ਚਿਤੰ ਚਿਤ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

ਪੁਨਰ ਦੋਸ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੬੪੧॥

“O queen! I have not committed a mistake in killing your husband, think rightly in your mind about it and the blame me.641.

ਮਿਲੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਸੀਤਾ ॥

milai mohi seetaa |

ਚਲੈ ਧਰਮ ਗੀਤਾ ॥

chalai dharam geetaa |

“I should get my Sita back, so that the work of righteousness may move forward

ਪਠਯੋ ਪਉਨ ਪੂਤੰ ॥

patthayo paun pootan |

ਹੁਤੋ ਅਗ੍ਰ ਦੂਤੰ ॥੬੪੨॥

huto agr dootan |642|

” (Saying in this way) Ram sent Hanuman, she son of wind-god, like an envoy (in advance).642.

ਚਲਯੋ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥

chalayo dhaae kai kai |

ਸੀਆ ਸੋਧ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥

seea sodh lai kai |

ਹੁਤੀ ਬਾਗ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

hutee baag maahee |

ਤਰੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਛਾਹੀ ॥੬੪੩॥

tare brichh chhaahee |643|

Searching for Sita, he reached there, where she was sitting in the garden under a tree.643.

ਪਰਯੋ ਜਾਇ ਪਾਯੰ ॥

parayo jaae paayan |

ਸੁਨੋ ਸੀਅ ਮਾਯੰ ॥

suno seea maayan |

ਰਿਪੰ ਰਾਮ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

ripan raam maare |

ਖਰੇ ਤੋਹਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੬੪੪॥

khare tohi duaare |644|

Hanuman, falling at the feet of Sita, said, “O mother Sita! Ram has killed the enemy (Ravana) and now he is standing at your door.644.

ਚਲੋ ਬੇਗ ਸੀਤਾ ॥

chalo beg seetaa |

ਜਹਾ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਤਾ ॥

jahaa raam jeetaa |

ਸਭੈ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

sabhai satru maare |

ਭੂਅੰ ਭਾਰ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥੬੪੫॥

bhooan bhaar utaare |645|

“O mother Sita! go to the place of Ram quickly, where he has won and lightened the burden of the earth by killing all the enemie.”645.

ਚਲੀ ਮੋਦ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥

chalee mod kai kai |

ਹਨੂ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥

hanoo sang lai kai |

ਸੀਆ ਰਾਮ ਦੇਖੇ ॥

seea raam dekhe |

ਉਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਲੇਖੇ ॥੬੪੬॥

auhee roop lekhe |646|

Being highly pleased Sita accompanied Hanuman, she saw Ram and found Ram retaining his precious beauty.646.

ਲਗੀ ਆਨ ਪਾਯੰ ॥

lagee aan paayan |

ਲਖੀ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਯੰ ॥

lakhee raam raayan |

ਕਹਯੋ ਕਉਲ ਨੈਨੀ ॥

kahayo kaul nainee |

ਬਿਧੁੰ ਬਾਕ ਬੈਨੀ ॥੬੪੭॥

bidhun baak bainee |647|

Sita fell at the feet of Ram who saw towards her and addressed to that lady of lotus eyes and sweet speech 647

ਧਸੋ ਅਗ ਮਧੰ ॥

dhaso ag madhan |

ਤਬੈ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਧੰ ॥

tabai hoe sudhan |

ਲਈ ਮਾਨ ਸੀਸੰ ॥

lee maan seesan |

ਰਚਯੋ ਪਾਵਕੀਸੰ ॥੬੪੮॥

rachayo paavakeesan |648|

“O Sita! enter the fire, so that you may become pure.” She agreed and prepared a pyre of fire.648.

ਗਈ ਪੈਠ ਐਸੇ ॥

gee paitth aise |

ਘਨੰ ਬਿਜ ਜੈਸੇ ॥

ghanan bij jaise |

She merged in the fire like the lightning seen in the clouds

ਸ੍ਰੁਤੰ ਜੇਮ ਗੀਤਾ ॥

srutan jem geetaa |

ਮਿਲੀ ਤੇਮ ਸੀਤਾ ॥੬੪੯॥

milee tem seetaa |649|

She became one with fire like Gita with Shrutis (recorded texts).649.

ਧਸੀ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥

dhasee jaae kai kai |

ਕਢੀ ਕੁੰਦਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥

kadtee kundan hvai kai |

She entered the fire and came out like pure gold

ਗਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਲਾਈ ॥

garai raam laaee |

ਕਬੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਗਾਈ ॥੬੫੦॥

kaban krit gaaee |650|

Ram hold her to his bosom and the poets sang in praise about this fact.650.

ਸਭੋ ਸਾਧ ਮਾਨੀ ॥

sabho saadh maanee |

ਤਿਹੂ ਲੋਗ ਜਾਨੀ ॥

tihoo log jaanee |

All the saints accepted this type of fire-test and the beings of the three worlds accepted this fact

ਬਜੇ ਜੀਤ ਬਾਜੇ ॥

baje jeet baaje |

ਤਬੈ ਰਾਮ ਗਾਜੇ ॥੬੫੧॥

tabai raam gaaje |651|

The musical instruments of victory were played and Ram also thundered in great joy.651.

