The brave warriors are thundering and the horses are speedily moving.
ਮਹਿਖੁਆਸ ਕਰਖੇ ॥

The bows are being pulled and the shafts are raining.5.127.
ਇਤੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਜਿਯੋ ॥

ਮਹਾ ਸੰਖ ਬਜਿਯੋ ॥
mahaa sankh bajiyo |
From this side the lion hath roared and the conch hath been blown.
ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਪੂਰੰ ॥

ਛੁਹੀ ਗੈਣਿ ਧੂਰੰ ॥੬॥੧੨੮॥

Its sound is filling the atmosphere. The sky is filled with the dust risen from the battlefield.6.128.
ਸਬੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਜੇ ॥

ਘਣੰ ਜੇਮ ਗਾਜੇ ॥
ghanan jem gaaje |
The warriors have bedecked themselves with weapons and are thundering like clouds.
ਚਲੇ ਤੇਜ ਤੈ ਕੈ ॥
chale tej tai kai |
ਅਨੰਤ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥੭॥੧੨੯॥

They are furiously moving, carrying countless weapons.7.129.
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
chahoon or dtooke |
ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੂਕੇ ॥

From all four sides the warriors are closing their ranks, shouting “kill, kill”.

The mighty warriors are thundering and countless weapons are striking blows.8.130.

ਧਰੇ ਪਾਣਿ ਸਕਤੰ ॥
dhare paan sakatan |
Carrying the powerful weapons in their hands, their faces and eyes are becoming blood-red.
ਕੀਏ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਉਠੇ ॥

In great fury, they are marching and showering their arrows.9.131.

Many of the tyrants have been killed and consequently countless weapons are lying scattered hither and thither.

ਕਹ ਕਹ ਸੁ ਕੂਕਤ ਕੰਕੀਯੰ ॥

ਬਹਿ ਬਹਤ ਬੀਰ ਸੁ ਬੰਕੀਯੰ ॥
beh behat beer su bankeeyan |
The crows are uttering “caw, caw” and the blood of mighty heroes is flowing.
ਲਹ ਲਹਤ ਬਾਣਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣਯੰ ॥

ਗਹ ਗਹਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਮਸਾਣਯੰ ॥੧੧॥੧੩੩॥

The arrows and swords are waving in the wind and the ghosts and evil spirits are catching the dead.11.133.
ਡਹ ਡਹਤ ਡਵਰ ਡਮੰਕਯੰ ॥

ਲਹ ਲਹਤ ਤੇਗ ਤ੍ਰਮੰਕਯੰ ॥

The tobors are resounding and the swords are glistening.

The sounds of striking daggers and the thundering of the warriors are being heard.12.134.
ਛੁਟਕੰਤ ਬਾਣ ਕਮਾਣਯੰ ॥

ਹਰਰੰਤ ਖੇਤ ਖਤ੍ਰਾਣਯੰ ॥
hararant khet khatraanayan |
The arrows shot from the bows create surprises in the minds of the warriors.
ਡਹਕੰਤ ਡਾਮਰ ਡੰਕਣੀ ॥

ਕਹ ਕਹਕ ਕੂਕਤ ਜੁਗਣੀ ॥੧੩॥੧੩੫॥

The vampires are fearing from the sound of the labor and the female demons are wandering and laughing.13.135.
ਉਫਟੰਤ ਸ੍ਰੋਣਤ ਛਿਛਯੰ ॥

ਬਰਖੰਤ ਸਾਇਕ ਤਿਛਯੰ ॥

Because of the rain of sharp arrows, the blood is splashing.

ਫਿਕਰੰਤ ਸਿਆਰ ਬਸੇਖਯੰ ॥੧੪॥੧੩੬॥

Many warriors are roaring and the jackals, in particular, being pleased, are howling.14.136.
ਹਰਖੰਤ ਸ੍ਰੋਣਤਿ ਰੰਗਣੀ ॥

ਬਿਹਰੰਤ ਦੇਬਿ ਅਭੰਗਣੀ ॥

The immortal Durga, the dyer with blood, is moving, pleased with her task.
ਬਬਕੰਤ ਕੇਹਰ ਡੋਲਹੀ ॥

ਰਣਿ ਅਭੰਗ ਕਲੋਲਹੀ ॥੧੫॥੧੩੭॥

The roaring lion is running and such is the continuous situation in the battlefield.15.137.
ਢਮ ਢਮਤ ਢੋਲ ਢਮਕਯੰ ॥

ਧਮ ਧਮਤ ਸਾਗ ਧਮਕਯੰ ॥
dham dhamat saag dhamakayan |
The drums are resounding and the daggers are clanking.
ਬਹ ਬਹਤ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣਯੰ ॥
beh behat krudh kripaanayan |
ਜੁਝੈਤ ਜੋਧ ਜੁਆਣਯੰ ॥੧੬॥੧੩੮॥

The fighting warriors, in great fury, are striking their swords.16.138.

Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
meraa prabh niramal agam apaaraa |
My God is Immaculate, Inaccessible and Infinite.
ਬਿਨੁ ਤਕੜੀ ਤੋਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
bin takarree tolai sansaaraa |
Without a scale, He weighs the universe.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
guramukh hovai soee boojhai gun keh gunee samaavaniaa |1|
One who becomes Gurmukh, understands. Chanting His Glorious Praises, he is absorbed into the Lord of Virtue. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vaaree jeeo vaaree har kaa naam man vasaavaniaa |
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those whose minds are filled with the Name of the Lord.
ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo sach laage se anadin jaage dar sachai sobhaa paavaniaa |1| rahaau |
Those who are committed to Truth remain awake and aware night and day. They are honored in the True Court. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣੈ ਤੈ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
aap sunai tai aape vekhai |
He Himself hears, and He Himself sees.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
jis no nadar kare soee jan lekhai |
Those, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace, become acceptable.
ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਲਾਗੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
aape laae le so laagai guramukh sach kamaavaniaa |2|
They are attached, whom the Lord Himself attaches; as Gurmukh, they live the Truth. ||2||
ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਸੁ ਕਿਥੈ ਹਥੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
jis aap bhulaae su kithai hath paae |
Those whom the Lord Himself misleads-whose hand can they take?
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
poorab likhiaa su mettanaa na jaae |
That which is pre-ordained, cannot be erased.
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
jin satigur miliaa se vaddabhaagee poorai karam milaavaniaa |3|
Those who meet the True Guru are very fortunate and blessed; through perfect karma, He is met. ||3||
ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਧਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੁਤੀ ॥
peeearrai dhan anadin sutee |
The young bride is fast asleep in her parents' home, night and day.
ਕੰਤਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਮੁਤੀ ॥
kant visaaree avagan mutee |
She has forgotten her Husband Lord; because of her faults and demerits, she is abandoned.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
anadin sadaa firai bilalaadee bin pir need na paavaniaa |4|
She wanders around continually, crying out, night and day. Without her Husband Lord, she cannot get any sleep. ||4||
ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
peeearrai sukhadaataa jaataa |
In this world of her parents' home, she may come to know the Giver of peace,
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
haumai maar gur sabad pachhaataa |
if she subdues her ego, and recognizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
sej suhaavee sadaa pir raave sach seegaar banaavaniaa |5|
Her bed is beautiful; she ravishes and enjoys her Husband Lord forever. She is adorned with the Decorations of Truth. ||5||
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
lakh chauraaseeh jeea upaae |
He created the 8.4 million species of beings.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
jis no nadar kare tis guroo milaae |
Those, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace, come to meet the Guru.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
kilabikh kaatt sadaa jan niramal dar sachai naam suhaavaniaa |6|
Shedding their sins, His servants are forever pure; at the True Court, they are beautified by the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||6||
ਲੇਖਾ ਮਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਨਿ ਦੀਐ ॥
lekhaa maagai taa kin deeai |
When they are called to settle their accounts, who will answer then?
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਦੂਐ ਤੀਐ ॥
sukh naahee fun dooai teeai |
There shall be no peace then, from counting out by twos and threes.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
aape bakhas le prabh saachaa aape bakhas milaavaniaa |7|
The True Lord God Himself forgives, and having forgiven, He unites them with Himself. ||7||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
aap kare tai aap karaae |
He Himself does, and He Himself causes all to be done.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
poore gur kai sabad milaae |
Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, He is met.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨॥੩॥
naanak naam milai vaddiaaee aape mel milaavaniaa |8|2|3|
O Nanak, through the Naam, greatness is obtained. He Himself unites in His Union. ||8||2||3||
