ਜਬ ਦਿਜ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਪੜਤ ਤਬ ਮੋ ਸੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਗਰੋਹ ॥
jab dij ke grihi parrat tab mo so huto garoh |
ਅਬ ਲਾਲਚ ਬਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਏ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਦੀਨੋ ਮੋਹ ॥੨੪੦੯॥
ab laalach bas har bhe kachhoo na deeno moh |2409|
When we studied at the house of our teacher, he loved me, but now the Lord has become covetous, therefore he did not give me anything.2409.

ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਬਹੁਤੋ ਧਨ ਸੋਊ ॥
jo brijanaath kee sevaa karai pun paavat hai bahuto dhan soaoo |
ਲੋਗ ਕਹਾ ਤਿਹ ਭੇਦਹਿ ਪਾਵਤ ਆਪਨੀ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਓਊ ॥
log kahaa tih bhedeh paavat aapanee jaanat hai pun oaoo |
He, who serves Krishna, he obtains extreme wealth, but the people do not understand this mystery and only comprehend according to their understanding
ਸਾਧਨ ਕੇ ਬਰਤਾ ਹਰਤਾ ਦੁਖ ਬੈਰਨ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਬੜੇ ਘਰ ਖੋਊ ॥
saadhan ke barataa harataa dukh bairan ke su barre ghar khoaoo |
Krishna is the sustainer of the saints, remover of their sufferings and the destroyer of the demon houses
ਦੀਨਨ ਕੇ ਜਗ ਪਾਲਬੇ ਕਾਜ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਨ ਦੂਸਰ ਕੋਊ ॥੨੪੧੦॥
deenan ke jag paalabe kaaj gareeb nivaaj na doosar koaoo |2410|
There is none other except Krishna, who is the sustainer and supporter of the poor.2410.
ਸੋ ਸਿਸੁਪਾਲ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਜਿਹ ਸੋ ਕੋਊ ਅਉਰ ਨ ਮਾਨ ਧਰੈ ॥
so sisupaal haniyo chhin mai jih so koaoo aaur na maan dharai |
He, who did not care for anyone, that Shishupal was killed by him in an instant
ਅਰੁ ਦੰਤ ਬਕਤ੍ਰ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਜਮ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਰਤੀ ਕੁ ਡਰੈ ॥
ar dant bakatr haniyo jam lok te jo kabahoon na ratee ku ddarai |
He even killed the demon Bakatra, who did never have the fear of the abode of Yama
ਰਿਸ ਸੋ ਭੂਮਾਸੁਰ ਜੀਤਿ ਲਯੋ ਜੋਊ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੇ ਬੀਰ ਨ ਸੰਗ ਅਰੈ ॥
ris so bhoomaasur jeet layo joaoo indr se beer na sang arai |
He even conquered Bhumasura, who fought like Indra and now has given the palace of gold to Sudama
ਅਬ ਕੰਚਨ ਧਾਮ ਕੀਯੋ ਦਿਜ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਬਿਨਾ ਐਸੀ ਕਉਨ ਕਰੈ ॥੨੪੧੧॥
ab kanchan dhaam keeyo dij ko brijanaath binaa aisee kaun karai |2411|
Then tell us, who else except him can do all this?2411.
ਜਾ ਮਧੁ ਕੀਟਭ ਕੋ ਬਧ ਕੈ ਭੂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਦਈ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਕਰੁਨਾਈ ॥
jaa madh keettabh ko badh kai bhoo indr dee kar kai karunaaee |
He, who on killing Madhu and Kaitabh, full of kindness, donated the earth to Indra
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੀ ਇਹ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸੈਨ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਯਾਹਿ ਖਪਾਈ ॥
aaur jitee ih saamuhe satran sain gee sabh yaeh khapaaee |
He before whom all the armies that went, he destroyed them
ਜਾਹਿ ਬਿਭੀਛਨ ਰਾਜ ਦਯੋ ਅਰੁ ਰਾਵਨ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ਲੰਕ ਲੁਟਾਈ ॥
jaeh bibheechhan raaj dayo ar raavan maar kai lank luttaaee |
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਧਾਮ ਦਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਕਹੈ ਕਉਨ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੨੪੧੨॥
kanchan ko tih dhaam dayo kab sayaam kahai kahai kaun baddaaee |2412|
He, who gave kingdom to Vibhishana and after killing Ravana, caused Lanka to be looted and if He has given today the palace of gold to the Brahmin, then in what way it can be a significant thing for Him?2412.

