ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਸਕਲ ਹੀ ਧਾਏ ॥

yau sun lok sakal hee dhaae |

Hearing this the people swarmed to the place,

ਛੇਰਾ ਸਕਰ ਕੁਚਾਰੂ ਲ︀ਯਾਏ ॥

chheraa sakar kuchaaroo layaae |

And with them they brought sweetmeats and snacks

ਦੂਧ ਭਾਤ ਆਗੇ ਲੈ ਧਰਹੀ ॥

doodh bhaat aage lai dharahee |

They presented him milk and rice,

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੌ ਪਾਇਨ ਪਰਹੀ ॥੨੫॥

bhaat bhaat sau paaein parahee |25|

And, through numerous ways, paid their obeisance at his feet.(25)

ਦਰਸ ਦਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਕੌ ਜਦੁਰਾਈ ॥

daras dayo tum kau jaduraaee |

(People said) ‘You had the vision of Krishna,

ਗੁਰੂ ਭਾਖਿ ਦੈ ਗਯੋ ਬਡਾਈ ॥

guroo bhaakh dai gayo baddaaee |

‘And, thus you have become a prominent Guru.

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹਮ ਕਰਹੀ ॥

taa te sabh usatat ham karahee |

‘Now, as we esteem you very high,

ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਬੰਦ ਨ ਪਰਹੀ ॥੨੬॥

mahaa kaal kee band na parahee |26|

‘You emancipate us from the (fear of) death.(26)

ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਬੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਲੇਹੁ ਛੁਰਾਇ ॥

mahaa kaal kee band te sabh ko lehu chhuraae |

‘Please do liberate us from the servitude of the death.

ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਬਿਚਰਹਿ ਸੁਰਗ ਪਰਹਿ ਨਰਕ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੭॥

tav prasaad bichareh surag pareh narak neh jaae |27|

‘We all may, through your benevolence, go to the heaven, and save us from the hell.’(27)

ਚਲੀ ਕਥਾ ਪੁਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਈ ॥

chalee kathaa pur bheetar aaee |

The hearsay reached the town

ਤਿਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

tin raanee sravanan sun paaee |

And the Rani heard it thoughtfully.

ਚੜਿ ਝੰਪਾਨ ਤਹਾ ਕਹ ਚਲੀ ॥

charr jhanpaan tahaa keh chalee |

Sitting in palanquin she started to go to that place,

ਲੀਨੇ ਬੀਸ ਪਚਾਸਿਕ ਅਲੀ ॥੨੮॥

leene bees pachaasik alee |28|

And she took with her twenty-twenty five of her friends.(28)

ਚਲੀ ਚਲੀ ਆਈ ਤਹਾ ਜਹਾ ਹੁਤੇ ਨਿਜੁ ਮੀਤ ॥

chalee chalee aaee tahaa jahaa hute nij meet |

Walking along she reached the place where there was her friend.

ਭਾਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਇਨ ਪਰੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਾਨ ਸੁਖ ਚੀਤ ॥੨੯॥

bhaakh guroo paaein paree adhik maan sukh cheet |29|

Bowing down on his feet, she begged for the peace of mind.(29)

ਕਵਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੋ ॥

kavan kripaa kar kai gur keeno |

‘You have been endowed with the vision of Siam (Krishna),

ਸਕਲ ਕਥਾ ਵਹੁ ਹਮੈ ਸੁਨਾਵਹੁ ॥

sakal kathaa vahu hamai sunaavahu |

ਮੋਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਕੋ ਤਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ॥੩੦॥

more chit ko taap mittaavahu |30|

‘Please let me listen to your anecdotes to console my heart.(30)

ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਥਾ ਤੁਮ ਪੈ ਭਈ ਸੁ ਕਛੁ ਕਹੌ ਤੁਮ ਮੋਹਿ ॥

jo kachh kathaa tum pai bhee su kachh kahau tum mohi |

‘Tell me, tell me, whatever transpired between you,

ਤੁਹਿ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਕਹਾ ਦਯੋ ਬਰ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੩੧॥

tuhi jadupat kaise mile kahaa dayo bar tohi |31|

‘How did you meet Krishna, and what boons did he endow.’(31)

