ਪਾਂਇ ਗਹੇ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਆਂਖ ਤਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਨ︀ਯੋ ॥
paane gahe jab te tumare tab te koaoo aankh tare naheen aanayo |
O God! the day when I caught hold of your feet, I do not bring anyone else under my sight
ਰਾਮ ਰਹੀਮ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਹੈਂ ਮਤ ਏਕ ਨ ਮਾਨ︀ਯੋ ॥
raam raheem puraan kuraan anek kahain mat ek na maanayo |
None other is liked by me now the Puranas and the Quran try to know Thee by the names of Ram and Rahim and talk about you through several stories,
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਸਭੈ ਬਹੁ ਭੇਦ ਕਹੈਂ ਹਮ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨ︀ਯੋ ॥
sinmrit saasatr bed sabhai bahu bhed kahain ham ek na jaanayo |
The Simritis, Shastras and Vedas describe several mysteries of yours, but I do not agree with any of them.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਸਿਪਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਨ ਕਹ︀ਯੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਖਾਨ︀ਯੋ ॥੮੬੩॥
sree asipaan kripaa tumaree kar mai na kehayo sabh tohi bakhaanayo |863|
O sword-wielder God! This all has been described by Thy Grace, what power can I have to write all this?.863.

ਸਗਲ ਦੁਆਰ ਕਉ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਗਹਿਓ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਦੁਆਰ ॥

O Lord! I have forsaken all other doors and have caught hold of only Thy door. O Lord! Thou has caught hold of my arm
ਬਾਂਹਿ ਗਹੇ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਅਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਹਾਰ ॥੮੬੪॥
baanhi gahe kee laaj as gobind daas tuhaar |864|
I, Govind, am Thy serf, kindly take (care of me and) protect my honour.864.

jais bhaat bap dhariyo muraaroo |
No I describe the Krishna incarnation as to how he assumed the physical form
ਪਰਮ ਪਾਪ ਤੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਡਰਾਨੀ ॥
param paap te bhoom ddaraanee |
ਡਗਮਗਾਤ ਬਿਧ ਤੀਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਨੀ ॥੧॥

The earth, with unsteady gait, reached near the Lord.1.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਗਯੋ ਛੀਰ ਨਿਧਿ ਜਹਾ ॥
brahamaa gayo chheer nidh jahaa |
ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇਸਥਿਤ ਥੇ ਤਹਾ ॥
kaal purakh isathit the tahaa |
Amidst the milk-ocean, where the Immanent Lord was seated, Brahma reached there
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਕਹੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
kahiyo bisan kahu nikatt bulaaee |
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
krisan avataar dharahu tum jaaee |2|
The Lord called Vishnu near Him and said, “You go to the earth and assume the form of Krishna incarnation.2.

ਮਥੁਰਾ ਮੰਡਲ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਧਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥੩॥
mathuraa manddal ke bikhai janam dharo har raae |3|
Vishnu took birth in Mathura area for the welfare of saints, on receiving the orders of the Loard.3.

The sportive plays exhibited by Krishna, have been described in the tenth skandh

ਕਹੇ ਦਸਮ ਪੁਰ ਬੈਠਿ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥੪॥

There are eleven thousand and ninety-two stanzas in respect of Krishna incarnation in the tenth skandh.4.

ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਤੁ ਸਭੈ ਸਗਨੰ ਗੁਨ ਹੀ ਧਰਿ ਹੋਂ ॥
hoe kripaa tumaree ham pai tu sabhai saganan gun hee dhar hon |
On receiving Thy Grace, I shall assume all the virtues
ਜੀਅ ਧਾਰਿ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਤਬੈ ਬਰ ਬੁਧਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਗਨੰ ਗੁਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਂ ॥
jeea dhaar bichaar tabai bar budh mahaa aganan gun ko har hon |
I shall destroy all the vices, ruminating on Thy attributes in my mind
ਬਿਨੁ ਚੰਡਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਅਛਰ ਹਉ ਕਰਿ ਹੋਂ ॥
bin chandd kripaa tumaree kabahoon mukh te nahee achhar hau kar hon |
O Chandi! I cannot utter a syllable from my mouth without Thy Grace
ਤੁਮਰੋ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਧੋ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਜਿਮ ਬਾਕ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਰਿ ਹੋਂ ॥੫॥
tumaro kar naam kidho tulahaa jim baak samundr bikhai tar hon |5|
I can ferry across the ocean of Poesy, on only the boat of Thy Name.5.

