ਤਰ ਭਰ ਰਾਮੰ ॥

Parashuram, who had abandoned his desires created a sensation in all the four directions,
ਧਰ ਬਰ ਧੀਰੰ ॥

ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੧੨੮॥

And began to discharge arrows like the brave fighers.128.
ਦਰ ਬਰ ਗਯਾਨੰ ॥

ਪਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਯਾਨੰ ॥
par har dhayaanan |
Observing his fury, the men of wisdom, meditated on the Lord,
ਥਰਹਰ ਕੰਪੈ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੰਪੈ ॥੧੨੯॥
har har janpai |129|
And began to repeat the name of Lord, trembling with fear.129.
ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ ਗਲਿਤੰ ॥

ਬੋਧੰ ਦਲਿਤੰ ॥
bodhan dalitan |
Agonised by extreme rage, the intellect was destroyed.
ਕਰ ਸਰ ਸਰਤਾ ॥

A stream of arrows flowed from his hands and with them the life-breath of opponents was removed.130.

Holding their arrows in their hand s and filled with pride,
ਅਰ ਉਰ ਸਾਲੀ ॥

The warriors are imposing them in the hearts of the enemies like the hoeing of the earth by the gardener.131.

All tremble on account of the fury by the warriors and because of their activities in respect of warfare.

The masters of the horses were being destroyed.132.
ਛਰ ਹਰ ਅੰਗੰ ॥

ਚਰ ਖਰ ਸੰਗੰ ॥
char khar sangan |
Every limb of the warriors was pierced by arrows,
ਜਰ ਬਰ ਜਾਮੰ ॥
jar bar jaaman |
ਝਰ ਹਰ ਰਾਮੰ ॥੧੩੩॥
jhar har raaman |133|
And Parashuram began to shower a volley of his arms.133.
ਟਰ ਧਰਿ ਜਾਯੰ ॥

ਠਰ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਯੰ ॥
tthar har paayan |
He who advances to that side goes straight to the feet of the Lord (i.e. he is killed).

ਥਰਹਰ ਕਾਲੰ ॥੧੩੪॥

Hearing the knocks on the shields, the god of death came down.134.
ਅਰ ਬਰ ਦਰਣੰ ॥

The superb enemies were killed and the eminent men were destroyed.

On the bodies of the enduring warriors, the arrows waved.135.

The eminent persons were destroyed and the remaining sped away.

Had power of to destroy all in the war, his arms were long.137.

The brave fighters struck blows and the rosary of skulls on the neck of Shiva looked impressive.

Ram stood firmly and within the whole place, there was turmoil.138.

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਤਾਹੂ ਕਉ ਪੀਰ ॥
jaa kau bisarai raam naam taahoo kau peer |
One who forgets the Lord's Name, suffers in pain.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhasangat mil har raveh se gunee gaheer |1| rahaau |
Those who join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and dwell upon the Lord, find the Ocean of virtue. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੁਧਿ ॥
jaa kau guramukh ridai budh |
Those Gurmukhs whose hearts are filled with wisdom,
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕਰ ਤਲ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ॥੧॥
taa kai kar tal nav nidh sidh |1|
hold the nine treasures, and the miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas in the palms of their hands. ||1||
ਜੋ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ॥
jo jaaneh har prabh dhanee |
Those who know the Lord God as their Master,
ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕਮੀ ॥੨॥
kichh naahee taa kai kamee |2|
do not lack anything. ||2||
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥
karanaihaar pachhaaniaa |
Those who realize the Creator Lord,
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
sarab sookh rang maaniaa |3|
enjoy all peace and pleasure. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
har dhan jaa kai grihi vasai |
Those whose inner homes are filled with the Lord's wealth
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਸੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੪੭॥
kahu naanak tin sang dukh nasai |4|9|147|
- says Nanak, in their company, pain departs. ||4||9||147||