ਜਿਹ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਰਾਖੈ ਨੈਨ ਬਨਾਇ ॥

ਅੰਜਨ ਰੇਖ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਪਰ ਅਟਕਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਫਾਧ ਚੜਾਇ ॥
anjan rekh sayaam par attakat sundar faadh charraae |
He, whose eyes are like the eyes of the deer, the line of antimony on those charming eyes looks splendid
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਨ ਹੇਰਿ ਜਿਨੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿਨ ਰਹਤ ਸਦਾ ਉਰਝਾਇ ॥
mrig man her jine nar naarin rehat sadaa urajhaae |
That lime is like that trap, in which all the men and women always remain entangled
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਸਿਉ ਰੀਝਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੪੧੩॥
tin ke aoopar apanee ruch siau reejh sayaam bal jaae |2413|
Krishna, according to his inclination, remains pleased with all.2413.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨੈਨਾ ਜਲਜ ਠਏ ॥

ਦਿਪਤ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਦੁਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਮੁੰਦਿਤ ਭਏ ॥
dipat jot din man dut mukh te kabahoon na mundit bhe |
The eyes of Krishna are like lotus, which are never closed after illuminating the face
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਨਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਪੁਤਰੀ ਲਗੀ ਸੁ ਭਾਵ ਭਏ ॥
tin kau dekh janan drig putaree lagee su bhaav bhe |
ਜਨੁ ਪਰਾਗ ਕਮਲਨ ਕੀ ਊਪਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਏ ॥੨੪੧੪॥
jan paraag kamalan kee aoopar bhramar kott bhrame |2414|
Seeing them the eyes of the mother, are also absorbed in them like the mumble been hovering over the lotus having pollen.2414.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਸਿਕੰਧ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਦਿਜ ਸੁਦਾਮਾ ਕੋ ਦਾਰਿਦ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਤ ਕੰਚਨ ਧਾਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਏ ॥
eit sree dasam sikandh puraane bachitr naattak granthe krisanaavataare dij sudaamaa ko daarid door karat kanchan dhaam kar det bhe |

ਅਥ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਸੂਰਜ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਕੁਰਖੇਤ੍ਰ ਗਵਨਿ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

ਜਉ ਰਵਿ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਸਬੇ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਦਿਵਸ ਲਗਿਓ ਕਹਿ ਜੋਤਿਕੀ ਯੌ ਤੁ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
jau rav ke grasabe hoo ko divas lagio keh jotikee yau tu sunaayo |
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੀ ਮਾਤ ਬਿਮਾਤ ਅਰੁ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਚਲੈ ਕੁਰੁਖੇਤ੍ਰਿ ਇਹੈ ਠਹਰਾਯੋ ॥
kaanrah kee maat bimaat ar bhraat chalai kurukhetr ihai tthaharaayo |
When the astrologers told about the sun-eclipse, then the mother and brother of Krishna thought about going to Kurukshetra
ਤਾਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਾਤਿਨ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੋ ਸੈਨ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
taat chaliyo brijanaath ko lai sang bhaatin bhaat ko sain banaayo |
ਜੋ ਕੋਊ ਅੰਤੁ ਚਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਕਛੂ ਆਵਤ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੨੪੧੫॥
jo koaoo ant chahai tih ko tin ko kachhoo aavat ant na paayo |2415|
Forming different groups, the father of Krishna started going and this all was so mysterious and wonderful that none could understand it.2415.
ਇਤ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਆਵਤ ਭੇ ਉਤ ਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਆਦਿ ਸਭੈ ਤਹ ਆਏ ॥
eit te brij naaeik aavat bhe ut nand te aad sabhai teh aae |
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਸਭ ਗੁਆਰਿਨਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜਬੈ ਦਰਸਾਏ ॥
chandrabhagaa brikhabhaan sutaa sabh guaarin sayaam jabai darasaae |
From this side, Krishna was coming and from that side Nand and all other people including Chander Bhaga, Radha and gopis were seen coming by Krishna
ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਚਕਿ ਕੈ ਜਕਿ ਗੀ ਕਛੁ ਬੈਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
roop nihaar rahee chak kai jak gee kachh bain kahio nahee jaae |
They all became wonder-struck and silent on seeing the beauty of Krishna
ਨੰਦ ਜਸੋਮਤ ਮੋਹ ਬਢਾਇ ਕੈ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਕੇ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥੨੪੧੬॥
nand jasomat moh badtaae kai kaanrah joo ke ur mai lapattaae |2416|
Nand and Yashoda, feeling extreme affection, hugged him.2416.
ਨੰਦ ਜਸੋਮਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਢਾਇ ਕੈ ਨੈਨਨ ਤੇ ਦੁਹੂ ਨੀਰ ਬਹਾਯੋ ॥
nand jasomat prem badtaae kai nainan te duhoo neer bahaayo |
Nand-Yashoda, affectionately, with tears flowing from their eyes, said, “O Krishna! you had suddenly abandoned Braja and
ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਐਸੋ ਹੀ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
aise kahio brij kau tum tiaag ge mathuraa jeea aiso hee bhaayo |
Came here, it seems that Matura is more dear to you
ਕਾ ਭਯੋ ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਰਿ ਚੰਡੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਹਿ ਕੰਸਹਿ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
kaa bhayo jo tum maar chanddoor prahaar kai sangeh kanseh ghaayo |
What then if you killed Chandur and knocked down and killed Kansa by catching him from his hair
ਹਉ ਨਿਰਮੋਹ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਦਸਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੨੪੧੭॥
hau niramoh nihaar dasaa hamaree tumare man moh na aayo |2417|
O unkind one! did you not feel even a little of affection on seeing our condition?”2417.

