“Then, there will descend the celestial renderings,
ਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਸਤਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਯੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਪਹੁਚ︀ਯੋ ਆਇ ॥੫੬॥
tab tum sat pachhaaniyo jogee pahuchayo aae |56|
“Through which you will acknowledge the God-seeking Yogi.”(56)

Rani built a mansion in the jungle and constructed an alcove in there,
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੇ ਮਨੁਖ ਛਪਿ ਰਹੈ ॥
jaa ke bikhe manukh chhap rahai |
ਜੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਕਹੈ ॥੫੭॥
jo chaahai chit mai so kahai |57|
Behind which a man could hide and where he could do whatever he liked.(57)
ਬੈਠੇ ਤਰੇ ਨਜਰਿ ਨਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
baitthe tare najar neh aavai |
ਬਾਨੀ ਨਭ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਲਖਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
baanee nabh hee kee lakh jaavai |
The person sitting beneath could not see him and his voice would seem as an articulation from heaven.

ਅਮਿਤ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਸਿਖਾਯੋ ॥੫੮॥

Rani asked a man to sit in there, and, with the incentive of lot of wealth, she trained him.(58)

In his profile he looked as if he was in the guise of Yogi.(59)

She told him, ‘Acting like a yogi, you make Raja to understand,
ਕ︀ਯੋ ਹੂੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਮੋਰਿ ਘਰ ਲ︀ਯਾਵਹੁ ॥
kayo hoon nripeh mor ghar layaavahu |
ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਮੁਖ ਮਾਗਹੁ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੬੦॥
jo kachh mukh maagahu so paavahu |60|
‘And bring him round to come home and you will get whatever you desire.’(60)

ਜਬ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਐਸੋ ਬਚਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥

When Rani had called him and asked him to talk like that,
ਚਤੁਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਗੇ ਹੁਤੋ ਸਕਲ ਭੇਦ ਗਯੋ ਪਾਇ ॥੬੧॥
chatur purakh aage huto sakal bhed gayo paae |61|
He, being a clever man, comprehended all the secret.(61)

Then the Rani came to the Raja and got two coffins prepared.
ਇਕ ਤੁਮ ਧਰੋ ਏਕ ਹੌ ਧਰਿ ਹੋ ॥
eik tum dharo ek hau dhar ho |
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਤਪਸ︀ਯਾ ਕਰਿਹੋ ॥੬੨॥
tumare sang tapasayaa kariho |62|
‘You wear one and other I will. I will go in for meditation with you.’(62)

ਜੋ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਬਾਤੈ ਕਰੀ ਸੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਕਹੋ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੬੩॥
jo taa so baatai karee so tuhi kaho sunaae |63|
‘Whatever he had talked, you let me know.’(63)

ਹੈ ਬਨ ਕੋ ਬਸਿਬੋ ਦੁਖ ਕੋ ਕਹੁ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤੂ ਸੰਗ ਕਯੋਂ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਹੈ ॥
hai ban ko basibo dukh ko kahu sundar too sang kayon nibahai hai |
‘’Aye, Pretty Woman, to live in the jungle is very wearisome, how would you tolerate?
ਸੀਤ ਤੁਸਾਰ ਪਰੈ ਤਨ ਪੈ ਸੁ ਇਤੋ ਤਬ ਤੌ ਹਠਹੂੰ ਨ ਗਹੈ ਹੈ ॥
seet tusaar parai tan pai su ito tab tau hatthahoon na gahai hai |
“There you will have to bear on your body all sort of cold and heat, how would you survive that?
ਸਾਲ ਤਮਾਲ ਬਡੇ ਜਹ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਤਿਨੈ ਬਹੁਧਾ ਬਿਲਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
saal tamaal badde jeh brayaal nihaal tinai bahudhaa bilalai hai |
“There exist the reptiles as big as the trees, looking at them, you will cry,
ਤੂ ਸੁਕਮਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਸੁ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਤੁਹਿ ਕੌਨ ਉਠੈ ਹੈ ॥੬੪॥
too sukamaar karee karataar su haar pare tuhi kauan utthai hai |64|
“There prevails extreme drought, if you ever fell down, who will help you to get up.”(64)

