ਰਨ ਆਤੁਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸੁਭਟ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕੀਨ ॥
ran aatur hvai subhatt jo har so binatee keen |
ਤਬ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਜੂ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨ ॥੧੨੩੭॥

When the warriors requested Krishna in the battlefield, greatly agitated, Krishna replied to them thus,1237

ਨਿਧਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਠ ਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਸ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਪੁ ਜਾਪੁ ਕੀਓ ॥
nidh baar bikhai at hee hatth kai bahu maas rahiyo tap jaap keeo |
Amit singh has persistently performed austerities and repeated the name of Lord for many months in the ocean
ਬਹੁਰੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤ ਸੁ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਅਵਾਸ ਤਜਿਯੋ ਬਨਬਾਸ ਲੀਓ ॥
bahuro taj kai pit maat su bhraat avaas tajiyo banabaas leeo |
Then he forsook his parents, home etc. and resided in the forest
ਸਿਵ ਰੀਝਿ ਤਪੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਾਗ ਮਹਾ ਬਰੁ ਤੋਹਿ ਦੀਓ ॥
siv reejh tapodhan mai ih ko kahiyo maag mahaa bar tohi deeo |
ਮੁਹਿ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਰਹੈ ਬਰੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਇਹੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਗ ਲੀਓ ॥੧੨੩੮॥
muhi saamuhe koaoo na satr rahai bar dehu ihai mukh maag leeo |1238|
The god Shiva god pleased and asked him to implore for a boon and the boon that he begged for was that no enemy could confront him.1238.
ਸੇਸ ਸੁਰੇਸ ਗਣੇਸ ਨਿਸੇਸ ਦਿਨੇਸ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਓ ॥
ses sures ganes nises dines hoon te nahee jaae sanghaario |
Even Indra, Sheshanaga, Ganesh, Chandra and Surya cannot kill him
ਸੋ ਬਰ ਪਾਇ ਮਹਾ ਸਿਵ ਤੇ ਅਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਨਰਿੰਦ ਇਹੀ ਰਨਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
so bar paae mahaa siv te ar brind narind ihee ran maario |
After receiving the boon from Shiva, he has killed many kings
ਸੂਰਨ ਸੋ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਤਬੈ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਓ ॥

ਹਉ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗਰ ਕੇ ਸਮੁਹੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੂਛਿ ਇਹੀ ਜੀਯ ਧਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੨੩੯॥
hau tih sangar ke samuhe mrit kee bidh poochh ihee jeey dhaario |1239|
I think that I should confront him and ask him about the manner of his death.1239.

ਜਬ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
jab har joo aise kahiyo tab musalee sun paae |
ਇਹ ਕੋ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਹਉ ਹਨੋ ਬੋਲਿਯੋ ਬਚਨੁ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥੧੨੪੦॥
eih ko ab hee hau hano boliyo bachan risaae |1240|
When Balram heard these words of Krishna, he spoke in anger that he would kill Amit Singh immediately.1240.

ਕੋਪ ਹਲੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਹੋਂ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਘਾਰੋ ॥
kop halee jadubeer hee so ih bhaat kahiyo kahon jaae sanghaaro |
ਜਉ ਸਿਵ ਆਇ ਸਹਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਸਿਵ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੋ ॥
jau siv aae sahaae karai siv ko ran mai tih sang prahaaro |
In great rage, the mighty Balram said to Krishna that he would kill Amit Singh, and even if Shiva comes to his help, he would also strike his blows on his alongwith Amit Singh:
ਸਾਚ ਕਹੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਹਨਿ ਹੋ ਅਮਿਟੇਸ ਨਹੀ ਬਲ ਹਾਰੋ ॥
saach kaho prabh joo tum so han ho amittes nahee bal haaro |
O Krishna! I am telling you the truth that I shall kill Amit Singh and not be Vanquished
ਪਉਨ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਹਾਇ ਕਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਵਕ ਹੁਇ ਰਿਪੁ ਕਾਨਨ ਜਾਰੋ ॥੧੨੪੧॥
paun saroop sahaae karo tum paavak hue rip kaanan jaaro |1241|
You come to my help and with the fire of your strength, burn away this forest of the enemies.1241.