at preetam man mohanaa ghatt sohanaa praan adhaaraa raam |
He is dear to me; He fascinates my mind; He is the ornament of my heart, the support of the breath of life.
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੋਭਾ ਲਾਲ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਕੀ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
sundar sobhaa laal gopaal deaal kee apar apaaraa raam |
The Glory of the Beloved, Merciful Lord of the Universe is beautiful; He is infinite and without limit.
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਲਾਲਨ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਕੰਤ ਨਿਮਾਣੀਆ ॥
gopaal deaal gobind laalan milahu kant nimaaneea |
O Compassionate Sustainer of the World, Beloved Lord of the Universe, please, join with Your humble soul-bride.
ਨੈਨ ਤਰਸਨ ਦਰਸ ਪਰਸਨ ਨਹ ਨੀਦ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀਆ ॥
nain tarasan daras parasan neh need rain vihaaneea |
My eyes long for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; the night passes, but I cannot sleep.
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨ ਨਾਮ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਸੀਗਾਰਾ ॥
giaan anjan naam binjan bhe sagal seegaaraa |
I have applied the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom to my eyes; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is my food. These are all my decorations.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਜੰਪੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
naanak peianpai sant janpai mel kant hamaaraa |1|
Prays Nanak, let's meditate on the Saint, that he may unite us with our Husband Lord. ||1||
ਲਾਖ ਉਲਾਹਨੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
laakh ulaahane mohi har jab lag neh milai raam |
I endure thousands of reprimands, and still, my Lord has not met with me.
ਮਿਲਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਉ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਨਹ ਚਲੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
milan kau krau upaav kichh hamaaraa neh chalai raam |
I make the effort to meet with my Lord, but none of my efforts work.
ਚਲ ਚਿਤ ਬਿਤ ਅਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧੀ ਨ ਧੀਜੀਐ ॥
chal chit bit anit pria bin kavan bidhee na dheejeeai |
Unsteady is my consciousness, and unstable is my wealth; without my Lord, I cannot be consoled.
ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਜੀਐ ॥
khaan paan seegaar birathe har kant bin kiau jeejeeai |
Food, drink and decorations are useless; without my Husband Lord, how can I survive?
ਆਸਾ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਰੈਨਿ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੈ ॥
aasaa piaasee rain dineear reh na sakeeai ik tilai |
I yearn for Him, and desire Him night and day. I cannot live without Him, even for an instant.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਦਾਸੀ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੨॥
naanak peianpai sant daasee tau prasaad meraa pir milai |2|
Prays Nanak, O Saint, I am Your slave; by Your Grace, I meet my Husband Lord. ||2||
ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
sej ek priau sang daras na paaeeai raam |
I share a bed with my Beloved, but I do not behold the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਅਵਗਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਤ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
avagan mohi anek kat mehal bulaaeeai raam |
I have endless demerits - how can my Lord call me to the Mansion of His Presence?
ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਅਨਾਥਿ ਬਿਨਵੈ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ॥
niragun nimaanee anaath binavai milahu prabh kirapaa nidhe |
The worthless, dishonored and orphaned soul-bride prays, "Meet with me, O God, treasure of mercy."
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਖੋਈਐ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੋਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਲਕ ਪੇਖਤ ਨਵ ਨਿਧੇ ॥
bhram bheet khoeeai sehaj soeeai prabh palak pekhat nav nidhe |
The wall of doubt has been shattered, and now I sleep in peace, beholding God, the Lord of the nine treasures, even for an instant.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਲਾਲੁ ਆਵੈ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
grihi laal aavai mehal paavai mil sang mangal gaaeeai |
If only I could come into the Mansion of my Beloved Lord's Presence! Joining with Him, I sing the songs of joy.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
naanak peianpai sant saranee mohi daras dikhaaeeai |3|
Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of the Saints; please, reveal to me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||3||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
santan kai parasaad har har paaeaa raam |
By the Grace of the Saints, I have obtained the Lord, Har, Har.
ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
eichh punee man saant tapat bujhaaeaa raam |
My desires are fulfilled, and my mind is at peace; the fire within has been quenched.
ਸਫਲਾ ਸੁ ਦਿਨਸ ਰੈਣੇ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸੁ ਘਨਾ ॥
safalaa su dinas raine suhaavee anad mangal ras ghanaa |
Fruitful is that day, and beauteous is that night, and countless are the joys, celebrations and pleasures.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਲਾਲਨ ਕਵਨ ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਭਨਾ ॥
pragatte gupaal gobind laalan kavan rasanaa gun bhanaa |
The Lord of the Universe, the Beloved Sustainer of the World, has been revealed. With what tongue can I speak of His Glory?
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਥਾਕੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਖੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
bhram lobh moh bikaar thaake mil sakhee mangal gaaeaa |
Doubt, greed, emotional attachment and corruption are taken away; joining with my companions, I sing the songs of joy.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਜੰਪੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak peianpai sant janpai jin har har sanjog milaaeaa |4|2|
