ਯੌ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਭਈ ਚੀਲ ਚਲੀ ਉਡਿ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਵਤੀ ਮਹਿ ਆਈ ॥
yau bateeyaa sun kai bhee cheel chalee udd dvaaravatee meh aaee |
Hearing these words of Usha, she transformed herself into a kite and flew
ਪੌਤ੍ਰ ਹੁਤੋ ਜਿਹ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਕੋ ਛਪਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਿਹ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
pauatr huto jih sayaam joo ko chhap sayaam bhanai tih baat sunaaee |
She reached in Dwarka city, there she told everything to the son of Krishna, while concealing herself,
ਏਕ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਅਟਕੀ ਤੁਮ ਪੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਲ︀ਯਾਇਬੇ ਕੇ ਹਿਤ ਹਉ ਹੂ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
ek treeyaa attakee tum pai tuhi layaaeibe ke hit hau hoo patthaaee |
“One woman is absorbed in your love and I have come to take you there for her
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਚਲੋ ਤਹ ਬੇਗ ਬਲਾਇ ਲਿਉ ਮੇਟਿ ਸਭੈ ਚਿਤ ਕੀ ਦੁਚਿਤਾਈ ॥੨੨੦੧॥
taa te chalo teh beg balaae liau mett sabhai chit kee duchitaaee |2201|
Therefore in order to end the agitation of the mind, go with me there immediately.”2201.
ਬੈਠ ਸੁਨਾਇ ਕੈ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਿਹ ਆਪਨੋ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਤਛ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥

Saying this she showed him her real form
ਜੋ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ਮੋ ਪਰ ਹੈ ਅਟਕੀ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਇ ਪਿਖੋ ਮਨੁ ਯਾਹਿ ਲੁਭਾਯੋ ॥
jo treey mo par hai attakee tih jaae pikho man yaeh lubhaayo |
Then the prince thought that he should see that woman, who loves him
ਖੈਚ ਨਿਖੰਗ ਕਸਿਯੋ ਕਟਿ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਲੈ ਚਲਿਬੇ ਕਹੁ ਸਾਜ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
khaich nikhang kasiyo katt so dhan lai chalibe kahu saaj banaayo |
He tied his bow in his waist and carrying the arrows he made up his mind to go
ਦੂਤੀ ਕੋ ਸੰਗ ਲਏ ਅਪਨੇ ਇਹ ਤਾ ਤ੍ਰੀਅ ਲਿਆਵਨ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੦੨॥
dootee ko sang le apane ih taa treea liaavan kaaj sidhaayo |2202|
He accompanied the messenger to bring with him the woman in love.2202.

ਸੰਗ ਲਯੋ ਅਨਰੁਧ ਕੋ ਦੂਤੀ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਇ ॥

ਊਖਾ ਕੋ ਪੁਰ ਥੋ ਜਹਾ ਤਹਾ ਪਹੂਚੀ ਆਇ ॥੨੨੦੩॥
aookhaa ko pur tho jahaa tahaa pahoochee aae |2203|
Getting pleased, the messenger took Aniruddh with her and reached the city of Usha.2203.

ਤ੍ਰੀਅ ਪੀਅ ਦਯੋ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਚਤੁਰ ਤ੍ਰੀਅ ਕਰਿ ਚਤੁਰਤਾ ॥

That woman caused cleverly the meeting of both-the lover and the beloved
ਕੀਯੋ ਭੋਗ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਊਖਾ ਅਰੁ ਅਨਰੁਧ ਮਿਲ ॥੨੨੦੪॥
keeyo bhog sukh paae aookhaa ar anarudh mil |2204|
Usha and Aniruddh then enjoyed the union with great delight.2204.

ਚਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਕੋ ਭੋਗ ਕੀਓ ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਹੀਯੈ ਮੈ ਬਢੈ ਕੈ ॥
chaar prakaar ko bhog keeo nar naar hulaas heeyai mai badtai kai |
ਆਸਨ ਕੋਕ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਜਿਤੇ ਕਬਿ ਭਾਖਤ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਸਬੈ ਇਨ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
aasan kok ke beech jite kab bhaakhat hai su sabai in kai kai |
Getting pleased in their mind following the instruction of Koka Pundit about the postures of the union, they enjoyed the sexual union through four kinds of postures
ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਅਨਰੁਧ ਕਛੂ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਸੰਗ ਨੈਨ ਨਚੈ ਕੈ ॥
baat kahee anarudh kachhoo musakaae treea sang nain nachai kai |
ਜਿਉ ਹਮਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੁਇ ਰਹੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤਿਉ ਹਮ ਹੂ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਰਹੈ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥੨੨੦੫॥
jiau hamaree tum hue rahee sundar tiau ham hoo tumare rahai hvai kai |2205|
Aniruddh said smilingly to Usha, causing his eyes to dance, “Just as you are mine, I have also become thine in the same manner.”2205.
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਥੀ ਜੁ ਧੁਜਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਗਿਰੀ ਭੂਅ ਪੈ ਲਖਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
sundar thee ju dhujaa nrip kee su giree bhooa pai lakh bhoopat paayo |
On this side the king saw that his pretty banner had fallen down on the ground
ਜੋ ਬਰੁ ਦਾਨ ਦਯੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਵਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਯੋ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਸੁ ਜਨਾਯੋ ॥
jo bar daan dayo muhi rudr vahai pragattiyo chit mai su janaayo |
He came to know in his mind that the boon bestowed on him by Rudra was going to become a reality
ਤਉ ਹੀ ਲਉ ਆਇ ਕਹੀ ਇਕ ਯੌ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੋ ਕੋਊ ਆਯੋ ॥
tau hee lau aae kahee ik yau tumaree duhitaa grih mo koaoo aayo |
At the same time, someone came to tell him that someone was living with his daughter in his house
ਯੌ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਾਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਰੋਸ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੦੬॥
yau nrip baat chaliyo sun kai apane chit mai at ros badtaayo |2206|
Hearing this and getting infuriated, the king went there.2206.
ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਤ ਕੋਪ ਭਯੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਰੋਸ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
aavat hee kar sasatr sanbhaarat kop bhayo chit ros badtaayo |
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਪੌਤ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਹੂ ਕੇ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
kaanrah ke pauatr so sayaam bhanai duhitaa hoo ke mandar judh machaayo |
On coming, and holding his weapons with great fury, he began to fight with the son of Krishna in the house of his daughter
ਹੁਇ ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਜਬ ਸੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
hue bisanbhaar pariyo jab so tab hee ih ke kar bheetar aayo |
ਨਾਦ ਬਜਾਇ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਸਭੋ ਬਲੁ ਲੈ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਧਾਮਿ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੦੭॥
naad bajaae dikhaae sabho bal lai ih ko nrip dhaam sidhaayo |2207|
When he fell down, then the king playing his horn and taking the son of Krishna with him, went towards his house.2207.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਪੌਤ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਬਾਧ ਕੈ ਭੂਪ ਫਿਰਿਯੋ ਉਤ ਨਾਰਦ ਜਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
kaanrah ke pauatr ko baadh kai bhoop firiyo ut naarad jaae sunaaee |
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਚਲੋ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਕਹਾ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਜਦੁਵੀ ਸਭ ਸੈਨ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
kaanrah chalo utth baitthe kahaa apunee jaduvee sabh sain banaaee |
On this side, the king bound down the son of Krishna and started, and on the other side, Narada told everything to Krishna. Narada said, “O Krishna! get up and march with all the Yadava army
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਚਲੇ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਕਰੋਧ ਬਢਾਈ ॥
yau sun sayaam chale bateeyaa apune chit mai at karodh badtaaee |
Krishna also hearing this in great rage moved
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਸਭੈ ਰਿਸ ਸੋ ਜਿਨ ਕੋ ਅਸ ਤੇਜੁ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੨੨੦੮॥
sasatr sanbhaar sabhai ris so jin ko as tej lakhiyo neh jaaee |2208|
It was very difficult to see the effulgence of Krishna, when he carried his weapons.2208.

ਬਤੀਆ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਕੀ ਸਕਲ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਸੈਨ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
bateea sun mun kee sakal jadupat sain banaae |
ਜਹਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਪੁਰ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਹਿ ਹੀ ਪਹੁਚਿਯੋ ਆਇ ॥੨੨੦੯॥
jeh bhoopat ko pur huto teh hee pahuchiyo aae |2209|
Hearing the words of the sage, Krishna taking all his army alongwith him, reached there, where there was the city of the king Sahasrabahu.2209.

ਆਵਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੀ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਛਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਨ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
aavat sayaam jee ko sun kai nrip mantr puchhiyo tin mantran deeno |
Hearing about the coming of Krishna, the king consulted his ministers
ਏਕ ਕਹੀ ਹਮ ਜੋ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਇਹ ਦੈ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਨ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
ek kahee ham jo duhitaa ih dai su kahiyo tuhi maan na leeno |
The ministers said, “They have come to take your daughter and you do not accept this proposition
ਮਾਗ ਲਯੋ ਸਿਵ ਤੇ ਰਨ ਕੋ ਬਰੁ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਭਯੋ ਮਤਿ ਹੀਨੋ ॥
maag layo siv te ran ko bar jaanat hai too bhayo mat heeno |
ਛੋਰਿਹੋ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਆਜੁ ਸੁ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਇਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਨ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੨੧੧੦॥
chhoriho dvai kar ke kar aaj su sree brijanaath ihai pran keeno |2110|
“You have asked for and got the boon from Shiva without understanding (its mystery), but on that side, Krishna has also avowed, therefore it will be wise to release both Usha and Aniruddh and also pay tribute to Krishna2210.
ਮਾਨੋ ਤੋ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਏਕ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਨ ਮੈ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਧਰੀਐ ॥
maano to baat kaho nrip ek jo sraunan mai hit kai dhareeai |
ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਅਨਰੁਧ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਇਨ ਪੈ ਪਰੀਐ ॥
duhitaa anarudh ko lai apune sang sayaam ke paaein pai pareeai |
“O king! if you agree with us, then we say, take both Usha and Aniruddh with you and fall at the feet of Krishna.
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪਾਇ ਪਰੈ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਨਹੀ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬੈ ਲਰੀਐ ॥
tumare nrip paae parai suneeai nahee sayaam ke sang kabai lareeai |
“O king! we fall at your feet, never engage in fight with Krishna
ਅਰਿਹੋ ਨ ਜੋ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਭੂਅ ਪੈ ਤਬ ਰਾਜੁ ਸਦਾ ਕਰੀਐ ॥੨੨੧੧॥
ariho na jo sayaam bhanai har so bhooa pai tab raaj sadaa kareeai |2211|
There will be no other enemy like Krishna and if this enemy is converted into a friend, then you can rule all the world for ever.2211.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਜੋ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਰਿ ਜੋ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
sree brij naaeik jo ris kai ran mai kar jo dhan saarang lai hai |
ਕਉਨ ਬਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਯੋ ਭੂਅ ਪੈ ਤੁਮ ਹੂ ਨ ਕਹੋ ਬਲਿ ਜੋ ਠਹਰੈ ਹੈ ॥
kaun balee pragattiyo bhooa pai tum hoo na kaho bal jo tthaharai hai |
“When Krishna in his fury will take his bow and arrows is his hands, then you may tell who else is more powerful, who will stay against him?
ਜੋ ਹਠ ਕੈ ਭਿਰਿਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਕਉ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਜਮਲੋਕਿ ਪਠੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo hatth kai bhirihai tih so tih kau chhin mai jamalok patthai hai |
“He, who will fight with him, in persistence, he will dispatch him to the abode of Yama in an instant
ਅਉਰ ਭੁਜਾ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਬ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਭੁਜ ਰਾਖਿ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਬਚੈ ਹੈ ॥੨੨੧੨॥
aaur bhujaa katt kai tumaree sab dvai bhuj raakh tvai praan bachai hai |2212|
He will chop all your arms except the two and release you alive.”2212.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਮਾਨਤ ਭਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਪਨੋ ਓਜ ਅਖੰਡ ਜਨਾਯੋ ॥
mantree kee baat na maanat bhayo nrip aapano oj akhandd janaayo |
Not accepting the advice of his minister, the king considered his power as indestructible
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਨ ਮੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਬੀਰਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਗਰਬਾਯੋ ॥
sasatr sanbhaar kai haathan mai fun beeran mai at hee garabaayo |
Taking up his weapons, he began to move amongst the warriors
ਸੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਹੁਤੋ ਜਿਤਨੋ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਪਨੇ ਧਾਮਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
sain prachandd huto jitano tis kau nrip aapane dhaam bulaayo |
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਮਨਾਇ ਜਨਾਇ ਘਨੋ ਬਲੁ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਸੋ ਲਰਬੈ ਕਹੁ ਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੧੩॥
rudr manaae janaae ghano bal sayaam joo so larabai kahu dhaayo |2213|
He called his powerful army near him and started moving for fighting with Krishna with all his strength after worshipping Shiva.2213.
ਉਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਇਤ ਤੇ ਦਸ ਸੈ ਭੁਜ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
aut sayaam joo baan chalaavat bhayo it te das sai bhuj baan chalaae |
On this side, Krishna is discharging his arrows and from that side Sahasrabahu is doing the same
ਜਾਦਵ ਆਵਤ ਭੇ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਇਤ ਤੇ ਇਨ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਭਟ ਧਾਏ ॥
jaadav aavat bhe ut te it te in ke sabh hee bhatt dhaae |
From that side Yadavas were coming and from this side, the warriors of the king fell upon them
ਘਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਮਿਲ ਆਪਸ ਮੈ ਤਿਨ ਯੌ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
ghaae karai mil aapas mai tin yau upamaa kab sayaam sunaae |
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਫਾਗੁਨ ਕੀ ਰੁਤਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਖੇਲਨ ਬੀਰ ਬਸੰਤਹਿ ਆਏ ॥੨੨੧੪॥
maanahu faagun kee rut bheetar khelan beer basanteh aae |2214|
They were mutually inflicting like the warriors roaming and playing Holi in spring season.2214.
ਏਕ ਭਿਰੇ ਕਰਵਾਰਿਨ ਸੌ ਭਟ ਏਕ ਭਿਰੇ ਬਰਛੀ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
ek bhire karavaarin sau bhatt ek bhire barachhee kar lai kai |
ਏਕ ਕਟਾਰਿਨ ਸੰਗ ਭਿਰੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਅਤਿ ਰੋਸਿ ਬਢੈ ਕੈ ॥
ek kattaarin sang bhire kab sayaam bhanai at ros badtai kai |
Someone is fighting with the sword, someone with the lance someone with the dagger in great anger
ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨਨ ਕਉ ਇਕ ਬੀਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਤ ਭੇ ਅਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥
baan kamaanan kau ik beer sanbhaarat bhe at krudhat hvai kai |
ਕਉਤੁਕ ਦੇਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਉਤ ਭੂਪ ਇਤੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥੨੨੧੫॥
kautuk dekhat bhayo ut bhoop itai brij naaeik aanand kai kai |2215|
