ਪਰਿਯੋ ਲੋਹ ਗਾੜੋ ਮਹਾ ਬੀਰ ਮਾਡੇ ॥

A great fight followed and powerful warriors confronted each other.
ਝੁਕੇ ਆਨਿ ਚਾਰੋ ਦਿਸਾ ਕਾਢਿ ਖਾਡੇ ॥
jhuke aan chaaro disaa kaadt khaadde |
From all four sides they converged.
ਛਕੇ ਛੋਭ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਹਾ ਘਾਇ ਮੇਲੈ ॥
chhake chhobh chhatree mahaa ghaae melai |
Furiously, many Kashatris inflicted injuries.
ਕਿਤੇ ਢਾਲਿ ਤਿਰਸੂਲ ਖਗਾਨ ਖੇਲੈ ॥੧੩॥

Primarily the arrows dominated, then the spears sparkled.

Then came the turn of the boxing, and the hands swung like steel.
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਕਾਤਰ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਭ ਕੀਨੇ ਇਕ ਸਾਰ ॥੧੭॥

The strong, the weak, the brave and the coward were becoming indistinguishable.( 17)

gaarr paree ih bhaat tahaa it sund ute apasund hakaaro |
The stampede was heightened as Sandh on the one side and Apsandh on the other stormed.
ਪਟਿਸਿ ਲੋਹਹਥੀ ਪਰਸੇ ਅਮਿਤਾਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਕੋਪ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
pattis lohahathee parase amitaayudh lai kar kop prahaare |
In great furry they raided each other with various arms.
ਰਾਜ ਪਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਤਾਜ ਹਿਰੇ ਤਰਫੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਬੀਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਨ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
raaj pare kahoon taaj hire tarafai kahoon beer kripaanan maare |
Dead Rajas along with their crowns were found lying down.
ਆਪਸ ਮੈ ਲਰਿ ਬੀਰ ਦੋਊ ਬਸਿ ਕਾਲ ਭਏ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥੧੯॥
aapas mai lar beer doaoo bas kaal bhe karataar sanghaare |19|
Punished by the Creator, the fighters from both sides had taken shelter under Kaal, the god of death.(19)

The intrepid fought among themselves and were killed with the arrows as hard as stones.
ਫੂਲ ਅਨੇਕ ਮੇਘ ਜ︀ਯੋ ਬਰਖੇ ॥
fool anek megh jayo barakhe |
ਦੇਵਰਾਜ ਦੇਵਨ ਜੁਤ ਹਰਖੇ ॥੨੦॥

The flowers started to pour from the heaven and the celestial gods felt the sighs of relief.(20)

After annihilating both the brothers, the woman left for Godly domain,
ਜੈ ਜੈਕਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਹੂਅ ਹਰਖੇ ਮਨ ਸੁਰ ਰਾਇ ॥੨੧॥
jai jaikaar apaar hooa harakhe man sur raae |21|
Gratitude were showered from everywhere and Devraj, the Almighty, was much appeased.(21)(1)

When the devils indulged in war, Devraj went to Indra’s house.
ਕਮਲ ਨਾਲਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਛਪਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥
kamal naal bheetar chhap rahiyo |
ਸਚਿਯਹਿ ਆਦਿ ਕਿਸੂ ਨਹਿ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥੧॥
sachiyeh aad kisoo neh lahiyo |1|
He (Indra) hid himself in the stem of the Sun-flower, and neither Sachee nor anybody else could see him(1)
ਬਾਸਵ ਕੌ ਖੋਜਨ ਸਭ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
baasav kau khojan sabh laage |
ਸਚੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਅਸੰਖ ਨੁਰਾਗੇ ॥
sachee samet asankh nuraage |
All, including Sachee, became apprehensive,
ਢੂੰਢਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
dtoondt fire kaahoon neh paayo |
ਦੇਵਨ ਅਮਿਤ ਸੋਕ ਉਪਜਾਯੋ ॥੨॥
devan amit sok upajaayo |2|
As, in spite of searching, he could not be found.(2)

