Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
kott laakh sarab ko raajaa jis hiradai naam tumaaraa |
One who has Your Name in his heart is the king of all the hundreds of thousands and millions of beings.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਦੀਆ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
jaa kau naam na deea merai satigur se mar janameh gaavaaraa |1|
Those, whom my True Guru has not blessed with Your Name, are poor idiots, who die and are reborn. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥
mere satigur hee pat raakh |
My True Guru protects and preserves my honor.
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਰਲੀਐ ਖਾਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
cheet aaveh tab hee pat pooree bisarat raleeai khaak |1| rahaau |
When You come to mind, Lord, then I obtain perfect honor. Forgetting You, I roll in the dust. ||1||Pause||
ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਮਨ ਭੋਗਣ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
roop rang khuseea man bhogan te te chhidr vikaaraa |
The mind's pleasures of love and beauty bring just as many blames and sins.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਕਲਿਆਣਾ ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜੁ ਇਹੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
har kaa naam nidhaan kaliaanaa sookh sehaj ihu saaraa |2|
The Name of the Lord is the treasure of Emancipation; it is absolute peace and poise. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਰੰਗ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
maaeaa rang birang khinai meh jiau baadar kee chhaaeaa |
The pleasures of Maya fade away in an instant, like the shade of a passing cloud.
ਸੇ ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਗੂੜੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
se laal bhe goorrai rang raate jin gur mil har har gaaeaa |3|
They alone are dyed in the deep crimson of the Lord's Love, who meet the Guru, and sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਊਚ ਮੂਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਗਮ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥
aooch mooch apaar suaamee agam darabaaraa |
My Lord and Master is lofty and exalted, grand and infinite. The Darbaar of His Court is inaccessible.
ਨਾਮੋ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੬॥
naamo vaddiaaee sobhaa naanak khasam piaaraa |4|7|16|
Through the Naam, glorious greatness and respect are obtained; O Nanak, my Lord and Master is my Beloved. ||4||7||16||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਉਤਪਾਤੀ ॥
oankaar utapaatee |
The One Universal Creator Lord created the creation.
ਕੀਆ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸਭ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
keea dinas sabh raatee |
He made all the days and the nights.
ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਪਾਣੀ ॥
van trin tribhavan paanee |
The forests, meadows, three worlds, water,
ਚਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਚਾਰੇ ਖਾਣੀ ॥
chaar bed chaare khaanee |
the four Vedas, the four sources of creation,
ਖੰਡ ਦੀਪ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਆ ॥
khandd deep sabh loaa |
the countries, the continents and all the worlds,
ਏਕ ਕਵਾਵੈ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਹੋਆ ॥੧॥
ek kavaavai te sabh hoaa |1|
have all come from the One Word of the Lord. ||1||
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਰੇ ॥
karanaihaaraa boojhahu re |
Hey - understand the Creator Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਸੂਝੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur milai ta soojhai re |1| rahaau |
If you meet the True Guru, then you'll understand. ||1||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕੀਆ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
trai gun keea pasaaraa |
He formed the expanse of the entire universe from the three gunas, the three qualities.
ਨਰਕ ਸੁਰਗ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ॥
narak surag avataaraa |
People are incarnated in heaven and in hell.
ਹਉਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥
haumai aavai jaaee |
In egotism, they come and go.
ਮਨੁ ਟਿਕਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਰਾਈ ॥
man ttikan na paavai raaee |
The mind cannot hold still, even for an instant.
ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥
baajh guroo gubaaraa |
Without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
mil satigur nisataaraa |2|
Meeting with the True Guru, one is emancipated. ||2||
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਣੇ ॥
hau hau karam kamaane |
All the deeds done in egotism,
ਤੇ ਤੇ ਬੰਧ ਗਲਾਣੇ ॥
te te bandh galaane |
are just chains around the neck.
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
meree meree dhaaree |
Harboring self-conceit and self-interest
ਓਹਾ ਪੈਰਿ ਲੋਹਾਰੀ ॥
ohaa pair lohaaree |
is just like placing chains around one's ankles.
ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
so gur mil ek pachhaanai |
He alone meets with the Guru, and realizes the One Lord,
ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਥਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
jis hovai bhaag mathaanai |3|
who has such destiny written on his forehead. ||3||
ਸੋ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
so miliaa ji har man bhaaeaa |
He alone meets the Lord, who is pleasing to His Mind.
ਸੋ ਭੂਲਾ ਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
so bhoolaa ji prabhoo bhulaaeaa |
He alone is deluded, who is deluded by God.
ਨਹ ਆਪਹੁ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
neh aapahu moorakh giaanee |
No one, by himself, is ignorant or wise.
ਜਿ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨੀ ॥
ji karaavai su naam vakhaanee |
He alone chants the Naam, whom the Lord inspires to do so.
ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
teraa ant na paaraavaaraa |
You have no end or limitation.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੭॥
jan naanak sad balihaaraa |4|1|17|
Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||17||

ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਰਾਨੀ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥
kaam kel taa sau kariyo raanee at sukh paae |
Herself, she made love with him and felt relieved.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਤਿਹ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੋ ਐਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੮॥
bahur bachan tih purakh so aiso kahiyo sunaae |8|
Then she talked to that man like this,(8)

ਤੁਮਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕਹੋ ਕਾ ਰਹੀ ॥
tumaree prabhaa kaho kaa rahee |
ਨਿਜ ਨਾਰੀ ਰਾਜੈ ਜੋ ਚਹੀ ॥
nij naaree raajai jo chahee |
‘What has happened to your honour? Your wife goes to Raja.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸੋ ਔਰ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
jaa kee triy so aauar bihaarai |
ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥੯॥
dhrig taa ko sabh jagat uchaarai |9|
‘The wife, who revels in sex with another man, is reproved.’(9)

