ਮਾਰਿ ਤਵਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਵ ਜੀ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਧਰਨਿ ਪਰ ਆਇ ॥
maar tavan ko raav jee pariyo dharan par aae |
After slaying, the Raja himself fell flat on the ground.
ਭ੍ਰਿਤਨ ਨਿਕਟ ਪਹੂੰਚਿ ਕੈ ਲਯੋ ਗਰੇ ਸੋ ਲਾਇ ॥੩੬॥
bhritan nikatt pahoonch kai layo gare so laae |36|
The servants ran forward and took him in their laps.(36)

ਐਸੋ ਹਾਲ ਚਾਕਰਨ ਭਯੋ ॥
aiso haal chaakaran bhayo |
ਜਨੁਕ ਧਨੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਧਨੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ॥
januk dhanee nridhanee hvai gayo |
Losing the Raja, servants felt like a wealthy-man becoming a pauper.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਦੈ ਕਹਾ ਧਾਮ ਹਮ ਜੈਹੈ ॥
nrip dai kahaa dhaam ham jaihai |
(They thought,) ‘After losing Raja, how can we go home and how
ਕਹਾ ਰਾਨਿਯਹਿ ਬਕਤ੍ਰ ਦਿਖੈ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
kahaa raaniyeh bakatr dikhai hai |37|
shall we show our faces to the Rani?’(37)
ਨਭ ਬਾਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਭਈ ॥
nabh baanee tin ko tab bhee |
ਭ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੁਧਿ ਕਹਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਗਈ ॥
bhrit sudh kahaa tumaaree gee |
Then they heard celestial utterance, ‘Where have you people lost your wits,
ਜੋਧਾ ਬਡੋ ਜੂਝਿ ਜਹ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
jodhaa baddo joojh jeh jaavai |
ਰਨ ਛਿਤ ਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੌਨ ਉਚਾਵੈ ॥੩੮॥
ran chhit te tin kauan uchaavai |38|
‘When a brave person passes away in a battle, who takes his body away?(38)

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਯਾ ਕੀ ਕਬਰ ਖਨਿ ਗਾਡਹੁ ਇਹੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
taa te yaa kee kabar khan gaaddahu ihee banaae |
‘Making hIs grave there, you bury him,
ਅਸ੍ਵ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਹੁ ਘਰ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੰਦੇਸੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੯॥
asv basatr lai jaahu ghar dehu sandeso jaae |39|
‘And take home his clothes and inform the people there.’(39)
ਬਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਗਾਡਿਯੋ ਤਿਸੈ ਭਏ ਪਵਨ ਭ੍ਰਿਤ ਭੇਸ ॥
baanee sun gaaddiyo tisai bhe pavan bhrit bhes |
After listening to this command from the heaven, they buried him there,
ਅਸ੍ਵ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਲਾਲ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਹਿ ਦਯੋ ਸੰਦੇਸ ॥੪੦॥
asv basatr lai laal ke baaleh dayo sandes |40|
And taking his flying-horse and clothes, they conveyed the message to his wife (Sassi Kala).(40)

ਬੈਠੀ ਬਾਲ ਜਹਾ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥

chit chor kee chitavan laagee |
Where the damsel was sitting with her friends in his remembrance,
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਖਬਰਿ ਚਾਕਰਨ ਦਈ ॥
tab lau khabar chaakaran dee |
ਅਰੁਨ ਹੁਤੀ ਪਿਯਰੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥੪੧॥
arun hutee piyaree hvai gee |41|
There came the servants and conveyed the message and she nearly fainted.( 41)

ਚੜਿ ਬਿਵਾਨ ਤਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਚਲੀ ਜਹਾ ਹਨ︀ਯੋ ਨਿਜੁ ਪੀਯ ॥

She travelled in a palanquin to the place where her lover had died.
ਕੈ ਲੈ ਐਹੌਂ ਪੀਯ ਕੌ ਕੈ ਤਹ ਦੈਹੌਂ ਜੀਯ ॥੪੨॥
kai lai aihauan peey kau kai teh daihauan jeey |42|
‘Either I will bring my husband back or I will renounce my soul there,’ she determined.(42)

ਚਲੀ ਚਲੀ ਅਬਲਾ ਤਹ ਆਈ ॥

ਦਾਬਿਯੋ ਜਹਾ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
daabiyo jahaa meet sukhadaaee |
Travelling and travelling, the destitute reached there where her companion was buried.
ਕਬਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਚਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਚਿਤ ਭਈ ॥
kabar nihaar chakrit chit bhee |
ਤਾਹੀ ਬਿਖੈ ਲੀਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥੪੩॥
taahee bikhai leen hvai gee |43|
She was taken aback on seeing the grave, and fully engrossed in his imagination, breathed her lost.(43)

