ਤਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਤ੍ਰੀਅ ਸਭੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਕਚਾਹੀ ॥
taeh nihaar kai sayaam see moorat treea sabhai man mai sukachaahee |
ਲਿਆਯੋ ਹੈ ਆਨਿ ਬਧੂ ਕੋਊ ਬ︀ਯਾਹਿ ਕਹੈ ਸਖੀ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਸਖੀ ਗਹਿ ਬਾਹੀ ॥
liaayo hai aan badhoo koaoo bayaeh kahai sakhee kee su sakhee geh baahee |
Seeing the likeness of Krishna in Pradyumna, the women said in their state of shyness that Krishna had then wedded and brought another damsel
ਏਕ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੈ ਉਰਿ ਓਰਿ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਭਲੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
ek nihaar kahai tih kai ur or bichaar bhale man maahee |
ਲਛਨ ਅਉਰ ਸਭੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਏਕ ਲਤਾ ਭ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਕੀ ਉਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨੦੩੩॥
lachhan aaur sabhai har ke ih ek lataa bhrig kee ur naahee |2033|
One woman, looking towards him, said in her mind, “All other signs on his body are similar to Krishna but there is no mark of the foot of the sage Bhrigu on his chest.”2033.
ਪੇਖਤ ਤਾਹਿ ਰੁਕਮਨਿ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਪਯੋਧਰ ਵਾ ਪਯ ਸੋ ਭਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
pekhat taeh rukaman ke su payodhar vaa pay so bhar aae |
Seeing Pradyumna, the teats of Rukmani were filled with milk
ਮੋਹੁ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਸੋ ਢੁਰਿ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
mohu badtiyo at hee chit mai karunaa ras so dtur bain sunaae |
In her attachment she said modestly,
ਐਸੇ ਸਖੀ ਕਹਿਓ ਮੋ ਸੁਤ ਥੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੈ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਜੁ ਛਿਨਾਏ ॥
aise sakhee kahio mo sut tho prabh dai ham ko ham te ju chhinaae |
“O friend! my son was just like him, O Lord! give back to me my own son
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਸਾਸ ਉਸਾਸ ਲਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਦੋਊ ਨੈਨ ਬਹਾਏ ॥੨੦੩੪॥
yau keh saas usaas layo kab sayaam kahai doaoo nain bahaae |2034|
” Saying thus, she heaved a long breath and the tears rushed forth from both her eyes.2034.
ਇਤਿ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਆਇ ਗਯੋ ਇਹ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਓਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਟਕ ਲਾਈ ॥
eit te brij naaeik aae gayo ih moorat or rahe ttak laaee |
Krishna came form this side and everyone began to stare at him
ਤਉ ਹੀ ਲਉ ਨਾਰਦ ਆਇ ਗਯੋ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਭਾਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
tau hee lau naarad aae gayo birathaa sabh hee tin bhaakh sunaaee |
Then Narada came and he related the whole story.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਪੂਤ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਈ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਬਧਾਈ ॥
kaanrah joo poot tihaaro ee hai ih yau sun kai pur baajee badhaaee |
He said, “O Krishna! He is your son,” hearing this, the songs of joy were sung in the whole city
ਭਾਗਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਧਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਮਨੋ ਇਹ ਦਿਵਸਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੨੦੩੫॥
bhaagan kee nidh sayaam bhanai jadubeer mano ih divaseh paaee |2035|
It appeared that Krishna had obtained an ocean of fortune.2035.

ਇਤ ਸੂਰਜ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀ ਸਤ੍ਰਾਜਿਤ ਬਲਵਾਨ ॥

ਰਵਿ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਮਨਿ ਦਈ ਉਜਲ ਆਪ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੨੦੩੬॥
rav tih ko tab man dee ujal aap samaan |2036|
The powerful Satrajit (a Yadava) served the god Surya, and he bestowed upon him the gift of jewel bright like himself.2036.

ਲੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਅਰਿ ਜੀਤ ਜੁ ਤਾ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਨੇ ਧਾਮਹਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
lai man sooraj te ar jeet ju taa din aapane dhaameh aayo |
Satrajit after taking the jewel from Surya came to his home
ਜੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਘਨੋ ਰਵਿ ਕੋ ਚਿਤ ਤਾ ਰਿਝਵਾਯੋ ॥
jo kab sayaam bhanai kar sev ghano rav ko chit taa rijhavaayo |
And he had pleased Surya after extremely faithful service
ਅਉ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਤਪਸ︀ਯਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਕਉ ਜਬ ਗਾਯੋ ॥
aau kar kai tapasayaa at hee tih kee hit so tih kau jab gaayo |
Now he performed many austere self-mortifications and sang the praises of the Lord
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਪੁਰ ਲੋਗਨ ਯੌ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥੨੦੩੭॥
so sun kai su brithaa pur logan yau jadubeer pai jaae sunaayo |2037|
Seeing him in such a state, the citizens gave his description to Krishna.2037.