ਮਜਨ ਹੇਤ ਇਹਾ ਮੈ ਆਯੋ ॥

majan het ihaa mai aayo |

ਨ੍ਰਹਾਇ ਧੋਇ ਕਰਿ ਧ︀ਯਾਨ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥

nrahaae dhoe kar dhayaan lagaayo |

(He replied) ‘I had come here for an ablution, and after’ taking bath I contemplated.

ਇਕ ਚਿਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਜਪੁ ਜਬ ਕਿਯੋ ॥

eik chit hvai drirr jap jab kiyo |

ਤਬ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੁਹਿ ਦਿਯੋ ॥੩੨॥

tab jadupat darasan muhi diyo |32|

‘When I sought His divination with great determination, then Shri Krishna came into my vision.(32)

ਸੁਨੁ ਅਬਲਾ ਮੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨੋ ॥

sun abalaa mai kachhoo na jaano |

ਕਹਾ ਦਯੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਹਾ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥

kahaa dayo muhi kahaa bakhaano |

‘Listen, you the lady in distress, I don’t remember what did he con fen upon me.

ਮੈ ਲਖਿ ਰੂਪ ਅਚਰਜ ਤਬ ਭਯੋ ॥

mai lakh roop acharaj tab bhayo |

ਮੋ ਕਹ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਸਭੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਗਯੋ ॥੩੩॥

mo keh bisar sabhai kichh gayo |33|

‘I was astounded with his radiant sight and I lost all my senses.(33)

ਬਨਮਾਲਾ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਧਰੀ ਪੀਤ ਬਸਨ ਫਹਰਾਇ ॥

banamaalaa ur mai dharee peet basan faharaae |

‘With a garland of wild flowers around and yellow clothes on, He came.

ਨਿਰਖ ਦਿਪਤ ਦਾਮਨਿ ਲਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨ ਬਰਨੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੪॥

nirakh dipat daaman lajai prabhaa na baranee jaae |34|

‘As even the lightening faltered on his sight, I was astounded to see him.(34)

ਅਧਿਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਕੀ ਸੋਹੈ ॥

adhik jot jadupat kee sohai |

ਖਗ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਜਛ ਭੁਜੰਗਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥

khag mrig jachh bhujangan mohai |

‘Krishna’s glamour was so high that, even, the birds, antelopes, and reptiles idolised him.

ਲਹਿ ਨੈਨਨ ਕੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸਕੁਚਾਨੇ ॥

leh nainan ko mrig sakuchaane |

ਕਮਲ ਜਾਨਿ ਅਲਿ ਫਿਰਤ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥੩੫॥

kamal jaan al firat divaane |35|

‘The deer felt modest and the black-bees went crazy on his lotus-like posture.(35)

ਪੀਤ ਬਸਨ ਬਨਮਾਲ ਮੋਰ ਕੋ ਮੁਕਟ ਸੁ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

peet basan banamaal mor ko mukatt su dhaarai |

‘The yellow robes, garlands of flowers around the neck and peacock- crown on the head, were exalting.

ਮੁਖ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਅਤਿ ਫਬਤ ਹਿਯੇ ਕੌਸਤਭ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

mukh muralee at fabat hiye kauasatabh man dhaarai |

‘With a flute on his mouth, he had the (legendry) jewel of Kaustik (auspiciously churned out of the sea) in his heart.