Someone taking his bow and arrows is getting enraged, from that side the king and from this side Krishna, are seeing this spectacle.2215.
ਜਾ ਭਟ ਆਹਵ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
jaa bhatt aahav mai kab sayaam kahai bhagavaan so judh machaayo |
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਨ ਸੋ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਧਰਾ ਪਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥
taahee ko ek hee baan so sayaam dharaa par kai bin praan giraayo |
Those warriors who fought with Krishna, they were knocked down by Krishna and thrown on the earth with a single arrow
ਜੋ ਧਨੁ ਬਾਨਿ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਬਲੀ ਕੋਊ ਅਉ ਇਹ ਕੇ ਰਿਸਿ ਊਪਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
jo dhan baan sanbhaar balee koaoo aau ih ke ris aoopar aayo |
ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੇ ਅਪਨੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਕੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੧੬॥
so kab sayaam bhane apanai grihi ko fir jeevat jaan na paayo |2216|
Any powerful warrior, taking his bow and arrows in his hands and in fury, fell upon him, the poet Shyam says that he could not return alive.2216.
ਗੋਕੁਲ ਨਾਥ ਜੂ ਬੈਰਿਨ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਰਨ ਮਾਡਿਯੋ ॥
gokul naath joo bairin so kab sayaam bhanai jab hee ran maaddiyo |
ਜੇਤਿਕ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਭੇ ਰਿਸਿ ਸੋ ਸਭਿ ਗਿਧ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਾਲਨ ਬਾਡਿਯੋ ॥
jetik satran saamuhe bhe ris so sabh gidh sringaalan baaddiyo |
When Krishna, the Lord of Gokul fought with his enemies, then all those enemies who were in front of him, he killed them in his anger, distributed them amongst the vultures and jackals
ਪਤਿ ਰਥੀ ਗਜਿ ਬਾਜ ਘਨੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੀਏ ਕੋਊ ਜੀਤ ਨ ਛਾਡਿਯੋ ॥
pat rathee gaj baaj ghane bin praan kee koaoo jeet na chhaaddiyo |
ਦੇਵ ਸਰਾਹਤ ਭੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁ ਭਲੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਅਖੰਡਨ ਖਾਡਿਯੋ ॥੨੨੧੭॥
dev saraahat bhe sabh hee su bhale bhagavaan akhanddan khaaddiyo |2217|
He made many warriors on foot and on chariots lifeless and also killed many elephants and horses and did not let anyone go alive, all the gods also praised him that Krishna had destroyed even the indestructible warriors.2217.
ਜੀਤੇ ਸਭੈ ਭਯ ਭੀਤ ਭਏ ਤਜਿ ਆਹਵ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਭਟ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
jeete sabhai bhay bheet bhe taj aahav ko sabh hee bhatt bhaage |
The conquered and frightened warriors left fighting and fled away
ਠਾਢੋ ਬਨਾਸੁਰ ਥੋ ਜਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਸਭੈ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਇਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
tthaadto banaasur tho jih tthaur sabhai chal kai tih paaein laage |
And where banasura was standing, they came there and rolled down at his feet
ਛੂਟ ਗਯੋ ਸਭਹੂਨ ਤੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਹਿ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਮੈ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੇ ॥
chhoott gayo sabhahoon te dheeraj traaseh ke ras mai anuraage |
On account of fear, the endurance of all of them ended and they were saying,
ਭਾਖਤ ਭੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਭਜੀਐ ਬਚ ਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ॥੨੨੧੮॥
bhaakhat bhe nrip so bhajeeai bach hai na koaoo brijanaath ke aage |2218|
“No one will survive before Krishna, O king! we should run away.”2218.
ਭੀਰ ਪਰੀ ਜਬ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਪੈ ਤਬ ਆਪਨੇ ਜਾਨ ਕੈ ਈਸ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bheer paree jab bhoopat pai tab aapane jaan kai ees nihaariyo |
ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਇ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ਭਿਰਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਸੋ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sant sahaae ko jaae bhiriyo brij naaeik so chit beech bichaariyo |
When the king found himself in calamitous state, he remembered Shiva and Shiva also felt that the king had come to fight with Krishna, the supporter of the saints
ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਓਰ ਸੁ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
aayudh lai apane sabh hee har or su judh ke kaaj sidhaariyo |
He taking his weapons in his hands went towards Krishna for fighting
ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਸੁ ਕਹੋ ਅਬ ਹਉ ਜਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਦੁਹੂ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੨੧੯॥
aavat hee su kaho ab hau jih bhaat duhoo tih tthaa ran paariyo |2219|
Now I relate how he waged a dreadful war.2219.
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜਬੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਰਿਸਿ ਨਾਦ ਬਜਾਯੋ ॥
rudr hvai rudr jabai ran mai kab sayaam bhanai ris naad bajaayo |
ਸੂਰ ਨ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਨੈਕੁ ਟਿਕਿਯੋ ਗਯੋ ਭਾਜ ਗਏ ਨ ਰਤੀ ਕੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਯੋ ॥
soor na kaahoon te naik ttikiyo gayo bhaaj ge na ratee ku drirraayo |
When in extreme anger, Shiva blew his war-arena, then none of the warriors could stay there even for a very short time
ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਦੁਹੂ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਰੋਖ ਹਲੀ ਸੁ ਸੋਊ ਡਰ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
satran ke duhoo satran sang lai rokh halee su soaoo ddar paayo |
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਸੋ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਵ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੨੦॥
sree brijanaath so sayaam bhanai tab hee siv aae kai judh machaayo |2220|
The enemies from both sides became fearful, when Shiva began his fight with Krishna.2220.
ਜੇ ਸਭ ਘਾਇ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਸਿਵ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਬਚਾਏ ॥
je sabh ghaae chalaavat bhayo siv te sabh hee brijanaath bachaae |
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸਿਵ ਕੋ ਆਪੁਨੇ ਸਭ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੇ ਤਕਿ ਘਾਇ ਲਗਾਏ ॥
taun samai siv ko aapune sabh sayaam bhane tak ghaae lagaae |
Krishna saved himself form the blows of Shiva and making Shiva as target, he wounded him
ਜੁਧੁ ਕੀਯੋ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਦੁਹੂ ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਰ ਦੇਖਨ ਆਏ ॥
judh keeyo bahu bhaat duhoo jih ko sabh hee sur dekhan aae |
ਅੰਤਿ ਖਿਸਾਇ ਰਿਸਾਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਿ ਏਕ ਗਦਾ ਹੂੰ ਸੋ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਗਿਰਾਏ ॥੨੨੨੧॥
ant khisaae risaae kripaanidh ek gadaa hoon so rudr giraae |2221|
Both of them fought in different ways and the gods came there to see that war and ultimately, Krishna caused highly angry Shiva to fall down with the blow of his mace.2221.

