By Your Grace, O Sublime Lord, please save me from it. ||1||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥
charan kamal saranaae naraaein |
I seek the Sanctuary of the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
deenaa naath bhagat paraaein |1| rahaau |
He is the Master of the meek, the Support of His devotees. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਾਥਾ ਨਾਥ ਭਗਤ ਭੈ ਮੇਟਨ ॥
anaathaa naath bhagat bhai mettan |
Master of the masterless, Patron of the forlorn, Eradicator of fear of His devotees.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਨ ਭੇਟਨ ॥੨॥
saadhasang jamadoot na bhettan |2|
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Messenger of Death cannot even touch them. ||2||
ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
jeevan roop anoop deaalaa |
The Merciful, Incomparably Beautiful, Embodiment of Life.
ਰਵਣ ਗੁਣਾ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
ravan gunaa katteeai jam jaalaa |3|
Vibrating the Glorious Virtues of the Lord, the noose of the Messenger of Death is cut away. ||3||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
amrit naam rasan nit jaapai |
One who constantly chants the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam with his tongue,
ਰੋਗ ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥੪॥
rog roop maaeaa na biaapai |4|
is not touched or affected by Maya, the embodiment of disease. ||4||
ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
jap gobind sangee sabh taare |
Chant and meditate on God, the Lord of the Universe, and all of your companions shall be carried across;
ਪੋਹਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
pohat naahee panch battavaare |5|
the five thieves will not even approach. ||5||
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
man bach kram prabh ek dhiaae |
One who meditates on the One God in thought, word and deed
ਸਰਬ ਫਲਾ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥
sarab falaa soee jan paae |6|
- that humble being receives the fruits of all rewards. ||6||
ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
dhaar anugrahu apanaa prabh keenaa |
Showering His Mercy, God has made me His own;
ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੭॥
keval naam bhagat ras deenaa |7|
He has blessed me with the unique and singular Naam, and the sublime essence of devotion. ||7||
ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
aad madh ant prabh soee |
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, He is God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੮॥੧॥੨॥
naanak tis bin avar na koee |8|1|2|
O Nanak, without Him, there is no other at all. ||8||1||2||

jin dditthiaa man rahaseeai kiau paaeeai tina sang jeeo |
Gazing upon them, my mind is enraptured. How can I join them and be with them?
ਸੰਤ ਸਜਨ ਮਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੇ ਲਾਇਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
sant sajan man mitr se laaein prabh siau rang jeeo |
They are Saints and friends, good friends of my mind, who inspire me and help me tune in to God's Love.
ਤਿਨੑ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਭੰਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tina siau preet na tuttee kabahu na hovai bhang jeeo |1|
My love for them shall never die; it shall never, ever be broken. ||1||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਉ ॥
paarabraham prabh kar deaa gun gaavaa tere nit jeeo |
O Supreme Lord God, please grant me Your Grace, that I might constantly sing Your Glorious Praises.
ਆਇ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਸਜਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹ ਮਨ ਮਿਤ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aae milahu sant sajanaa naam japah man mit jeeo |1| rahaau |
Come, and meet with me, O Saints, and good friends; let us chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Best Friend of my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਦੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੇ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਅੰਧੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
dekhai sune na jaanee maaeaa mohiaa andh jeeo |
He does not see, he does not hear, and he does not understand; he is blind, enticed and bewitched by Maya.
ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹਾ ਵਿਣਸਣੀ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਧੰਧੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
kaachee dehaa vinasanee koorr kamaavai dhandh jeeo |
His body is false and transitory; it shall perish. And still, he entangles himself in false pursuits.
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਚਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
naam dhiaaveh se jin chale gur poore sanabandh jeeo |2|
They alone depart victorious, who have meditated on the Naam; they stick with the Perfect Guru. ||2||
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਚਲਣੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
hukame jug meh aaeaa chalan hukam sanjog jeeo |
By the Hukam of God's Will, they come into this world, and they leave upon receipt of His Hukam.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਜੀਉ ॥
hukame parapanch pasariaa hukam kare ras bhog jeeo |
By His Hukam, the Expanse of the Universe is expanded. By His Hukam, they enjoy pleasures.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jis no karataa visarai tiseh vichhorraa sog jeeo |3|
One who forgets the Creator Lord, suffers sorrow and separation. ||3||
ਆਪਨੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
aapanarre prabh bhaaniaa daragah paidhaa jaae jeeo |
One who is pleasing to his God, goes to His Court dressed in robes of honor.
ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
aithai sukh mukh ujalaa iko naam dhiaae jeeo |
One who meditates on the Naam, the One Name, finds peace in this world; his face is radiant and bright.
ਆਦਰੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸਤ ਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
aadar ditaa paarabraham gur seviaa sat bhaae jeeo |4|
The Supreme Lord confers honor and respect on those who serve the Guru with true love. ||4||
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਜੀਉ ॥
thaan thanantar rav rahiaa sarab jeea pratipaal jeeo |
He is pervading and permeating the spaces and interspaces; He loves and cherishes all beings.
ਸਚੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲ ਜੀਉ ॥
sach khajaanaa sanchiaa ek naam dhan maal jeeo |
I have accumulated the true treasure, the wealth and riches of the One Name.
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
man te kabahu na veesarai jaa aape hoe deaal jeeo |5|
I shall never forget Him from my mind, since He has been so merciful to me. ||5||
ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣਾ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
aavan jaanaa reh ge man vutthaa nirankaar jeeo |
My comings and goings have ended; the Formless Lord now dwells within my mind.
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
taa kaa ant na paaeeai aoochaa agam apaar jeeo |
His limits cannot be found; He is lofty and exalted, inaccessible and infinite.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥
jis prabh apanaa visarai so mar jamai lakh vaar jeeo |6|
One who forgets His God, shall die and be reincarnated, hundreds of thousands of times. ||6||
ਸਾਚੁ ਨੇਹੁ ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
saach nehu tin preetamaa jin man vutthaa aap jeeo |
They alone bear true love for their God, within whose minds He Himself dwells.
ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝੀ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੇ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਪਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
gun saajhee tin sang base aatth pehar prabh jaap jeeo |
So dwell only with those who share their virtues; chant and meditate on God, twenty-four hours a day.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥
rang rate paramesarai binase sagal santaap jeeo |7|
They are attuned to the Love of the Transcendent Lord; all their sorrows and afflictions are dispelled. ||7||
ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਏਕੁ ਅਨੇਕ ਜੀਉ ॥
toon karataa toon karanahaar toohai ek anek jeeo |
You are the Creator, You are the Cause of causes; You are the One and the many.
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਤੂਹੈ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਜੀਉ ॥
too samarath too sarab mai toohai budh bibek jeeo |
You are All-powerful, You are present everywhere; You are the subtle intellect, the clear wisdom.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਜਪੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥੧॥੩॥
naanak naam sadaa japee bhagat janaa kee ttek jeeo |8|1|3|
Nanak chants and meditates forever on the Naam, the Support of the humble devotees. ||8||1||3||
