maya are tasteless and insipid. In the end, they shall all fade away.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥੨॥

jaa kai hiradai har vasai so pooraa paradhaan |2|

Perfectly fulfilled and supremely acclaimed is the one, in whose heart the Lord abides. ||2||

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਹੋਹੁ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥

saadhoo kee hohu renukaa apanaa aap tiaag |

Become the dust of the Saints; renounce your selfishness and conceit.

ਉਪਾਵ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਛਡਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥

aupaav siaanap sagal chhadd gur kee charanee laag |

Give up all your schemes and your clever mental tricks, and fall at the Feet of the Guru.

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੩॥

tiseh paraapat ratan hoe jis masatak hovai bhaag |3|

He alone receives the Jewel, upon whose forehead such wondrous destiny is written. ||3||

ਤਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥

tisai paraapat bhaaeeho jis devai prabh aap |

O Siblings of Destiny, it is received only when God Himself bestows it.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਾਪੁ ॥

satigur kee sevaa so kare jis binasai haumai taap |

People serve the True Guru only when the fever of egotism has been eradicated.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੪॥੮॥੭੮॥

naanak kau gur bhettiaa binase sagal santaap |4|8|78|

Nanak has met the Guru; all his sufferings have come to an end. ||4||8||78||
