ਆਪੁ ਜੂਤਿਯਨ ਜੁਰਿ ਗਈ ਰਹੀ ਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ॥
aap jootiyan jur gee rahee na taeh sanbhaar |
She got involved in hitting with the slipper and he lost his senses too.
ਐਸੋ ਚਰਿਤ ਬਨਾਇ ਕੈ ਬਾਕੋ ਦਯੋ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ॥੫॥
aiso charit banaae kai baako dayo nikaar |5|
With such duplicity, she enabled the lover to escape.(5)
ਅਤਿ ਚਿਤ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਇ ਕੈ ਤਪਤ ਤਾਬ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਨੈਨ ॥
at chit kop badtaae kai tapat taabr kar nain |
By making the face look furious,
ਬਿਕਟ ਬਿਕ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਆਪਨੋ ਕਹੈ ਬਨਕਿ ਸੋ ਬੈਨ ॥੬॥
bikatt bikr kar aapano kahai banak so bain |6|
And with eyes wildly open, she said to the Shah (6)

ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲੋਨ ਖੈਯੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਛੋਰਿ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਜੈਯੈ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲੋਨ ਖੈਯੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਆਗੇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਜੂਝਿਯੈ ॥
jaa ko lon khaiyai taa ko chhor kabahoon na jaiyai jaa ko lon khaiyai taa ko aage hvai kai joojhiyai |
‘Who-so-ever’s salt you eat, never abandon him, ‘Who-so-ever’s salt you eat, you should, even, sacrifice your life. ‘Who-so-ever’s salt you eat, never cheat him.
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲੋਨ ਖੈਯੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦਗਾ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਦੈਯੈ ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੈਯੈ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਸਾਚਹੂੰ ਕੋ ਲੂਝਿਯੈ ॥
jaa ko lon khaiyai taa ko dagaa kabahoon na daiyai saachee sun laiyai taa sau saachahoon ko loojhiyai |
‘Listen to this truth I am stressing, you better, even, die for him. ‘Never commit theft, and if the master gives, it should be equally distributed. .
ਚੋਰੀ ਨ ਕਮੈਯੈ ਆਪੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਭੀ ਬਾਟਿ ਖੈਯੈ ਝੂਠ ਨ ਬਨੈਯੈ ਕਛੂ ਲੈਬੇ ਕੌ ਨ ਰੂਝਿਯੈ ॥
choree na kamaiyai aap devai so bhee baatt khaiyai jhootth na banaiyai kachhoo laibe kau na roojhiyai |
‘Never tell lies, and to achieve something, one should not become greedy.
ਰੋਸ ਨ ਬਢੈਯੈ ਬੁਰੀ ਭਾਖੈ ਸੋ ਭੀ ਮਾਨਿ ਲੈਯੈ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਮੈਯੈ ਨਾਥ ਮੋਰੀ ਬਾਤ ਬੂਝਿਯੈ ॥੭॥
ros na badtaiyai buree bhaakhai so bhee maan laiyai chaakaree kamaiyai naath moree baat boojhiyai |7|
Never get angry, even if master rebukes, one should accept. ‘Listen, my beloved, you must perform Your service humbtly.’(7)

ਬਨਿਯੈ ਜੂਤੀ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੀਖ ਲਈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
baniyai jootee khaae kai seekh lee man maeh |
The Shah learnt the lesson after getting beating with slippers,
ਕਹ ਸ︀ਯਾਨੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਗਯੋ ਭੇਦ ਪਛਾਨ︀ਯੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੮॥
keh sayaanee triy grih gayo bhed pachhaanayo naeh |8|
And without discerning the trickery, he went away from the house.(8)(1)

ਚੋਰ ਏਕ ਚਤੁਰੋ ਰਹੈ ਬੈਰਮ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਵ ॥
chor ek chaturo rahai bairam taa ko naav |
There was a thief whose name was Bairam.
ਜਾਤ ਸੇਖਜਾਦੋ ਰਹੈ ਬਸੈ ਕਾਲਪੀ ਗਾਵ ॥੧॥
jaat sekhajaado rahai basai kaalapee gaav |1|
By caste he was a sheikh and used to live in the village of Kaalpi.( 1)