ਸਾਰੰਗ ਸੁਦਰਸਨ ਗਦਾ ਹਾਥ ਨੰਦਗ ਅਸਿ ਛਾਜੈ ॥

saarang sudarasan gadaa haath nandag as chhaajai |

‘He had beautiful bow, elegant quoits and double-edged sword in his hands

ਲਖੇ ਸਾਵਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਸਘਨ ਘਨ ਸਾਵਨ ਲਾਜੈ ॥੩੬॥

lakhe saavaree deh saghan ghan saavan laajai |36|

‘Seeing his dark complexion, even the rainy-season cloud felt timidity.(36)

ਚਤੁਰ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਆਯੁਧ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਹੂੰ ਬਿਰਾਜਤ ਹਾਥ ॥

chatur kaanrah aayudh chatur chahoon biraajat haath |

‘In all his four arms, four hands were ensconed,

ਦੋਖ ਹਰਨ ਦੀਨੋ ਧਰਨ ਸਭ ਨਾਥਨ ਕੈ ਨਾਥ ॥੩੭॥

dokh haran deeno dharan sabh naathan kai naath |37|

‘Which were the perpetrator for the elimination of afflictions.(37)

ਨਵਲ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਗੋਪੀ ਨਵਲ ਨਵਲ ਸਖਾ ਲਿਯੇ ਸੰਗ ॥

naval kaanrah gopee naval naval sakhaa liye sang |

‘The handsome Kahan (Krishna) had pretty female-companions a maids.

ਨਵਲ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਜਾਮੈ ਧਰੇ ਰੰਗਿਤ ਨਾਨਾ ਰੰਗ ॥੩੮॥

naval basatr jaamai dhare rangit naanaa rang |38|

‘They all had adorned beautiful and novel clothes.’(38)

ਇਹੈ ਭੇਖ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕੋ ਯਾ ਮੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਭੇਦ ॥

eihai bhekh bhagavaan ko yaa mai kachhoo na bhed |

(She said) ‘There is no doubt that he was the epitome of Bhagwan,

ਇਹੈ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਭ ਇਹੈ ਬਖਾਨਤ ਬੇਦ ॥੩੯॥

eihai uchaarat saasatr sabh ihai bakhaanat bed |39|

And the Vedas and the Shastras stand testimony to that.(39)

ਇਹੈ ਭੇਖ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਹੈ ਇਹੈ ਕਹਤ ਸਭ ਕੋਇ ॥

eihai bhekh panddit kahai ihai kehat sabh koe |

ਦਰਸੁ ਦਯੋ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਤੁਮੈ ਯਾ ਮੈ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੪੦॥

daras dayo jadupat tumai yaa mai bhed na koe |40|

As Pundits had said that, as such, was confirmed by everyone else.’( 40)

ਸਭ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਪਾਇਨ ਪਰ ਪਰੀ ॥

sabh banitaa paaein par paree |

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਰੀ ॥

bhaat bhaat so binatee karee |

All the ladies attending fell on his feet to pay obeisance and presented numerous entreaties.

ਨਾਥ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਧਾਮ ਪਧਾਰਹੁ ॥

naath hamaare dhaam padhaarahu |

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਹੁ ॥੪੧॥

sree jadupat ko naam uchaarahu |41|

They requested him come to their houses and sing the praises of Shri Krishna.(41)

ਧਾਮ ਚਲੋ ਹਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

dhaam chalo hamare prabhoo kar kai kripaa apaar |

(They begged) ‘Please be benevolent and come to our domains.

ਹਮ ਠਾਢੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ਏਕ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਰਧਾਰ ॥੪੨॥

ham tthaadtee sevaa karai ek charan niradhaar |42|

‘We will render service even if we had to perform by standing on our one leg.’ (42)

ਰਾਨੀ ਸੁਤ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਿਯੈ ਸੁਖੀ ਬਸੈ ਤਬ ਦੇਸ ॥

raanee sut tumare jiyai sukhee basai tab des |

(He said) ‘Oh Rani! Long live your offspring and be your country very prosperous.

ਹਮ ਅਤੀਤ ਬਨ ਹੀ ਭਲੇ ਧਰੇ ਜੋਗ ਕੋ ਭੇਸ ॥੪੩॥

ham ateet ban hee bhale dhare jog ko bhes |43|

‘We are quite satisfied here, living like a hermit.’( 43)

ਲਗੀ ਪਾਇ ਮੈ ਰਹੋ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ॥

lagee paae mai raho tihaare |

(She said) ‘Please, come to our house, I will always remain attached to your feet.

ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਹੋ ਕਰਿਹੋ ਅਬ ਸੋਈ ॥

jo kachh kaho kariho ab soee |

ਤਵ ਆਗ︀ਯਾ ਫੇਰਿ ਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੪੪॥

tav aagayaa fer hai na koee |44|

‘I will render every service to your desire and will never evade.’(44)

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਵਾਰ ਸਤ ਘਰੁ ੧੦ ॥

bilaaval mahalaa 3 vaar sat ghar 10 |

Bilaaval, Third Mehl, The Seven Days, Tenth House:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਆਦਿਤ ਵਾਰਿ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥

aadit vaar aad purakh hai soee |

Sunday: He, the Lord, is the Primal Being.

ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥

aape varatai avar na koee |

He Himself is the Pervading Lord; there is no other at all.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਜਗੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਪਰੋਈ ॥

ot pot jag rahiaa paroee |

Through and through, He is woven into the fabric of the world.

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥

aape karataa karai su hoee |

Whatever the Creator Himself does, that alone happens.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥

naam rate sadaa sukh hoee |

Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one is forever in peace.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥

guramukh viralaa boojhai koee |1|

But how rare is the one, who, as Gurmukh, understands this. ||1||

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਨੀ ਜਪਉ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥

hiradai japanee jpau gunataasaa |

Within my heart, I chant the Chant of the Lord, the treasure of virtue.

ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਪਗਿ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

har agam agochar aparanpar suaamee jan pag lag dhiaavau hoe daasan daasaa |1| rahaau |

The Lord, my Lord and Master, is inaccessible, unfathomable and unlimited. Grasping the feet of the Lord's humble servants, I meditate on Him, and become the slave of His slaves. ||1||Pause||

ਸੋਮਵਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

somavaar sach rahiaa samaae |

Monday: The True Lord is permeating and pervading.

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

tis kee keemat kahee na jaae |

His value cannot be described.

ਆਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਭਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

aakh aakh rahe sabh liv laae |

Talking and speaking about Him, all keep themselves lovingly focused on Him.

ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

jis devai tis palai paae |

Devotion falls into the laps of those whom He so blesses.

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਲਖਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

agam agochar lakhiaa na jaae |

He is inaccessible and unfathomable; He cannot be seen.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥

gur kai sabad har rahiaa samaae |2|

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is seen to be permeating and pervading everywhere. ||2||

ਮੰਗਲਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥

mangal maaeaa mohu upaaeaa |

Tuesday: The Lord created love and attachment to Maya.

ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

aape sir sir dhandhai laaeaa |

He Himself has enjoined each and every being to their tasks.

ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ॥

aap bujhaae soee boojhai |

He alone understands, whom the Lord causes to understand.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥

gur kai sabad dar ghar soojhai |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one understands his heart and home.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

prem bhagat kare liv laae |

He worships the Lord in loving devotion.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੩॥

haumai mamataa sabad jalaae |3|

His egotism and self-conceit are burnt away by the Shabad. ||3||

ਬੁਧਵਾਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਾਰੁ ॥

budhavaar aape budh saar |

Wednesday: He Himself bestows sublime understanding.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

guramukh karanee sabad veechaar |

The Gurmukh does good deeds, and contemplates the Word of the Shabad.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

naam rate man niramal hoe |

Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind become pure and immaculate.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਇ ॥

har gun gaavai haumai mal khoe |

He sings the Glorious Glorious Praises of the Lord, and washes off the filth of egotism.

ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਦ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥

dar sachai sad sobhaa paae |

In the Court of the True Lord, he obtains lasting glory.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥੪॥

naam rate gur sabad suhaae |4|

Imbued with the Naam, he is embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||4||

ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥

laahaa naam paae gur duaar |

The profit of the Naam is obtained through the Door of the Guru.