ਅਬ ਹਮ ਆਗੇ ਗਰਬ ਕੋ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਕੋਪਿ ॥੧੨੪੨॥
ab ham aage garab ko bachan uchaarat kop |1242|
“When he has fighting against you, why did you not fight with him firmly and now you are talking to me with pride.1242.

ਜਾਦਵ ਭਾਜਿ ਗਏ ਸਿਗਰੇ ਤੁਮ ਬੋਲਤ ਹੋ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਨਿ ਜਿਉ ॥
jaadav bhaaj ge sigare tum bolat ho ahankaaran jiau |
“All the Yadavas have run away and you are still talking like an egoist
ਅਬ ਆਜ ਹਨੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਸ ਭਾਖਤ ਹੋ ਮਤਵਾਰਿਨ ਜਿਉ ॥
ab aaj hano ar ko ran mai kas bhaakhat ho matavaarin jiau |
What are you talking like the intoxicated persons?
ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਬਡਵਾਨਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਸੇ ਜਰ ਜੈਹੋ ਤਬੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਭਾਰਨ ਜਿਉ ॥
tih ko baddavaanal ke parase jar jaiho tabai trin bhaaran jiau |
ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਵਹੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਭਜਿ ਹੋ ਬਲਿ ਬਾਰੁਨ ਜਿਉ ॥੧੨੪੩॥
jadubeer kahiyo vahu kehar hai tih te bhaj ho bal baarun jiau |1243|
“That you would kill Amit Singh today, you will burn like a straw before his fire,” Krishna said, “He is a lion and you will run before him like the children.”1243.

ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭੂਖਨ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਹੀ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥
brijabhookhan balabhadr so ih bidh kahee sunaae |
ਹਰੈ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਯੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਰੋ ਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਇ ॥੧੨੪੪॥
harai bol bal yau kahiyo karo ju prabheh suhaae |1244|
When Krishna said these words to Balram, he replied, “You may do whatever you wish.”1244.

ਯੌ ਬਲਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਰੋਸ ਬਢਾਇ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
yau bal siau kahiyo ros badtaae chaliyo har joo hathiyaar sanbhaare |
ਕਾਇਰ ਜਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਹੁ ਸੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਜ︀ਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਭਭਕਾਰੇ ॥
kaaeir jaat kahaa thir hohu su kehar jayo har joo bhabhakaare |
Saying thus to Balram and taking hold of his weapons in great rage, Krishna moved forward and said, “O coward! where are you going, stay a little.
ਬਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਹਨੇ ਉਨ ਹੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਹੁਇ ਬਾਨ ਸੋ ਬਾਨ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
baan anek hane un hoon har kop hue baan so baan nivaare |
Amit Singh showered many arrows, which were intercepted by the arrows of Krishna
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪਾਨਿ ਲਯੋ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਨਿ ਘਨੇ ਸਰ ਲੈ ਅਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥੧੨੪੫॥
apune paan layo dhan taan ghane sar lai ar aoopar ddaare |1245|
Krishna took his bow in his hand and pulling his bow discharged may arrows on the enemy.1245.

ਬਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਚਲਾਇ ਕੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਬੋਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵ ॥

ਅਮਿਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਝੂਠੋ ਤੁਯ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥੧੨੪੬॥
amitt singh mitt jaaeigo jhoottho tuy ahamev |1246|
After discharging many arrows, Krishna spoke again, “O Amit Singh! your false ego with be effacted.”1246.
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਰੂੜੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਰੂੜੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥
roorro tthaakur maaharo roorree gurabaanee |
Beautiful is the Supreme Lord and Master, and beautiful is the Word of the Guru's Bani.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
vaddai bhaag satigur milai paaeeai pad nirabaanee |1|
By great good fortune, one meets the True Guru, and the supreme status of Nirvaanaa is obtained. ||1||
ਮੈ ਓਲੑਗੀਆ ਓਲੑਗੀ ਹਮ ਛੋਰੂ ਥਾਰੇ ॥
mai olageea olagee ham chhoroo thaare |
I am the lowest slave of Your slaves; I am Your most humble servant.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiau toon raakheh tiau rahaa mukh naam hamaare |1| rahaau |
As You keep me, I live. Your Name is in my mouth. ||1||Pause||
ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਘਣੀ ਭਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈਐ ॥
darasan kee piaasaa ghanee bhaanai man bhaaeeai |
I have such a great thirst for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; my mind accepts Your Will, and so You are pleased with me.
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਭਾਣੈ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
mere tthaakur haath vaddiaaeea bhaanai pat paaeeai |2|
Greatness is in the Hands of my Lord and Master; by His Will, honor is obtained. ||2||
ਸਾਚਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
saachau door na jaaneeai antar hai soee |
Do not think that the True Lord is far away; He is deep within.
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਨਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥
jeh dekhaa teh rav rahe kin keemat hoee |3|
Wherever I look, there I find Him pervading; how can I estimate His value? ||3||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹਰੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
aap kare aape hare vekhai vaddiaaee |
He Himself does, and He Himself undoes. He Himself beholds His glorious greatness.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ਇਉ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥
guramukh hoe nihaaleeai iau keemat paaee |4|
Becoming Gurmukh, one beholds Him, and so, His value is appraised. ||4||
ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਲਾਹਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
jeevadiaa laahaa milai gur kaar kamaavai |
So earn your profits while you are alive, by serving the Guru.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
poorab hovai likhiaa taa satigur paavai |5|
If it is so pre-ordained, then one finds the True Guru. ||5||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੋਟਾ ਨਿਤ ਹੈ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਭਰਮਾਏ ॥
manamukh tottaa nit hai bharameh bharamaae |
The self-willed manmukhs continually lose, and wander around, deluded by doubt.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥
manamukh andh na chetee kiau darasan paae |6|
The blind manmukhs do not remember the Lord; how can they obtain the Blessed Vision of His Darshan? ||6||
ਤਾ ਜਗਿ ਆਇਆ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਚੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
taa jag aaeaa jaaneeai saachai liv laae |
One's coming into the world is judged worthwhile only if one lovingly attunes oneself to the True Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਭਏ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੭॥
gur bhette paaras bhe jotee jot milaae |7|
Meeting the Guru, one becomes invaluable; his light merges into the Light. ||7||
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੋ ਕਾਰ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
ahinis rahai niraalamo kaar dhur kee karanee |
Day and night, he remains detached, and serves the Primal Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ॥੮॥੧੯॥
naanak naam santokheea raate har charanee |8|19|
O Nanak, those who are imbued with the Lord's Lotus Feet, are content with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||8||19||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਕੇਤਾ ਆਖਣੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
ketaa aakhan aakheeai taa ke ant na jaanaa |
No matter how much one may describe the Lord, His limits still cannot be known.
ਮੈ ਨਿਧਰਿਆ ਧਰ ਏਕ ਤੂੰ ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਸਤਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
mai nidhariaa dhar ek toon mai taan sataanaa |1|
I am without any support; You, O Lord, are my only Support; You are my almighty power. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਚ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
naanak kee aradaas hai sach naam suhelaa |
This is Nanak's prayer, that he may be adorned with the True Name.
ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਈ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮੇਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aap geaa sojhee pee gurasabadee melaa |1| rahaau |
When self-conceit is eradicated, and understanding is obtained, one meets the Lord, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
haumai garab gavaaeeai paaeeai veechaar |
Abandoning egotism and pride, one obtains contemplative understanding.
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
saahib siau man maaniaa de saach adhaar |2|
When the mind surrenders to the Lord Master, He bestows the support of the Truth. ||2||
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਈ ॥
ahinis naam santokheea sevaa sach saaee |
Day and night, remain content with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; that is the true service.
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗਈ ਚਾਲੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
taa kau bighan na laagee chaalai hukam rajaaee |3|
No misfortune troubles one who follows the Command of the Lord's Will. ||3||
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਸੋ ਪਵੈ ਖਜਾਨੈ ॥
hukam rajaaee jo chalai so pavai khajaanai |
One who follows the Command of the Lord's Will is taken into the Lord's Treasury.
ਖੋਟੇ ਠਵਰ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਰਲੇ ਜੂਠਾਨੈ ॥੪॥
khotte tthavar na paaeinee rale jootthaanai |4|
The counterfeit find no place there; they are mixed with the false ones. ||4||
ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਖਰਾ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
nit nit kharaa samaaleeai sach saudaa paaeeai |
Forever and ever, the genuine coins are treasured; with them, the true merchandise is purchased.
ਖੋਟੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਲੇ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਈਐ ॥੫॥
khotte nadar na aavanee le agan jalaaeeai |5|
The false ones are not seen in the Lord's Treasury; they are seized and cast into the fire again. ||5||
ਜਿਨੀ ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਤਮੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
jinee aatam cheeniaa paramaatam soee |
Those who understand their own souls, are themselves the Supreme Soul.
ਏਕੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਫਲੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੬॥
eko amrit birakh hai fal amrit hoee |6|
The One Lord is the tree of ambrosial nectar, which bears the ambrosial fruit. ||6||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਈ ॥
amrit fal jinee chaakhiaa sach rahe aghaaee |
Those who taste the ambrosial fruit remain satisfied with Truth.
ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਭੇਦੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ॥੭॥
tinaa bharam na bhed hai har rasan rasaaee |7|
They have no doubt or sense of separation - their tongues taste the divine taste. ||7||
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਆਇਆ ਚਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
hukam sanjogee aaeaa chal sadaa rajaaee |
By His Command, and through your past actions, you came into the world; walk forever according to His Will.
ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਨਕੈ ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੮॥੨੦॥
aauganiaare kau gun naanakai sach milai vaddaaee |8|20|
Please, grant virtue to Nanak, the virtueless one; bless him with the glorious greatness of the Truth. ||8||20||

ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਾਣਿਆ ॥
man raatau har naae sach vakhaaniaa |
One whose mind is attuned to the Lord's Name speaks the truth.
ਲੋਕਾ ਦਾ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਇ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
lokaa daa kiaa jaae jaa tudh bhaaniaa |1|
What would the people lose, if I became pleasing to You, O Lord? ||1||
ਜਉ ਲਗੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਰਾਣ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
jau lag jeeo paraan sach dhiaaeeai |
As long as there is the breath of life, meditate on the True Lord.
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

You shall receive the profit of singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and find peace. ||1||Pause||
ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਾਰ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਤੂੰ ॥
sachee teree kaar dehi deaal toon |
True is Your Service; bless me with it, O Merciful Lord.
ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਮੈ ਟੇਕ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਤੂੰ ॥੨॥
hau jeevaa tudh saalaeh mai ttek adhaar toon |2|
I live by praising You; You are my Anchor and Support. ||2||
ਦਰਿ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਰਵਾਨੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਹੀ ॥
dar sevak daravaan darad toon jaanahee |
I am Your servant, the gate-keeper at Your Gate; You alone know my pain.
ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੈਰਾਨੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੀ ॥੩॥
bhagat teree hairaan darad gavaavahee |3|
How wonderful is Your devotional worship! It removes all pains. ||3||
ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣਸੀ ॥
daragah naam hadoor guramukh jaanasee |
The Gurmukhs know that by chanting the Naam, they shall dwell in His Court, in His Presence.
ਵੇਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਸੀ ॥੪॥
velaa sach paravaan sabad pachhaanasee |4|
True and acceptable is that time, when one recognizes the Word of the Shabad. ||4||
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਉ ਤੋਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੇਇ ॥
sat santokh kar bhaau tosaa har naam see |
Those who practice Truth, contentment and love, obtain the supplies of the Lord's Name.
ਮਨਹੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਇ ॥੫॥
manahu chhodd vikaar sachaa sach dee |5|
So banish corruption from your mind, and the True One will grant you Truth. ||5||
ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਸਚੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sache sachaa nehu sachai laaeaa |
The True Lord inspires true love in the truthful.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਆਉ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
aape kare niaau jo tis bhaaeaa |6|
He Himself administers justice, as it pleases His Will. ||6||
ਸਚੇ ਸਚੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ॥
sache sachee daat dehi deaal hai |
True is the gift of the True, Compassionate Lord.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
tis sevee din raat naam amol hai |7|
Day and night, I serve the One whose Name is priceless. ||7||
ਤੂੰ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਉ ਨੀਚੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕਾਂਢੀਆ ॥
toon utam hau neech sevak kaandteea |
You are so sublime, and I am so lowly, but I am called Your slave.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਂਢੀਆ ॥੮॥੨੧॥
naanak nadar karehu milai sach vaandteea |8|21|
Please, shower Nanak with Your Glance of Grace, that he, the separated one, may merge with You again, O Lord. ||8||21||