ਸੀਤ ਸਮੀਰ ਸਹੌ ਤਨ ਪੈ ਸੁਨੁ ਨਾਥ ਤੁਮੈ ਅਬ ਛਾਡਿ ਨ ਜੈਹੋ ॥
seet sameer sahau tan pai sun naath tumai ab chhaadd na jaiho |
‘Listen my master, I will bear the cold winds on my body but will not leave you,
ਸਾਲ ਤਮਾਲ ਬਡੇ ਜਹ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਤਿਨੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਡਰ ਪੈਹੋ ॥
saal tamaal badde jeh brayaal nihaal tinai kachh na ddar paiho |
‘Seeing the reptiles as tall as trees, I will be dreaded.
ਰਾਜ ਤਜੋ ਸਜ ਸਾਜ ਤਪੋ ਧਨ ਲਾਜ ਧਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧੈਹੋ ॥
raaj tajo saj saaj tapo dhan laaj dhare prabh sang sidhaiho |
‘Abandoning the reigning, and the wealth I will accompany you to gain contemplation.
ਬਾਤ ਇਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਗਾਤ ਸਹੋ ਬਨ ਨਾਯਕ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਪਾਤ ਚਬੈਹੋ ॥੬੫॥
baat ihai dukh gaat saho ban naayak ke sang paat chabaiho |65|
‘I won’t hesitate to bear all the miseries, and, even, would live on the leaves.’(65)

‘You better look after the dominion and remember your master every
ਸੁਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਕੀਜਿਯਹੁ ਬਚਨ ਧਾਰਿਯਹੁ ਚਿਤ ॥੬੬॥
sut sevaa nit keejiyahu bachan dhaariyahu chit |66|
Day, ‘Complying with my entreaty, you look after your sons.’(66)

‘I am relinquishing the governance and by leaving all this I do not even fancy the god Indra’s domain.
ਅਸ੍ਵ ਪਦਾਤੁ ਬਨੈ ਬਨ ਬਾਰੁਣ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੌ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾਈ ॥
asv padaat banai ban baarun chaahat hau na kachhoo prabhataaee |
‘The horses, elephants, and foot soldiers, which are trustworthy, I do not conceive.
ਬਾਲਕ ਬਾਰ ਤਜੇ ਬਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਜੋ ਅਸੁਰਾਰਿ ਯਹੈ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥
baalak baar taje bar naar tajo asuraar yahai tthaharaaee |
‘I am leaving the boys, the girls and the wife along with all their skirmishes.
ਜਾਇ ਬਸੋ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋ ਸੁਨੁ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਆਜੁ ਇਹੈ ਮਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੬੭॥
jaae baso ban mai sukh so sun sundar aaj ihai man bhaaee |67|
‘Listen, the pretty lady, I will go and dwell in the jungle, and attain the bliss, and this I like it very much.’(67)

