ਤਰੀ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਆਵਤ ਹੁਤੀ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥
taree tarun aavat hutee hridai harakh upajaae |
ਤਬ ਲੋ ਲਹਿਰ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੀ ਨਿਕਟ ਪਹੂੰਚੀ ਆਇ ॥੮॥
tab lo lahir samundr see nikatt pahoonchee aae |8|
ਅਪਨੋ ਸੋ ਬਲ ਕਰਿ ਥਕੀ ਪਾਰ ਨ ਭਈ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
apano so bal kar thakee paar na bhee banaae |
Once, fully satisfied, as she was swimming back,
ਲਹਰਿ ਨਦੀ ਕੀ ਆਇ ਤਹ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਕਹੂੰ ਬਹਾਇ ॥੯॥
lehar nadee kee aae teh lai gee kahoon bahaae |9|
A very high wave m the never drifted her away.(9)

ਬਹਤ ਬਹਤ ਕੋਸਨ ਬਹੁ ਗਈ ॥
behat behat kosan bahu gee |
ਲਾਗਤ ਏਕ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਭਈ ॥
laagat ek kinaare bhee |
Being drifted as such for a number of miles, she touched the bank.
ਏਕ ਅਹੀਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤਿਹ ਆਯੋ ॥
ek aheer drisatt tih aayo |
ਹਾਕ ਮਾਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਾਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
haak maar triy taeh bulaayo |10|
A milk-man came to that place, and screamed to call her.(10)

ਹੇ ਅਹੀਰ ਹੌ ਜਾਤ ਹੌ ਬਹਤ ਨਦੀ ਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
he aheer hau jaat hau behat nadee ke maeh |
(She said) ‘Oh, milkman, I am drowning here,
ਜੋ ਹ︀ਯਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ਮੁਝੈ ਵਹੈ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧੧॥
jo hayaan te kaadtai mujhai vahai hamaaro naeh |11|
‘Who-so-ever, helps me to rescue, will become my husband.’(11)

ਧਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਅਹੀਰ ਬਚ ਆਯੋ ॥
dhaavat sun aheer bach aayo |
ਐਚਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕਹ ਤੀਰ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥
aich triyaa keh teer lagaayo |
Hearing this, the milkman came forward, and pulled that woman out.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਤਿਹ ਸੌ ਤਿਨ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
bahur bhog tih sau tin kariyo |
ਘਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਘਰਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੨॥
ghar lai jaae gharan tih kariyo |12|
He gratified himself sexually, brought her home and took her as his wife. (12)

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਬਚਾਯੋ ਆਪਨੋ ਰਤਿ ਅਹੀਰ ਸੌ ਠਾਨਿ ॥
praan bachaayo aapano rat aheer sau tthaan |
No doubt she saved her life by making love with the milkman.
ਬਹੁਰ ਰਾਵ ਕੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਬਢੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਕੀ ਆਨ ॥੧੩॥
bahur raav kee ruch badtee adhik tarun kee aan |13|
But the damsel was very much in distress for not meeting the Raja.(l3)

ਸੁਨੁ ਅਹੀਰ ਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
sun aheer mai triyaa tihaaree |
ਤੁਮ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਮੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੀ ॥
tum payaaro muhi mai tuhi payaaree |
‘Listen, milkman, I am your woman. You love me and I love you.
ਰਾਇ ਨਗਰ ਮੈ ਨਹਿਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੋ ॥
raae nagar mai nahin nihaaro |
ਤਿਹ ਦੇਖਨ ਕਹ ਹਿਯਾ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥੧੪॥
tih dekhan keh hiyaa hamaaro |14|
‘I have not met the Raja of the town. I am craving to see him.’(I4)

ਚਲਹੁ ਅਬੈ ਉਠਿ ਕੈ ਦੋਊ ਤਵਨ ਨਗਰ ਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
chalahu abai utth kai doaoo tavan nagar mai jaae |
‘Come, get up let us go to the town,
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਕਰੈ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥੧੫॥
bhaat bhaat ke sukh karai hridai harakh upajaae |15|
‘We will get involved in various bounties to please our hearts.’(l5)
ਤਵਨ ਨਗਰ ਆਵਤ ਭਈ ਲੈ ਗੂਜਰ ਕੋ ਸਾਥ ॥
tavan nagar aavat bhee lai goojar ko saath |
Taking the milk-man with her, she reached the town,
ਤਿਵਹੀ ਤਰਿ ਭੇਟਤ ਭਈ ਉਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ॥੧੬॥
tivahee tar bhettat bhee uhee nripat ke saath |16|
The same way she had gone to meet the Raja crossing the river.(l6)

ਤੈਸਿਯ ਭਾਤਿ ਨਦੀ ਤਰਿ ਗਈ ॥
taisiy bhaat nadee tar gee |
ਵੈਸਿਯ ਭੇਟ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੌ ਭਈ ॥
vaisiy bhett nripat sau bhee |
The same way she crossed the river and met the Raja,
ਭੂਪ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਈ ॥
bhoop kahiyo bahute din aaee |
ਆਜੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
aaj hamaaree sej suhaaee |17|
Raja said, as you have come after so many days, my bed will be adorned.’(l7)

ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੁਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਧਿਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਪਾਯੋ ਤਨ ਦੁਖ︀ਯ ॥
sun raajaa tum bin adhik triy paayo tan dukhay |
‘Listen, Raja, this damsel has borne enough anguish without you.
ਤੁਮ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਪਠਿਯੋ ਪੂਛਨ ਕੁਸਲ ਮਨੁਖ︀ਯ ॥੧੮॥
tum ham pai koaoo na patthiyo poochhan kusal manukhay |18|
‘Moreover, neither you sent any body to inquire my welfare.’(l8)

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਭਾਗ ਸੁਲਖਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
bhaag sulakhanaa har kant hamaaraa raam |
By blessed destiny, I have found my Husband Lord.
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਧੁਨਿ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
anahad baajitraa tis dhun darabaaraa raam |
The unstruck sound current vibrates and resounds in the Court of the Lord.
ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਵਜਹਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਉਮਾਹਾ ॥
aanand anadin vajeh vaaje dinas rain umaahaa |
Night and day, the sounds of ecstasy resound and resonate; day and night, I am enraptured.
ਤਹ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਤਾਹਾ ॥
teh rog sog na dookh biaapai janam maran na taahaa |
Disease, sorrow and suffering do not afflict anyone there; there is no birth or death there.
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸੁਧਾ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
ridh sidh sudhaa ras amrit bhagat bhare bhanddaaraa |
There are treasures overflowing there - wealth, miraculous powers, ambrosial nectar and devotional worship.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਵੰਞਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
binavant naanak balihaar vanyaa paarabraham praan adhaaraa |1|
Prays Nanak, I am a sacrifice, devoted to the Supreme Lord God, the Support of the breath of life. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀਅ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਹ ਰਾਮ ॥
sun sakheea sahelarreeho mil mangal gaavah raam |
Listen, O my companions, and sister soul-brides, let's join together and sing the songs of joy.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਰਾਵਹ ਰਾਮ ॥
man tan prem kare tis prabh kau raavah raam |
Loving our God with mind and body, let's ravish and enjoy Him.
ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਰਾਵਹ ਤਿਸੈ ਭਾਵਹ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਪਲਕ ਨ ਤਿਆਗੀਐ ॥
kar prem raavah tisai bhaavah ik nimakh palak na tiaageeai |
Lovingly enjoying Him, we become pleasing to Him; let's not reject Him, for a moment, even for an instant.
ਗਹਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਈਐ ਨਹ ਲਜਾਈਐ ਚਰਨ ਰਜ ਮਨੁ ਪਾਗੀਐ ॥
geh kantth laaeeai neh lajaaeeai charan raj man paageeai |
Let's hug Him close in our embrace, and not feel shy; let's bathe our minds in the dust of His feet.
ਭਗਤਿ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਮੋਹਹ ਅਨਤ ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਧਾਵਹ ॥
bhagat tthgauree paae mohah anat katahoo na dhaavah |
With the intoxicating drug of devotional worship, let's entice Him, and not wander anywhere else.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਅਮਰ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਵਹ ॥੨॥
binavant naanak mil sang saajan amar padavee paavah |2|
Prays Nanak, meeting with our True Friend, we attain the immortal status. ||2||
ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਈ ਪੇਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
bisaman bisam bhee pekh gun abinaasee raam |
I am wonder-struck and amazed, gazing upon the Glories of my Imperishable Lord.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਗਹੀ ਕਟਿ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
kar geh bhujaa gahee katt jam kee faasee raam |
He took my hand, and held my arm, and cut away the noose of Death.
ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੀਨੑੀ ਦਾਸਿ ਕੀਨੑੀ ਅੰਕੁਰਿ ਉਦੋਤੁ ਜਣਾਇਆ ॥
geh bhujaa leenaee daas keenaee ankur udot janaaeaa |
Holding me by the arm, He made me His slave; the branch has sprouted in abundance.
ਮਲਨ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਠੇ ਦਿਵਸ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਆਇਆ ॥
malan moh bikaar naatthe divas niramal aaeaa |
Pollution, attachment and corruption have run away; the immaculate day has dawned.
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਸੀ ॥
drisatt dhaaree man piaaree mahaa duramat naasee |
Casting His Glance of Grace, the Lord loves me with His Mind; my immense evil-mindedness is dispelled.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥੩॥
binavant naanak bhee niramal prabh mile abinaasee |3|
Prays Nanak, I have become immaculate and pure; I have met the Imperishable Lord God. ||3||
ਸੂਰਜ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਜਲੁ ਹੂਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
sooraj kiran mile jal kaa jal hooaa raam |
The rays of light merge with the sun, and water merges with water.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਨੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
jotee jot ralee sanpooran theea raam |
One's light blends with the Light, and one becomes totally perfect.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥
braham deesai braham suneeai ek ek vakhaaneeai |
I see God, hear God, and speak of the One and only God.
ਆਤਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
aatam pasaaraa karanahaaraa prabh binaa nahee jaaneeai |
The soul is the Creator of the expanse of creation. Without God, I know no other at all.
ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਆ ॥
aap karataa aap bhugataa aap kaaran keea |
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer. He created the Creation.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
binavant naanak seee jaaneh jinaee har ras peea |4|2|
Prays Nanak, they alone know this, who drink in the subtle essence of the Lord. ||4||2||
