Prabhaatee, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਟੇ ॥
simarat naam kilabikh sabh kaatte |
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, all the sins are erased.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੇ ਕਾਗਰ ਫਾਟੇ ॥
dharam raae ke kaagar faatte |
The accounts held by the Righteous Judge of Dharma are torn up.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
saadhasangat mil har ras paaeaa |
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
paarabraham rid maeh samaaeaa |1|
I have found the Sublime Essence of the Lord. The Supreme Lord God has melted into my heart. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
raam ramat har har sukh paaeaa |
Dwelling on the Lord, Har, Har, I have found peace.
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tere daas charan saranaaeaa |1| rahaau |
Your slaves seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਚੂਕਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੁ ॥
chookaa gaun mittiaa andhiaar |
The cycle of reincarnation is ended, and darkness is dispelled.
ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
gur dikhalaaeaa mukat duaar |
The Guru has revealed the door of liberation.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਦ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
har prem bhagat man tan sad raataa |
My mind and body are forever imbued with loving devotion to the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਨਾਇਆ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੨॥
prabhoo janaaeaa tab hee jaataa |2|
Now I know God, because He has made me know Him. ||2||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar raviaa soe |
He is contained in each and every heart.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੀਜੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis bin beejo naahee koe |
Without Him, there is no one at all.
ਬੈਰ ਬਿਰੋਧ ਛੇਦੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾਂ ॥
bair birodh chhede bhai bharamaan |
Hatred, conflict, fear and doubt have been eliminated.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਆਤਮੈ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
prabh pun aatamai keene dharamaa |3|
God, the Soul of Pure Goodness, has manifested His Righteousness. ||3||
ਮਹਾ ਤਰੰਗ ਤੇ ਕਾਂਢੈ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
mahaa tarang te kaandtai laagaa |
He has rescued me from the most dangerous waves.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਟੂਟਾ ਗਾਂਢਾ ॥
janam janam kaa ttoottaa gaandtaa |
Separated from Him for countless lifetimes, I am united with Him once again.
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਿਆ ॥
jap tap sanjam naam samaaliaa |
Chanting, intense meditation and strict self-discipline are the contemplation of the Naam.
ਅਪੁਨੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੪॥
apunai tthaakur nadar nihaaliaa |4|
My Lord and Master has blessed me with His Glance of Grace. ||4||
ਮੰਗਲ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਤਿਥਾਈਂ ॥
mangal sookh kaliaan tithaaeen |
Bliss, peace and salvation are found in that place,
ਜਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
jeh sevak gopaal gusaaee |
where the servants of the Lord of the World abide.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
prabh suprasan bhe gopaal |
God, the Lord of the World, is pleased and satisfied with me.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਬਿਤਾਲ ॥੫॥
janam janam ke mitte bitaal |5|
My disharmony with Him of so many lifetimes is ended. ||5||
ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਉਰਧ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
hom jag uradh tap poojaa |
Burnt offerings, sacred feasts, intense meditations with the body upside-down, worship services
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੀਜਾ ॥
kott teerath isanaan kareejaa |
and taking millions of cleansing baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਿਮਖ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
charan kamal nimakh ridai dhaare |
- the merits of all these are obtained by enshrining the Lord's Lotus Feet within the heart, even for an instant.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੬॥
gobind japat sabh kaaraj saare |6|
Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, all one's affairs are resolved. ||6||
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
aooche te aoochaa prabh thaan |
God's Place is the highest of the high.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
har jan laaveh sehaj dhiaan |
The Lord's humble servants intuitively focus their meditation on Him.
ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਂਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
daas daasan kee baanchhau dhoor |
I long for the dust of the slaves of the Lord's slaves.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੭॥
sarab kalaa preetam bharapoor |7|
My Beloved Lord is overflowing with all powers. ||7||
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
maat pitaa har preetam neraa |
My Beloved Lord, my Mother and Father, is always near.
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
meet saajan bharavaasaa teraa |
O my Friend and Companion, You are my Trusted Support.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
kar geh leene apune daas |
God takes His slaves by the hand, and makes them His Own.
ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੮॥੩॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥
jap jeevai naanak gunataas |8|3|2|7|12|
Nanak lives by meditating on the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue. ||8||3||2||7||12||

singh medanee sut kaa naamaa |
ਥਕਿਤ ਰਹਤ ਜਾ ਕੌ ਲਖਿ ਬਾਮਾ ॥
thakit rehat jaa kau lakh baamaa |
ਅਧਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
adhik roop taa ko bidh kariyo |
ਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਅਵਤਰਿਯੋ ॥੨॥
jan kar kaam dev avatariyo |2|
ਚਪਲਾ ਦੇ ਤਹ ਸਾਹ ਦੁਲਾਰੀ ॥
chapalaa de teh saah dulaaree |
ਕਨਕ ਅਵਟਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਨੁ ਢਾਰੀ ॥
kanak avatt saache jan dtaaree |
ਰਾਜ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਜਬ ਤਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
raaj putr jab taeh nihaaraa |
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ਮਤਵਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
nirakh tarun hvai gayo matavaaraa |3|
ਏਕ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
ek sahacharee nikatt bulaaee |
ਅਮਿਤ ਦਰਬ ਦੈ ਤਹਾ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
amit darab dai tahaa patthaaee |
ਜਬ ਤੈ ਚਪਲ ਮਤੀ ਕੌ ਲ੍ਰਯੈ ਹੈਂ ॥
jab tai chapal matee kau lrayai hain |
ਮੁਖਿ ਮੰਗ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਸੋ ਪੈ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥
mukh mang hai jo kachh so pai hain |4|
ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਸਹਚਰਿ ਤਹ ਗਈ ॥
bachan sunat sahachar teh gee |
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧਤ ਭਈ ॥
bahu bidh taeh prabodhat bhee |
ਸਾਹ ਸੁਤਾ ਜਬ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
saah sutaa jab haath na aaee |
ਤਬ ਦੂਤੀ ਇਹ ਘਾਤ ਬਨਾਈ ॥੫॥
tab dootee ih ghaat banaaee |5|
ਤਵ ਪਿਤਿ ਧਾਮ ਜੁ ਨਏ ਉਸਾਰੇ ॥
tav pit dhaam ju ne usaare |
ਚਲਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਹ ਲਖੌ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
chalahu jaae tih lakhau savaare |
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਡੋਰਿਯਹਿ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
yau keh ddaar ddoriyeh liyo |
ਪਰਦਨ ਡਾਰਿ ਚਹੂੰ ਦਿਸਿ ਦਿਯੋ ॥੬॥
paradan ddaar chahoon dis diyo |6|
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਸਾਹ ਸੁਤਾ ਡਹਕਾਈ ॥
eih chhal saah sutaa ddahakaaee |
ਸੰਗ ਲਏ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੁਤ ਘਰ ਆਈ ॥
sang le nrip sut ghar aaee |
ਤਹੀ ਆਨਿ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਉਘਾਰ ॥
tahee aan paradaan ughaar |
ਨਾਰਿ ਲਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰਾ ॥੭॥
naar lakhaa teh raaj kumaaraa |7|
ਤਾਤ ਮਾਤ ਇਹ ਠੌਰ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
taat maat ih tthauar na bhaaee |
ਇਨ ਦੂਤੀ ਹੌ ਆਨਿ ਫਸਾਈ ॥
ein dootee hau aan fasaaee |
ਰਾਜ ਕੁਅਰ ਜੌ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ ਪੈ ਹੈ ॥
raaj kuar jau mujhai na pai hai |
ਨਾਕ ਕਾਨ ਕਟਿ ਲੀਕ ਲਗੈ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
naak kaan katt leek lagai hai |8|
ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਧਰਨਿ ਪਰ ॥
haae haae kar giree dharan par |
ਕਟੀ ਕਹਾ ਕਰ ਯਾਹਿ ਬਿਛੂ ਬਰ ॥
kattee kahaa kar yaeh bichhoo bar |
ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋ ਮੋ ਸੌ ਕਸ ਕੀਯਾ ॥
dhrig bidh ko mo sau kas keeyaa |
ਰਾਜ ਕੁਅਰ ਨਹਿ ਭੇਟਨ ਦੀਯਾ ॥੯॥
raaj kuar neh bhettan deeyaa |9|
ਅਬ ਮੈ ਨਿਜੁ ਘਰ ਕੌ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੈ ਹੌ ॥
ab mai nij ghar kau fir jai hau |
ਦ੍ਵੈ ਦਿਨ ਕੌ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਐ ਹੌ ॥
dvai din kau tumare fir ai hau |
ਰਾਜ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਲਖਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਨ ਲਈ ॥
raaj putr lakh kriyaa na lee |
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੂੰਡ ਤਿਹ ਗਈ ॥੧੦॥
eih chhal moondd moondd tih gee |10|
