ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ॥
preetam prem bhagat ke daate |
My Beloved Lord is the Giver of loving devotional worship.
ਅਪਨੇ ਜਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
apane jan sang raate |
His humble servants are imbued with His Love.
ਜਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥
jan sang raate dinas raate ik nimakh manahu na veesarai |
He is imbued with His servants, day and night; He does not forget them from His Mind, even for an instant.
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗੇ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਜਗਦੀਸਰੈ ॥
gopaal gun nidh sadaa sange sarab gun jagadeesarai |
He is the Lord of the World, the Treasure of virtue; He is always with me. All glorious virtues belong to the Lord of the Universe.
ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਨਾ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਜਨ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
man mohi leenaa charan sange naam ras jan maate |
With His Feet, He has fascinated my mind; as His humble servant, I am intoxicated with love for His Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸਦਹੂੰ ਕਿਨੈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
naanak preetam kripaal sadahoon kinai kott madhe jaate |1|
O Nanak, my Beloved is forever Merciful; out of millions, hardly anyone realizes Him. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
preetam teree gat agam apaare |
O Beloved, Your state is inaccessible and infinite.
ਮਹਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਤੁਮੑ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
mahaa patit tuma taare |
You save even the worst sinners.
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸੁਆਮੀਆ ॥
patit paavan bhagat vachhal kripaa sindh suaameea |
He is the Purifier of sinners, the Lover of His devotees, the Ocean of mercy, our Lord and Master.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗੇ ਭਜੁ ਨਿਸੰਗੇ ਰਂਉ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀਆ ॥
santasange bhaj nisange rnau sadaa antarajaameea |
In the Society of the Saints, vibrate and meditate on Him with commitment forever; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤ ਜੋਨੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
kott janam bhramant jonee te naam simarat taare |
Those who wander in reincarnation through millions of births, are saved and carried across, by meditating in remembrance on the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਮੑਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
naanak daras piaas har jeeo aap lehu samaare |2|
Nanak is thirsty for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, O Dear Lord; please take care of him. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
har charan kamal man leenaa |
My mind is absorbed in the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਲ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੀਨਾ ॥
prabh jal jan tere meenaa |
O God, You are the water; Your humble servants are fish.
ਜਲ ਮੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਏਕ ਤੂਹੈ ਭਿੰਨ ਆਨ ਨ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥
jal meen prabh jeeo ek toohai bhin aan na jaaneeai |
O Dear God, You alone are the water and the fish. I know that there is no difference between the two.
ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥
geh bhujaa levahu naam devahu tau prasaadee maaneeai |
Please take hold of my arm and bless me with Your Name. I am honored only by Your Grace.
ਭਜੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਏਕ ਰੰਗੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
bhaj saadhasange ek range kripaal gobid deenaa |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, vibrate and meditate with love on the One Lord of the Universe, who is Merciful to the meek.
ਅਨਾਥ ਨੀਚ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੩॥
anaath neech saranaae naanak kar meaa apunaa keenaa |3|
Nanak, the lowly and helpless, seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord, who in His Kindness has made him His Own. ||3||
ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
aapas kau aap milaaeaa |
He unites us with Himself.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੰਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
bhram bhanjan har raaeaa |
Our Sovereign Lord King is the Destroyer of fear.
ਆਚਰਜ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
aacharaj suaamee antarajaamee mile gun nidh piaariaa |
My Wondrous Lord and Master is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. My Beloved, the Treasure of virtue, has met me.
ਮਹਾ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੂਖ ਉਪਜੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
mahaa mangal sookh upaje gobind gun nit saariaa |
Supreme happiness and peace well up, as I cherish the Glorious Virtues of the Lord of the Universe.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੋਹੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
mil sang sohe dekh mohe purab likhiaa paaeaa |
Meeting with Him, I am embellished and exalted; gazing on Him, I am fascinated, and I realize my pre-ordained destiny.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੧॥
binavant naanak saran tin kee jinaee har har dhiaaeaa |4|1|
Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of those who meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||1||