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

aape devai devanahaar |

The Great Giver Himself gives it.

ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

jo devai tis kau bal jaaeeai |

I am a sacrifice to the One who gives it.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥

gur parasaadee aap gavaaeeai |

By Guru's Grace, self-conceit is eradicated.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

naanak naam rakhahu ur dhaar |

O Nanak, enshrine the Naam within your heart.

ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੫॥

devanahaare kau jaikaar |5|

ਵੀਰਵਾਰਿ ਵੀਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥

veeravaar veer bharam bhulaae |

Thursday: The fifty-two warriors were deluded by doubt.

ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਏ ॥

pret bhoot sabh doojai laae |

All the goblins and demons are attached to duality.

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਵੇਕਾ ॥

aap upaae kar vekhai vekaa |

God Himself created them, and sees each one distinct.

ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕਾ ॥

sabhanaa karate teree ttekaa |

O Creator Lord, You are the Support of all.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥

jeea jant teree saranaaee |

The beings and creatures are under Your protection.

ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੬॥

so milai jis laihi milaaee |6|

He alone meets You, whom You Yourself meet. ||6||

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਵਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥

sukravaar prabh rahiaa samaaee |

Friday: God is permeating and pervading everywhere.

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

aap upaae sabh keemat paaee |

He Himself created all, and appraises the value of all.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

guramukh hovai su karai beechaar |

One who become Gurmukh, contemplates the Lord.

ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ ਕਾਰ ॥

sach sanjam karanee hai kaar |

He practices truth and self-restraint.

ਵਰਤੁ ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਤਾਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਪੂਜਾ ॥

varat nem nitaaprat poojaa |

Without genuine understanding, all fasts,

ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਭੁ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੭॥

bin boojhe sabh bhaau hai doojaa |7|

Religious rituals and daily worship services lead only to the love of duality. ||7||

ਛਨਿਛਰਵਾਰਿ ਸਉਣ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

chhanichharavaar saun saasat beechaar |

Saturday: Contemplating good omens and the Shaastras,

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਮੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

haumai meraa bharamai sansaar |

in egotism and self-conceit, the world wanders in delusion.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥

manamukh andhaa doojai bhaae |

The blind, self-willed manmukh in engrossed in the love of duality.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥

jam dar baadhaa chottaa khaae |

Bound and gagged at death's door, he is beaten and punished.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

gur parasaadee sadaa sukh paae |

By Guru's Grace, one finds lasting peace.

ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੮॥

sach karanee saach liv laae |8|

He practices Truth, and lovingly focuses on the Truth. ||8||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥

satigur seveh se vaddabhaagee |

Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥

haumai maar sach liv laagee |

Conquering their ego, they embrace love for the True Lord.

ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

terai rang raate sehaj subhaae |

They are automatically imbued with Your Love, O Lord.

ਤੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

too sukhadaataa laihi milaae |

You are the Giver of peace; You merge them into Yourself.

ਏਕਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

ekas te doojaa naahee koe |

Everything comes from the One and only Lord; there is no other at all.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੯॥

guramukh boojhai sojhee hoe |9|

The Gurmukh realizes this, and understands. ||9||

ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿਤਂ‍ੀ ਤੈ ਸਤ ਵਾਰ ॥

pandrah thitanee tai sat vaar |

The fifteen lunar days, the seven days of the week,

ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਾਰ ਵਾਰ ॥

maahaa rutee aaveh vaar vaar |

the months, seasons, days and nights, come over and over again;

ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਤਿਵੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

dinas rain tivai sansaar |

so the world goes on.

ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥

aavaa gaun keea karataar |

Coming and going were created by the Creator Lord.

ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਕਲ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

nihachal saach rahiaa kal dhaar |

The True Lord remains steady and stable, by His almighty power.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੦॥੧॥

naanak guramukh boojhai ko sabad veechaar |10|1|

O Nanak, how rare is that Gurmukh who understands, and contemplates the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||1||
