ਦੇਖਤ ਹੈ ਤੁ ਕਹਾ ਭਯੋ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਮੈ ਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਪਹਿ ਜੈਹੋ ॥
dekhat hai tu kahaa bhayo gvaaran mai na kahiyo tih ke peh jaiho |
“What should I do, if he is anxious? I have already said that I shall not go
ਕਾਹੇ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਉਰਾਹਨ ਰੀ ਸਹਿ ਹੋ ਅਪਨੋ ਪਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਅਘੈ ਹੋ ॥
kaahe ke kaaj uraahan ree seh ho apano pat dekh aghai ho |
For what I should endure the sarcasm? I shall remain pleased with my husband
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਰਚੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਉਰ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਕਹਾ ਜਸ ਪੈਹੋ ॥
sayaam rache sang aaur treeyaa tih ke peh jaae kahaa jas paiho |
“Krishna is roaming with other women, what approbation will I attain, if I go to him?
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਪਧਾਰਹੁ ਰੀ ਸਜਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੌ ਨਹਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖੈ ਹੋ ॥੭੨੭॥
taa te padhaarahu ree sajanee har kau neh jeevat roop dikhai ho |727|
Therefore, O friend! you may go, I shall not be seen by Krishna now in my life.”727.
ਅਥ ਮੈਨਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਜੀ ਪਾਸ ਫਿਰ ਆਈ ॥

Now begins the description of the return of Mainprabha to Krishna
ਦੂਤੀ ਬਾਚ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਸੋ ॥

ਯੌ ਜਬ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਸੋਊ ਨੰਦ ਲਲਾ ਪਹਿ ਆਈ ॥
yau jab taeh sunee bateeyaa utth kai soaoo nand lalaa peh aaee |
ਆਇ ਕੈ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਨਹਿ ਮਾਨਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਨਾਈ ॥
aae kai aise kahiyo har pai har joo neh maanat moorr manaaee |
When Mainprabha heard all this talk, she got up and came to the son of Nand and said, “O Krishna! that fool was greatly persuaded, but still persists in not coming
ਕੈ ਤਜਿ ਵਾਹਿ ਰਚੌ ਇਨ ਸੋ ਨਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੂੰ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਲਿਆਉ ਮਨਾਈ ॥
kai taj vaeh rachau in so nahee aap hoon jaae kai liaau manaaee |
“Now leave her and roam with these gopis, or you may go yourself and bring her after persuation
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਾਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਹ ਕੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਧਾਈ ॥੭੨੮॥
yau sun baat chaliyo teh ko kab sayaam kahai har aap hee dhaaee |728|
” Hearing these words, the poet Shyam says that Krishna went himself towards her.728.
ਅਉਰ ਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨਿ ਕੋਊ ਪਠੀ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਤਬ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਯੋ ॥
aaur na gvaarin koaoo patthee chal kai har joo tab aap hee aayo |
Krishna did not send another gopi and came himself
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
taahee ko roop nihaarat hee brikhabhaan sutaa man mai sukh paayo |
Seeing him, Radha was extremely pleased
ਪਾਇ ਘਨੋ ਸੁਖ ਪੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਾਨ ਸੋ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
paae ghano sukh pai man mai at aoopar maan so bol sunaayo |
Though she was greatly satisfied in her mind but still externally showing her pride,
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ ਹੂੰ ਸੋ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੋ ਇਹ ਠਉਰ ਕਹਾ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜਹਿ ਆਯੋ ॥੭੨੯॥
chandrabhagaa hoon so kel karo ih tthaur kahaa taj laajeh aayo |729|
She said, “You keep yourself absorbed in amorous sport with Chandarbhaga, why have you come here forsaking your shyness?”729.