jat sat sanjam saach drirraaeaa saach sabad ras leenaa |1|
Abstinence, chastity, self-control and truthfulness have been implanted within me; I am imbued with the sublime essence of the True Word of the Shabad. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਲੀਣਾ ॥
meraa gur deaal sadaa rang leenaa |
My Merciful Guru remains forever imbued with the Lord's Love.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਹੈ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਤੀਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ahinis rahai ek liv laagee saache dekh pateenaa |1| rahaau |
Day and night, He remains lovingly focused on the One Lord; gazing upon the True Lord, He is pleased. ||1||Pause||
ਰਹੈ ਗਗਨ ਪੁਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਮੈਸਰਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਰੰਗੀਣਾ ॥੨॥
rahai gagan pur drisatt samaisar anahat sabad rangeenaa |2|
He abides in the Tenth Gate, and looks equally upon all; He is imbued with the unstruck sound current of the Shabad. ||2||
ਸਤੁ ਬੰਧਿ ਕੁਪੀਨ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਸੀਣਾ ॥੩॥
sat bandh kupeen bharipur leenaa jihavaa rang raseenaa |3|
Wearing the loin-cloth of chastity, He remains absorbed in the all-pervading Lord; His tongue enjoys the taste of God's Love. ||3||
ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚੁ ਰਾਚੇ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਪਤੀਣਾ ॥੪॥
milai gur saache jin rach raache kirat veechaar pateenaa |4|
The One who created the creation has met the True Guru; contemplating the Guru's lifestyle, He is pleased. ||4||
ਏਕ ਮਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਏਕਾ ਏਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੫॥
ek meh sarab sarab meh ekaa eeh satigur dekh dikhaaee |5|
All are in the One, and the One is in all. This is what the True Guru has shown me. ||5||
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਖਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੬॥
jin kee khandd manddal brahamanddaa so prabh lakhan na jaaee |6|
He who created the worlds, solar systems and galaxies - that God cannot be known. ||6||
ਦੀਪਕ ਤੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੭॥
deepak te deepak paragaasiaa tribhavan jot dikhaaee |7|
From the lamp of God, the lamp within is lit; the Divine Light illuminates the three worlds. ||7||
ਸਚੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਸਚ ਮਹਲੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ॥੮॥
sachai takhat sach mahalee baitthe nirbhau taarree laaee |8|
The Guru sits on the true throne in the true mansion; He is attuned, absorbed in the Fearless Lord. ||8||
ਮੋਹਿ ਗਇਆ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਾਈ ॥੯॥
mohi geaa bairaagee jogee ghatt ghatt kinguree vaaee |9|
The Guru, the detached Yogi, has enticed the hearts of all; He plays His harp in each and every heart. ||9||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੀ ਛੂਟੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਚੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧੦॥੮॥
naanak saran prabhoo kee chhootte satigur sach sakhaaee |10|8|
O Nanak, in God's Sanctuary, one is emancipated; the True Guru becomes our true help and support. ||10||8||