ਮਰਨ ਸਭਨ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਡ ਪੈ ਸਫਲ ਮਰਨ ਹੈ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
maran sabhan ke moondd pai safal maran hai taeh |
Everyone is going to parish, bUt that death is worthwhile,
ਤਨਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਨ ਕੌ ਤਜੈ ਪਿਯ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੪੪॥
tanak bikhai tan kau tajai piy so preet banaae |44|
Which, in no time, is sacrificed in the memory of the loved one.( 44)
ਤਨ ਗਾਡਿਯੋ ਜਹ ਤੁਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਅੰਗ ਮਿਲਿਯੋ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥
tan gaaddiyo jeh tum mile ang miliyo sarabang |
By burying your body you make your limbs to meet his limbs,
ਸਭ ਕਛੁ ਤਜਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਯਾਰੇ ਸੰਗ ॥੪੫॥
sabh kachh taj grih ko chaliyo praan piyaare sang |45|
And then the soul meets the soul, relinquishing everything else.( 45)
ਪਵਨ ਪਵਨ ਆਨਲ ਅਨਲ ਨਭ ਨਭ ਭੂ ਭੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
pavan pavan aanal anal nabh nabh bhoo bhoo sang |
The way the wind amalgamates in the wind, fire blends into fire,
ਜਲ ਜਲ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਨੁ ਪਿਯ ਕੇ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥੪੬॥
jal jal ke sang mil rahiyo tan piy ke sarabang |46|
And through water they all intermingle and become one.(46)

ਪਿਯ ਹਿਤ ਦੇਹ ਤਵਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦਈ ॥
piy hit deh tavan triy dee |
ਦੇਵ ਲੋਕ ਭੀਤਰ ਲੈ ਗਈ ॥
dev lok bheetar lai gee |
For sake of her consort, she abandoned her body and the gods took her to the heaven.
ਅਰਧਾਸਨ ਬਾਸਵ ਤਿਹ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
aradhaasan baasav tih deeno |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੌ ਆਦਰੁ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੪੭॥
bhaat bhaat sau aadar keeno |47|
Lord Indra received her honourably and offered her half of her sovereign ty.(47)

ਦੇਵ ਬਧੂਨ ਅਪਛਰਨ ਲਯੋ ਬਿਵਾਨ ਚੜਾਇ ॥
dev badhoon apachharan layo bivaan charraae |
The gods and goddesses put her in a palanquin,
ਜੈ ਜੈਕਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਹੁਅ ਹਰਖੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਰ ਰਾਇ ॥੪੮॥
jai jaikaar apaar hua harakhe sun sur raae |48|
And raised slogans in every domain in her appreciation, hearing which Lord Indra was appeased too.( 48)
ਮਛਰੀ ਔ ਬਿਰਹੀਨ ਕੇ ਬਧ ਕੋ ਕਹਾ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
machharee aau biraheen ke badh ko kahaa upaae |
Taking the example of the fish and water,
ਜਲ ਪਿਯ ਤੇ ਬਿਛੁਰਾਇ ਯਹਿ ਤਨਿਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੪੯॥
jal piy te bichhuraae yeh tanik bikhai mar jaae |49|
It is said that the wife, a fish, after relinquishing husband, the water, soon parishes.(49)
ਪਾਪ ਨਰਕ ਤੇ ਨ ਡਰੀ ਕਰੀ ਸਵਤਿ ਕੀ ਕਾਨਿ ॥
paap narak te na ddaree karee savat kee kaan |
The co-wife did not fear the celestial wrath,
ਅਤਿ ਚਿਤ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਇ ਕੈ ਪਿਯ ਲਗਵਾਯੋ ਬਾਨ ॥੫੦॥
at chit kop badtaae kai piy lagavaayo baan |50|
And, getting angry, had got her husband killed with an arrow.(50)

First Mehl:
ਸੋ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਉਲਟੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
so bairaagee ji ulatte braham |
He alone is a Bairaagi, who turns himself toward God.
ਗਗਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਰੋਪੈ ਥੰਮੁ ॥
gagan manddal meh ropai tham |
In the Tenth Gate, the sky of the mind, he erects his pillar.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਹੈ ਧਿਆਨਿ ॥
ahinis antar rahai dhiaan |
Night and day, he remains in deep inner meditation.
ਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸਤ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥
te bairaagee sat samaan |
Such a Bairaagi is just like the True Lord.
ਬੋਲੈ ਭਰਥਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ॥
bolai bharathar sat saroop |
Says Bhart'har, God is the embodiment of Truth;
ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤ ਮਹਿ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੂਪੁ ॥੬॥
param tant meh rekh na roop |6|
the supreme essence of reality has no shape or form. ||6||