Salok, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
kaam krodh lobh chhoddeeai deejai agan jalaae |
Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, and burn them in the fire.
ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
jeevadiaa nit jaapeeai naanak saachaa naau |1|
As long as you are alive, O Nanak, meditate continually on the True Name. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਆਹਿ ॥
simarat simarat prabh aapanaa sabh fal paae aaeh |
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my God, I have obtained all the fruits.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
naanak naam araadhiaa gur poorai deea milaae |2|
O Nanak, I worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:
ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
so mukataa sansaar ji gur upadesiaa |
One who has been instructed by the Guru is liberated in this world.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
tis kee gee balaae mitte andesiaa |
He avoids disaster, and his anxiety is dispelled.
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tis kaa darasan dekh jagat nihaal hoe |
Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, the world is over-joyed.
ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
jan kai sang nihaal paapaa mail dhoe |
In the company of the Lord's humble servants, the world is over-joyed, and the filth of sin is washed away.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
amrit saachaa naau othai jaapeeai |
There, they meditate on the Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name.
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਭੁਖਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੀਐ ॥
man kau hoe santokh bhukhaa dhraapeeai |
The mind becomes content, and its hunger is satisfied.
ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੀਐ ॥
jis ghatt vasiaa naau tis bandhan kaatteeai |
One whose heart is filled with the Name, has his bonds cut away.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੀਐ ॥੫॥
gur parasaad kinai viralai har dhan khaatteeai |5|
By Guru's Grace, some rare person earns the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||5||

