ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਲਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
yau sun kai brikhabhaan sutaa nand laal lalaa kahu utar deeno |
ਤਾਹੀ ਸੋ ਬਾਤ ਕਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਜਿਹ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਨੇਹੁ ਘਨੋ ਤੁਮ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
taahee so baat karo har joo jih ke sang nehu ghano tum keeno |
Hearing the words of Krishna, Radha replied, “O Krishna! you talk with her, with whom you have been in love
ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਮੋਰੀ ਗਹੀ ਬਹੀਆ ਸੁ ਦੁਖਾਵਤ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਹੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਜੀ ਨੋ ॥
kaahe kau moree gahee baheea su dukhaavat kaahe kau ho muhi jee no |
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਬਾਤ ਭਰੀ ਅਖੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ਸਾਸ ਉਸਾਸ ਸੁ ਲੀਨੋ ॥੭੩੮॥
yau keh baat bharee akheea kar kai dukh saas usaas su leeno |738|
“Why have you caught hold of my arm and why are you causing anguish to my heart?” Saying this, Radha”s eyes were filled with tears and she heaved a long sigh.738.
ਕੇਲ ਕਰੋ ਉਠਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਸੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੰਗ ਰਚਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਤੁਮਾਰੋ ॥
kel karo utth gvaaran so jin sang rachiyo man hai su tumaaro |
ਸ੍ਵਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਅਖੀਆ ਭਰ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
svaasan lai akheea bhar kai brikhabhaan sutaa ih bhaat uchaaro |
Heaving a long sigh and filling her eyes with tears, Radha said, “O Krishna! you roam with those gopis, with whom you have been fondly attached
ਸੰਗ ਚਲੋ ਨਹਿ ਹਉ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਕਹਿਓ ਕਿਉ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਰੋ ॥
sang chalo neh hau tumare kar aayudh lai kahio kiau nahee maaro |
“You may even kill me taking the weapons in your hands, but I shall not go with you
ਸਾਚ ਕਹੋ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਪਧਾਰੋ ॥੭੩੯॥
saach kaho tum so bateeyaa taj kai ham ko jadubeer padhaaro |739|
O Krishna! I am telling you the truth that you may go away, leaving me here.”739.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਬਾਚ ਰਾਧੇ ਸੋ ॥

ਸੰਗ ਚਲੋ ਹਮਰੇ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਸਖੀ ਮਾਨ ਕਛੁ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਆਨੋ ॥
sang chalo hamare utth kai sakhee maan kachh man mai nahee aano |
“O dear! you accompany me, forsaking your pride, I have come to you, abandoning all my doubts
ਆਇ ਹੋ ਹਉ ਤਜਿ ਸੰਕਿ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਕਛੂ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਰਸ ਰੀਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੋ ॥
aae ho hau taj sank nisank kachhoo tih te ras reet pachhaano |
Please recognise somewhat the mode of love
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਬੇਚੇ ਕਿਧੌ ਬਿਕੀਯੈ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਸੁਨੋ ਸਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਹਾਨੋ ॥
mitr ke beche kidhau bikeeyai ih sraun suno sakhee preet kahaano |
“A friend on being sold is ever ready to be sold, you might have heard this sort of love definitely with your ears
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਹਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਰੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਹਿਬੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਸਖੀ ਅਬ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੭੪੦॥
taa te hau teree karo binatee kahibo muhi maan sakhee ab maano |740|
Therefore, O dear! I am requesting you to agree to my saying.”740.

ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਯਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
yau sun kai har kee bateeyaa har ko tin yaa bidh utar deeno |
Hearing the words of Krishna, Radha replied thus, “Krishna! when did the love persist between you and me?
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਹਾ ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਦ੍ਰਿਗਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਭਰੀਨੋ ॥
preet rahee ham so tumaree kahaa yau keh kai drig baar bhareeno |
” Saying this, the eyes of Radha were filled with tears, she said again,
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਸੰਗ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਮੁਹਿ ਜੀ ਨੋ ॥
preet karee sang chandrabhagaa at kop badtiyo tih te muhi jee no |
“You are in love with Chandarbhaga and you had compelled me in anger to leave the arena of amorous play
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਭਰਿ ਸ੍ਵਾਸ ਲਯੌ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਪਟੀਨੋ ॥੭੪੧॥
yau keh kai bhar svaas layau kab sayaam kahai at hee kapatteeno |741|
” The poet Shyam says that on saying this much, that deceitful one heaved a long sigh.741.
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਭਰੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਉਠੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਮੁਖ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਿਉ ॥
krodh bharee fir bol utthee brikhabhaan sutaa mukh sundar siau |
ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਰਸ ਕਉਨ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋ ਪਹਿ ਜਿਉ ॥
tum so ham so ras kaun rahiyo kab sayaam kahai bidh ko peh jiau |
Filled with fury, Radha spoke out from her beautiful mouth, “O Krishna! there is no love now between you and me, perhaps the Providence wanted that.”
ਹਰਿ ਯੌ ਕਹੀ ਮੋ ਹਿਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਸੋ ਉਨਿ ਕੋਪਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਉ ॥
har yau kahee mo hit hai tuhi so un kop kahiyo ham so kahu kiau |
Krishna says that he is enamoured of her, but she retorts in rage why was he enchanted of her?
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਬਲਿ ਇਉ ॥੭੪੨॥
tumare sang kel kare ban mai suneeyai bateeyaa hamaree bal iau |742|
She (Chandarbhaga) is absorbed in amorous play with you in the forest.742.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਬਾਚ ਰਾਧੇ ਸੋ ॥

