In this way, the dreadful war continued for a short while and two lakhs and one thousand warriors died in this war.279.

When the king of Sambhal heard this, he, getting mad with anger turned black like the dark cloud, during the night, with his magic power, he, magnified his body to such an extent that head touched the sky.280.

With helmets on his head, he seems like the suns among the clouds, his powerful body is like Shiva, the Lord of Chandra, which is indescribable.281.

It seemed that the flames were rising and the king had worn the weapons like the Guru Dronacharya.282.

The warriors shouting “kill, kill” were coming near and with the blows of their arms and weapons, the wounds were being inflicted.283.

With the sound of the collision of the dagger with dagger, the fishes of water were getting agitated and on all the four sides, the arrows were being showered violently.284.

Wearing beautiful garments, the warriors are falling down and on all the four sides, the warriors of charming whickers, were absorbed in lamenting.285.

The arrows and swords of sharp edges are being struck and the warriors are moving inspite of the chopping of their limbs.286.

The flesh-eating beings are dancing and vultures and crows in the sky are getting pleased, the rosaries of skulls are being strung for the neck of Shiva and it seems that all have got intoxicated on drinking wine.287.

The warriors being chopped by chopped by the edges of the weapons and the blows of the arms, spilling their blood are getting unconscious and falling down.288.

The warriors, flowing in the current of anger, are striking dreadfully their weapons and with the collision of the bloody daggers they are being excited doubly.289.

The goddess, thirsty of blood, is laughing and her laughter is pervading on all the four sides like the illumination of her light.290.

The determined warriors are fighting taking up their shields and Shiva wearing his rosary of skulls is dancing, the blows of weapons and arms are being struck.291.

The patient warriors are discharging arrows by repeatedly pulling their bows and the swords are being struck like the flash of lightning.292.

The bloody daggers are colliding and with double excitement, the warriors are fighting, those elegant warriors are shouting “kill, kill”.293.

Pressing one another, the warriors are looking magnificent and the great warriors are inflicting wounds on one another.294.

The warriors are engaged like wrestlers among themselves and striking their weapons they are desiring for their victory.295.

The warriors are imbued with war and with double excitement, they are striking their bloody dagger.296.

The heavenly damsels are moving the sky and the warriors, greatly tired, are falling down, the sound of clapping is being heard and Shiva is dancing.297.

The sound of lamentation is rising in the battlefield and alongwith it, there is also shower of arrows, the warriors are thundering and the horses are running from this side to that side.298.

Come, O my companions - let us meet together and dwell upon the True Name.
ਰੋਵਹ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮੑਾਲੇਹਾਂ ॥
rovah birahaa tan kaa aapanaa saahib samaalehaan |
Let us weep over the body's separation from the Lord and Master; let us remember Him in contemplation.
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਿਹ ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਹ ਅਸਾ ਭਿ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
saahib samaalih panth nihaalih asaa bhi othai jaanaa |
Let us remember the Lord and Master in contemplation, and keep a watchful eye on the Path. We shall have to go there as well.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਲੀਆ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
jis kaa keea tin hee leea hoaa tisai kaa bhaanaa |
He who has created, also destroys; whatever happens is by His Will.
ਜੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਆਇਆ ਅਸੀ ਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰੇਹਾ ॥
jo tin kar paaeaa su aagai aaeaa asee ki hukam karehaa |
Whatever He has done, has come to pass; how can we command Him?
ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਚੜਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਹਾ ॥੧॥
aavahu milahu saheleeho sacharraa naam lehaa |1|
Come, O my companions - let us meet together and dwell upon the True Name. ||1||
ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਮੰਦਾ ਲੋਕਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਐਸਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
maran na mandaa lokaa aakheeai je mar jaanai aisaa koe |
Death would not be called bad, O people, if one knew how to truly die.
ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
sevihu saahib samrath aapanaa panth suhelaa aagai hoe |
Serve your Almighty Lord and Master, and your path in the world hereafter will be easy.
ਪੰਥਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੈ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਤਾਂ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
panth suhelai jaavahu taan fal paavahu aagai milai vaddaaee |
Take this easy path, and you shall obtain the fruits of your rewards, and receive honor in the world hereafter.
ਭੇਟੈ ਸਿਉ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਹੁ ਤਾਂ ਪਤਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਪਾਈ ॥
bhettai siau jaavahu sach samaavahu taan pat lekhai paaee |
Go there with your offering, and you shall merge in the True Lord; your honor shall be confirmed.
ਮਹਲੀ ਜਾਇ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਖਸਮੈ ਭਾਵਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣੈ ॥
mahalee jaae paavahu khasamai bhaavahu rang siau raleea maanai |
You shall obtain a place in the Mansion of the Lord Master's Presence; being pleasing to Him, you shall enjoy the pleasures of His Love.
ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਮੰਦਾ ਲੋਕਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੨॥
maran na mandaa lokaa aakheeai je koee mar jaanai |2|
Death would not be called bad, O people, if one knew how to truly die. ||2||
ਮਰਣੁ ਮੁਣਸਾ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਹਕੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੋਇ ਮਰਨਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੋ ॥
maran munasaa sooriaa hak hai jo hoe maran paravaano |
The death of brave heroes is blessed, if it is approved by God.
ਸੂਰੇ ਸੇਈ ਆਗੈ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਮਾਣੋ ॥
soore seee aagai aakheeeh daragah paaveh saachee maano |
They alone are acclaimed as brave warriors in the world hereafter, who receive true honor in the Court of the Lord.
ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਣੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਆਗੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
daragah maan paaveh pat siau jaaveh aagai dookh na laagai |
They are honored in the Court of the Lord; they depart with honor, and they do not suffer pain in the world hereafter.
ਕਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
kar ek dhiaaveh taan fal paaveh jit seviai bhau bhaagai |
They meditate on the One Lord, and obtain the fruits of their rewards. Serving the Lord, their fear is dispelled.
ਊਚਾ ਨਹੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੋ ॥
aoochaa nahee kahanaa man meh rahanaa aape jaanai jaano |
Do not indulge in egotism, and dwell within your own mind; the Knower Himself knows everything.
ਮਰਣੁ ਮੁਣਸਾਂ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਹਕੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੋਇ ਮਰਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੋ ॥੩॥
maran munasaan sooriaa hak hai jo hoe mareh paravaano |3|
The death of brave heroes is blessed, if it is approved by God. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਾਬਾ ਰੋਈਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹੈ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥
naanak kis no baabaa roeeai baajee hai ihu sansaaro |
Nanak: for whom should we mourn, O Baba? This world is merely a play.
ਕੀਤਾ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
keetaa vekhai saahib aapanaa kudarat kare beechaaro |
The Lord Master beholds His work, and contemplates His creative potency.
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਧਾਰਣ ਧਾਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
kudarat beechaare dhaaran dhaare jin keea so jaanai |
He contemplates His creative potency, having established the Universe. He who created it, He alone knows.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਬੂਝੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
aape vekhai aape boojhai aape hukam pachhaanai |
He Himself beholds it, and He Himself understands it. He Himself realizes the Hukam of His Command.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
jin kichh keea soee jaanai taa kaa roop apaaro |
He who created these things, He alone knows. His subtle form is infinite.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਾਬਾ ਰੋਈਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹੈ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੨॥