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਉਠਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
man meh chitvau chitavanee udam krau utth neet |
Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
har keeratan kaa aaharo har dehu naanak ke meet |1|
O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
drisatt dhaar prabh raakhiaa man tan rataa mool |
Casting His Glance of Grace, God has saved me; my mind and body are imbued with the Primal Being.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
naanak jo prabh bhaaneea mrau vichaaree sool |2|
O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God, have their cries of suffering taken away. ||2||

ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
jeea kee birathaa hoe su gur peh aradaas kar |
When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
chhodd siaanap sagal man tan arap dhar |
Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.
ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥
poojahu gur ke pair duramat jaae jar |
Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥
saadh janaa kai sang bhavajal bikham tar |
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.
ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥
sevahu satigur dev agai na marahu ddar |
Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥
khin meh kare nihaal aoone subhar bhar |
In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥
man kau hoe santokh dhiaaeeai sadaa har |
The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.
ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥
so lagaa satigur sev jaa kau karam dhur |6|
He alone dedicates himself to the Guru's service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||

ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥
lagarree suthaan jorranahaarai jorreea |
I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥
naanak laharee lakh sai aan dduban dee na maa piree |1|
O Nanak, there are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
ban bheehaavalai hik saathee ladham dukh harataa har naamaa |
In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥
bal bal jaaee sant piaare naanak pooran kaamaan |2|
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||

Pauree:
ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥
paaeean sabh nidhaan terai rang ratiaa |
All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.
ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥
n hovee pachhotaau tudh no japatiaa |
One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.
ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥
pahuch na sakai koe teree ttek jan |
No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥
gur poore vaahu vaahu sukh lahaa chitaar man |
Waaho! Waaho! How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.
ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
gur peh sifat bhanddaar karamee paaeeai |
The treasure of the Lord's Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
satigur nadar nihaal bahurr na dhaaeeai |
When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander any more.
ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥
rakhai aap deaal kar daasaa aapane |
The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥
har har har har naam jeevaa sun sune |7|
Listening, hearing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, I live. ||7||
