There was great tumult in the whole city and none of the residents was in his senses
ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਡੋਲਤ ਦੁਖਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਜਾਨੁਕ ਗਿਰੇ ਜੂਝਿ ਜੁਝਿਆਰੇ ॥੮੫੧॥

The men and women staggered like the warriors writhing after falling during fight in the battlefield.851.
ਸਗਰ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਰ ਗਈ ਰਉਰਾ ॥
sagar nagar meh par gee rauraa |
ਬਯਾਕੁਲ ਗਿਰੇ ਹਸਤ ਅਰੁ ਘੋਰਾ ॥
bayaakul gire hasat ar ghoraa |
There was uproar throughout the city and the elephants and horses also began to fall, being worried, what type of sport has been played by Ram?
ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਮਨ ਰਹਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥
nar naaree man rehat udaasaa |
ਕਹਾ ਰਾਮ ਕਰ ਗਏ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥੮੫੨॥

Thinking about this thing the men and women remained under depression.852.
ਭਰਥਊ ਜੋਗ ਸਾਧਨਾ ਸਾਜੀ ॥

ਜੋਗ ਅਗਨ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਉਪਰਾਜੀ ॥
jog agan tan te uparaajee |
Bharat also produced Yoga fire in his body by practising Yoga and
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਰੰਧ੍ਰ ਝਟ ਦੈ ਕਰ ਫੋਰਾ ॥
brahamarandhr jhatt dai kar foraa |
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੌ ਚਲਤ ਅੰਗ ਨਹੀ ਮੋਰਾ ॥੮੫੩॥

With a jerk got his Brahmrandhra burst and definitely went towards Ram.853.
ਸਕਲ ਜੋਗ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਬਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
sakal jog ke kee bidhaanaa |
ਲਛਮਨ ਤਜੇ ਤੈਸ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾ ॥
lachhaman taje tais hee praanaa |
Lakshman alos did this, practicing all types of Yoga he gave up his life.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਰੰਧ੍ਰ ਲਵ ਅਰਿ ਫੁਨ ਫੂਟਾ ॥
brahamarandhr lav ar fun foottaa |
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨਨ ਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਨਿਖੂਟਾ ॥੮੫੪॥
prabh charanan tar praan nikhoottaa |854|
Then the Brahmrandhra of Shatrughan also burst and he breathed his last to be at the feet of the Lord.854.
ਲਵ ਕੁਸ ਦੋਊ ਤਹਾ ਚਲ ਗਏ ॥
lav kus doaoo tahaa chal ge |
ਰਘੁਬਰ ਸੀਅਹਿ ਜਰਾਵਤ ਭਏ ॥
raghubar seeeh jaraavat bhe |
Lava and Kusha both came forward and performed the funeral rites of Ram and Sita
ਅਰ ਪਿਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਕਹ ਦਹਾ ॥
ar pit bhraat tihoon keh dahaa |
ਰਾਜ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਲਵ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਰਹਾ ॥੮੫੫॥
raaj chhatr lav ke sir rahaa |855|
They also performed the funeral rites of the brothers of their father and in this way Lava assumed the royal canopy over his head.855.
ਤਿਹੂੰਅਨ ਕੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਆਈ ॥
tihoonan kee isatree tih aaee |
ਸੰਗਿ ਸਤੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸੁਰਗ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥
sang satee hvai surag sidhaaee |
The wives of the three brothers came there and they also became Satis and left for the heavenly abode.
ਲਵ ਸਿਰ ਧਰਾ ਰਾਜ ਕਾ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
lav sir dharaa raaj kaa saajaa |
ਤਿਹੂੰਅਨ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਕੁੰਟ ਕੀਅ ਰਾਜਾ ॥੮੫੬॥
tihoonan tihoon kuntt keea raajaa |856|
Lava assumed the kingship and made the three (cousins) the kings of three directions.856.
ਉਤਰ ਦੇਸ ਆਪੁ ਕੁਸ ਲੀਆ ॥

Kusha himself ruled over the north, the son of Bharat was given the kingship of the south and the son of Shatrughan the kingship of the west.857.

surag baas raghubar karaa sagaree puree samet |858|
The story of Ram remain immortal throughout the ages and in this way Ram went to abide in heaven alongwith (all the resident of) the city.858.

He, who will listen to this story and sing it, he will be free from the sufferings and sins. The reward of the devotion to Vishnu (and his incarnation Ram) that no ailment of any kind will touch him.859.

The story of Raghuvir Ram was complete by the Grace of God on the bank of Sutlej in the valley of the mountain.861.
ਸਾਧ ਅਸਾਧ ਜਾਨੋ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਦ ਸੁਬਾਦ ਬਿਬਾਦਿ ॥

The saint be not considered as unsaintly ever and the debate as controversial ever
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਕਲ ਪੂਰਣ ਕੀਯੋ ਭਗਵਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥੮੬੨॥