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰਦਾ ਅਨਗਨ ਗੁਨ ਹੈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
re man bhaj toon saaradaa anagan gun hai jaeh |
O mind! Remember the goddess Sharda of innumerable qualities
ਰਚੌ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਇਹ ਭਾਗਵਤ ਜਉ ਵੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਾਹਿ ॥੬॥
rachau granth ih bhaagavat jau vai kripaa karaeh |6|
And if she be kind, I may compose this Granth (based on) Bhagavata.6.

ਸੰਕਟ ਹਰਨ ਸਭ ਸਿਧਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਨ ਚੰਡ ਤਾਰਨ ਤਰਨ ਅਰੁ ਲੋਚਨ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ ॥
sankatt haran sabh sidh kee karan chandd taaran taran ar lochan bisaal hai |
The large-eyed Chandika is the remover of all sufferings, the donor of powers and support of the helpless in ferrying across the fearful ocean of the world
ਆਦਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਆਹਮ ਹੈ ਅੰਤ ਕੋ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਉਬਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਹੈ ॥
aad jaa kai aaham hai ant ko na paaraavaar saran ubaaran karan pratipaal hai |
It is difficult to know her beginning and end, she emancipates and sustains him, who takes refuge in her,
ਅਸੁਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਰਨ ਸੋ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਛਡਾਏ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ਹੈ ॥
asur sanghaaran anik dukh jaaran so patit udhaaran chhaddaae jam jaal hai |
She destroys the demons, finishes various types of desires and saves from the noose of death
ਦੇਵੀ ਬਰੁ ਲਾਇਕ ਸੁਬੁਧਿ ਹੂ ਕੀ ਦਾਇਕ ਸੁ ਦੇਹ ਬਰੁ ਪਾਇਕ ਬਨਾਵੈ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
devee bar laaeik subudh hoo kee daaeik su deh bar paaeik banaavai granth haal hai |7|
The same goddess is capable of bestowing the boon and good intellect by her Grace this Granth can be composed.7.

