ਸੰਗ ਫਿਰੀ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਖੇਲਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੇ ਕਬਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਭੀਨੀ ॥
sang firee tumare har khelat sayaam kahe kab aanand bheenee |
The poet Shyam says that Radha said, “O Krishna! I was blissfully playing and roaming with you
ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਉਪਹਾਸ ਸਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਚੀਨ ਕੈ ਅਉਰ ਨ ਚੀਨੀ ॥
logan ko upahaas sahiyo tuhi moorat cheen kai aaur na cheenee |
I endured the ridicule of the people and did not recognize anyone else except you
ਹੇਤ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਤਜਿ ਹੇਤ ਦਸਾ ਇਹ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
het kariyo at hee tum so tum hoon taj het dasaa ih keenee |
“I was absorbed in love with you only, but you have forsaken my love and have brought me to such a state
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਸੰਗ ਅਉਰ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਕਹਿ ਸਾਸ ਲਯੋ ਅਖੀਯਾ ਭਰ ਲੀਨੀ ॥੭੩੨॥
preet karee sang aaur treeyaa keh saas layo akheeyaa bhar leenee |732|
You have loved other women,” saying this, Radha heaved a long sigh and tears came into her eyes.732.

ਮੇਰੋ ਘਨੋ ਹਿਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਸਖੀ ਅਉਰ ਕਿਸੀ ਨਹਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
mero ghano hit hai tum so sakhee aaur kisee neh gvaaran maahee |
“O my dear Radha! I only love you and not any other gopi
ਤੇਰੇ ਖਰੇ ਤੁਹਿ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੋ ਬਿਨ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਕੀ ਪਰਛਾਹੀ ॥
tere khare tuhi dekhat ho bin tvai tuhi moorat kee parachhaahee |
If you stay with me, I see you and if you do not stay, I see your shadow,”
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਗਹੀ ਬਹੀਯਾ ਚਲੀਯੈ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਹੀ ॥
yau keh kaanrah gahee baheeyaa chaleeyai ham so ban mai sukh paahee |
Saying this Krishna caught hold of the arm of Radha and said, “Let us go to the forest and abide in pleasure
ਹ ਹਾ ਚਲੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੂ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੭੩੩॥
h haa chal meree sahun meree sahun meree sahun teree sahun teree sahun naahee joo naahee |733|
I swear to you, I swear to you, let us go,” but Radha said, “I swear to you, I shall not go”.733.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਗਹੀ ਬਿਹੀਯਾ ਤਿਹੂ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਭੁਗੀਯਾ ਰਸ ਜੋ ਹੈ ॥
yau keh kaanrah gahee biheeyaa tihoo logan ko bhugeeyaa ras jo hai |
Talking in this way, the enjoyer of the passionate love of all the three worlds, caught hold of the arm of Radha
ਕੇਹਰਿ ਸੀ ਜਿਹ ਕੀ ਕਟਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਆਨਨ ਪੈ ਸਸਿ ਕੋਟਿਕ ਕੋ ਹੈ ॥
kehar see jih kee katt hai jih aanan pai sas kottik ko hai |
The waist of Krishna is slim like that of the lion and his face is beautiful like millions of moons
ਐਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਚਲੀਯੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
aiso kahiyo chaleeyai hamare sang jo sabh gvaaran ko man mohai |
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਰੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਲਾਲ ਹੀਐ ਮਧਿ ਜੋ ਹੈ ॥੭੩੪॥
yau keh kaahe karo binatee sun kai tuhi laal heeai madh jo hai |734|
Krishna, who allured the minds of the gopis, said, “You go with me, why are you doing this? I request you to say to me all that is in your mind.734.
ਕਾਹੇ ਉਰਾਹਨ ਦੇਤ ਸਖੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਘਨੀ ਹਮਰੀ ਸੰਗ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
kaahe uraahan det sakhee kahiyo preet ghanee hamaree sang tere |
“O my dear Radha! why are you getting sarcastic with me? I have love only for you
ਨਾਹਕ ਤੂੰ ਭਰਮੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
naahak toon bharamee man mai kachh baat na chandrabhagaa man mere |
You have fallen in illusion in vain, I have nothing in my mind regarding Chandarbhaga
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਠੋ ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨ ਸਭੈ ਚਲਿ ਖੇਲਹਿਾਂ ਪੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਤਟਿ ਕੇਰੇ ॥
taa te uttho taj maan sabhai chal khelahiaan pai jamunaa tatt kere |
“Therefore, forsaking your pride, go with me for playing on the bank of Yamuna
ਮਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਤ ਹਠੀ ਬਿਰਹਾਤੁਰ ਹੈ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਜਨ ਟੇਰੇ ॥੭੩੫॥
maanat hai neh baat hatthee birahaatur hai birahee jan ttere |735|
” The persistent Radha is not obeying Krishna, when, Krishna, over-wrought with separation is calling her.735.
ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਅਬ ਮਾਨ ਸਖੀ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਬਨ ਬੀਚ ਪਧਾਰੈ ॥
tayaag kahiyo ab maan sakhee ham hoon tum hoon ban beech padhaarai |
“O dear! forsake your pride and come, let both of us go to the forest
ਨਾਹਕ ਹੀ ਤੂ ਰਿਸੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਆਨ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਮਨ ਬਾਤ ਹਮਾਰੈ ॥
naahak hee too risee man mai nahee aan treeyaa man baat hamaarai |
You are angry in your mind uselessly, because there is not other woman in my mind
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਸੋਕ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਸੁਨੋ ਬਲਿ ਤੀਰ ਨਦੀ ਸਭ ਸੋਕਹਿ ਡਾਰੈ ॥
taa te asok ke saath suno bal teer nadee sabh sokeh ddaarai |
“Therefore listen to me with delight and go with me
ਯਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਅਉਰ ਭਲੀ ਕਛੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਮੈਨ ਕੋ ਮਾਨ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥੭੩੬॥
yaa te na aaur bhalee kachh hai mil kai ham main ko maan nivaarai |736|
On the bank of the river I shall say this that there is no other gopi so nice as you, after that let us both in unison shatter the pride of the god of love.736.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਰਸਾਤਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਢਿਗ ਬਾਤ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
kaanrah rasaatar hvai at hee brikhabhaan sutaa dtig baat uchaaree |
ਤਾਹਿ ਮਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਸੋਊ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੀ ॥
taeh manee har baat soaoo tin maan kee baat bidaa kar ddaaree |
When Krishna talked to Radha in extreme perturbance, she submitted to Krishna and abandoned her pride
ਹਾਥਹਿ ਸੋ ਬਹੀਆ ਗਹਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੁ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਅਬ ਖੇਲਹਿ ਯਾਰੀ ॥
haatheh so baheea geh sayaam su aise kahiyo ab kheleh yaaree |
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਰਾਧਕਾ ਸੋ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੋ ਮੋਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੭੩੭॥
kaanrah kahiyo tab raadhakaa so hamare sang kel karo moree piaaree |737|
Holding her hand, Krishna said, “Come my friend and most dear Radha! you absorb yourself in passionate play with me.”737.
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਹਥਿ ਕਰਿ ਤੰਤੁ ਵਜਾਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਥੋਥਰ ਵਾਜੈ ਬੇਨ ॥
hath kar tant vajaavai jogee thothar vaajai ben |
You may pluck the strings with your hand, O Yogi, but your playing of the harp is in vain.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੇਨ ॥੧॥
guramat har gun bolahu jogee ihu manooaa har rang bhen |1|
Under Guru's Instruction, chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, O Yogi, and this mind of yours shall be imbued with the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਜੋਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥
jogee har dehu matee upades |
O Yogi, give your intellect the Teachings of the Lord.
ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਹਮ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jug jug har har eko varatai tis aagai ham aades |1| rahaau |
The Lord, the One Lord, is pervading throughout all the ages; I humbly bow down to Him. ||1||Pause||
ਗਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਗ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖੇਲੈ ਖੇਲ ॥
gaaveh raag bhaat bahu boleh ihu manooaa khelai khel |
You sing in so many Ragas and harmonies, and you talk so much, but this mind of yours is only playing a game.
ਜੋਵਹਿ ਕੂਪ ਸਿੰਚਨ ਕਉ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਲ ਗਏ ਚਰਿ ਬੇਲ ॥੨॥
joveh koop sinchan kau basudhaa utth bail ge char bel |2|
You work the well and irrigate the fields, but the oxen have already left to graze in the jungle. ||2||
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਮੈ ਹਰਿਆ ਖੇਤੁ ॥
kaaeaa nagar meh karam har bovahu har jaamai hariaa khet |
In the field of the body, plant the Lord's Name, and the Lord will sprout there, like a lush green field.
ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਬੈਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੋਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜੇਤੁ ॥੩॥
manooaa asathir bail man jovahu har sinchahu guramat jet |3|
O mortal, hook up your unstable mind like an ox, and irrigate your fields with the Lord's Name, through the Guru's Teachings. ||3||
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਜੋ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਚੇਲ ॥
jogee jangam srisatt sabh tumaree jo dehu matee tith chel |
The Yogis, the wandering Jangams, and all the world is Yours, O Lord. According to the wisdom which You give them, so do they follow their ways.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੇਲ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੧॥
jan naanak ke prabh antarajaamee har laavahu manooaa pel |4|9|61|
O Lord God of servant Nanak, O Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts, please link my mind to You. ||4||9||61||

ਕਬ ਕੋ ਭਾਲੈ ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਤਾਲਾ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਬਜਾਵੈ ਰਬਾਬੁ ॥
kab ko bhaalai ghungharoo taalaa kab ko bajaavai rabaab |
How long must one search for angle bells and cymbals, and how long must one play the guitar?
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਾਰ ਖਿਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਹਉ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਮਾਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
aavat jaat baar khin laagai hau tab lag samaarau naam |1|
In the brief instant between coming and going, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਐਸੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
merai man aisee bhagat ban aaee |
Such is the devotional love which has been produced in my mind.
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau har bin khin pal reh na skau jaise jal bin meen mar jaaee |1| rahaau |
Without the Lord, I cannot live even for an instant, like the fish which dies without water. ||1||Pause||
ਕਬ ਕੋਊ ਮੇਲੈ ਪੰਚ ਸਤ ਗਾਇਣ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਗ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਠਾਵੈ ॥
kab koaoo melai panch sat gaaein kab ko raag dhun utthaavai |
How long must one tune the five strings, and assemble the seven singers, and how long will they raise their voices in song?
ਮੇਲਤ ਚੁਨਤ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਚਸਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
melat chunat khin pal chasaa laagai tab lag meraa man raam gun gaavai |2|
In the time it takes to select and assemble these musicians, a moment elapses, and my mind sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਕਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਚੈ ਪਾਵ ਪਸਾਰੈ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰੈ ॥
kab ko naachai paav pasaarai kab ko haath pasaarai |
How long must one dance and stretch out one's feet, and how long must one reach out with one's hands?
ਹਾਥ ਪਾਵ ਪਸਾਰਤ ਬਿਲਮੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਸਮੑਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
haath paav pasaarat bilam til laagai tab lag meraa man raam samaarai |3|
Stretching out one's hands and feet, there is a moment's delay; and then, my mind meditates on the Lord. ||3||
ਕਬ ਕੋਊ ਲੋਗਨ ਕਉ ਪਤੀਆਵੈ ਲੋਕਿ ਪਤੀਣੈ ਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
kab koaoo logan kau pateeaavai lok pateenai naa pat hoe |
How long must one satisfy the people, in order to obtain honor?
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਤਾ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੨॥
jan naanak har hiradai sad dhiaavahu taa jai jai kare sabh koe |4|10|62|
O servant Nanak, meditate forever in your heart on the Lord, and then everyone will congratulate you. ||4||10||62||

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
satasangat mileeai har saadhoo mil sangat har gun gaae |
Join the Sat Sangat, the Lord's True Congregation; joining the Company of the Holy, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਲਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
giaan ratan baliaa ghatt chaanan agiaan andheraa jaae |1|
With the sparkling jewel of spiritual wisdom, the heart is illumined, and ignorance is dispelled. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
har jan naachahu har har dhiaae |
O humble servant of the Lord, let your dancing be meditation on the Lord, Har, Har.
ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਮ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਧੋਵਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aise sant mileh mere bhaaee ham jan ke dhovah paae |1| rahaau |
If only I cold meet such Saints, O my Siblings of Destiny; I would wash the feet of such servants. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
har har naam japahu man mere anadin har liv laae |
Meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O my mind; night and day, center your consciousness on the Lord.
ਜੋ ਇਛਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
jo ichhahu soee fal paavahu fir bhookh na laagai aae |2|
You shall have the fruits of your desires, and you shall never feel hunger again. ||2||
ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
aape har aparanpar karataa har aape bol bulaae |
The Infinite Lord Himself is the Creator; the Lord Himself speaks, and causes us to speak.
ਸੇਈ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥
seee sant bhale tudh bhaaveh jina kee pat paaveh thaae |3|
The Saints are good, who are pleasing to Your Will; their honor is approved by You. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਰਾਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਿਉ ਆਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
naanak aakh na raajai har gun jiau aakhai tiau sukh paae |
Nanak is not satisfied by chanting the Lord's Glorious Praises; the more he chants them, the more he is at peace.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਦੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਵਣਜਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੩॥
bhagat bhanddaar dee har apune gun gaahak vanaj lai jaae |4|11|63|
The Lord Himself has bestowed the treasure of devotional love; His customers purchase virtues, and carry them home. ||4||11||63||