ਗਰਬੁ ਬਡੋ ਮੂਲੁ ਇਤਨੋ ॥
garab baddo mool itano |
Your pride is so great, but what about your origins?
ਰਹਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਗਹੁ ਕਿਤਨੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rehan nahee gahu kitano |1| rahaau |
You cannot remain, no matter how much you try to hold on. ||1||Pause||
ਬੇਬਰਜਤ ਬੇਦ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਉਆਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਰੇ ਹਿਤਨੋ ॥
bebarajat bed santanaa uaahoo siau re hitano |
That which is forbidden by the Vedas and the Saints - with that, you are in love.
ਹਾਰ ਜੂਆਰ ਜੂਆ ਬਿਧੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਵਸਿ ਲੈ ਜਿਤਨੋ ॥੧॥
haar jooaar jooaa bidhe indree vas lai jitano |1|
Like the gambler losing the game of chance, you are held in the power of sensory desires. ||1||
ਹਰਨ ਭਰਨ ਸੰਪੂਰਨਾ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਿਤਨੋ ॥
haran bharan sanpooranaa charan kamal rang ritano |
The One who is All-powerful to empty out and fill up - you have no love for His Lotus Feet.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੈ ਦਿਤਨੋ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੪੮॥
naanak udhare saadhasang kirapaa nidh mai ditano |2|10|148|
O Nanak, I have been saved, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. I have been blessed by the Treasure of Mercy. ||2||10||148||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੋਹਿ ਦਾਸਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੋ ॥
mohi daasaro tthaakur ko |
I am the slave of my Lord and Master.
ਧਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਖਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhaan prabh kaa khaanaa |1| rahaau |
I eat whatever God gives me. ||1||Pause||
ਐਸੋ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
aiso hai re khasam hamaaraa |
Such is my Lord and Master.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
khin meh saaj savaaranahaaraa |1|
In an instant, He creates and embellishes. ||1||
ਕਾਮੁ ਕਰੀ ਜੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਵਾ ॥
kaam karee je tthaakur bhaavaa |
I do that work which pleases my Lord and Master.
ਗੀਤ ਚਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੨॥
geet charit prabh ke gun gaavaa |2|
I sing the songs of God's glory, and His wondrous play. ||2||
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਵਜੀਰਾ ॥
saran pario tthaakur vajeeraa |
I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord's Prime Minister;
ਤਿਨਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੩॥
tinaa dekh meraa man dheeraa |3|
beholding Him, my mind is comforted and consoled. ||3||
ਏਕ ਟੇਕ ਏਕੋ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥
ek ttek eko aadhaaraa |
The One Lord is my support, the One is my steady anchor.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਕਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੪੯॥
jan naanak har kee laagaa kaaraa |4|11|149|
Servant Nanak is engaged in the Lord's work. ||4||11||149||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੋਰੈ ॥
hai koee aisaa haumai torai |
Is there anyone, who can shatter his ego,
ਇਸੁ ਮੀਠੀ ਤੇ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
eis meetthee te ihu man horai |1| rahaau |
and turn his mind away from this sweet Maya? ||1||Pause||
ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਾਨੁਖੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੋ ਲੋਰੈ ॥
agiaanee maanukh bheaa jo naahee so lorai |
Humanity is in spiritual ignorance; people see things that do not exist.
ਰੈਣਿ ਅੰਧਾਰੀ ਕਾਰੀਆ ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਭੋਰੈ ॥੧॥
rain andhaaree kaareea kavan jugat jit bhorai |1|
The night is dark and gloomy; how will the morning dawn? ||1||
ਭ੍ਰਮਤੋ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੋ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਧੀ ਕਰਿ ਟੋਰੈ ॥
bhramato bhramato haariaa anik bidhee kar ttorai |
Wandering, wandering all around, I have grown weary; trying all sorts of things, I have been searching.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੋਰੈ ॥੨॥੧੨॥੧੫੦॥
kahu naanak kirapaa bhee saadhasangat nidh morai |2|12|150|
Says Nanak, He has shown mercy to me; I have found the treasure of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||12||150||

ਚਿੰਤਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

He is the Wish-fulfilling Jewel, the Embodiment of Mercy. ||1||Pause||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਸੁਖ ਭਏ ॥੧॥
deen deaalaa paarabraham | jaa kai simaran sukh bhe |1|
The Supreme Lord God is Merciful to the meek; Meditating in remembrance on Him, peace is obtained. ||1||
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧ ॥ ਸੁਨਤ ਜਸੋ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘ ਖਏ ॥੨॥
akaal purakh agaadh bodh | sunat jaso kott agh khe |2|
The Wisdom of the Undying Primal Being is beyond comprehension. Hearing His Praises, millions of sins are erased. ||2||
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਲਏ ॥੩॥੧੩॥੧੫੧॥
kirapaa nidh prabh meaa dhaar | naanak har har naam le |3|13|151|
O God, Treasure of Mercy, please bless Nanak with Your kindness, that he may repeat the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||13||151||

Gauree Poorbee, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ॥
mere man saran prabhoo sukh paae |
O my mind, in the Sanctuary of God, peace is found.
ਜਾ ਦਿਨਿ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਤ ਅਜਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa din bisarai praan sukhadaataa so din jaat ajaae |1| rahaau |
That day, when the Giver of life and peace is forgotten - that day passes uselessly. ||1||Pause||
ਏਕ ਰੈਣ ਕੇ ਪਾਹੁਨ ਤੁਮ ਆਏ ਬਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਆਸ ਬਧਾਏ ॥
ek rain ke paahun tum aae bahu jug aas badhaae |
You have come as a guest for one short night, and yet you hope to live for many ages.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੰਪੈ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਤਰਵਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਏ ॥੧॥
grih mandar sanpai jo deesai jiau taravar kee chhaae |1|
Households, mansions and wealth - whatever is seen, is like the shade of a tree. ||1||
ਤਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਪੈ ਸਭ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਾਗ ਮਿਲਖ ਸਭ ਜਾਏ ॥
tan meraa sanpai sabh meree baag milakh sabh jaae |
My body, wealth, and all my gardens and property shall all pass away.
ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰਾ ਬਿਸਰਿਓ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਤ ਪਰਾਏ ॥੨॥
devanahaaraa bisario tthaakur khin meh hot paraae |2|
You have forgotten your Lord and Master, the Great Giver. In an instant, these shall belong to somebody else. ||2||
ਪਹਿਰੈ ਬਾਗਾ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
pahirai baagaa kar isanaanaa choaa chandan laae |
You wear white clothes and take cleansing baths, and anoint yourself with sandalwood oil.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਨਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਹਸਤੀ ਨਾਵਾਏ ॥੩॥
nirbhau nirankaar nahee cheeniaa jiau hasatee naavaae |3|
But you do not remember the Fearless, Formless Lord - you are like an elephant bathing in the mud. ||3||
ਜਉ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਤ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਏ ॥
jau hoe kripaal ta satigur melai sabh sukh har ke naae |
When God becomes merciful, He leads you to meet the True Guru; all peace is in the Name of the Lord.
ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਇਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਲੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੧੫੨॥
mukat bheaa bandhan gur khole jan naanak har gun gaae |4|14|152|
The Guru has liberated me from bondage; servant Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||14||152||