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਸੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਵੁਠੈ ਧਰਣਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
gur miliai man rahaseeai jiau vutthai dharan seegaar |
Meeting with the Guru, the mind is delighted, like the earth embellished by the rain.
ਸਭ ਦਿਸੈ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਸਰ ਭਰੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਤਾਲ ॥
sabh disai hareeaavalee sar bhare subhar taal |
Everything becomes green and lush; the pools and ponds are filled to overflowing.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਰਚੈ ਸਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਿਉ ਮੰਜੀਠੈ ਲਾਲੁ ॥
andar rachai sach rang jiau manjeetthai laal |
The inner self is imbued with the deep crimson color of love for the True Lord.
ਕਮਲੁ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
kamal vigasai sach man gur kai sabad nihaal |
The heart-lotus blossoms forth and the mind becomes true; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is ecstatic and exalted.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੂਜੀ ਤਰਫ ਹੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥
manamukh doojee taraf hai vekhahu nadar nihaal |
The self-willed manmukh is on the wrong side. You can see this with your own eyes.
ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੇ ਮਿਰਗ ਜਿਉ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥
faahee faathe mirag jiau sir deesai jamakaal |
He is caught in the trap like the deer; the Messenger of Death hovers over his head.
ਖੁਧਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬੁਰੀ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਵਿਕਰਾਲੁ ॥
khudhiaa trisanaa nindaa buree kaam krodh vikaraal |
Hunger, thirst and slander are evil; sexual desire and anger are horrible.
ਏਨੀ ਅਖੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
enee akhee nadar na aavee jichar sabad na kare beechaar |
These cannot be seen with your eyes, until you contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਚੂਕੈ ਆਲ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ॥
tudh bhaavai santokheean chookai aal janjaal |
Whoever is pleasing to You is content; all his entanglements are gone.
ਮੂਲੁ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਗੁਰ ਪਉੜੀ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ॥
mool rahai gur seviai gur paurree bohith |
Serving the Guru, his capital is preserved. The Guru is the ladder and the boat.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਗੀ ਤਤੁ ਲੈ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥
naanak lagee tat lai toon sachaa man sach |1|
O Nanak, whoever is attached to the Lord receives the essence; O True Lord, You are found when the mind is true. ||1||

ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਧਾਮ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਆਯੋ ॥
eik din dhaam nripat ke aayo |
ਪਾਹਨ ਹਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਤਾਹਿ ਹਟਾਯੋ ॥
paahan han tih taeh hattaayo |
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਸੌ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਾ ॥
triy kee hutee svaan sau preetaa |
ਪਾਹਨ ਲਗੇ ਭਯੋ ਦੁਖ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੨॥
paahan lage bhayo dukh cheetaa |2|
ਪਾਹਨ ਲਗੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਮਰਿ ਗਯੋ ॥
paahan lage svaan mar gayo |
ਰਾਨੀ ਦੋਸ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕਹ ਦਯੋ ॥
raanee dos nripat keh dayo |
ਮਰਿਯੋ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਭਯੋ ਕਹਾ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
mariyo svaan bhayo kahaa uchaaraa |
ਐਸੇ ਹਮਰੇ ਪਰੈ ਹਜਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
aise hamare parai hajaaraa |3|
ਅਬ ਤੈ ਯਾ ਕੌ ਪੀਰ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥
ab tai yaa kau peer pachhaanaa |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭਾਤਿ ਪੂਜਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਾ ॥
taa ko bhaat pooj hai naanaa |
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸਹੀ ਤਬ ਯਾਹਿ ਪੁਜਾਊ ॥
kahiyo sahee tab yaeh pujaaoo |
ਭਲੇ ਭਲੇ ਤੇ ਨੀਰ ਭਰਾਊ ॥੪॥

tahee khod bhooa gaaddiyo baamaa |
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗੋਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਐਸੀ ॥

ਕਿਸੀ ਪੀਰ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਜੈਸੀ ॥੫॥

ਆਪੁ ਆਪਨੀ ਕਬੁਰ ਬਤਾਯੋ ॥

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਠੌਰ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥

ਜਬ ਹਮਰੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਬਰ ਆਨੀ ॥੭॥

ਜ੍ਰਯਾਰਤਿ ਸਕਲ ਲੋਗ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
jrayaarat sakal log mil aayo |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੀਰਨੀ ਚੜਾਵੈ ॥

ਚੂੰਬਿ ਕਬੁਰ ਕੂਕਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੮॥

ਪੜਿ ਫਾਤਯਾ ਸੀਰਨੀ ਬਟਾਵੈ ॥
parr faatayaa seeranee battaavai |
ਧੂਰਿ ਸਮਸ ਝਾਰੂਅਨ ਉਡਾਹੀ ॥
dhoor samas jhaarooan uddaahee |
ਚੂੰਮਿ ਕਬੁਰ ਕੂਕਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੯॥
