ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
mere man gur gur gur sad kareeai |
O my mind, dwell always upon the Guru, Guru, Guru.
ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ratan janam safal gur keea darasan kau balihareeai |1| rahaau |
The Guru has made the jewel of this human life prosperous and fruitful. I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇਤੇ ਸਾਸ ਗ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਨੁ ਲੇਤਾ ਤੇਤੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
jete saas graas man letaa tete hee gun gaaeeai |
As many breaths and morsels as you take, O my mind - so many times, sing His Glorious Praises.
ਜਉ ਹੋਇ ਦੈਆਲੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਤਾ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
jau hoe daiaal satigur apunaa taa ih mat budh paaeeai |1|
When the True Guru becomes merciful, then this wisdom and understanding is obtained. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਏ ਜਮ ਬੰਧ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
mere man naam le jam bandh te chhootteh sarab sukhaa sukh paaeeai |
O my mind, taking the Naam, you shall be released from the bondage of death, and the peace of all peace will be found.
ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਨ ਬੰਛਤ ਫਲ ਆਈਐ ॥੨॥
sev suaamee satigur daataa man banchhat fal aaeeai |2|
Serving your Lord and Master, the True Guru, the Great Giver, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਇਸਟੁ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਤ ਕਰਤਾ ਮਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
naam isatt meet sut karataa man sang tuhaarai chaalai |
The Name of the Creator is your beloved friend and child; it alone shall go along with you, O my mind.
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਾਲੈ ॥੩॥
kar sevaa satigur apune kee gur te paaeeai paalai |3|
So serve your True Guru, and you shall receive the Name from the Guru. ||3||
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਰਬ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥
gur kirapaal kripaa prabh dhaaree binase sarab andesaa |
When God, the Merciful Guru, showered His Mercy upon me, all my anxieties were dispelled.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸਾ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੧੫੩॥
naanak sukh paaeaa har keeratan mittio sagal kalesaa |4|15|153|
Nanak has found the peace of the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. All his sorrows have been dispelled. ||4||15||153||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਬੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
trisanaa birale hee kee bujhee he |1| rahaau |
The thirst of only a few is quenched. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਟਿ ਜੋਰੇ ਲਾਖ ਕ੍ਰੋਰੇ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਰੇ ॥ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਲੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
kott jore laakh krore man na hore | parai parai hee kau lujhee he |1|
People may accumulate hundreds of thousands, millions, tens of millions, and yet the mind is not restrained. They only yearn for more and more. ||1||
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਰਕਾਰੀ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਿਕਾਰੀ ॥ ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
sundar naaree anik parakaaree par grih bikaaree | buraa bhalaa nahee sujhee he |2|
They may have all sorts of beautiful women, but still, they commit adultery in the homes of others. They do not distinguish between good and bad. ||2||
ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮਤੁ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ ਮਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਲੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
anik bandhan maaeaa bharamat bharamaaeaa gun nidh nahee gaaeaa | man bikhai hee meh lujhee he |3|
They wander around lost, trapped in the myriad bonds of Maya; they do not sing the Praises of the Treasure of Virtue. Their minds are engrossed in poison and corruption. ||3||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਵਤ ਸੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਰੈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫੪॥
jaa kau re kirapaa karai jeevat soee marai saadhasang maaeaa tarai | naanak so jan dar har sijhee he |4|1|154|
Those, unto whom the Lord shows His Mercy, remain dead while yet alive. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, they cross over the ocean of Maya. O Nanak, those humble beings are honored in the Court of the Lord. ||4||1||154||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਭਹੂ ਕੋ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabhahoo ko ras har ho |1| rahaau |
The Lord is the essence of all. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਹੂ ਜੋਗ ਕਾਹੂ ਭੋਗ ਕਾਹੂ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਹੋ ਡੰਡ ਧਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੧॥
kaahoo jog kaahoo bhog kaahoo giaan kaahoo dhiaan | kaahoo ho ddandd dhar ho |1|
Some practice Yoga, some indulge in pleasures; some live in spiritual wisdom, some live in meditation. Some are bearers of the staff. ||1||
ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਪ ਕਾਹੂ ਤਾਪ ਕਾਹੂ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਮ ਨੇਮ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਹੋ ਗਉਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੨॥
kaahoo jaap kaahoo taap kaahoo poojaa hom nem | kaahoo ho gaun kar ho |2|
Some chant in meditation, some practice deep, austere meditation; some worship Him in adoration, some practice daily rituals. Some live the life of a wanderer. ||2||
ਕਾਹੂ ਤੀਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਨੀਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਹੋ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੫੫॥
kaahoo teer kaahoo neer kaahoo bed beechaar | naanakaa bhagat pria ho |3|2|155|
Some live by the shore, some live on the water; some study the Vedas. Nanak loves to worship the Lord. ||3||2||155||

ਗੁਨ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੋਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

To sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises is my treasure. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰਹੀ ਰਸ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਜਸ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਤੂਹੀ ਰੰਗ ॥ ਆਸ ਓਟ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੧॥
toonhee ras toonhee jas toonhee roop toohee rang | aas ott prabh toree |1|
You are my delight, You are my praise. You are my beauty, You are my love. O God, You are my hope and support. ||1||
ਤੂਹੀ ਮਾਨ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਧਾਨ ਤੂਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਤੂਟੀ ਲੈ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੨॥
toohee maan toonhee dhaan toohee pat toohee praan | gur toottee lai joree |2|
You are my pride, You are my wealth. You are my honor, You are my breath of life. The Guru has repaired that which was broken. ||2||
ਤੂਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਬਨਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਗਾਉ ਤੂਹੀ ਸੁਨਿ ॥ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇਰ ਨੇਰੀ ॥੩॥੩॥੧੫੬॥
toohee grihi toohee ban toohee gaau toohee sun | hai naanak ner neree |3|3|156|
You are in the household, and You are in the forest. You are in the village, and You are in the wilderness. Nanak: You are near, so very near! ||3||3||156||