ਚੌ ਚੋਬਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥

ਆਪਨ ਕੋ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਕਹਾਯੋ ॥
aapan ko umaraav kahaayo |
He adorned four tier clothes and posed himself as an aristocrat (and he announced),
ਮੈ ਹਜਰਤਿ ਤੇ ਮਨਸਬ ਲਯੋ ॥
mai hajarat te manasab layo |
ਪਲਵਲ ਦੇਸ ਪਰਗਨਾ ਭਯੋ ॥੨॥
palaval des paraganaa bhayo |2|
‘The Raja has granted me an honour and (the territory of) Palwal is my protectorate.(2)

ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਛੁ ਉਪਚਾਰੁ ਕੋ ਕੀਜੈ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
taa ke kachh upachaar ko keejai hridai bichaar |
‘That is why I am going to undertake some welfare work,
ਤਹਾ ਚਲਨ ਕੋ ਸਾਜੁ ਸਭ ਲੀਜੈ ਮੋਲ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
tahaa chalan ko saaj sabh leejai mol sudhaar |3|
‘And to perform the task, I will have to act in good manners.’

ਸਕਲ ਗਾਵ ਕੇ ਬਨਿਕ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥

ਸੌ ਕੁ ਰੁਪੈਯਾ ਤਿਨ ਚਟਵਾਏ ॥
sau ku rupaiyaa tin chattavaae |
He called all the people of the village and to entertain them he spent about one hundred rupees.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤ︀ਯਾਰ ਸਾਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
kahiyo tayaar saaj kar deejai |
ਅਬ ਹੀ ਰੋਕ ਰੁਪੈਯਾ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
ab hee rok rupaiyaa leejai |4|
He asked them to get ready and arrange some money.

ਰੋਕ ਰੁਪੈਯਨ ਖਰਚਿ ਕੈ ਲੀਜੈ ਮੁਹਰ ਬਟਾਇ ॥
rok rupaiyan kharach kai leejai muhar battaae |
He had intended to collect the rupees and then convert them into goldcoins,
ਭਰ ਬਰਦਾਰੀ ਕੋ ਘਨੋ ਖਰਚਨ ਹੋਇ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੫॥
bhar baradaaree ko ghano kharachan hoe banaae |5|
So that the high expenses could be met.(5)

ਜੋ ਤਿਨ ਕਹੀ ਸੁ ਬਨਿਕਨ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
jo tin kahee su banikan maanee |
ਕਛੂ ਸੰਕ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਨ ਆਨੀ ॥
kachhoo sank chit beech na aanee |
The Shah acted the way he was asked, he did not get any doubt in his mind,
ਮੁਹਰੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਆਨਿ ਕਰ ਦਈ ॥
muharai adhik aan kar dee |
ਤਸਕਰ ਡਾਰਿ ਗੁਥਰਿਯਹਿ ਲਈ ॥੬॥
tasakar ddaar guthariyeh lee |6|
Brought lot of gold-coins and handed over to that swindler.(6)

ਔਰ ਖਜਾਨੋ ਸਾਹੁ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਲਯੋ ਮੰਗਾਇ ॥
aauar khajaano saahu ko sabh hee layo mangaae |
Whole of the treasurer of the Shah was brought in,
ਜਾਇ ਜਹਾਨਾਬਾਦ ਮੈ ਦੈਹੌ ਧਨ ਪਹੁਚਾਇ ॥੭॥
jaae jahaanaabaad mai daihau dhan pahuchaae |7|
(And he told him) that he will hand over all that in Jehanbad (Capital of the Emperor).

ਬਨਿਯਨ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਸੋ ਗਯੋ ॥

ਸਭ ਹੀ ਧਨੁ ਇਕਠੋ ਕੈ ਲਯੋ ॥
sabh hee dhan ikattho kai layo |
When the Shah had gone to sleep, he accumulated all the wealth,
ਸਾਥਿਨ ਤਿਨਿ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਬੈਠਾਯੋ ॥
saathin tin dvaar baitthaayo |
ਸੋਯੋ ਖਾਨ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਜਗਾਯੋ ॥੮॥
soyo khaan na jaat jagaayo |8|
He told his accomplice to watch at the gate and not to awake him.(8)