ਲਈ ਜੀਤ ਸੀਤਾ ॥

lee jeet seetaa |

ਮਹਾ ਸੁਭ੍ਰ ਗੀਤਾ ॥

mahaa subhr geetaa |

The pure SIta was conquered like a superbly auspicious song

ਸਭੈ ਦੇਵ ਹਰਖੇ ॥

sabhai dev harakhe |

ਨਭੰ ਪੁਹਪ ਬਰਖੇ ॥੬੫੨॥

nabhan puhap barakhe |652|

All the gods began to shower flowers from the sky.652.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਰਾਮਵਤਾਰ ਬਭੀਛਨ ਕੋ ਲੰਕਾ ਕੋ ਰਾਜ ਦੀਬੋ ਮਦੋਦਰੀ ਸਮੋਧ ਕੀਬੋ ਸੀਤਾ ਮਿਲਬੋ ਧਯਾਇ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥੧੮॥

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਧਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਬਸਹਿ ॥

jih prasaad dhar aoopar sukh baseh |

By His Grace, you abide in comfort upon the earth.

ਸੁਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਮੀਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਸਹਿ ॥

sut bhraat meet banitaa sang haseh |

With your children, siblings, friends and spouse, you laugh.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਜਲਾ ॥

jih prasaad peeveh seetal jalaa |

By His Grace, you drink in cool water.

ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਪਵਨੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਅਮੁਲਾ ॥

sukhadaaee pavan paavak amulaa |

You have peaceful breezes and priceless fire.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਰਸਾ ॥

jih prasaad bhogeh sabh rasaa |

By His Grace, you enjoy all sorts of pleasures.

ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਥਿ ਬਸਾ ॥

sagal samagree sang saath basaa |

You are provided with all the necessities of life.

ਦੀਨੇ ਹਸਤ ਪਾਵ ਕਰਨ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਰਸਨਾ ॥

deene hasat paav karan netr rasanaa |

He gave you hands, feet, ears, eyes and tongue,

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਅਵਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚਨਾ ॥

tiseh tiaag avar sang rachanaa |

and yet, you forsake Him and attach yourself to others.

ਐਸੇ ਦੋਖ ਮੂੜ ਅੰਧ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥

aise dokh moorr andh biaape |

Such sinful mistakes cling to the blind fools;

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪੇ ॥੨॥

naanak kaadt lehu prabh aape |2|

Nanak: uplift and save them, God! ||2||

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਜੋ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥

aad ant jo raakhanahaar |

From beginning to end, He is our Protector,

ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਗਵਾਰੁ ॥

tis siau preet na karai gavaar |

and yet, the ignorant do not give their love to Him.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

jaa kee sevaa nav nidh paavai |

Serving Him, the nine treasures are obtained,

ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਮੂੜਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

taa siau moorraa man nahee laavai |

and yet, the foolish do not link their minds with Him.

ਜੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥

jo tthaakur sad sadaa hajoore |

Our Lord and Master is Ever-present, forever and ever,

ਤਾ ਕਉ ਅੰਧਾ ਜਾਨਤ ਦੂਰੇ ॥

taa kau andhaa jaanat doore |

and yet, the spiritually blind believe that He is far away.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਪਾਵੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

jaa kee ttehal paavai daragah maan |

In His service, one obtains honor in the Court of the Lord,

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੈ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਅਜਾਨੁ ॥

tiseh bisaarai mugadh ajaan |

and yet, the ignorant fool forgets Him.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਇਹੁ ਭੂਲਨਹਾਰੁ ॥

sadaa sadaa ihu bhoolanahaar |

Forever and ever, this person makes mistakes;

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

naanak raakhanahaar apaar |3|

O Nanak, the Infinite Lord is our Saving Grace. ||3||

ਰਤਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਉਡੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚੈ ॥

ratan tiaag kauddee sang rachai |

Forsaking the jewel, they are engrossed with a shell.

ਸਾਚੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਝੂਠ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਚੈ ॥

saach chhodd jhootth sang machai |

They renounce Truth and embrace falsehood.

ਜੋ ਛਡਨਾ ਸੁ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ॥

jo chhaddanaa su asathir kar maanai |

That which passes away, they believe to be permanent.

ਜੋ ਹੋਵਨੁ ਸੋ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਨੈ ॥

jo hovan so door paraanai |

That which is immanent, they believe to be far off.

ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰੈ ॥

chhodd jaae tis kaa sram karai |

They struggle for what they must eventually leave.

ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥

sang sahaaee tis paraharai |

They turn away from the Lord, their Help and Support, who is always with them.