ਰਾਸਹਿ ਕਿਉ ਤਜਿ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਪਹਿ ਕਿਉ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਆਯੋ ॥
raaseh kiau taj chandrabhagaa chal kai hamare peh kiau kahiyo aayo |
“O Krishna! why have you come here to me, leaving Chandarbhaga in the arena of amorous sport?
ਕਿਉ ਇਹ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਮਾਨ ਕੈ ਆਪਨ ਹੀ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਸਖੀ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
kiau ih gvaaran kee sikh maan kai aapan hee utth kai sakhee dhaayo |
Why have you come yourself agreeing with these gopis (messengers)?
ਜਾਨਤ ਥੀ ਕਿ ਬਡੋ ਠਗੁ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤਨ ਤੇ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jaanat thee ki baddo tthag hai ih baatan te ab hee lakh paayo |
“I knew you as a very great cheat and now it has become clear by your actions
ਕਿਉ ਹਮਰੇ ਪਹਿ ਆਏ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਤੋ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੭੩੦॥
kiau hamare peh aae kahiyo ham to tum ko nahee bol patthaayo |730|
Why are you calling me? I have not called you.”730.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਬਾਚ ਰਾਧੇ ਸੋ ॥

Speech of Krishna addressed to Radha:

ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਰੀ ਤੁਹਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਬੋਲ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
yau sun utar det bhayo neh ree tuhi gvaaran bol patthaayo |
Listening to this answer, Krishna said, “All your gopi-friends are calling you there
ਨੈਨਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਵ ਘਨੇ ਸਰ ਸੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਮਨੂਆ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
nainan ke kar bhaav ghane sar so hamaro manooaa mrig ghaayo |
My mind-deer has been wounded because of the profuse arrows of your eyes
ਤਾ ਬਿਰਹਾਗਨਿ ਸੋ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਬਲਿ ਅੰਗ ਜਰਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਗਯੋ ਨ ਬਚਾਯੋ ॥
taa birahaagan so suneeyai bal ang jariyo su gayo na bachaayo |
“I am burning in the fire of separation and have not been able to save myself
ਤੇਰੇ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ਨ ਆਯੋ ਹੋ ਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਜਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਸੇਕਿਨਿ ਆਯੋ ॥੭੩੧॥
tere bulaayo na aayo ho ree tih tthaur jare kahu sekin aayo |731|
I have not come at your call, I was burning there, therefore I have come here.”731.

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
gun gaavaa gun bolee baanee |
I sing His Glorious Praises, and through the Word of His Bani, I speak His Glorious Praises.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
guramukh har gun aakh vakhaanee |1|
As Gurmukh, I chant and recite the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
jap jap naam man bheaa anandaa |
Chanting and meditating on the Naam, my mind becomes blissful.
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ਰਸਿ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sat sat satigur naam dirraaeaa ras gaae gun paramaanandaa |1| rahaau |
The True Guru has implanted the True Name of the True Lord within me; I sing His Glorious Praises, and taste the supreme ecstasy. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਲੋਗਾ ॥
har gun gaavai har jan logaa |
The humble servants of the Lord sing the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਜੋਗਾ ॥੨॥
vaddai bhaag paae har nirajogaa |2|
By great good fortune, the detached, absolute Lord is obtained. ||2||
ਗੁਣ ਵਿਹੂਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਲੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
gun vihoon maaeaa mal dhaaree |
Those without virtue are stained by Maya's filth.
ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਣ ਜਨਮਿ ਮੁਏ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
vin gun janam mue ahankaaree |3|
Lacking virtue, the egotistical die, and suffer reincarnation. ||3||
ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਟਿ ਕੀਏ ॥
sareer sarovar gun paragatt kee |
The ocean of the body yields pearls of virtue.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਥਿ ਤਤੁ ਕਢੀਏ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੭॥
naanak guramukh math tat kadtee |4|5|57|
O Nanak, the Gurmukh churns this ocean, and discovers this essence. ||4||5||57||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੀ ਨਾਮੋ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
naam sunee naamo man bhaavai |
I listen to the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Naam is pleasing to my mind.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
vaddai bhaag guramukh har paavai |1|
By great good fortune, the Gurmukh obtains the Lord. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
naam japahu guramukh paragaasaa |
Chant the Naam, as Gurmukh, and be exalted.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam binaa mai dhar nahee kaaee naam raviaa sabh saas giraasaa |1| rahaau |
Without the Naam, I have no other support; the Naam is woven into all my breaths and morsels of food. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
naamai surat sunee man bhaaee |
The Naam illuminates my mind; listening to it, my mind is pleased.
ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
jo naam sunaavai so meraa meet sakhaaee |2|
One who speaks the Naam - he alone is my friend and companion. ||2||
ਨਾਮਹੀਣ ਗਏ ਮੂੜ ਨੰਗਾ ॥
naamaheen ge moorr nangaa |
Without the Naam, the fools depart naked.
ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥੩॥
pach pach mue bikh dekh patangaa |3|
They burn away to death, chasing the poison of Maya, like the moth chasing the flame. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ॥
aape thaape thaap uthaape |
He Himself establishes, and, having established, disestablishes.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੮॥
naanak naam devai har aape |4|6|58|
O Nanak, the Lord Himself bestows the Naam. ||4||6||58||