ਬ੍ਰਹਸਪਤਿ ਕੌ ਬੋਲਿਯੋ ਤਬੈ ਸਭਹਿਨ ਕਿਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
brahasapat kau boliyo tabai sabhahin kiyo bichaar |
They all gathered and called Brahmaspati Supreme, the God,
ਖੋਜਿ ਥਕੇ ਪਾਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਕਹ ਗਯੋ ਅਦਿਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੩॥
khoj thake paayo nahee keh gayo adit kumaar |3|
And told Him that none of them could trace Indra.(3)
ਮਾਇ ਨ ਹੋਤੀ ਬਾਪੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਤੀ ਕਾਇਆ ॥
maae na hotee baap na hotaa karam na hotee kaaeaa |
When there was no mother and no father, no karma and no human body,
ਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਤੇ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
ham nahee hote tum nahee hote kavan kahaan te aaeaa |1|
when I was not and you were not, then who came from where? ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੇਰਾ ॥
raam koe na kis hee keraa |
O Lord, no one belongs to anyone else.
ਜੈਸੇ ਤਰਵਰਿ ਪੰਖਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaise taravar pankh baseraa |1| rahaau |
We are like birds perched on a tree. ||1||Pause||
ਚੰਦੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਸੂਰੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਪਾਨੀ ਪਵਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
chand na hotaa soor na hotaa paanee pavan milaaeaa |
When there was no moon and no sun, then water and air were blended together.
ਸਾਸਤੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਬੇਦੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
saasat na hotaa bed na hotaa karam kahaan te aaeaa |2|
When there were no Shaastras and no Vedas, then where did karma come from? ||2||
ਖੇਚਰ ਭੂਚਰ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
khechar bhoochar tulasee maalaa gur parasaadee paaeaa |
Control of the breath and positioning of the tongue, focusing at the third eye and wearing malas of tulsi beads, are all obtained through Guru's Grace.
ਨਾਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਪਰਮ ਤਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੋਇ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥੩॥
naamaa pranavai param tat hai satigur hoe lakhaaeaa |3|3|
Naam Dayv prays, this is the supreme essence of reality; the True Guru has inspired this realization. ||3||3||

