ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਜੁਗ ਜਾਮ ਤਬੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਰੀਝ ਕੈ ਐਸੇ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਓ ॥
judh kariyo har joo jug jaam tabai rip reejh kai aise pukaario |
ਬਾਲਕ ਹੋ ਅਰੁ ਜੁਧ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਹੋ ਮਾਗੁ ਕਛੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਜੋ ਜੀਯ ਧਾਰਿਓ ॥
baalak ho ar judh prabeen ho maag kachhoo mukh jo jeey dhaario |
When Krishna fought for two Pahars (about six hours), the enemy Amit Singh got pleased and said, “O Krishna! although you are still a child, but you are skillful in warfare, you may ask for whatever you want.”
ਆਪੁਨੀ ਪਾਤ ਕੀ ਘਾਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕਉ ਦੇਹੁ ਬਤਾਇ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਓ ॥
aapunee paat kee ghaat kee baat kau dehu bataae muraar uchaario |
ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਹਨੈ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਤਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਪਛਾਵਰਿ ਝਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੨੫੩॥
saamuhe mohi na koaoo hanai as lai tab kaanrah pachhaavar jhaario |1253|
Krishna said, “Tell me the manner of your death.” Then Amit Singh said, “No one can kill me from the front.” Then Krishna struck a blow on him behind.1253.
ਸੀਸ ਕਟਿਓ ਨ ਹਟਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਤੇ ਦਉਰ ਕੈ ਆਗੈ ਹੀ ਕੋ ਪਗੁ ਧਾਰਿਓ ॥

ਕੁੰਚਰ ਏਕ ਹੁਤੇ ਦਲ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਘਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਓ ॥
kunchar ek hute dal mai tih dhaae kai jaae kai ghaae prahaario |
The head of Amit Singh was cut, but still he ran and moved forward and he struck a dreadful blow on an elephant of the army
ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ਹਨਿ ਬੀਰ ਚਲਿਓ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਓਰਿ ਪਧਾਰਿਓ ॥
maar karee han beer chalio as lai kar sree har or padhaario |
After killing the elephant and many warriors, he rushed forward towards Krishna
ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਿਓ ਸਿਰੁ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਿਵ ਲੈ ਗੁਹਿ ਮੁੰਡ ਕੀ ਮਾਲ ਕੋ ਮੇਰੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੨੫੪॥
bhoom girio sir sree siv lai guhi mundd kee maal ko mer savaario |1254|
His head fell down on the ground, which was given a place of Meru by Shiva in his rosary of skulls.1254.

ਅਮਿਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਬਲੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰਿਓ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮ ॥

The mighty warrior Amit Singh had waged a terrible war
ਨਿਕਸਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੀ ਜਿਉ ਨਿਸ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਨੁ ॥੧੨੫੫॥
nikas jot har so milee jiau nis ko kar bhaan |1255|
Just as the light moves out from the sun and moon, in the same manner, his light, coming out from his body, merged in Lord-God.1255.

ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਤਨਾ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਤਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਕੀਆ ॥

The remaining army of the enemy fought with Krishna
ਬਿਨੁ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਆਨਿ ਅਰੇ ਨ ਡਰੇ ਰਿਸ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਗਾਢੋ ਹੀਆ ॥
bin bhoopat aan are na ddare ris ko kar kai at gaadto heea |
They even stood firmly without their king and in their fury, they strengthened their heart
ਮਿਲ ਧਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਭਟ ਯੌ ਕਵਿ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਮਾਨ ਲੀਆ ॥
mil dhaae pare har pai bhatt yau kav taa chhab ko jas maan leea |
ਮਾਨੋ ਰਾਤਿ ਸਮੈ ਉਡਿ ਕੀਟ ਪਤੰਗ ਜਿਉ ਟੂਟਿ ਪਰੈ ਅਵਿਲੋਕਿ ਦੀਆ ॥੧੨੫੬॥
maano raat samai udd keett patang jiau ttoott parai avilok deea |1256|
The army gathered together and fell upon Krishna just as during night, seeing the earthen lamp, the insects move towards it and fall upon it.1256.

