ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਲਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪਿ ਭਰਿਓ ॥

as lai kalakee kar kop bhario |

ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਚਰਿਓ ॥

ran rang surang bikhai bichario |

ਗਹਿ ਪਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣ ਬਿਖੇ ਨ ਡਰਿਓ ॥

geh paan kripaan bikhe na ddario |

ਰਿਸ ਸੋ ਰਣ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿਓ ॥੪੭੦॥

ris so ran chitr bachitr kario |470|

The Lord (Kalki) taking his sword in his hand, became filled with anger and began to roam in the battlefield in fighting mood, holding his bow and sword fearlessly and angrily, he began to move in the battlefield in a queer way.470.

ਕਰਿ ਹਾਕਿ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਧਰੈ ॥

kar haak hathiyaar anek dharai |

ਰਣ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਠੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਪਰੈ ॥

ran rang hatthee kar kop parai |

ਗਹਿ ਪਾਨਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਭਿਰੇ ॥

geh paan kripaan nidaan bhire |

ਰਣਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਤੇ ਨ ਫਿਰੇ ॥੪੭੧॥

ran joojh mare fir te na fire |471|

Holding various weapons and challenging with anger and persistence, he fell upon the opponents in war, holding his sword in his hand, he became engrossed in fighting and did not recede.471.

ਉਮਡੀ ਜਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਘਮੰਡ ਘਟਾ ॥

aumaddee jan ghor ghamandd ghattaa |

ਚਮਕੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣ ਸੁ ਬਿਜੁ ਛਟਾ ॥

chamakant kripaan su bij chhattaa |

ਦਲ ਬੈਰਨ ਕੋ ਪਗ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਨ ਫਟਾ ॥

dal bairan ko pag dvai na fattaa |

ਰੁਪ ਕੈ ਰਣ ਮੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਨਿ ਜੁਟਾ ॥੪੭੨॥

rup kai ran mo fir aan juttaa |472|

Like the lightning of the rushing clouds, the swords gleamed, the army of the enemies did not even recede two steps backwards and in its fury, came to fight again in the war-arena.472.

ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਫਿਰੇ ਰਣ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਠੀ ॥

kar kop fire ran rang hatthee |

ਤਪ ਕੈ ਜਿਮਿ ਪਾਵਕ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਭਠੀ ॥

tap kai jim paavak jvaal bhatthee |

ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਾ ਇਕਠੀ ॥

pratinaa pat kai pratinaa ikatthee |

ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਰਣ ਮੋ ਰੁਪਿ ਸੈਣ ਜੁਟੀ ॥੪੭੩॥

ris kai ran mo rup sain juttee |473|

The persistent warriors were getting angry in the war like the furnace with blazing flames, the army revolved and gathered together and was engrossed in fighting with great rage.473.

ਤਰਵਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਹਜਾਰ ਲਸੈ ॥

taravaar apaar hajaar lasai |

ਹਰਿ ਜਿਉ ਅਰਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਅੰਗ ਡਸੈ ॥

har jiau ar kai pratiang ddasai |

ਰਤ ਡੂਬਿ ਸਮੈ ਰਣਿ ਐਸ ਹਸੈ ॥

rat ddoob samai ran ais hasai |

ਜਨੁ ਬਿਜੁਲ ਜੁਆਲ ਕਰਾਲ ਕਸੈ ॥੪੭੪॥

jan bijul juaal karaal kasai |474|

Thousands of swords were looking magnificent and it appeared that the snakes were stinging every limb, the swords seemed smiling like the flash of the dreadful lightning.474.

Sorat'h, First Mehl:

ਜਿਸੁ ਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਤੁਮ ਜਗਿ ਆਏ ਸੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

jis jal nidh kaaran tum jag aae so amrit gur paahee jeeo |

The treasure of the Name, for which you have come into the world - that Ambrosial Nectar is with the Guru.