ਮੋਹਿਯੋ ਹਉ ਤੇਰੋ ਸਖੀ ਚਲਿਬੋ ਪਿਖਿ ਮੋਹਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਹਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਪੇਖਤ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
mohiyo hau tero sakhee chalibo pikh mohiyo su hau drig pekhat tere |
“O dear! I am madly in love with you because of your gait and eyes
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਅਲਕੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਪਿਖਿ ਜਾਤ ਗਯੋ ਤਜਿ ਯਾ ਨਹੀ ਡੇਰੇ ॥
mohi rahiyo alakai tumaree pikh jaat gayo taj yaa nahee ddere |
I am enamoured of you by seeing your hair, therefore, I could not go to my home, abandoning it
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਅੰਗ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਢੀ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
mohi rahiyo tuhi ang nihaarat preet badtee tih te man mere |
“I am allured on even seeing your limbs, therefore my love for you has increased in my mind
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ਜਿਉ ਗਨ ਚੰਦ ਚਕੋਰਨ ਹੇਰੇ ॥੭੪੩॥
mohi rahiyo mukh tero nihaarat jiau gan chand chakoran here |743|
I have been enchanted on seeing your face like the partridge looking at the moon.743.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਮਾਨ ਕਰੋ ਸਜਨੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਸੰਗ ਚਲੋ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਅਬ ਹੀ ॥
taa te na maan karo sajanee muhi sang chalo utth kai ab hee |
“Therefore, O dear! do not remain engrossed in pride now, get up and go with me just now
ਹਮਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਸਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਘਨੀ ਕੁਪਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਸਬ ਹੀ ॥
hamaree tum so sakhee preet ghanee kup baat kaho taj kai sab hee |
I have profound love for you, forsake your ire and talk to me
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਛੁਦ੍ਰਨ ਬਾਤ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨ ਅਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਫਬਹੀ ॥
tih te ih chhudran baat kee reet kahiyo na aree tum ko fabahee |
“It does not behove you to talk in such an uncivilised way
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਸੁਨ ਮੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਚਲੀਯੈ ਇਹ ਕਾਜ ਕੀਏ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਲਭ ਹੀ ॥੭੪੪॥
tih te sun mo binatee chaleeyai ih kaaj kee na kachhoo labh hee |744|
Listen to my request and go, because no gain will accrue to you in this way.”744.
ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਜਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਰੀ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਰੰਚ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਸੋਊ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
at hee jab kaanrah karee binatee tab hee man ranch treeyaa soaoo maanee |
When Krishna requested many times, then that gopi (Radha) slightly agreed
ਦੂਰ ਕਰੀ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਗਨਤੀ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥
door karee man kee ganatee jab hee har kee tin preet pachhaanee |
She removed the illusion of her mind and recognised the love of Krishna:
ਤਉ ਇਮ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਈ ਜੋਊ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਨ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
tau im utar det bhee joaoo sundarataa meh treeyan raanee |
Radha, the queen of women in beauty replied to Krishna
ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਦਈ ਦੁਚਿਤਈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਰਸ ਬਾਤਨ ਸੋ ਨਿਜ ਕਾਨੀ ॥੭੪੫॥
tayaag dee duchitee man kee har so ras baatan so nij kaanee |745|
She abandoned the duality of her mind and began to talk about the passionate love with Krishna.745.
ਮੋਹਿ ਕਹੋ ਚਲੀਯੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੋ ਰਸ ਸਾਥ ਛਰੋਗੇ ॥
mohi kaho chaleeyai hamare sang jaanat ho ras saath chharoge |
Radha said, “Being allured you have asked me to go with you, but I know that through the passionate love, you will deceive me
ਰਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਸਖੀ ਜਾਨਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਸੰਗ ਅਰੋਗੇ ॥
raas bikhai ham ko sang lai sakhee jaanat gvaaran sang aroge |
You will take me alongwith you in the arena of amorous sport, but I know that there you will engage yourself with other gopis
ਹਉ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰਿ ਹਉ ਪੈ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰੋਗੇ ॥
hau nahee haar hau pai tum te tum hee ham te har haar paroge |
“O Krishna! I do not feel defeated by you, but in future also, you will be defeated by me
ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਲਵਾਇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਕਰੋਗੇ ॥੭੪੬॥
ek na jaanat kunj galeen lavaae kahiyo kachh kaaj karoge |746|
You do not know anything about any alcove, what will you do by taking me there.”746.
ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਭੀਤਰ ਭੀਨੀ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa kab sayaam kahai at jo har ke ras bheetar bheenee |
The poet Shyam says that Radha became absorbed in the love of Krishna
ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਛਬਿ ਦਾਤਨ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਚੀਨੀ ॥
ree brijanaath kahiyo has kai chhab daatan kee at sundar cheenee |
She said smilingly to the Lord of Braja and the winsome luster of her teeth,
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਜੁ ਭਈ ਕਬਿ ਕੇ ਸੋਊ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
taa chhab kee at hee upamaa man mai ju bhee kab ke soaoo keenee |
While smiling looked like the flash of lightning amongst the clouds, according to the poet
ਜਿਉ ਘਨ ਬੀਚ ਲਸੈ ਚਪਲਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਠਗ ਕੈ ਠਗਨੀ ਠਗ ਲੀਨੀ ॥੭੪੭॥
jiau ghan beech lasai chapalaa tih ko tthag kai tthaganee tthag leenee |747|
In this way that deceitful gopi (Radha) deceived the cheat (Krishna).747.
ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਭੀਤਰ ਭੀਨੀ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa kab sayaam kahai at jo har ke ras bheetar bheenee |
ਬੀਚ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਕੈ ਜਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ੍ਰਹ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਭੈ ਮਨਿ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
beech hulaas badtiyo man kai jab kaanrahrah kee baat sabhai man leenee |
Radha was completely filled with the passionate love of Krishna and remembering his words, she was filled with joy in her mind
ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਮੈ ਖੇਲਹਿੰਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੋਊ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
kunj galeen mai khelahinge har ke tin sang kahiyo soaoo keenee |
ਯੌ ਹਸਿ ਬਾਤ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਚਿਤਾਈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਜਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੭੪੮॥
yau has baat nisang kahiyo man kee duchitaaee sabh hee taj deenee |748|
She said, “I shall play with Krishna in the alcoves and I shall do whatever he says.” saying this, she, unhesitantingly, abandoned all her duality of the mind.748.
ਦੋਊ ਜਉ ਹਸਿ ਬਾਤਨ ਸੰਗ ਢਰੇ ਤੁ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਬਢੇ ਸਗਰੇ ॥
doaoo jau has baatan sang dtare tu hulaas bilaas badte sagare |
When both of them, talking smilingly, fell down, their love and merriment increased
ਹਸਿ ਕੰਠ ਲਗਾਇ ਲਈ ਲਲਨਾ ਗਹਿ ਗਾੜੇ ਅਨੰਗ ਤੇ ਅੰਕ ਭਰੇ ॥
has kantth lagaae lee lalanaa geh gaarre anang te ank bhare |
Krishna smilingly hugged that beloved to his bosom and with his strength he embraced her
ਤਰਕੀ ਹੈ ਤਨੀ ਦਰਕੀ ਅੰਗੀਆ ਗਰ ਮਾਲ ਤੇ ਟੂਟ ਕੈ ਲਾਲ ਪਰੇ ॥
tarakee hai tanee darakee angeea gar maal te ttoott kai laal pare |
In this act, the blouse of Radha was pulled and its string was broken
ਪੀਯ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਏ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ਕੇ ਹੀਯ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਰਾ ਬਿਰਹਾਗਨਿ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਰੇ ॥੭੪੯॥
peey ke mile treey ke heey te angaraa birahaagan ke nikare |749|
The gems of her necklace also broke and fell down, meeting her beloved, the limbs of Radha came out of the fire of separation.749.
ਹਰਿ ਰਾਧਿਕਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਲੇ ਬਨ ਲੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
har raadhikaa sang chale ban lai kab sayaam kahai man aanand paayo |
The poet says that Krishna, being filled with bliss in his mind, took Radha with him and went towards the forest
ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਮੈ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਬਿਸਰਾਯੋ ॥
kunj galeen mai kel kare man ko sabh sok huto bisaraayo |
Roaming in the alcoves, he forgot the sorrow of his mind
ਤਾਹੀ ਕਥਾ ਕੌ ਕਿਧੌ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਕ ਆਦਿਕ ਗਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
taahee kathaa kau kidhau jag mai man mai suk aadik gaae sunaayo |
This love-story has been sung by Shukdev and others
ਜੋਊ ਸੁਨੈ ਸੋਊ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਧਰਿ ਮੈ ਜਸੁ ਛਾਯੋ ॥੭੫੦॥
joaoo sunai soaoo reejh rahai jih ke sabh hee dhar mai jas chhaayo |750|
Krishna, whose praise has been spread throughout the whole world, whosoever listens to his story, is fascinated by it.750.