This whole Granth (book) has been completed by the Grace of God.862.
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
gun gaavat teree utaras mail |
Chanting His Glories, your filth shall be washed off.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਫੈਲੁ ॥
binas jaae haumai bikh fail |
The all-consuming poison of ego will be gone.
ਹੋਹਿ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਬਸੈ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
hohi achint basai sukh naal |
You shall become carefree, and you shall dwell in peace.
ਸਾਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
saas graas har naam samaal |
With every breath and every morsel of food, cherish the Lord's Name.
ਛਾਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਮਨਾ ॥
chhaadd siaanap sagalee manaa |
Renounce all clever tricks, O mind.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਨਾ ॥
saadhasang paaveh sach dhanaa |
In the Company of the Holy, you shall obtain the true wealth.
ਹਰਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸੰਚਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
har poonjee sanch karahu biauhaar |
So gather the Lord's Name as your capital, and trade in it.
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
eehaa sukh daragah jaikaar |
In this world you shall be at peace, and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be acclaimed.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਦੇਖੁ ॥
sarab nirantar eko dekh |
See the One permeating all;
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੭॥
kahu naanak jaa kai masatak lekh |7|
says Nanak, your destiny is pre-ordained. ||7||
ਏਕੋ ਜਪਿ ਏਕੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ॥
eko jap eko saalaeh |
Meditate on the One, and worship the One.
ਏਕੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਮਨ ਆਹਿ ॥
ek simar eko man aaeh |
Remember the One, and yearn for the One in your mind.
ਏਕਸ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
ekas ke gun gaau anant |
Sing the endless Glorious Praises of the One.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਏਕ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
man tan jaap ek bhagavant |
With mind and body, meditate on the One Lord God.
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
eko ek ek har aap |
The One Lord Himself is the One and Only.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥
pooran poor rahio prabh biaap |
The Pervading Lord God is totally permeating all.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ਏਕ ਤੇ ਭਏ ॥
anik bisathaar ek te bhe |
The many expanses of the creation have all come from the One.
ਏਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਗਏ ॥
ek araadh paraachhat ge |
Adoring the One, past sins are removed.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
man tan antar ek prabh raataa |
Mind and body within are imbued with the One God.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੮॥੧੯॥
gur prasaad naanak ik jaataa |8|19|
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, the One is known. ||8||19||

After wandering and wandering, O God, I have come, and entered Your Sanctuary.

This is Nanak's prayer, O God: please, attach me to Your devotional service. ||1||

I ask for the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥
paarabraham meree saradhaa poor |
O Supreme Lord God, please fulfill my yearning;
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
sadaa sadaa prabh ke gun gaavau |
may I sing the Glorious Praises of God forever and ever.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
saas saas prabh tumeh dhiaavau |
With each and every breath, may I meditate on You, O God.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal siau laagai preet |
May I enshrine affection for Your Lotus Feet.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥
bhagat krau prabh kee nit neet |
May I perform devotional worship to God each and every day.
ਏਕ ਓਟ ਏਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
ek ott eko aadhaar |
You are my only Shelter, my only Support.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naanak maagai naam prabh saar |1|
Nanak asks for the most sublime, the Naam, the Name of God. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
prabh kee drisatt mahaa sukh hoe |
By God's Gracious Glance, there is great peace.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
har ras paavai biralaa koe |
Rare are those who obtain the juice of the Lord's essence.
ਜਿਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥
jin chaakhiaa se jan tripataane |
Those who taste it are satisfied.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਹੀ ਡੋਲਾਨੇ ॥
pooran purakh nahee ddolaane |
They are fulfilled and realized beings - they do not waver.
ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
subhar bhare prem ras rang |
They are totally filled to over-flowing with the sweet delight of His Love.
ਉਪਜੈ ਚਾਉ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
aupajai chaau saadh kai sang |
Spiritual delight wells up within, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਪਰੇ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਨ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥
pare saran aan sabh tiaag |
Taking to His Sanctuary, they forsake all others.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
antar pragaas anadin liv laag |
Deep within, they are enlightened, and they center themselves on Him, day and night.
ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਪਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
baddabhaagee japiaa prabh soe |
Most fortunate are those who meditate on God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak naam rate sukh hoe |2|
O Nanak, attuned to the Naam, they are at peace. ||2||
ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਭਈ ॥
sevak kee manasaa pooree bhee |
The wishes of the Lord's servant are fulfilled.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਲਈ ॥
satigur te niramal mat lee |
From the True Guru, the pure teachings are obtained.
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥
jan kau prabh hoeo deaal |
Unto His humble servant, God has shown His kindness.
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
sevak keeno sadaa nihaal |
He has made His servant eternally happy.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
bandhan kaatt mukat jan bheaa |
The bonds of His humble servant are cut away, and he is liberated.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
janam maran dookh bhram geaa |
The pains of birth and death, and doubt are gone.
ਇਛ ਪੁਨੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਸਭ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
eichh punee saradhaa sabh pooree |
Desires are satisfied, and faith is fully rewarded,
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਜੂਰੀ ॥
rav rahiaa sad sang hajooree |
imbued forever with His all-pervading peace.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
jis kaa saa tin leea milaae |
He is His - he merges in Union with Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
naanak bhagatee naam samaae |3|
Nanak is absorbed in devotional worship of the Naam. ||3||
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਘਾਲ ਨ ਭਾਨੈ ॥
so kiau bisarai ji ghaal na bhaanai |
Why forget Him, who does not overlook our efforts?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
so kiau bisarai ji keea jaanai |
Why forget Him, who acknowledges what we do?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
so kiau bisarai jin sabh kichh deea |
Why forget Him, who has given us everything?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਆ ॥
so kiau bisarai ji jeevan jeea |
Why forget Him, who is the Life of the living beings?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
so kiau bisarai ji agan meh raakhai |
Why forget Him, who preserves us in the fire of the womb?
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
gur prasaad ko biralaa laakhai |
By Guru's Grace, rare is the one who realizes this.
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
so kiau bisarai ji bikh te kaadtai |
Why forget Him, who lifts us up out of corruption?
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਟੂਟਾ ਗਾਢੈ ॥
janam janam kaa ttoottaa gaadtai |
Those separated from Him for countless lifetimes, are re-united with Him once again.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਤੁ ਇਹੈ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
gur poorai tat ihai bujhaaeaa |
Through the Perfect Guru, this essential reality is understood.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥
prabh apanaa naanak jan dhiaaeaa |4|
O Nanak, God's humble servants meditate on Him. ||4||