ਛੋਡਹੁ ਵੇਸੁ ਭੇਖ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਇਹੁ ਫਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

chhoddahu ves bhekh chaturaaee dubidhaa ihu fal naahee jeeo |1|

Renounce costumes, disguises and clever tricks; this fruit is not obtained by duplicity. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੁ ਮਤੁ ਕਤ ਜਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

man re thir rahu mat kat jaahee jeeo |

O my mind, remain steady, and do not wander away.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਢੂਢਤ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਘਟ ਮਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

baahar dtoodtat bahut dukh paaveh ghar amrit ghatt maahee jeeo | rahaau |

By searching around on the outside, you shall only suffer great pain; the Ambrosial Nectar is found within the home of your own being. ||Pause||

ਅਵਗੁਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਕਉ ਧਾਵਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਪਛੁਤਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

avagun chhodd gunaa kau dhaavahu kar avagun pachhutaahee jeeo |

Renounce corruption, and seek virtue; committing sins, you shall only come to regret and repent.

ਸਰ ਅਪਸਰ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੀਚ ਬੁਡਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

sar apasar kee saar na jaaneh fir fir keech buddaahee jeeo |2|

You do not know the difference between good and evil; again and again, you sink into the mud. ||2||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਲੋਭ ਬਹੁ ਝੂਠੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਕਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

antar mail lobh bahu jhootthe baahar naavahu kaahee jeeo |

Within you is the great filth of greed and falsehood; why do you bother to wash your body on the outside?

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਸਦ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਤਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

niramal naam japahu sad guramukh antar kee gat taahee jeeo |3|

Chant the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord always, under Guru's Instruction; only then will your innermost being be emancipated. ||3||

ਪਰਹਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

parahar lobh nindaa koorr tiaagahu sach gur bachanee fal paahee jeeo |

Let greed and slander be far away from you, and renounce falsehood; through the True Word of the Guru's Shabad, you shall obtain the true fruit.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੯॥

jiau bhaavai tiau raakhahu har jeeo jan naanak sabad salaahee jeeo |4|9|

As it pleases You, You preserve me, Dear Lord; servant Nanak sings the Praises of Your Shabad. ||4||9||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਪੰਚਪਦੇ ॥

Sorat'h, First Mehl, Panch-Padhay:

ਅਪਨਾ ਘਰੁ ਮੂਸਤ ਰਾਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਹਿ ਕੀ ਪਰ ਘਰੁ ਜੋਹਨ ਲਾਗਾ ॥

apanaa ghar moosat raakh na saakeh kee par ghar johan laagaa |

You cannot save your own home from being plundered; why do you spy on the houses of others?

ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਜੇ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਹਿ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੧॥

ghar dar raakheh je ras chaakheh jo guramukh sevak laagaa |1|

That Gurmukh who joins himself to the Guru's service, saves his own home, and tastes the Lord's Nectar. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਮਝੁ ਕਵਨ ਮਤਿ ਲਾਗਾ ॥

man re samajh kavan mat laagaa |

O mind, you must realize what your intellect is focused on.

ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਅਨ ਰਸ ਲੋਭਾਨੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਹਿ ਅਭਾਗਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

naam visaar an ras lobhaane fir pachhutaeh abhaagaa | rahaau |

Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one is involved with other tastes; the unfortunate wretch shall come to regret it in the end. ||Pause||

ਆਵਤ ਕਉ ਹਰਖ ਜਾਤ ਕਉ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਲੇ ਲਾਗਾ ॥

aavat kau harakh jaat kau roveh ihu dukh sukh naale laagaa |

When things come, he is pleased, but when they go, he weeps and wails; this pain and pleasure remains attached to him.