Death is ordained from the very beginning, and yet ego makes us cry.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਈਐ ॥੧॥
guramukh naam dhiaae asathir hoeeai |1|
Meditating on the Naam, as Gurmukh, one becomes stable and steady. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਚਲਣੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥
gur poore saabaas chalan jaaniaa |
Blessed is the Perfect Guru, through whom the way of Death is known.
ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
laahaa naam su saar sabad samaaniaa |1| rahaau |
The sublime people earn the profit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they are absorbed in the Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਡੇਹ ਸਿ ਆਏ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
poorab likhe ddeh si aae maaeaa |
The days of one's life are pre-ordained; they will come to their end, O mother.
ਚਲਣੁ ਅਜੁ ਕਿ ਕਲੑਿ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
chalan aj ki kala dhurahu furamaaeaa |2|
One must depart, today or tomorrow, according to the Lord's Primal Order. ||2||
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
birathaa janam tinaa jinaee naam visaariaa |
Useless are the lives of those, who have forgotten the Naam.
ਜੂਐ ਖੇਲਣੁ ਜਗਿ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
jooai khelan jag ki ihu man haariaa |3|
They play the game of chance in this world, and lose their mind. ||3||
ਜੀਵਣਿ ਮਰਣਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jeevan maran sukh hoe jinaa gur paaeaa |
Those who have found the Guru are at peace, in life and in death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੪॥
naanak sache sach sach samaaeaa |4|12|64|
O Nanak, the true ones are truly absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||12||64||

