The beauty of his limbs and face was perfect and

Powerful his limbs, practising Yoga, did not bend.395.

Through extremely comely, he remained desireless night and day

And adopting the qualities, the sage lived detachedly.396.

Being absorbed in unexpressible Yoga, he was far away from all foundnesses

Even on forsaking all the royal luxuries, he always remained healthy.397.

That kind sage, was allied with qualities

He was a man of good intellect, a resolute vow-observer and merciful.398.

Enduring coldness on his body, his mind never got impaired and in this way after many years, he had been victorious in Yogs.399.

When that Yogi talked, the leaves of the trees swerved

And knowing the attributes of the Lord, he did not disclose anything to others.400.

Absorbed in meditation, he remained engrossed in the practice of Yoga.402.

While performing austerities, he never felt any suffering

And being absorbed in various types of devotional ideas, he always remained engrossed in devotion.403.

These sages, who relinquished their homes,

Subsisted on air and remained silent.404.

They were full of virues and were no prone to destruction.406.

These gentle sages were masters of infinite qualities
ਸੁਭ ਮਤਿ ਸੁਢਾਰ ॥

They were persons of good intellect and stores of wisdom..409.
ਸੰਨਿਆਸ ਭੇਖ ॥

ਅਨਿਬਿਖ ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖ ॥

These sages in the garb of Sannyasis, were without malice and
ਜਾਪਤ ਅਭੇਖ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਬੁਧਿ ਅਲੇਖ ॥੪੧੦॥

Remembering that Lord, were merged (absorbed) in that Great, wise and unrealizable Lord.410.

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl:
ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
naavai kee keemat mit kahee na jaae |
The value and worth of the Lord's Name cannot be described.
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
se jan dhan jin ik naam liv laae |
Blessed are those humble beings, who lovingly focus their minds on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
guramat saachee saachaa veechaar |
True are the Guru's Teachings, and True is contemplative meditation.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
aape bakhase de veechaar |1|
God Himself forgives, and bestows contemplative meditation. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
har naam acharaj prabh aap sunaae |
The Lord's Name is wonderful! God Himself imparts it.
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kalee kaal vich guramukh paae |1| rahaau |
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Gurmukhs obtain it. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ham moorakh moorakh man maeh |
We are ignorant; ignorance fills our minds.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
haumai vich sabh kaar kamaeh |
We do all our deeds in ego.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur parasaadee hnaumai jaae |
By Guru's Grace, egotism is eradicated.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
aape bakhase le milaae |2|
Forgiving us, the Lord blends us with Himself. ||2||
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
bikhiaa kaa dhan bahut abhimaan |
Poisonous wealth gives rise to great arrogance.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਡੂਬੈ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
ahankaar ddoobai na paavai maan |
Drowning in egotism, no one is honored.
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
aap chhodd sadaa sukh hoee |
Forsaking self-conceit, one finds lasting peace.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
guramat saalaahee sach soee |3|
Under Guru's Instruction, he praises the True Lord. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
aape saaje karataa soe |
The Creator Lord Himself fashions all.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis bin doojaa avar na koe |
Without Him, there is no other at all.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
jis sach laae soee laagai |
He alone is attached to Truth, whom the Lord Himself so attaches.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ॥੪॥੮॥
naanak naam sadaa sukh aagai |4|8|
O Nanak, through the Naam, lasting peace is attained in the hereafter. ||4||8||

I am just a poor beggar of Yours; You are Your Own Lord Master, You are the Great Giver.
ਹੋਹੁ ਦੈਆਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
hohu daiaal naam dehu mangat jan knau sadaa rhau rang raataa |1|
Be Merciful, and bless me, a humble beggar, with Your Name, so that I may forever remain imbued with Your Love. ||1||
ਹੰਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ॥
hnau balihaarai jaau saache tere naam vittahu |
I am a sacrifice to Your Name, O True Lord.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan kaaran sabhanaa kaa eko avar na doojaa koee |1| rahaau |
The One Lord is the Cause of causes; there is no other at all. ||1||Pause||
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਪਏ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਅਬ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
bahute fer pe kirapan kau ab kichh kirapaa keejai |
I was wretched; I wandered through so many cycles of reincarnation. Now, Lord, please bless me with Your Grace.
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਐਸੀ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
hohu deaal darasan dehu apunaa aisee bakhas kareejai |2|
Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please grant me such a gift. ||2||
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਪਟ ਖੂਲੑੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
bhanat naanak bharam patt khoolae gur parasaadee jaaniaa |
Prays Nanak, the shutters of doubt have been opened wide; by Guru's Grace, I have come to know the Lord.
ਸਾਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਹੈ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥੧॥੯॥
saachee liv laagee hai bheetar satigur siau man maaniaa |3|1|9|
I am filled to overflowing with true love; my mind is pleased and appeased by the True Guru. ||3||1||9||

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
jo har seveh sant bhagat tin ke sabh paap nivaaree |
Those Saints and devotees who serve the Lord have all their sins washed away.
ਹਮ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਖੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਜੁ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥
ham aoopar kirapaa kar suaamee rakh sangat tum ju piaaree |1|
Have Mercy on me, O Lord and Master, and keep me in the Sangat, the Congregation that You love. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
har gun keh na skau banavaaree |
I cannot even speak the Praises of the Lord, the Gardener of the world.
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਥਰ ਨੀਰਿ ਡੁਬਤ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ham paapee paathar neer ddubat kar kirapaa paakhan ham taaree | rahaau |
We are sinners, sinking like stones in water; grant Your Grace, and carry us stones across. ||Pause||
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
janam janam ke laage bikh morachaa lag sangat saadh savaaree |
The rust of poison and corruption from countless incarnations sticks to us; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, it is cleaned away.
ਜਿਉ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਤਾਇਓ ਮਲੁ ਕਾਟੀ ਕਟਿਤ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
jiau kanchan baisantar taaeo mal kaattee kattit utaaree |2|
It is just like gold, which is heated in the fire, to remove the impurities from it. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੁ ਜਪਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
har har japan jpau din raatee jap har har har ur dhaaree |
I chant the chant of the Name of the Lord, day and night; I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, and enshrine it within my heart.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਗਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
har har har aaukhadh jag pooraa jap har har haumai maaree |3|
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, is the most perfect medicine in this world; chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have conquered my ego. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥
har har agam agaadh bodh aparanpar purakh apaaree |
The Lord, Har, Har, is unapproachable, of unfathomable wisdom, unlimited, all-powerful and infinite.
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