aauhatth hasat marree ghar chhaaeaa dharan gagan kal dhaaree |1|
He has made His home in the monastery of the heart; He has infused His power into the earth and the sky. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੇਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਧਾਰੀ ਸੰਤਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Through the Word of the Shabad, the Gurmukhs have saved so very many, O Saints. ||1||Pause||
ਮਮਤਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੋਖੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
mamataa maar haumai sokhai tribhavan jot tumaaree |2|
He conquers attachment, and eradicates egotism, and sees Your Divine Light pervading the three worlds, Lord. ||2||
ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
manasaa maar manai meh raakhai satigur sabad veechaaree |3|
He conquers desire, and enshrines the Lord within his mind; he contemplates the Word of the True Guru's Shabad. ||3||
ਸਿੰਙੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਅਨਾਹਦਿ ਵਾਜੈ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
singee surat anaahad vaajai ghatt ghatt jot tumaaree |4|
The horn of consciousness vibrates the unstruck sound current; Your Light illuminates each and every heart, Lord. ||4||
ਪਰਪੰਚ ਬੇਣੁ ਤਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਗਨਿ ਪਰਜਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
parapanch ben tahee man raakhiaa braham agan parajaaree |5|
He plays the flute of the universe in his mind, and lights the fire of God. ||5||
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
panch tat mil ahinis deepak niramal jot apaaree |6|
Bringing together the five elements, day and night, the Lord's lamp shines with the Immaculate Light of the Infinite. ||6||
ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਲਉਕੇ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
rav sas lauke ihu tan kinguree vaajai sabad niraaree |7|
The right and left nostrils, the sun and the moon channels, are the strings of the body-harp; they vibrate the wondrous melody of the Shabad. ||7||
ਸਿਵ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਅਉਧੂ ਅਲਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥੮॥
siv nagaree meh aasan aaudhoo alakh agam apaaree |8|
The true hermit obtains a seat in the City of God, the invisible, inaccessible, infinite. ||8||
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਪੰਚ ਵਸਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੯॥
kaaeaa nagaree ihu man raajaa panch vaseh veechaaree |9|
The mind is the king of the city of the body; the five sources of knowledge dwell within it. ||9||
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਵੈ ਆਸਣਿ ਘਰਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਦਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੦॥
sabad ravai aasan ghar raajaa adal kare gunakaaree |10|
Seated in his home, this king chants the Shabad; he administers justice and virtue. ||10||
ਕਾਲੁ ਬਿਕਾਲੁ ਕਹੇ ਕਹਿ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਜੀਵਤ ਮੂਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੧੧॥
kaal bikaal kahe keh bapure jeevat mooaa man maaree |11|
What can poor death or birth say to him? Conquering his mind, he remains dead while yet alive. ||11||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸ ਇਕ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੨॥
brahamaa bisan mahes ik moorat aape karataa kaaree |12|
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are manifestations of the One God. He Himself is the Doer of deeds. ||12||
ਕਾਇਆ ਸੋਧਿ ਤਰੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਆਤਮ ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੩॥
kaaeaa sodh tarai bhav saagar aatam tat veechaaree |13|
One who purifies his body, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean; he contemplates the essence of his own soul. ||13||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੪॥
gur sevaa te sadaa sukh paaeaa antar sabad raviaa gunakaaree |14|
Serving the Guru, he finds everlasting peace; deep within, the Shabad permeates him, coloring him with virtue. ||14||
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੧੫॥
aape mel le gunadaataa haumai trisanaa maaree |15|
The Giver of virtue unites with Himself, one who conquers egotism and desire. ||15||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਟੇ ਚਉਥੈ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ॥੧੬॥
trai gun mette chauthai varatai ehaa bhagat niraaree |16|
Eradicating the three qualities, dwell in the fourth state. This is the unparalleled devotional worship. ||16||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਗ ਸਬਦਿ ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੧੭॥
guramukh jog sabad aatam cheenai hiradai ek muraaree |17|
This is the Yoga of the Gurmukh: Through the Shabad, he understands his own soul, and he enshrines within his heart the One Lord. ||17||
ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੧੮॥
manooaa asathir sabade raataa ehaa karanee saaree |18|
Imbued with the Shabad, his mind becomes steady and stable; this is the most excellent action. ||18||
ਬੇਦੁ ਬਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਅਉਧੂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੯॥
bed baad na paakhandd aaudhoo guramukh sabad beechaaree |19|
This true hermit does not enter into religious debates or hypocrisy; the Gurmukh contemplates the Shabad. ||19||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਅਉਧੂ ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੦॥
guramukh jog kamaavai aaudhoo jat sat sabad veechaaree |20|
The Gurmukh practices Yoga - he is the true hermit; he practices abstinence and truth, and contemplates the Shabad. ||20||
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਅਉਧੂ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੧॥
sabad marai man maare aaudhoo jog jugat veechaaree |21|
One who dies in the Shabad and conquers his mind is the true hermit; he understands the Way of Yoga. ||21||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਹੈ ਅਵਧੂ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੈ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੨੨॥
maaeaa mohu bhavajal hai avadhoo sabad tarai kul taaree |22|
Attachment to Maya is the terrifying world-ocean; through the Shabad, the true hermit saves himself, and his ancestors as well. ||22||
ਸਬਦਿ ਸੂਰ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਅਉਧੂ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥
sabad soor jug chaare aaudhoo baanee bhagat veechaaree |23|
Contemplating the Shabad, you shall be a hero throughout the four ages, O hermit; contemplate the Word of the Guru's Bani in devotion. ||23||
ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਅਉਧੂ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥
ehu man maaeaa mohiaa aaudhoo nikasai sabad veechaaree |24|
This mind is enticed by Maya, O hermit; contemplating the Shabad, you shall find release. ||24||
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨੫॥੯॥
aape bakhase mel milaae naanak saran tumaaree |25|9|
He Himself forgives, and unites in His Union; Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||25||9||
