Maajh, Fourth Mehl:
ਆਵਹੁ ਭੈਣੇ ਤੁਸੀ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੀਆ ॥
aavahu bhaine tusee milahu piaareea |
Come, dear sisters-let us join together.
ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਦਸੇ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀਆ ॥
jo meraa preetam dase tis kai hau vaareea |
I am a sacrifice to the one who tells me of my Beloved.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਲਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਘੁਮਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
mil satasangat ladhaa har sajan hau satigur vittahu ghumaaeea jeeo |1|
Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I have found the Lord, my Best Friend. I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||1||
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
jeh jeh dekhaa teh teh suaamee |
Wherever I look, there I see my Lord and Master.
ਤੂ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
too ghatt ghatt raviaa antarajaamee |
You are permeating each and every heart, O Lord, Inner-knower, Searcher of Hearts.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਦਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
gur poorai har naal dikhaaliaa hau satigur vittahu sad vaariaa jeeo |2|
The Perfect Guru has shown me that the Lord is always with me. I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||2||
ਏਕੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਮਾਟੀ ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈਆ ॥
eko pavan maattee sabh ekaa sabh ekaa jot sabaaeea |
There is only one breath; all are made of the same clay; the light within all is the same.
ਸਭ ਇਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਨ ਰਲਈ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਰਲਾਈਆ ॥
sabh ikaa jot varatai bhin bhin na ralee kisai dee ralaaeea |
The One Light pervades all the many and various beings. This Light intermingles with them, but it is not diluted or obscured.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਇਕੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਤਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
gur parasaadee ik nadaree aaeaa hau satigur vittahu vataaeaa jeeo |3|
By Guru's Grace, I have come to see the One. I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||3||
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jan naanak bolai amrit baanee |
Servant Nanak speaks the Ambrosial Bani of the Word.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
gurasikhaan kai man piaaree bhaanee |
It is dear and pleasing to the minds of the GurSikhs.
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੭॥
aupades kare gur satigur pooraa gur satigur praupakaareea jeeo |4|7|
The Guru, the Perfect True Guru, shares the Teachings. The Guru, the True Guru, is Generous to all. ||4||7||
ਸਤ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਮਹਲੇ ਚਉਥੇ ਕੇ ॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl, Chau-Padhay, First House:
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਤਾਈ ॥
meraa man lochai gur darasan taaee |
My mind longs for the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.
ਬਿਲਪ ਕਰੇ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ॥
bilap kare chaatrik kee niaaee |
It cries out like the thirsty song-bird.
ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
trikhaa na utarai saant na aavai bin darasan sant piaare jeeo |1|
My thirst is not quenched, and I can find no peace, without the Blessed Vision of the Beloved Saint. ||1||
ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau gholee jeeo ghol ghumaaee gur darasan sant piaare jeeo |1| rahaau |
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to the Blessed Vision of the Beloved Saint Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਜੀਉ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
teraa mukh suhaavaa jeeo sehaj dhun baanee |
Your Face is so Beautiful, and the Sound of Your Words imparts intuitive wisdom.
ਚਿਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
chir hoaa dekhe saaringapaanee |
It is so long since this rainbird has had even a glimpse of water.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਦੇਸੁ ਜਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਵਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਜਣ ਮੀਤ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhan su des jahaa toon vasiaa mere sajan meet muraare jeeo |2|
Blessed is that land where You dwell, O my Friend and Intimate Divine Guru. ||2||
ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਹਉ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਜਣ ਮੀਤ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau gholee hau ghol ghumaaee gur sajan meet muraare jeeo |1| rahaau |
I am a sacrifice, I am forever a sacrifice, to my Friend and Intimate Divine Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਮਿਲਤੇ ਤਾ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
eik gharree na milate taa kalijug hotaa |
When I could not be with You for just one moment, the Dark Age of Kali Yuga dawned for me.
ਹੁਣਿ ਕਦਿ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
hun kad mileeai pria tudh bhagavantaa |
When will I meet You, O my Beloved Lord?
ਮੋਹਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਨ ਵਿਹਾਵੈ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
mohi rain na vihaavai need na aavai bin dekhe gur darabaare jeeo |3|
I cannot endure the night, and sleep does not come, without the Sight of the Beloved Guru's Court. ||3||
ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau gholee jeeo ghol ghumaaee tis sache gur darabaare jeeo |1| rahaau |
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to that True Court of the Beloved Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਭਾਗੁ ਹੋਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
bhaag hoaa gur sant milaaeaa |
By good fortune, I have met the Saint Guru.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
prabh abinaasee ghar meh paaeaa |
I have found the Immortal Lord within the home of my own self.
ਸੇਵ ਕਰੀ ਪਲੁ ਚਸਾ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
sev karee pal chasaa na vichhurraa jan naanak daas tumaare jeeo |4|
I will now serve You forever, and I shall never be separated from You, even for an instant. Servant Nanak is Your slave, O Beloved Master. ||4||
ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੧॥੮॥
hau gholee jeeo ghol ghumaaee jan naanak daas tumaare jeeo | rahaau |1|8|
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice; servant Nanak is Your slave, Lord. ||Pause||1||8||