ਕਿਉ ਮਰੈ ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵੈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥
kiau marai mandaa kiau jeevai jugat |
How is evil eradicated? How can the true way of life be found?
ਕੰਨ ਪੜਾਇ ਕਿਆ ਖਾਜੈ ਭੁਗਤਿ ॥
kan parraae kiaa khaajai bhugat |
What is the use of piercing the ears, or begging for food?
ਆਸਤਿ ਨਾਸਤਿ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
aasat naasat eko naau |
Throughout existence and non-existence, there is only the Name of the One Lord.
ਕਉਣੁ ਸੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਹਿਆਉ ॥
kaun su akhar jit rahai hiaau |
What is that Word, which holds the heart in its place?
ਧੂਪ ਛਾਵ ਜੇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਸਹੈ ॥
dhoop chhaav je sam kar sahai |
When you look alike upon sunshine and shade,
ਤਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ॥
taa naanak aakhai gur ko kahai |
says Nanak, then the Guru will speak to you.
ਛਿਅ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਪੂਤ ॥
chhia varataare varateh poot |
The students follow the six systems.
ਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਨਾ ਅਉਧੂਤ ॥
naa sansaaree naa aaudhoot |
They are neither worldly people, nor detached renunciates.
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਿ ਜੋ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
nirankaar jo rahai samaae |
One who remains absorbed in the Formless Lord
ਕਾਹੇ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਮੰਗਣਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
kaahe bheekhiaa mangan jaae |7|
- why should he go out begging? ||7||

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸੋਈ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿਥਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
har mandar soee aakheeai jithahu har jaataa |
That alone is said to be the Lord's temple, where the Lord is known.
ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
maanas deh gur bachanee paaeaa sabh aatam raam pachhaataa |
In the human body, the Guru's Word is found, when one understands that the Lord, the Supreme Soul, is in all.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਖੋਜੀਐ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
baahar mool na khojeeai ghar maeh bidhaataa |
Don't look for Him outside your self. The Creator, the Architect of Destiny, is within the home of your own heart.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨੀ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਤਾ ॥
manamukh har mandar kee saar na jaananee tinee janam gavaataa |
The self-willed manmukh does not appreciate the value of the Lord's temple; they waste away and lose their lives.
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੨॥
sabh meh ik varatadaa gurasabadee paaeaa jaaee |12|
The One Lord is pervading in all; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He can be found. ||12||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Salok, Third Mehl:
ਮੂਰਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਾ ਕਹਣਾ ॥
moorakh hovai so sunai moorakh kaa kahanaa |
Only a fool listens to the words of the fool.
ਮੂਰਖ ਕੇ ਕਿਆ ਲਖਣ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਾ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
moorakh ke kiaa lakhan hai kiaa moorakh kaa karanaa |
What are the signs of the fool? What does the fool do?
ਮੂਰਖੁ ਓਹੁ ਜਿ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਹੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੇ ਮਰਣਾ ॥
moorakh ohu ji mugadh hai ahankaare maranaa |
A fool is stupid; he dies of egotism.
ਏਤੁ ਕਮਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
et kamaanai sadaa dukh dukh hee meh rahanaa |
His actions always bring him pain; he lives in pain.
ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪਵੈ ਖੂਹਿ ਕਿਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
at piaaraa pavai khoohi kihu sanjam karanaa |
If someone's beloved friend falls into the pit, what can be used to pull him out?
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਓਸੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੋ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
guramukh hoe su kare veechaar os alipato rahanaa |
One who becomes Gurmukh contemplates the Lord, and remains detached.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਆਪਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਓਸੁ ਪਿਛੈ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਭੀ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
har naam japai aap udharai os pichhai ddubade bhee taranaa |
Chanting the Lord's Name, he saves himself, and he carries across those who are drowning as well.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਸਹਣਾ ॥੧॥
naanak jo tis bhaavai so kare jo dee su sahanaa |1|
O Nanak, he acts in accordance with the Will of God; he endures whatever he is given. ||1||

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਸਿਖ ਸਹੀ ॥
naanak aakhai re manaa suneeai sikh sahee |
Says Nanak, listen, O mind, to the True Teachings.
ਲੇਖਾ ਰਬੁ ਮੰਗੇਸੀਆ ਬੈਠਾ ਕਢਿ ਵਹੀ ॥
lekhaa rab mangeseea baitthaa kadt vahee |
Opening His ledger, God will call you to account.
ਤਲਬਾ ਪਉਸਨਿ ਆਕੀਆ ਬਾਕੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਰਹੀ ॥
talabaa pausan aakeea baakee jinaa rahee |
Those rebels who have unpaid accounts shall be called out.
ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁ ਫਰੇਸਤਾ ਹੋਸੀ ਆਇ ਤਈ ॥
ajaraaeel faresataa hosee aae tee |
Azraa-eel, the Angel of Death, shall be appointed to punish them.
ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਭੀੜੀ ਗਲੀ ਫਹੀ ॥
aavan jaan na sujhee bheerree galee fahee |
They will find no way to escape coming and going in reincarnation; they are trapped in the narrow path.
ਕੂੜ ਨਿਖੁਟੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਓੜਕਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੀ ॥੨॥
koorr nikhutte naanakaa orrak sach rahee |2|
Falsehood will come to an end, O Nanak, and Truth will prevail in the end. ||2||