ਚੰਦਨ ਲੇਪੁ ਉਤਾਰੈ ਧੋਇ ॥

chandan lep utaarai dhoe |

They wash off the sandalwood paste;

ਗਰਧਬ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਸਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

garadhab preet bhasam sang hoe |

like donkeys, they are in love with the mud.

ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥

andh koop meh patit bikaraal |

They have fallen into the deep, dark pit.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੪॥

naanak kaadt lehu prabh deaal |4|

Nanak: lift them up and save them, O Merciful Lord God! ||4||

ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਪਸੂ ਕੀ ਮਾਨਸ ਜਾਤਿ ॥

karatoot pasoo kee maanas jaat |

They belong to the human species, but they act like animals.

ਲੋਕ ਪਚਾਰਾ ਕਰੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥

lok pachaaraa karai din raat |

They curse others day and night.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥

baahar bhekh antar mal maaeaa |

Outwardly, they wear religious robes, but within is the filth of Maya.

ਛਪਸਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਕਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਛਪਾਇਆ ॥

chhapas naeh kachh karai chhapaaeaa |

They cannot conceal this, no matter how hard they try.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥

baahar giaan dhiaan isanaan |

Outwardly, they display knowledge, meditation and purification,

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ॥

antar biaapai lobh suaan |

but within clings the dog of greed.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਤਨੁ ਸੁਆਹ ॥

antar agan baahar tan suaah |

The fire of desire rages within; outwardly they apply ashes to their bodies.

ਗਲਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੈਸੇ ਤਰੈ ਅਥਾਹ ॥

gal paathar kaise tarai athaah |

There is a stone around their neck - how can they cross the unfathomable ocean?

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥

jaa kai antar basai prabh aap |

Those, within whom God Himself abides

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਤਿ ॥੫॥

naanak te jan sehaj samaat |5|

- O Nanak, those humble beings are intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||5||

ਸੁਨਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

sun andhaa kaise maarag paavai |

By listening, how can the blind find the path?

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਓੜਿ ਨਿਬਹਾਵੈ ॥

kar geh lehu orr nibahaavai |

Take hold of his hand, and then he can reach his destination.

ਕਹਾ ਬੁਝਾਰਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਡੋਰਾ ॥

kahaa bujhaarat boojhai ddoraa |

How can a riddle be understood by the deaf?

ਨਿਸਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਤਉ ਸਮਝੈ ਭੋਰਾ ॥

nis kaheeai tau samajhai bhoraa |

Say 'night', and he thinks you said 'day'.

ਕਹਾ ਬਿਸਨਪਦ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁੰਗ ॥

kahaa bisanapad gaavai gung |

How can the mute sing the Songs of the Lord?

ਜਤਨ ਕਰੈ ਤਉ ਭੀ ਸੁਰ ਭੰਗ ॥

jatan karai tau bhee sur bhang |

He may try, but his voice will fail him.

ਕਹ ਪਿੰਗੁਲ ਪਰਬਤ ਪਰ ਭਵਨ ॥

keh pingul parabat par bhavan |

How can the cripple climb up the mountain?

ਨਹੀ ਹੋਤ ਊਹਾ ਉਸੁ ਗਵਨ ॥

nahee hot aoohaa us gavan |

He simply cannot go there.

ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਦੀਨੁ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰੈ ॥

karataar karunaa mai deen benatee karai |

O Creator, Lord of Mercy - Your humble servant prays;

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤਰੈ ॥੬॥

naanak tumaree kirapaa tarai |6|

Nanak: by Your Grace, please save me. ||6||

ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੁ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਚੀਤਿ ॥

sang sahaaee su aavai na cheet |

The Lord, our Help and Support, is always with us, but the mortal does not remember Him.

ਜੋ ਬੈਰਾਈ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥

jo bairaaee taa siau preet |

He shows love to his enemies.

ਬਲੂਆ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਬਸੈ ॥

balooaa ke grih bheetar basai |

He lives in a castle of sand.

ਅਨਦ ਕੇਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਸੈ ॥

anad kel maaeaa rang rasai |

He enjoys the games of pleasure and the tastes of Maya.

ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ਮਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤਿ ॥

drirr kar maanai maneh prateet |

He believes them to be permanent - this is the belief of his mind.

ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੂੜੇ ਚੀਤਿ ॥

kaal na aavai moorre cheet |

Death does not even come to mind for the fool.

ਬੈਰ ਬਿਰੋਧ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮੋਹ ॥

bair birodh kaam krodh moh |

Hate, conflict, sexual desire, anger, emotional attachment,

ਝੂਠ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮਹਾ ਲੋਭ ਧ੍ਰੋਹ ॥

jhootth bikaar mahaa lobh dhroh |

falsehood, corruption, immense greed and deceit:

ਇਆਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਬਿਹਾਨੇ ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ॥

eaahoo jugat bihaane kee janam |

So many lifetimes are wasted in these ways.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਮ ॥੭॥

naanak raakh lehu aapan kar karam |7|

Nanak: uplift them, and redeem them, O Lord - show Your Mercy! ||7||