ਕਿਸੁ ਭਰਵਾਸੈ ਬਿਚਰਹਿ ਭਵਨ ॥

What supports you in this world?
ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਕਵਨ ॥
moorr mugadh teraa sangee kavan |
You ignorant fool, who is your companion?
ਰਾਮੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥
raam sangee tis gat nahee jaaneh |
The Lord is your only companion; no one knows His condition.
ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ਸੇ ਮੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਹਿ ॥੧॥
panch battavaare se meet kar maaneh |1|
You look upon the five thieves as your friends. ||1||
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
so ghar sev jit udhareh meet |
Serve that home, which will save you, my friend.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਰਵੀਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gun govind raveeeh din raatee saadhasang kar man kee preet |1| rahaau |
Chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, day and night; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, love Him in your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਹਾਨੋ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਅਰੁ ਵਾਦਿ ॥
janam bihaano ahankaar ar vaad |
This human life is passing away in egotism and conflict.
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਾਦਿ ॥
tripat na aavai bikhiaa saad |
You are not satisfied; such is the flavor of sin.
ਭਰਮਤ ਭਰਮਤ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bharamat bharamat mahaa dukh paaeaa |
Wandering and roaming around, you suffer terrible pain.
ਤਰੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਦੁਤਰ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
taree na jaaee dutar maaeaa |2|
You cannot cross over the impassable sea of Maya. ||2||
ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
kaam na aavai su kaar kamaavai |
You do the deeds which do not help you at all.
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
aap beej aape hee khaavai |
As you plant, so shall you harvest.
ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
raakhan kau doosar nahee koe |
There is none other than the Lord to save you.
ਤਉ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ਜਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
tau nisatarai jau kirapaa hoe |3|
You will be saved, only if God grants His Grace. ||3||
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
patit puneet prabh tero naam |
Your Name, God, is the Purifier of sinners.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
apane daas kau keejai daan |
Please bless Your slave with that gift.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh gat kar meree |
Please grant Your Grace, God, and emancipate me.
ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੮॥
saran gahee naanak prabh teree |4|37|48|
Nanak has grasped Your Sanctuary, God. ||4||37||48||

ਇਹ ਲੋਕੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
eih loke sukh paaeaa |
I have found peace in this world.
ਨਹੀ ਭੇਟਤ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
nahee bhettat dharam raaeaa |
I will not have to appear before the Righteous Judge of Dharma to give my account.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥
har daragah sobhaavant |
I will be respected in the Court of the Lord,
ਫੁਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਸੰਤ ॥੧॥
fun garabh naahee basant |1|
and I will not have to enter the womb of reincarnation ever again. ||1||
ਜਾਨੀ ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਈ ॥
jaanee sant kee mitraaee |
Now, I know the value of friendship with the Saints.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa deeno har naamaa poorab sanjog milaaee |1| rahaau |
In His Mercy, the Lord has blessed me with His Name. My pre-ordained destiny has been fulfilled. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
gur kai charan chit laagaa |
My consciousness is attached to the Guru's feet.
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥
dhan dhan sanjog sabhaagaa |
Blessed, blessed is this fortunate time of union.
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥੇ ॥
sant kee dhoor laagee merai maathe |
I have applied the dust of the Saints' feet to my forehead,
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਸਗਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੨॥
kilavikh dukh sagale mere laathe |2|
and all my sins and pains have been eradicated. ||2||
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸਚੁ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਨੀ ॥
saadh kee sach ttehal kamaanee |
Performing true service to the Holy,
ਤਬ ਹੋਏ ਮਨ ਸੁਧ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥
tab hoe man sudh paraanee |
the mortal's mind is purified.
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸੁ ਡੀਠਾ ॥
jan kaa safal daras ddeetthaa |
I have seen the fruitful vision of the Lord's humble slave.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੩॥
naam prabhoo kaa ghatt ghatt vootthaa |3|
God's Name dwells within each and every heart. ||3||
ਮਿਟਾਨੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ॥
mittaane sabh kal kales |
All my troubles and sufferings have been taken away;
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥
jis te upaje tis meh paraves |
I have merged into the One, from whom I originated.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਆਨੂਪ ਗੋੁਵਿੰਦ ॥
pragatte aanoop gouvind |
The Lord of the Universe, incomparably beautiful, has become merciful.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੯॥
prabh poore naanak bakhasind |4|38|49|
O Nanak, God is perfect and forgiving. ||4||38||49||