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਭੋਗ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਤੋ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਿਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
pratham bhog man bhaavato raanee kiyo banaae |
First she had made love with him to her full satisfaction,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਐਸੇ ਰਿਸ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥੧੦॥
bahur bachan taa sau kahiyo aise ris upajaae |10|
And then, to infuriate him, she spoke thus,(10)

ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੌ ਰਾਵ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥
tumaree triy kau raav bulaavai |
ਕਾਮ ਭੋਗ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
kaam bhog tih saath kamaavai |
‘Raja invited your wife and, then, sexually relished sex with her.
ਤੂ ਨਹਿ ਮਰਿਯੋ ਲਾਜ ਕੋ ਮਰਈ ॥
too neh mariyo laaj ko maree |
ਪਾਵਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਾਇ ਨਹਿ ਜਰਈ ॥੧੧॥
paavak bikhai jaae neh jaree |11|
‘You should die in shame or why don’t you burn yourself for thisignominy.’(11)

ਕੈ ਯਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਰਾਵ ਤੇ ਬਦਲੋ ਲੇਹਿ ਬਨਾਇ ॥

‘Either you take revenge from the Raja,
ਨਾਤਰ ਬਦ੍ਰਿਕਾਸ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਖੈ ਗਰੌ ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
naatar badrikaasram bikhai garau himaachal jaae |12|
‘Or you run away to the mountains and bury yourself in snow.’(12)

ਜੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਹੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਰੌ ॥
jo triy kaho mohi so karau |
ਸਬਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਨੈਕ ਨ ਡਰੌ ॥
sabak singh te naik na ddarau |
‘Dear Rani, whatever you say, I will abide by and I will not dreadSabhak Singh.
ਇਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਖ੍ਵਾਰ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
ein keeno grih khvaar hamaaro |
ਮੈਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸੰਗ ਬਿਹਾਰੋ ॥੧੩॥
maihoon tih triy sang bihaaro |13|
‘He has disrupted my house, I will make love with his wife too.(13)
ਰੋਮਾਤਕ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਲਗਾਵੋ ॥
romaatak tum pratham lagaavo |
ਸਕਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੌ ਭੇਸ ਛਕਾਵੋ ॥
sakal triyaa kau bhes chhakaavo |
(Rani)‘You bring in some hair-removing powder and then disguise yourselfas a woman.
ਜਬ ਤੁਮ ਕੌ ਰਾਜਾ ਲਖਿ ਪੈ ਹੈ ॥
jab tum kau raajaa lakh pai hai |
ਤੁਰਤੁ ਮਦਨ ਕੇ ਬਸਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
turat madan ke bas hvai jai hai |14|
‘When Raja will see you, he will surely be taken over by theCupid.’(14)
ਜਾਰ ਕੇਸ ਸਭ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
jaar kes sabh door karaae |
ਭੂਖਨ ਅੰਗ ਅਨੂਪ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
bhookhan ang anoop suhaae |
The powder removed all his hair and the he adorned ornaments.
ਜਾਇ ਦਰਸ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਦਿਯੋ ॥
jaae daras raajaa ko diyo |
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਤਮਾ ਲਿਯੋ ॥੧੫॥
nrip ko mohi aatamaa liyo |15|
He went, showed himself to the Raja, and he was totally infatualed.(15)
ਜਬ ਰਾਜੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jab raajai taa ko lakh paayo |
ਦੌਰਿ ਸਦਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਕੇ ਆਯੋ ॥
dauar sadan raanee ke aayo |
As soon as he saw him, he came running to the Rani’s palace,
ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਿਕ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
he sundar mai triyik nihaaree |
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੀ ॥੧੬॥
jaanuk mahaa rudr kee payaaree |16|
And said, ‘I have seen here a woman, as pretty as goddess Parbati.(I6)
ਜੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਤਿਹ ਤੂ ਆਜ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਂ ॥
jo muhi tih too aaj milaavain |
ਜੋ ਮਾਗੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਵੈਂ ॥
jo maagai mukh te so paavain |
‘If you let her meet me, I will do for you whatever you say.’
ਰਾਨੀ ਫੂਲਿ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਗਈ ॥
raanee fool bachan sun gee |
ਜੋ ਮੈ ਚਾਹਤ ਥੀ ਸੋਊ ਭਈ ॥੧੭॥
jo mai chaahat thee soaoo bhee |17|
Rani was overjoyed to hear that she would get whatever she wanted. (17)
ਸੁਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਈ ॥
sunat bachan raanee grih aaee |
ਤੌਨ ਜਾਰ ਕੋ ਦਯੋ ਭਿਟਾਈ ॥
tauan jaar ko dayo bhittaaee |
Rani came to her chambers and introduced her friend to Raja.
ਜਬ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹਾਥ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
jab taa ko nrip haath chalaayo |
ਪਕਰਿ ਰਾਵ ਕੋ ਤਰੇ ਦਬਾਯੋ ॥੧੮॥
pakar raav ko tare dabaayo |18|
When Raja commenced caressing him, he clutched him and nabbedhim down.(I8)
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਪਕਰਿ ਭੁਜਨ ਤੇ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
nrip ko pakar bhujan te liyo |
ਗੁਦਾ ਭੋਗ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
gudaa bhog taa ko drirr kiyo |
Holding him by his arms, he ravaged him with annul sex.
ਤੋਰਿ ਤਾਰਿ ਤਨ ਰੁਧਿਰ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
tor taar tan rudhir chalaayo |
ਅਧਿਕ ਰਾਵ ਮਨ ਮਾਝ ਲਜਾਯੋ ॥੧੯॥
adhik raav man maajh lajaayo |19|
He tore him to bleed and the Raja felt extremely ashamed ofhimself.(19)