ਆਪੇ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਭੋਗਿ ਭੋਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋ ਅਨਰਾਗਾ ॥੨॥

aape dukh sukh bhog bhogaavai guramukh so anaraagaa |2|

The Lord Himself causes him to enjoy pleasure and endure pain; the Gurmukh, however, remains unaffected. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਆ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਗਾ ॥

har ras aoopar avar kiaa kaheeai jin peea so tripataagaa |

What else can be said to be above the subtle essence of the Lord? One who drinks it in is satisfied and satiated.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਰਸੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੩॥

maaeaa mohit jin ihu ras khoeaa jaa saakat duramat laagaa |3|

One who is lured by Maya loses this juice; that faithless cynic is tied to his evil-mindedness. ||3||

ਮਨ ਕਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਵਨਪਤਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਦੇਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਦੇਉ ਸਮਾਗਾ ॥

man kaa jeeo pavanapat dehee dehee meh deo samaagaa |

The Lord is the life of the mind, the Master of the breath of life; the Divine Lord is contained in the body.

ਜੇ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਗਾਈ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥

je too dehi ta har ras gaaee man tripatai har liv laagaa |4|

If You so bless us, Lord, then we sing Your Praises; the mind is satisfied and fulfilled, lovingly attached to the Lord. ||4||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਜਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥

saadhasangat meh har ras paaeeai gur miliai jam bhau bhaagaa |

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the subtle essence of the Lord is obtained; meeting the Guru, the fear of death departs.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੫॥੧੦॥

naanak raam naam jap guramukh har paae masatak bhaagaa |5|10|

O Nanak, chant the Name of the Lord, as Gurmukh; you shall obtain the Lord, and realize your pre-ordained destiny. ||5||10||

Sorat'h, First Mehl:

ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਧੁਰਾਹੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

sarab jeea sir lekh dhuraahoo bin lekhai nahee koee jeeo |

Destiny, pre-ordained by the Lord, looms over the heads of all beings; no one is without this pre-ordained destiny.

ਆਪਿ ਅਲੇਖੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

aap alekh kudarat kar dekhai hukam chalaae soee jeeo |1|

Only He Himself is beyond destiny; creating the creation by His creative power, He beholds it, and causes His Command to be followed. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥

man re raam japahu sukh hoee |

O mind, chant the Name of the Lord, and be at peace.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ahinis gur ke charan sarevahu har daataa bhugataa soee | rahaau |

Day and night, serve at the Guru's feet; the Lord is the Giver, and the Enjoyer. ||Pause||

ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

jo antar so baahar dekhahu avar na doojaa koee jeeo |

He is within - see Him outside as well; there is no one, other than Him.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

guramukh ek drisatt kar dekhahu ghatt ghatt jot samoee jeeo |2|

As Gurmukh, look upon all with the single eye of equality; in each and every heart, the Divine Light is contained. ||2||

ਚਲਤੌ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

chalatau tthaak rakhahu ghar apanai gur miliai ih mat hoee jeeo |

Restrain your fickle mind, and keep it steady within its own home; meeting the Guru, this understanding is obtained.

ਦੇਖਿ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੁ ਰਹਉ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

dekh adrisatt rhau bisamaadee dukh bisarai sukh hoee jeeo |3|

Seeing the unseen Lord, you shall be amazed and delighted; forgetting your pain, you shall be at peace. ||3||

ਪੀਵਹੁ ਅਪਿਉ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

peevahu apiau param sukh paaeeai nij ghar vaasaa hoee jeeo |

Drinking in the ambrosial nectar, you shall attain the highest bliss, and dwell within the home of your own self.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥

janam maran bhav bhanjan gaaeeai punarap janam na hoee jeeo |4|

So sing the Praises of the Lord, the Destroyer of the fear of birth and death, and you shall not be reincarnated again. ||4||

ਤਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਸੋਹੰ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

tat niranjan jot sabaaee sohan bhed na koee jeeo |

The essence, the immaculate Lord, the Light of all - I am He and He is me - there is no difference between us.

ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧੧॥

aparanpar paarabraham paramesar naanak gur miliaa soee jeeo |5|11|

The Infinite Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God - Nanak has met with Him, the Guru. ||5||11||