ਅਦ੍ਰ ਸੁਤਾ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਤਨਯਾ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਰਤਾ ਫੁਨਿ ਜੋਊ ॥
adr sutaa hoon kee jo tanayaa mahikhaasur kee marataa fun joaoo |
She, who is the daughter of the mountain and the destroyer of Mahishasura
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਹਿ ਕੀ ਦਵੈਯਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਬਧ ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭਹਿ ਦੋਊ ॥
eindr ko raajeh kee davaiyaa karataa badh sunbh nisunbheh doaoo |
She, who is the bestower of the kingdom on India by killing Sumbh and Nisumbh
ਜੋ ਜਪ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੈ ਬਰੁ ਕੋ ਸੁ ਲਹੈ ਮਨ ਇਛਤ ਸੋਊ ॥
jo jap kai ih sev karai bar ko su lahai man ichhat soaoo |
He, who remembers and serves her, he receives the reward to his heart’s desire,
ਲੋਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਉਹ ਕੀ ਸਮਤੁਲ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਨ ਦੂਸਰ ਕੋਊ ॥੮॥
lok bikhai uh kee samatul gareeb nivaaj na doosar koaoo |8|
And in the whole world, none other is the supporter of the poor like her.8.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦੇਵੀ ਜੂ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥
eit sree devee joo kee usatat samaapatan |
End of the praise of the goddess,
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
saajan sant karahu ihu kaam |
O friends, O Saints, make this your work.
ਆਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
aan tiaag japahu har naam |
Renounce everything else, and chant the Name of the Lord.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
simar simar simar sukh paavahu |
Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.
ਆਪਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
aap japahu avarah naam japaavahu |
Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire others to chant it.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੀਐ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
bhagat bhaae tareeai sansaar |
By loving devotional worship, you shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
bin bhagatee tan hosee chhaar |
Without devotional meditation, the body will be just ashes.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
sarab kaliaan sookh nidh naam |
All joys and comforts are in the treasure of the Naam.
ਬੂਡਤ ਜਾਤ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
booddat jaat paae bisraam |
Even the drowning can reach the place of rest and safety.
ਸਗਲ ਦੂਖ ਕਾ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
sagal dookh kaa hovat naas |
All sorrows shall vanish.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਗੁਨਤਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
naanak naam japahu gunataas |5|
O Nanak, chant the Naam, the treasure of excellence. ||5||
ਉਪਜੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਉ ॥
aupajee preet prem ras chaau |
Love and affection, and the taste of yearning, have welled up within;
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
man tan antar ihee suaau |
within my mind and body, this is my purpose:
ਨੇਤ੍ਰਹੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
netrahu pekh daras sukh hoe |
beholding with my eyes His Blessed Vision, I am at peace.
ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸਾਧ ਚਰਨ ਧੋਇ ॥
man bigasai saadh charan dhoe |
My mind blossoms forth in ecstasy, washing the feet of the Holy.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
bhagat janaa kai man tan rang |
The minds and bodies of His devotees are infused with His Love.
ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
biralaa koaoo paavai sang |
Rare is the one who obtains their company.
ਏਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥
ek basat deejai kar meaa |
Show Your mercy - please, grant me this one request:
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
gur prasaad naam jap leaa |
by Guru's Grace, may I chant the Naam.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
taa kee upamaa kahee na jaae |
His Praises cannot be spoken;
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੬॥
naanak rahiaa sarab samaae |6|
O Nanak, He is contained among all. ||6||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਖਸੰਦ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
prabh bakhasand deen deaal |
God, the Forgiving Lord, is kind to the poor.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
bhagat vachhal sadaa kirapaal |
He loves His devotees, and He is always merciful to them.
ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
anaath naath gobind gupaal |
The Patron of the patronless, the Lord of the Universe, the Sustainer of the world,
ਸਰਬ ਘਟਾ ਕਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
sarab ghattaa karat pratipaal |
the Nourisher of all beings.
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
aad purakh kaaran karataar |
The Primal Being, the Creator of the Creation.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
bhagat janaa ke praan adhaar |
The Support of the breath of life of His devotees.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
jo jo japai su hoe puneet |
Whoever meditates on Him is sanctified,
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਵੈ ਮਨ ਹੀਤ ॥
bhagat bhaae laavai man heet |
focusing the mind in loving devotional worship.
ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰ ਨੀਚ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
ham niraguneeaar neech ajaan |
I am unworthy, lowly and ignorant.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੭॥
naanak tumaree saran purakh bhagavaan |7|
Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, O Supreme Lord God. ||7||
ਸਰਬ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਮੋਖ ਪਾਏ ॥
sarab baikuntth mukat mokh paae |
Everything is obtained: the heavens, liberation and deliverance,
ਏਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥
ek nimakh har ke gun gaae |
if one sings the Lord's Glories, even for an instant.
ਅਨਿਕ ਰਾਜ ਭੋਗ ਬਡਿਆਈ ॥
anik raaj bhog baddiaaee |
So many realms of power, pleasures and great glories,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
har ke naam kee kathaa man bhaaee |
come to one whose mind is pleased with the Sermon of the Lord's Name.
ਬਹੁ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਾਪਰ ਸੰਗੀਤ ॥
bahu bhojan kaapar sangeet |
Abundant foods, clothes and music
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
rasanaa japatee har har neet |
come to one whose tongue continually chants the Lord's Name, Har, Har.
ਭਲੀ ਸੁ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਧਨਵੰਤ ॥
bhalee su karanee sobhaa dhanavant |
His actions are good, he is glorious and wealthy;
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ ॥
hiradai base pooran gur mant |
the Mantra of the Perfect Guru dwells within his heart.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
saadhasang prabh dehu nivaas |
O God, grant me a home in the Company of the Holy.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੮॥੨੦॥
sarab sookh naanak paragaas |8|20|
All pleasures, O Nanak, are so revealed. ||8||20||

ਸਰਗੁਨ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਆਪਿ ॥
saragun niragun nirankaar sun samaadhee aap |
He possesses all qualities; He transcends all qualities; He is the Formless Lord. He Himself is in Primal Samaadhi.
ਆਪਨ ਕੀਆ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੧॥
aapan keea naanakaa aape hee fir jaap |1|
Through His Creation, O Nanak, He meditates on Himself. ||1||

ਜਬ ਅਕਾਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ ॥
jab akaar ihu kachh na drisattetaa |
When this world had not yet appeared in any form,
ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਤਬ ਕਹ ਤੇ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
paap pun tab keh te hotaa |
who then committed sins and performed good deeds?
ਜਬ ਧਾਰੀ ਆਪਨ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ॥
jab dhaaree aapan sun samaadh |
When the Lord Himself was in Profound Samaadhi,
ਤਬ ਬੈਰ ਬਿਰੋਧ ਕਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਮਾਤਿ ॥
tab bair birodh kis sang kamaat |
then against whom were hate and jealousy directed?
ਜਬ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਰਨੁ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਪਤ ॥
jab is kaa baran chihan na jaapat |
When there was no color or shape to be seen,
ਤਬ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ॥
tab harakh sog kahu kiseh biaapat |
then who experienced joy and sorrow?
ਜਬ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਆਪਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥
jab aapan aap aap paarabraham |
When the Supreme Lord Himself was Himself All-in-all,
ਤਬ ਮੋਹ ਕਹਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਹੋਵਤ ਭਰਮ ॥
tab moh kahaa kis hovat bharam |
then where was emotional attachment, and who had doubts?
ਆਪਨ ਖੇਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੀਜਾ ॥
