ਬਾਹਰਿ ਢੂਢਨ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਿ ਪਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
baahar dtoodtan te chhoott pare gur ghar hee maeh dikhaaeaa thaa |
I have quit searching outside; the Guru has shown me that God is within the home of my own heart.
ਅਨਭਉ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੧॥
anbhau acharaj roop prabh pekhiaa meraa man chhodd na katahoo jaaeaa thaa |1|
I have seen God, fearless, of wondrous beauty; my mind shall never leave Him to go anywhere else. ||1||
ਮਾਨਕੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਪਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
maanak paaeo re paaeo har pooraa paaeaa thaa |
I have found the jewel; I have found the Perfect Lord.
ਮੋਲਿ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mol amol na paaeaa jaaee kar kirapaa guroo divaaeaa thaa |1| rahaau |
The invaluable value cannot be obtained; in His Mercy, the Guru bestows it. ||1||Pause||
ਅਦਿਸਟੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
adisatt agochar paarabraham mil saadhoo akath kathaaeaa thaa |
The Supreme Lord God is imperceptible and unfathomable; meeting the Holy Saint, I speak the Unspoken Speech.
ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦੁ ਦਸਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਵਜਿਓ ਤਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੁਆਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੨॥
anahad sabad dasam duaar vajio teh amrit naam chuaaeaa thaa |2|
The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates and resounds in the Tenth Gate; the Ambrosial Naam trickles down there. ||2||
ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੀ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
tott naahee man trisanaa boojhee akhutt bhanddaar samaaeaa thaa |
I lack nothing; the thirsty desires of my mind are satisfied. The inexhaustible treasure has entered into my being.
ਚਰਣ ਚਰਣ ਚਰਣ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਅਘੜੁ ਘੜਿਓ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੩॥
charan charan charan gur seve agharr gharrio ras paaeaa thaa |3|
I serve the feet, the feet, the feet of the Guru, and manage the unmanageable. I have found the juice, the sublime essence. ||3||
ਸਹਜੇ ਆਵਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਵਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਖੇਲਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
sahaje aavaa sahaje jaavaa sahaje man khelaaeaa thaa |
Intuitively I come, and intuively I go; my mind intuitively plays.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਇਆ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
kahu naanak bharam gur khoeaa taa har mahalee mehal paaeaa thaa |4|3|12|
Says Nanak, when the Guru drives out doubt, then the soul-bride enters the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||4||3||12||

Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jiseh saaj nivaajiaa tiseh siau ruch naeh |
You feel no love for the One who created and embellished you.
ਆਨ ਰੂਤੀ ਆਨ ਬੋਈਐ ਫਲੁ ਨ ਫੂਲੈ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
aan rootee aan boeeai fal na foolai taeh |1|
The seed, planted out season, does not germinate; it does not produce flower or fruit. ||1||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਤ੍ਰ ਬੀਜਣ ਨਾਉ ॥
re man vatr beejan naau |
O mind, this is the time to plant the seed of the Name.
ਬੋਇ ਖੇਤੀ ਲਾਇ ਮਨੂਆ ਭਲੋ ਸਮਉ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
boe khetee laae manooaa bhalo smau suaau |1| rahaau |
Focus your mind, and cultivate this crop; at the proper time, make this your purpose. ||1||Pause||
ਖੋਇ ਖਹੜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
khoe khaharraa bharam man kaa satigur saranee jaae |
Eradicate the stubbornness and doubt of your mind, and go to the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
ਕਰਮੁ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
karam jis kau dhurahu likhiaa soee kaar kamaae |2|
He alone does such deeds, who has such pre-ordained karma. ||2||
ਭਾਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਸਿਉ ਘਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਥਾਇ ॥
bhaau laagaa gobid siau ghaal paaee thaae |
He falls in love with the Lord of the Universe, and his efforts are approved.
ਖੇਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
khet merai jamiaa nikhutt na kabahoo jaae |3|
My crop has germinated, and it shall never be used up. ||3||
ਪਾਇਆ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੋ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥
paaeaa amol padaaratho chhodd na katahoo jaae |
I have obtained the priceless wealth, which shall never leave me or go anywhere else.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥
kahu naanak sukh paaeaa tripat rahe aaghaae |4|4|13|
Says Nanak, I have found peace; I am satisfied and fulfilled. ||4||4||13||