ਗਊ ਕਉ ਚਾਰੇ ਸਾਰਦੂਲੁ ॥
gaoo kau chaare saaradool |
The tiger leads the cow to the pasture,
ਕਉਡੀ ਕਾ ਲਖ ਹੂਆ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
kauddee kaa lakh hooaa mool |
the shell is worth thousands of dollars,
ਬਕਰੀ ਕਉ ਹਸਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ॥
bakaree kau hasatee pratipaale |
and the elephant nurses the goat,
ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥੧॥
apanaa prabh nadar nihaale |1|
when God bestows His Glance of Grace. ||1||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
kripaa nidhaan preetam prabh mere |
You are the treasure of mercy, O my Beloved Lord God.
ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
baran na saakau bahu gun tere |1| rahaau |
I cannot even describe Your many Glorious Virtues. ||1||Pause||
ਦੀਸਤ ਮਾਸੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਈ ॥
deesat maas na khaae bilaaee |
The cat sees the meat, but does not eat it,
ਮਹਾ ਕਸਾਬਿ ਛੁਰੀ ਸਟਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
mahaa kasaab chhuree satt paaee |
and the great butcher throws away his knife;
ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵੂਠਾ ॥
karanahaar prabh hiradai vootthaa |
the Creator Lord God abides in the heart;
ਫਾਥੀ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਾਲਾ ਤੂਟਾ ॥੨॥
faathee machhulee kaa jaalaa toottaa |2|
the net holding the fish breaks apart. ||2||
ਸੂਕੇ ਕਾਸਟ ਹਰੇ ਚਲੂਲ ॥
sooke kaasatt hare chalool |
The dry wood blossoms forth in greenery and red flowers;
ਊਚੈ ਥਲਿ ਫੂਲੇ ਕਮਲ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
aoochai thal foole kamal anoop |
in the high desert, the beautiful lotus flower blooms.
ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ॥
agan nivaaree satigur dev |
The Divine True Guru puts out the fire.
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਾਇਓ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥
sevak apanee laaeo sev |3|
He links His servant to His service. ||3||
ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਾ ਕਾ ਕਰੇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
akirataghanaa kaa kare udhaar |
He saves even the ungrateful;
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਰੁ ॥
prabh meraa hai sadaa deaar |
my God is forever merciful.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
sant janaa kaa sadaa sahaaee |
He is forever the helper and support of the humble Saints.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੫੦॥
charan kamal naanak saranaaee |4|39|50|
Nanak has found the Sanctuary of His lotus feet. ||4||39||50||

ਪੰਚ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥

God killed the five tigers.
ਦਸ ਬਿਘਿਆੜੀ ਲਈ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥
das bighiaarree lee nivaar |
He has driven out the ten wolves.
ਤੀਨਿ ਆਵਰਤ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਘੇਰ ॥
teen aavarat kee chookee gher |
The three whirl-pools have stopped spinning.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਚੂਕੇ ਭੈ ਫੇਰ ॥੧॥

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the fear of reincarnation is gone. ||1||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ॥
simar simar jeevaa govind |
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe, I live.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਦਾਸੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa raakhio daas apanaa sadaa sadaa saachaa bakhasind |1| rahaau |
In His Mercy, He protects His slave; the True Lord is forever and ever the forgiver. ||1||Pause||
ਦਾਝਿ ਗਏ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਪਾਪ ਸੁਮੇਰ ॥
daajh ge trin paap sumer |
The mountain of sin is burnt down, like straw,
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੂਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੈਰ ॥
jap jap naam pooje prabh pair |
by chanting and meditating on the Name, and worshipping God's feet.
ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਸਭ ਥਾਨਿ ॥
anad roop pragattio sabh thaan |
God, the embodiment of bliss, becomes manifest everywhere.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੨॥
prem bhagat joree sukh maan |2|
Linked to His loving devotional worship, I enjoy peace. ||2||
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਬਾਛਰ ਖੋਜ ॥
saagar tario baachhar khoj |
I have crossed over the world-ocean, as if it were no bigger than a calf's footprint on the ground.
ਖੇਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਨਹ ਫੁਨਿ ਰੋਜ ॥
khed na paaeo neh fun roj |
I shall never again have to endure suffering or grief.
ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਘਟੁਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sindh samaaeo ghattuke maeh |
The ocean is contained in the pitcher.
ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਕਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
karanahaar kau kichh acharaj naeh |3|
This is not such an amazing thing for the Creator to do. ||3||
ਜਉ ਛੂਟਉ ਤਉ ਜਾਇ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
jau chhoottau tau jaae peaal |
When I am separated from Him, then I am consigned to the nether regions.
ਜਉ ਕਾਢਿਓ ਤਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
jau kaadtio tau nadar nihaal |
When He lifts me up and pulls me out, then I am enraptured by His Glance of Grace.
ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਹਮਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
paap pun hamarai vas naeh |
Vice and virtue are not under my control.
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੧॥
rasak rasak naanak gun gaeh |4|40|51|
With love and affection, Nanak sings His Glorious Praises. ||4||40||51||