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਲਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥
guramukh har har vel vadhaaee |
The vine of the Lord's Name, Har, Har, has taken root in the Gurmukh.
ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਕ ਰਸਾਈ ॥੧॥
fal laage har rasak rasaaee |1|
It bears the fruit of the Lord; its taste is so tasty! ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
har har naam jap anat tarangaa |
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in endless waves of joy.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਜਮਕੰਕਰ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jap jap naam guramat saalaahee maariaa kaal jamakankar bhueiangaa |1| rahaau |
Chant and repeat the Naam; through the Guru's Teachings praise the Lord, and slay the horrible serpent of the Messenger of Death. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
har har gur meh bhagat rakhaaee |
The Lord has implanted His devotional worship in the Guru.
ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਸਿਖ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੨॥
gur tutthaa sikh devai mere bhaaee |2|
When the Guru is pleased, He bestows it upon His Sikh, O my siblings of Destiny. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
haumai karam kichh bidh nahee jaanai |
One who acts in ego, knows nothing about the Way.
ਜਿਉ ਕੁੰਚਰੁ ਨਾਇ ਖਾਕੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
jiau kunchar naae khaak sir chhaanai |3|
He acts like an elephant, who takes a bath, and then throws dust on his head. ||3||
ਜੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਵਡ ਊਚੇ ॥
je vadd bhaag hoveh vadd aooche |
If one's destiny is great and exalted,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਸੂਚੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੯॥
naanak naam japeh sach sooche |4|7|59|
O Nanak, one chants the Naam, the Name of the Immaculate, True Lord. ||4||7||59||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਭੂਖ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
har har naam kee man bhookh lagaaee |
My mind suffers hunger for the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਨਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥
naam suniai man tripatai mere bhaaee |1|
Hearing the Naam, my mind is satisfied, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
naam japahu mere gurasikh meetaa |
Chant the Naam, O my friends, O GurSikhs.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam japahu naame sukh paavahu naam rakhahu guramat man cheetaa |1| rahaau |
Chant the Naam, and through the Naam, obtain peace; through the Guru's Teachings, enshrine the Naam in your heart and mind. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਰਸਾ ॥
naamo naam sunee man sarasaa |
Hearing the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind is in bliss.
ਨਾਮੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਗਸਾ ॥੨॥
naam laahaa lai guramat bigasaa |2|
Reaping the profit of the Naam, through the Guru's Teachings, my soul has blossomed forth. ||2||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧਾ ॥
naam binaa kusattee moh andhaa |
Without the Naam, the mortal is a leper, blinded by emotional attachment.
ਸਭ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਦੁਖੁ ਧੰਧਾ ॥੩॥
sabh nihafal karam kee dukh dhandhaa |3|
All his actions are fruitless; they lead only to painful entanglements. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਪੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
har har har jas japai vaddabhaagee |
The very fortunate ones chant the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੬੦॥
naanak guramat naam liv laagee |4|8|60|
O Nanak, through the Guru's Teachings, one embraces love for the Naam. ||4||8||60||