ਫੂਟੋ ਆਂਡਾ ਭਰਮ ਕਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
footto aanddaa bharam kaa maneh bheo paragaas |
The egg of doubt has burst; my mind has been enlightened.
ਕਾਟੀ ਬੇਰੀ ਪਗਹ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਬੰਦਿ ਖਲਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
kaattee beree pagah te gur keenee band khalaas |1|
The Guru has shattered the shackles on my feet, and has set me free. ||1||
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹਿਓ ॥
aavan jaan rahio |
My coming and going in reincarnation is ended.
ਤਪਤ ਕੜਾਹਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tapat karraahaa bujh geaa gur seetal naam deeo |1| rahaau |
The boiling cauldron has cooled down; the Guru has blessed me with the cooling, soothing Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਉ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਗਹਾਰ ॥
jab te saadhoo sang bheaa tau chhodd ge nigahaar |
Since I joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, those who were eyeing me have left.
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਅਟਕ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੀ ਤਉ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਕੋਟਵਾਰ ॥੨॥
jis kee attak tis te chhuttee tau kahaa karai kottavaar |2|
The one who tied me up, has released me; what can the Watchman of Death do to me now? ||2||
ਚੂਕਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਹਕਰਮਾ ॥
chookaa bhaaraa karam kaa hoe nihakaramaa |
The load of my karma has been removed, and I am now free of karma.
ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕੰਢੈ ਚੜੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
saagar te kandtai charre gur keene dharamaa |3|
I have crossed the world-ocean, and reached the other shore; the Guru has blessed me with this Dharma. ||3||
ਸਚੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਬੈਠਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਉ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥
sach thaan sach baitthakaa sach suaau banaaeaa |
True is my place, and True is my seat; I have made Truth my life's purpose.
ਸਚੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪॥
sach poonjee sach vakharo naanak ghar paaeaa |4|5|14|
True is my capital, and True is the merchandise, which Nanak has placed into the home of the heart. ||4||5||14||

ਬੇਦੁ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਪੰਡਤ ਕਾਮਾਮਨ ਕਾ ਮਾਠਾ ॥
bed pukaarai mukh te panddat kaamaaman kaa maatthaa |
The Pandit, the religious scholar, proclaims the Vedas, but he is slow to act on them.
ਮੋਨੀ ਹੋਇ ਬੈਠਾ ਇਕਾਂਤੀ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਲਪਨ ਗਾਠਾ ॥
monee hoe baitthaa ikaantee hiradai kalapan gaatthaa |
Another person on silence sits alone, but his heart is tied in knots of desire.
ਹੋਇ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਠਾ ॥੧॥
hoe udaasee grihu taj chalio chhuttakai naahee naatthaa |1|
Another becomes an Udaasi, a renunciate; he abandons his home and walks out on his family, but his wandering impulses do not leave him. ||1||
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਕੈ ਪਹਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹਾ ॥
jeea kee kai peh baat kahaa |
Who can I tell about the state of my soul?
ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਐਸੋ ਕਹਾ ਲਹਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aap mukat mo kau prabh mele aiso kahaa lahaa |1| rahaau |
Where can I find such a person who is liberated, and who can unite me with my God? ||1||Pause||
ਤਪਸੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਦੇਹੀ ਸਾਧੀ ਮਨੂਆ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਨਾ ॥
tapasee kar kai dehee saadhee manooaa deh dis dhaanaa |
Someone may practice intensive meditation, and discipline his body, but his mind still runs around in ten directions.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਜੁ ਕੀਨਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਭਇਆ ਗੁਮਾਨਾ ॥
brahamachaar brahamachaj keenaa hiradai bheaa gumaanaa |
The celibate practices celibacy, but his heart is filled with pride.
ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਉਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
saniaasee hoe kai teerath bhramio us meh krodh bigaanaa |2|
The Sannyaasi wanders around at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, but his mindless anger is still within him. ||2||
ਘੂੰਘਰ ਬਾਧਿ ਭਏ ਰਾਮਦਾਸਾ ਰੋਟੀਅਨ ਕੇ ਓਪਾਵਾ ॥
ghoonghar baadh bhe raamadaasaa rotteean ke opaavaa |
The temple dancers tie bells around their ankles to earn their living.
ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕਰਮ ਖਟ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਾਵਾ ॥
barat nem karam khatt keene baahar bhekh dikhaavaa |
Others go on fasts, take vows, perform the six rituals and wear religious robes for show.
ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਗ ਅਲਾਪੇ ਮਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੩॥
geet naad mukh raag alaape man nahee har har gaavaa |3|
Some sing songs and melodies and hymns, but their minds do not sing of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਰਹਤ ਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤਾ ॥
harakh sog lobh moh rehat heh niramal har ke santaa |
The Lord's Saints are immaculately pure; they are beyond pleasure and pain, beyond greed and attachment.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਪਾਏ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
tin kee dhoorr paae man meraa jaa deaa kare bhagavantaa |
My mind obtains the dust of their feet, when the Lord God shows mercy.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਰੀ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥੪॥
kahu naanak gur pooraa miliaa taan utaree man kee chintaa |4|
Says Nanak, I met the Perfect Guru, and then the anxiety of my mind was removed. ||4||
ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥

My Sovereign Lord is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਬਕਬਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੬॥੧੫॥
sabh kichh jaanai mere jeea kaa preetam bisar ge bakabaaeaa |1| rahaau doojaa |6|15|
The Beloved of my soul knows everything; all trivial talk is forgotten. ||1||Second Pause||6||15||

ਮਨੌ ਆਨਿ ਕੈ ਲਾਤ ਸੈਤਾਨ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
manau aan kai laat saitaan maaree |
Raja was nonplussed as if Satan had taken over him.
ਰਹਿਯੋ ਮੂੰਡ ਕੌ ਨ︀ਯਾਇ ਬੈਨੇ ਨ ਬੋਲੈ ॥
rahiyo moondd kau nayaae baine na bolai |
ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਝੂੰਮਿ ਕੈ ਭੂੰਮਿ ਆਖੈਂ ਨ ਖੋਲੈ ॥੨੧॥
giriyo jhoonm kai bhoonm aakhain na kholai |21|
He sat down with his head hanging, then he swung and fell flat witheyes closed.(21)
ਘਰੀ ਚਾਰਿ ਬੀਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨੈਕ ਪਾਈ ॥
gharee chaar beete prabhaa naik paaee |
ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਫੇਰਿ ਭੂਮੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਵ ਜਾਈ ॥
giriyo fer bhoomai kahoon raav jaaee |
After four watches, when he awoke, he found himselflying on the ground.
ਕਹੂੰ ਪਾਗ ਛੂਟੀ ਕਹੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਟੂਟੇ ॥
kahoon paag chhoottee kahoon haar ttootte |
ਗਿਰੈ ਬੀਰ ਜ︀ਯੋ ਘੂੰਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੈ ਨਿਖੂਟੇ ॥੨੨॥
girai beer jayo ghoonm praanai nikhootte |22|
His turban had flown away and the beads of his necklace were scattered,as if he had fallen like dead soldier.(22)
ਸਭੈ ਲੋਕ ਧਾਏ ਲਯੋਠਾਇ ਤਾ ਕੌ ॥
sabhai lok dhaae layotthaae taa kau |
ਘਨੌ ਸੀਂਚਿ ਕੈ ਬਾਰਿ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਵਾ ਕੌ ॥
ghanau seench kai baar gulaab vaa kau |
People came running, lifted him up and sprinkled rose water over him.
ਘਰੀ ਪਾਚ ਪਾਛੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
gharee paach paachhai nripat sudh paaee |
ਕਰੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਅਨੇਕੈ ਬਢਾਈ ॥੨੩॥
karee bhaat bhritan anekai badtaaee |23|
After a few hours, when he regained full consciousness, the servantsspoke in sycophantic tones.(23)
ਡਰੇ ਕਾਜ ਕਾਹੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
ddare kaaj kaahe mahaaraaj mere |
ਲਏ ਸੂਰ ਠਾਢੇ ਸਭੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
le soor tthaadte sabhai sasatr tere |
‘Oh, Our Great Raja, why are you dreading, all your braves lacedwith armours are around you,
ਕਹੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਡਾਰੈ ਕਹੋ ਬਾਧਿ ਲ︀ਯਾਵੈ ॥
kaho maar ddaarai kaho baadh layaavai |
ਕਹੋ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਕ ਲੀਕੈ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥੨੪॥
kaho kaatt ke naak leekai lagaavai |24|
‘If you order, we will kill him, tie him or cut him to bow in repentance.’(24)

ਹਿੰਮਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਹੀ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਰੋਸ ਕੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਰੂਰੋ ॥
hinmat singh kahee has kai chit mai at ros ko maar marooro |
Internally full of rage, but, smilingly, Bikrim Singh said aloud,
ਏਕ ਧਨੀ ਨਵ ਜੋਬਨ ਦੂਸਰ ਤੀਸਰੇ ਹੋ ਪੁਰਸੋਤਮ ਪੂਰੋ ॥
ek dhanee nav joban doosar teesare ho purasotam pooro |
‘He is benevolent and young and, thirdly, he is superior human being,
ਆਖਿਨ ਮੂੰਦਿ ਹਨ︀ਯੋ ਕੁਪਿਯਾ ਕਹ ਯਾ ਪਰ ਕੋਪ ਕਿਯੋ ਸਭ ਕੂਰੋ ॥
aakhin moond hanayo kupiyaa keh yaa par kop kiyo sabh kooro |
‘By keeping his one eye closed, he has hit at the funnel, why shouldI get revengeful on him.
ਕੈਸੇ ਕੈ ਆਜੁ ਹਨੋ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਜੁ ਹੈ ਰਾਵ ਬਡੋ ਅਰੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੂਰੋ ॥੨੫॥
kaise kai aaj hano ih ko ju hai raav baddo ar sundar sooro |25|
‘He is brave and handsome Raja, how can he be annihilated.’(25)

taa sundar par kachh na basaayo |
Declaring thus he hung his head but did not reprimand the Rani.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
grih te kaadt triyeh pun deenee |
ਇਹ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਨੀ ॥੨੬॥
eih charitr setee har leenee |26|
Bringing the woman out of his palace he gave her away and throughthis trickery he (Parm Singh) won over the lady.(26)