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
janam padaarath paae naam dhiaaeaa |
Having obtained the treasure of this human birth, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
gur parasaadee bujh sach samaaeaa |1|
By Guru's Grace, I understand, and I am absorbed into the True Lord. ||1||
ਜਿਨੑ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ਤਿਨੑੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
jina dhur likhiaa lekh tinaee naam kamaaeaa |
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny practice the Naam.
ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dar sachai sachiaar mehal bulaaeaa |1| rahaau |
The True Lord summons the truthful to the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
antar naam nidhaan guramukh paaeeai |
Deep within is the treasure of the Naam; it is obtained by the Gurmukh.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
anadin naam dhiaae har gun gaaeeai |2|
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੇਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
antar vasat anek manamukh nahee paaeeai |
Deep within are infinite substances, but the self-willed manmukh does not find them.
ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਈਐ ॥੩॥
haumai garabai garab aap khuaaeeai |3|
In egotism and pride, the mortal's proud self consumes him. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਈਐ ॥
naanak aape aap aap khuaaeeai |
O Nanak, his identity consumes his identical identity.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੬੫॥

Through the Guru's Teachings, the mind is illumined, and meets the True Lord. ||4||13||65||

ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਉ ॥

Night and day, I sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the Name of the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਇਆ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur mo kau har naam bataaeaa hau har bin khin pal reh na skau |1| rahaau |
The True Guru has revealed to me the Name of the Lord; without the Lord, I cannot live, for a moment, even an instant. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮਰੈ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਹਉ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ॥
hamarai sravan simaran har keeratan hau har bin reh na skau hau ik khin |
My ears hear the Lord's Kirtan, and I contemplate Him; without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant.
ਜੈਸੇ ਹੰਸੁ ਸਰਵਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ॥੧॥
jaise hans saravar bin reh na sakai taise har jan kiau rahai har sevaa bin |1|
As the swan cannot live without the lake, how can the Lord's slave live without serving Him? ||1||
ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਮੋਹ ਅਪਮਾਨ ॥
kinahoon preet laaee doojaa bhaau rid dhaar kinahoon preet laaee moh apamaan |
Some enshrine love for duality in their hearts, and some pledge love for worldly attachments and ego.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਪਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੬੬॥
har jan preet laaee har nirabaan pad naanak simarat har har bhagavaan |2|14|66|
The Lord's servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa; Nanak contemplates the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||14||66||

ਮਾਈ ਮੋਰੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
maaee moro preetam raam bataavahu ree maaee |
O mother, my mother, tell me about my Beloved Lord.
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਰਹਲੁ ਬੇਲਿ ਰੀਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau har bin khin pal reh na skau jaise karahal bel reejhaaee |1| rahaau |
Without the Lord, I cannot live for a moment, even an instant; I love Him, like the camel loves the vine. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਬਿਰਕਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੀਤ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥
hamaraa man bairaag birakat bheo har darasan meet kai taaee |
My mind has become sad and distant, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my Friend.
ਜੈਸੇ ਅਲਿ ਕਮਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jaise al kamalaa bin reh na sakai taise mohi har bin rehan na jaaee |1|
As the bumblebee cannot live without the lotus, I cannot live without the Lord. ||1||
ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
raakh saran jagadeesur piaare mohi saradhaa poor har gusaaee |
Keep me under Your Protection, O Beloved Master of the Universe; fulfill my faith, O Lord of the World.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੧੩॥੧੫॥੬੭॥
jan naanak kai man anad hot hai har darasan nimakh dikhaaee |2|39|13|15|67|
Servant Nanak's mind is filled with bliss, when he beholds the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, even for an instant. ||2||39||13||15||67||