ਤਬ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭੂਖਨ ਖੜਗੁ ਗਹਿ ਅਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਦਏ ਗਿਰਾਇ ॥

Then Krishna, taking his sword in his hand, knocked down many of his enemies
ਏਕ ਅਰੇ ਇਕ ਰੁਪਿ ਲਰੇ ਇਕ ਰਨ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਾਇ ॥੧੨੫੭॥
ek are ik rup lare ik ran chhaadd paraae |1257|
Someone fought someone stood firmly and many sped away.1257.

Krishna destroyed the army of Amit Singh and there was great lamentation in the enemy’s army
ਉਤ ਤੇ ਸੂਰ ਅਸਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਗਯੋ ॥
aut te soor asat hoe gayo |
ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਸਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਯੋ ॥੧੨੫੮॥
praachee dis te sas pragattayo |1258|
On that side, the sun set and the moon arose in the east.1258.
ਚਾਰ ਜਾਮ ਦਿਨ ਜੁਧ ਸੁ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
chaar jaam din judh su keeno |
ਬੀਰਨ ਕੋ ਬਲੁ ਹੁਇ ਗਯੋ ਛੀਨੋ ॥
beeran ko bal hue gayo chheeno |
The warriors were exhausted and weakened by the continuous fight during the whole day
ਦੋਊ ਦਲ ਆਪ ਆਪ ਮਿਲ ਧਾਏ ॥
doaoo dal aap aap mil dhaae |
ਇਤ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਬਸਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਏ ॥੧੨੫੯॥
eit jadubeer basat grihi aae |1259|
Both the armies started moving back and on this side, Krishna also returned home.1259.

ਬਲ ਗੁਨ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਮ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸਮ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕਾਮ ਸਰੂਪ ॥੧੨੬੦॥
bal gun bikram indr sam sundar kaam saroop |1260|
Then during night, Jarashandh called all the kings, who wre equal in strength to Indra and equal in beauty to the god of love.1260.
ਭੂਪ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਜੁਧ ਮੈ ਸ︀ਯਾਮਿ ਹਨੇ ਬਲ ਬੀਰ ॥

Krishna has killed eighteen kings in the war
ਪ੍ਰਾਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੈ ਐਸੋ ਕੋ ਰਨਧੀਰ ॥੧੨੬੧॥
praat judh vaa so karai aiso ko ranadheer |1261|
Is there anyone now, who will go and wage war with him?1261.
ਧੂਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਧੁਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਨਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਰਾਧਰ ਅਉਰ ॥

ਧਉਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਾਚੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੂਰਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਮਉਰ ॥੧੨੬੨॥
dhaul singh paacho nripat sooran ke sir maur |1262|
There were seated five chief kings named Dhum Singh, Dhvaj Singh, Man Singh, Dharadhar Singh and Dhaval Singh.1262.
ਹਾਥ ਜੋਰਿ ਉਠਿ ਸਭਾ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਚਹੁ ਕੀਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ॥
haath jor utth sabhaa meh paachahu keeyo pranaam |
ਕਾਲਿ ਭੋਰ ਕੇ ਹੋਤ ਹੀ ਹਨਿ ਹੈ ਬਲ ਦਲ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ॥੧੨੬੩॥
kaal bhor ke hot hee han hai bal dal sayaam |1263|
All the arose and bowed in the court and said, “As soon as the day dawns, we shall kill Balram, Krishna and his army.”1263.

ਬੋਲਤ ਭੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਤੇਊ ਯੌ ਜਿਨਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੋ ਹਮ ਜਾਇ ਲਰੈਂਗੇ ॥
bolat bhe nrip so teaoo yau jin chint karo ham jaae larainge |
The kings said to Jarasandh, “Do not worry, we shall go to fight
ਆਇਸ ਹੋਇ ਤੁ ਬਾਧਿ ਲਿਆਵਹਿ ਨਾਤਰ ਬਾਨ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਰੈਂਗੇ ॥
aaeis hoe tu baadh liaaveh naatar baan so praan harainge |
If you command, we shall tie him down and bring him here or we may kill him there
ਕਾਲਿ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਅਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਲ ਅਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਦਵ ਸੋ ਨ ਟਰੈਗੇ ॥
kaal ayodhan mai ar kai bal aau har jaadav so na ttaraige |
“We shall not recede in the battlefield by Balram, Krishna and Yadavas
ਏਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਉਨੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਡਰੈਗੇ ॥੧੨੬੪॥
ek kripaan ke sang nisang unai bin praan karai na ddaraige |1264|
Even slightly, we shall make them lifeless fearlessly with one blow of the sword.”1264.

ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਇਹ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਦਈ ਜੁ ਸਭਾ ਉਠਾਇ ॥
jaraasandh ih mantr kar dee ju sabhaa utthaae |
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਗਏ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੨੬੫॥
apune apune grih ge raajaa at sukh paae |1265|
After holding these consultations, Jarasandh bade edieu t the court and the kings, getting pleased, went away to their homes.1265.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਏ ਉਠਿ ਪਾਚ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜਾਮ ਏਕ ਗਈ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
grih aae utth paach nrip jaam ek gee raat |
All the five kings came to their places and on this side one pahar of night had passed
ਤੀਨ ਪਹਰ ਸੋਏ ਨਹੀ ਝਾਕਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਿ ॥੧੨੬੬॥
teen pehar soe nahee jhaakat hvai gayo praat |1266|
They could not sleep for the remaining three pahars and in this way, the day dawned.1266.
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮਰਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
satigur hamaraa bharam gavaaeaa |
The True Guru has dispelled my doubts.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
har naam niranjan man vasaaeaa |
He has enshrined the Immaculate Name of the Lord within my mind.
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
sabad cheen sadaa sukh paaeaa |1|
Focusing on the Word of the Shabad, I have obtained lasting peace. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
sun man mere tat giaan |
Listen, O my mind, to the essence of spiritual wisdom.
ਦੇਵਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
devan vaalaa sabh bidh jaanai guramukh paaeeai naam nidhaan |1| rahaau |
The Great Giver knows our condition completely; the Gurmukh obtains the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
satigur bhette kee vaddiaaee |
The great glory of meeting the True Guru is
ਜਿਨਿ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
jin mamataa agan trisanaa bujhaaee |
that it has quenched the fire of possessiveness and desire;
ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੨॥
sahaje maataa har gun gaaee |2|
imbued with peace and poise, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
vin gur poore koe na jaanee |
Without the Perfect Guru, no one knows the Lord.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਣੀ ॥
maaeaa mohi doojai lobhaanee |
Attached to Maya, they are engrossed in duality.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
guramukh naam milai har baanee |3|
The Gurmukh receives the Naam, and the Bani of the Lord's Word. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤਪਾਂ ਸਿਰਿ ਤਪੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
gur sevaa tapaan sir tap saar |
Service to the Guru is the most excellent and sublime penance of penances.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਭ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
har jeeo man vasai sabh dookh visaaranahaar |
The Dear Lord dwells in the mind, and all suffering departs.
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੪॥
dar saachai deesai sachiaar |4|
Then, at the Gate of the True Lord, one appears truthful. ||4||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur sevaa te tribhavan sojhee hoe |
Serving the Guru, one comes to know the three worlds.
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
aap pachhaan har paavai soe |
Understanding his own self, he obtains the Lord.
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
saachee baanee mehal paraapat hoe |5|
Through the True Word of His Bani, we enter the Mansion of His Presence. ||5||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
gur sevaa te sabh kul udhaare |
Serving the Guru, all of one's generations are saved.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
niramal naam rakhai ur dhaare |
Keep the Immaculate Naam enshrined within your heart.
ਸਾਚੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੬॥
saachee sobhaa saach duaare |6|
In the Court of the True Lord, you shall be adorned with True Glory. ||6||
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
se vaddabhaagee ji gur sevaa laae |
How very fortunate are they, who are committed to the Guru's service.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
anadin bhagat sach naam drirraae |
Night and day, they are engaged in devotional worship; the True Name is implanted within them.
ਨਾਮੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਬਾਏ ॥੭॥
naame udhare kul sabaae |7|
Through the Naam, all of one's generations are saved. ||7||
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
naanak saach kahai veechaar |
Nanak chants the true thought.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
har kaa naam rakhahu ur dhaar |
Keep the Name of the Lord enshrined within your heart.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੮॥੨॥੨੪॥
har bhagatee raate mokh duaar |8|2|24|
Imbued with devotion to the Lord, the gate of salvation is found. ||8||2||24||

Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
aasaa aas kare sabh koee |
Everyone lives, hoping in hope.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
hukamai boojhai niraasaa hoee |
Understanding His Command, one becomes free of desire.
ਆਸਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਤੇ ਕਈ ਲੋਈ ॥
aasaa vich sute kee loee |
So many are asleep in hope.
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜਾਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
so jaagai jaagaavai soee |1|
He alone wakes up, whom the Lord awakens. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
satigur naam bujhaaeaa vin naavai bhukh na jaaee |
The True Guru has led me to understand the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Naam, hunger does not go away.
ਨਾਮੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naame trisanaa agan bujhai naam milai tisai rajaaee |1| rahaau |
Through the Naam, the fire of desire is extinguished; the Naam is obtained by His Will. ||1||Pause||
ਕਲਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥
kal keerat sabad pachhaan |
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, realize the Word of the Shabad.
ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਚੂਕੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
ehaa bhagat chookai abhimaan |
By this devotional worship, egotism is eliminated.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
satigur seviai hovai paravaan |
Serving the True Guru, one becomes approved.
ਜਿਨਿ ਆਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
jin aasaa keetee tis no jaan |2|
So know the One, who created hope and desire. ||2||
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
tis kiaa deejai ji sabad sunaae |
What shall we offer to one who proclaims the Word of the Shabad?
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
kar kirapaa naam man vasaae |
By His Grace, the Naam is enshrined within our minds.
ਇਹੁ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
eihu sir deejai aap gavaae |
Offer your head, and shed your self-conceit.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
hukamai boojhe sadaa sukh paae |3|
One who understands the Lord's Command finds lasting peace. ||3||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
aap kare tai aap karaae |
He Himself does, and causes others to do.
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
aape guramukh naam vasaae |
He Himself enshrines His Name in the mind of the Gurmukh.
ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
aap bhulaavai aap maarag paae |
He Himself misleads us, and He Himself puts us back on the Path.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥
sachai sabad sach samaae |4|
Through the True Word of the Shabad, we merge into the True Lord. ||4||
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
sachaa sabad sachee hai baanee |
True is the Shabad, and True is the Word of the Lord's Bani.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
guramukh jug jug aakh vakhaanee |
In each and every age, the Gurmukhs speak it and chant it.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੋਲਾਣੀ ॥
manamukh mohi bharam bholaanee |
The self-willed manmukhs are deluded by doubt and attachment.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਉਰਾਣੀ ॥੫॥
bin naavai sabh firai bauraanee |5|
Without the Name, everyone wanders around insane. ||5||
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਮਹਿ ਏਕਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
teen bhavan meh ekaa maaeaa |
Throughout the three worlds, is the one Maya.
ਮੂਰਖਿ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
moorakh parr parr doojaa bhaau drirraaeaa |
The fool reads and reads, but holds tight to duality.
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
bahu karam kamaavai dukh sabaaeaa |
He performs all sorts of rituals, but still suffers terrible pain.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
satigur sev sadaa sukh paaeaa |6|
Serving the True Guru, eternal peace is obtained. ||6||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
amrit meetthaa sabad veechaar |
Reflective meditation upon the Shabad is such sweet nectar.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭੋਗੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
anadin bhoge haumai maar |
Night and day, one enjoys it, subduing his ego.
ਸਹਜਿ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
sehaj anand kirapaa dhaar |
When the Lord showers His Mercy, we enjoy celestial bliss.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਚਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੭॥
naam rate sadaa sach piaar |7|
Imbued with the Naam, love the True Lord forever. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਪੜੀਐ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
har jap parreeai gurasabad veechaar |
Meditate on the Lord, and read and reflect upon the Guru's Shabad.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਪੜੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
har jap parreeai haumai maar |
Subdue your ego and meditate on the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਭਇ ਸਚਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
har japeeai bhe sach piaar |
Meditate on the Lord, and be imbued with fear and love of the True One.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੩॥੨੫॥
naanak naam guramat ur dhaar |8|3|25|
O Nanak, enshrine the Naam within your heart, through the Guru's Teachings. ||8||3||25||