Through such a manoeuvre Rani achieved him as well,
ਲੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਗਯੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥੨੭॥
lai taa ko grih ko gayo adhik hridai sukh paae |27|
And, getting fully satisfied, brought him home.(27)

ਰਹਿਯੋ ਮੋਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਠਾਨਿ ਨਾਰ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨਿਹੁਰਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੨੮॥
rahiyo mon mukh tthaan naar rahiyo nihuraae kai |28|
And he remained qu;et and kept sitting there with his head bowingdown.(28)(1)

ਬਾਜ ਮਤੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
baaj matee taa kee bar naaree |
Sabhak Singh had been a great king and Baaj Mati was his pretty wife.
ਕਾਹੂ ਸੋ ਨਹਿ ਰਾਵ ਲਜਾਵੈ ॥
kaahoo so neh raav lajaavai |
ਸਭ ਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਸੋ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
sabh isatrin so kel kamaavai |1|
Raja was not shy; with all the females he played love games.(1)
ਜੋ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਕਹੇ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
jo isatree tih kahe na aavai |
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਖਾਟ ਉਠਾਇ ਮੰਗਾਵੈ ॥
taa kee khaatt utthaae mangaavai |
Any woman who would not consent, he used to get her kidnapped.
ਅਧਿਕ ਭੋਗ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਰਈ ॥
adhik bhog taa so nrip karee |
ਰਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਜਿਯ ਨੈਕ ਨ ਡਰਈ ॥੨॥
raanee te jiy naik na ddaree |2|
He would have plenty oflove play and never cared about his Rani.(2)
ਬਾਜ ਮਤੀ ਜਿਯ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਾਵੈ ॥
baaj matee jiy adhik risaavai |
ਸਬਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਰ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥
sabak singh par kachh na basaavai |
Baaj Mati always felt very remorse but Sabhak Singh remained careless.
ਤਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਏਕ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tab triy ek charitr bichaariyo |
ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਟਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੩॥
raajaa ko duramat te ttaariyo |3|
Once Rani played a trick and prevented Raja from his inauspiciousdeeds.(3)
ਰੂਪਵਤੀ ਜੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
roopavatee jo triy lakh paavai |
ਸਬਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋ ਜਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥
sabak singh so jaae sunaavai |
Whenever she saw a beautiful woman, she would go to Sabhak Singhand tell him,
ਤੁਮ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਿਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਬੁਲਾਵੋ ॥
tum raajaa tih triyaa bulaavo |
ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਕਮਾਵੋ ॥੪॥
kaam kel tih saath kamaavo |4|
‘You, Raja, call that woman and make love with her.’(4)
ਜਬ ਯੌ ਬਚਨ ਰਾਵ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
jab yau bachan raav sun paavai |
ਤੌਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੋ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਵੈ ॥
tauan triyaa ko bol patthaavai |
Acquiescing to this Raja would get that woman,
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
jaa kee raanee prabhaa uchaarai |
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੰਗ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੫॥
taa ke raajaa sang bihaarai |5|
And whom so ever that Rani praised, Raja would play with her.(5)
ਯਾ ਮੈ ਕਹੋ ਕਹਾ ਘਟ ਗਈ ॥
yaa mai kaho kahaa ghatt gee |
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਹੋਹੂੰ ਭਿਟੋਅਨਿ ਭਈ ॥
jaanuk hohoon bhittoan bhee |
‘What do I lose in this (action of procuring the women)?I imagine I am engaging Raja myself.
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਰ ਰਾਵ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
jaa te mor raav sukh paavai |
ਵਹੈ ਬਾਤ ਹਮਰੇ ਜਿਯ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
vahai baat hamare jiy bhaavai |6|
‘Whatever action provides enjoyment to Raja, I honour it.’(6)
ਬਲੀ ਏਕ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
balee ek sundar lakh paayo |
ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਤਵਨ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਭਿਟਾਯੋ ॥
pratham tavan kee triyeh bhittaayo |
Once the Rani met a handsome man whose wife she introduced tothe Raja.
ਜਬ ਵਹੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਿ ਭਰਿਯੋ ॥
jab vahu purakh adhik ris bhariyo |
ਤਬ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਯੌ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਰਿਯੋ ॥੭॥
tab taa so yau bachan uchariyo |7|
Then she incited the man that his wife was revelling with the Raja,and taunted him of having no shame.(7)