ਬਾਨਾਰਸੀ ਤਪੁ ਕਰੈ ਉਲਟਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਰੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਦਹੈ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਲਪੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
baanaarasee tap karai ulatt teerath marai agan dahai kaaeaa kalap keejai |
Someone may practice austerities at Benares, or die upside-down at a sacred shrine of pilgrimage, or burn his body in fire, or rejuvenate his body to live almost forever;
ਅਸੁਮੇਧ ਜਗੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਸੋਨਾ ਗਰਭ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਿ ਤਊ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ॥੧॥
asumedh jag keejai sonaa garabh daan deejai raam naam sar taoo na poojai |1|
he may perform the horse-sacrifice ceremony, or give donations of gold covered over, but none of these is equal to the worship of the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਛੋਡਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਰੇ ਪਾਖੰਡੀ ਮਨ ਕਪਟੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
chhodd chhodd re paakhanddee man kapatt na keejai |
O hypocrite, renounce and abandon your hypocrisy; do not practice deception.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤਹਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kaa naam nit niteh leejai |1| rahaau |
Constantly, continually, chant the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਗੰਗਾ ਜਉ ਗੋਦਾਵਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁੰਭਿ ਜਉ ਕੇਦਾਰ ਨੑਾਈਐ ਗੋਮਤੀ ਸਹਸ ਗਊ ਦਾਨੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
gangaa jau godaavar jaaeeai kunbh jau kedaar naaeeai gomatee sehas gaoo daan keejai |
Someone may go to the Ganges or the Godaavari, or to the Kumbha festival, or bathe at Kaydaar Naat'h, or make donations of thousands of cows at Gomti;
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਉ ਤੀਰਥ ਕਰੈ ਤਨੁ ਜਉ ਹਿਵਾਲੇ ਗਾਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਿ ਤਊ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ॥੨॥
kott jau teerath karai tan jau hivaale gaarai raam naam sar taoo na poojai |2|
he may make millions of pilgrimages to sacred shrines, or freeze his body in the Himalayas; still, none of these is equal to the worship of the Lord's Name. ||2||
ਅਸੁ ਦਾਨ ਗਜ ਦਾਨ ਸਿਹਜਾ ਨਾਰੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਦਾਨ ਐਸੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤਹਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
as daan gaj daan sihajaa naaree bhoom daan aiso daan nit niteh keejai |
Someone may give away horses and elephants, or women on their beds, or land; he may give such gifts over and over again.
ਆਤਮ ਜਉ ਨਿਰਮਾਇਲੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਆਪ ਬਰਾਬਰਿ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਿ ਤਊ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ॥੩॥
aatam jau niramaaeil keejai aap baraabar kanchan deejai raam naam sar taoo na poojai |3|
He may purify his soul, and give away in charity his body weight in gold; none of these is equal to the worship of the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਮਨਹਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਰੋਸੁ ਜਮਹਿ ਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਦੋਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਪਦੁ ਚੀਨੑਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
maneh na keejai ros jameh na deejai dos niramal nirabaan pad cheena leejai |
Do not harbor anger in your mind, or blame the Messenger of Death; instead, realize the immaculate state of Nirvaanaa.
ਜਸਰਥ ਰਾਇ ਨੰਦੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦੁ ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਤਤੁ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੪॥
jasarath raae nand raajaa meraa raam chand pranavai naamaa tat ras amrit peejai |4|4|
My Sovereign Lord King is Raam Chandra, the Son of the King Dasrat'h; prays Naam Dayv, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||4||4||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਕੀ ॥

ਪੜੀਐ ਗੁਨੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਅਨਭਉ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਦਰਸੈ ॥
parreeai guneeai naam sabh suneeai anbhau bhaau na darasai |
They read and reflect upon all the Names of God; they listen, but they do not see the Lord, the embodiment of love and intuition.
ਲੋਹਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹਿਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਕੈਸੇ ਜਉ ਪਾਰਸਹਿ ਨ ਪਰਸੈ ॥੧॥
lohaa kanchan hiran hoe kaise jau paaraseh na parasai |1|
How can iron be transformed into gold, unless it touches the Philosopher's Stone? ||1||
ਦੇਵ ਸੰਸੈ ਗਾਂਠਿ ਨ ਛੂਟੈ ॥
dev sansai gaantth na chhoottai |
O Divine Lord, the knot of skepticism cannot be untied.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਇਨ ਪੰਚਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਲੂਟੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaam krodh maaeaa mad matasar in panchahu mil lootte |1| rahaau |
Sexual desire, anger, Maya, intoxication and jealousy - these five have combined to plunder the world. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਬਡ ਕਬਿ ਕੁਲੀਨ ਹਮ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹਮ ਜੋਗੀ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ॥
ham badd kab kuleen ham panddit ham jogee saniaasee |
I am a great poet, of noble heritage; I am a Pandit, a religious scholar, a Yogi and a Sannyaasi;
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਨੀ ਸੂਰ ਹਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਹ ਬੁਧਿ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਨਾਸੀ ॥੨॥
giaanee gunee soor ham daate ih budh kabeh na naasee |2|
I am a spiritual teacher, a warrior and a giver - such thinking never ends. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਸਭੈ ਨਹੀ ਸਮਝਸਿ ਭੂਲਿ ਪਰੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਉਰੇ ॥
kahu ravidaas sabhai nahee samajhas bhool pare jaise baure |
Says Ravi Daas, no one understands; they all run around, deluded like madmen.
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਨ ਮੋਰੇ ॥੩॥੧॥

The Lord's Name is my only Support; He is my life, my breath of life, my wealth. ||3||1||