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੈ ॥
har kaa sabh sareer hai har rav rahiaa sabh aapai |
The body and everything belongs to the Lord; the Lord Himself is all-pervading.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
har kee keemat naa pavai kichh kehan na jaapai |
The Lord's value cannot be estimated; nothing can be said about it.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਾਪੈ ॥
gur parasaadee saalaaheeai har bhagatee raapai |
By Guru's Grace, one praises the Lord, imbued with feelings of devotion.
ਸਭੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਗਵਾਪੈ ॥
sabh man tan hariaa hoeaa ahankaar gavaapai |
The mind and body are totally rejuvenated, and egotism is eradicated.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਸੈ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧੩॥
sabh kichh har kaa khel hai guramukh kisai bujhaaee |13|
Everything is the play of the Lord. The Gurmukh understands this. ||13||

Salok, First Mehl:
ਸਹੰਸਰ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਰੋਆਇਆ ॥
sahansar daan de indru roaaeaa |
Branded with a thousand marks of disgrace, Indra cried in shame.
ਪਰਸ ਰਾਮੁ ਰੋਵੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
paras raam rovai ghar aaeaa |
Paras Raam returned home crying.
ਅਜੈ ਸੁ ਰੋਵੈ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਖਾਇ ॥
ajai su rovai bheekhiaa khaae |
Ajai cried and wept, when he was made to eat the manure he had given, pretending it was charity.
ਐਸੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
aisee daragah milai sajaae |
Such is the punishment received in the Court of the Lord.
ਰੋਵੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਭਇਆ ॥
rovai raam nikaalaa bheaa |
Rama wept when he was sent into exile,
ਸੀਤਾ ਲਖਮਣੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
seetaa lakhaman vichhurr geaa |
and separated from Sita and Lakhshman.
ਰੋਵੈ ਦਹਸਿਰੁ ਲੰਕ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
rovai dahasir lank gavaae |
The ten-headed Raawan, who stole away Sita with the beat of his tambourine,
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੀਤਾ ਆਦੀ ਡਉਰੂ ਵਾਇ ॥
jin seetaa aadee ddauroo vaae |
Wept when he lost Sri Lanka.
ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਾਂਡਵ ਭਏ ਮਜੂਰ ॥
roveh paanddav bhe majoor |
The Paandavas once lived in the Presence of the Lord;
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਤ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
jin kai suaamee rehat hadoor |
They were made slaves, and wept.
ਰੋਵੈ ਜਨਮੇਜਾ ਖੁਇ ਗਇਆ ॥
rovai janamejaa khue geaa |
Janmayjaa wept, that he had lost his way.
ਏਕੀ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪਾਪੀ ਭਇਆ ॥

One mistake, and he became a sinner.
ਰੋਵਹਿ ਸੇਖ ਮਸਾਇਕ ਪੀਰ ॥
roveh sekh masaaeik peer |
The Shaykhs, Pirs and spiritual teachers weep;
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਮਤੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਭੀੜ ॥
ant kaal mat laagai bheerr |
at the very last instant, they suffer in agony.
ਰੋਵਹਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੰਨ ਪੜਾਇ ॥
roveh raaje kan parraae |
The kings weep - their ears are cut;
ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
ghar ghar maageh bheekhiaa jaae |
they go begging from house to house.
ਰੋਵਹਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
roveh kirapan sancheh dhan jaae |
The miser weeps; he has to leave behind the wealth he has gathered.
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
panddit roveh giaan gavaae |
The Pandit, the religious scholar, weeps when his learning is gone.
ਬਾਲੀ ਰੋਵੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥
baalee rovai naeh bhataar |
The young woman weeps because she has no husband.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
naanak dukheea sabh sansaar |
O Nanak, the whole world is suffering.
ਮੰਨੇ ਨਾਉ ਸੋਈ ਜਿਣਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
mane naau soee jin jaae |
He alone is victorious, who believes in the Lord's Name.
ਅਉਰੀ ਕਰਮ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
aauree karam na lekhai laae |1|
No other action is of any account. ||1||