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਅਰੰਜਿਤ ਕਉ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਆਇਸ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
kaanrah bulaae aranjit kau has kai mukh te ih aaeis deeno |
ਭੂਪ ਕਉ ਦੈ ਤੁ ਕਹਿਓ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਰਵਿ ਤੇ ਜੁ ਰਿਝਾਇ ਕੈ ਤੈ ਧਨੁ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
bhoop kau dai tu kahio ab hee rav te ju rijhaae kai tai dhan leeno |
Krishna called Satrajit and said to him, “The wealth of jewel that you have obtained from Surya, give that to the king”
ਜੋ ਚਹਿ ਕੈ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਚਪਲਾ ਦੁਤਿ ਯਾਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਇਨ ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
jo cheh kai chit mai chapalaa dut yaeh kahiyo in naik na keeno |
There was a flash of lighting in his mind and he did not do according to the desire of Krishna
ਮੋਨ ਹੀ ਠਾਨ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਉਤਰੁ ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੨੦੩੮॥
mon hee tthaan ke baitth rahiyo brijanaath ko utar naik na deeno |2038|
He sat silently and he also did not give any reply to Krishna’s words.2038.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਯੌ ਬਤੀਆ ਕਹਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਅਖੇਟ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਪਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
prabh yau bateea keh baitth rahiyo tih bhraat akhett ke kaaj padhaariyo |
The Lord having uttered the said words, sat silently, but his brother went away for hunting towards the forest
ਬਾਧ ਭਲੇ ਮਨਿ ਕਉ ਸਿਰ ਪੈ ਸਭ ਹੂੰ ਜਨ ਦੂਸਰ ਭਾਨੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
baadh bhale man kau sir pai sabh hoon jan doosar bhaan bichaariyo |
He was wearing the jewel on his head and it appeared that a second sun had risen
ਕਾਨਨ ਕੇ ਜਬ ਬੀਚ ਗਯੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਰਾਜ ਬਡੋ ਇਕ ਯਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
kaanan ke jab beech gayo mrigaraaj baddo ik yaeh nihaariyo |
When he went within the forest, he saw a lion there
ਤਾਨ ਕੈ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਸਰ ਵਾ ਸਹਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੦੩੯॥
taan kai baan chalaavat bhayo sar vaa seh kai ih ko fir maariyo |2039|
There he discharged several arrow one after the other towards the lion.2039.

When the arrow was shot on the head of the lion, the lion sustained his strength
ਏਕ ਚਪੇਟ ਚਉਕਿ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਰੀ ॥

ਮਨਿ ਸਮੇਤ ਲਈ ਪਾਗ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੨੦੪੦॥
man samet lee paag utaaree |2040|
He gave a slap and caused his turban to fall down alongwith the jewel.2040.

ਭਾਲਕ ਏਕ ਬਡੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਿਹਿ ਹੇਰਿਓ ਮਿਰਗਰਾਇ ॥੨੦੪੧॥
bhaalak ek baddo huto tihi herio miragaraae |2041|
After killing him and taking his turban and jewel, the lion went away to the forest, where he saw a big bear.2041.

ਭਾਲਕ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨੀ ਦੁਤਿ ਕਉ ਸੁ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਕੋਊ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਲੈ ਫਲੁ ਆਯੋ ॥
bhaalak dekh manee dut kau su lakhiyo koaoo kehar lai fal aayo |
Seeing the jewel, the bear thought that the lion was bringing some fruit
ਯਾ ਫਲ ਕਉ ਅਬ ਭਛ ਕਰੋ ਸੁ ਛੁਧਾਤਰੁ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਤਹ ਭਛਨ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
yaa fal kau ab bhachh karo su chhudhaatar hvai teh bhachhan dhaayo |
He contemplated that he was hungry, therefore he would eat that fruit
ਜ︀ਯੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਰਾਜ ਥੋ ਜਾਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਿਉ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
jayo mrigaraaj tho jaat chaliyo tiau achaanak aae kai judh machaayo |
ਏਕ ਚਪੇਟ ਚਟਾਕ ਦੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਝਟਾਕ ਦੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥੨੦੪੨॥
ek chapett chattaak dai maar jhattaak dai singh ko maar giraayo |2042|
When the lion was moving away, the bear suddenly attacked him and after dreadful battle, he killed the lion with one slap.2042.

ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਵੰਤ ॥

With your tongue, chant the Lord's Name, Raam, Raam.
ਛੋਡਿ ਆਨ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਭਜੁ ਸਦਾ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chhodd aan biauhaar mithiaa bhaj sadaa bhagavant |1| rahaau |
Renounce other false occupations, and vibrate forever on the Lord God. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਭਗਤਾ ਈਤ ਆਗੈ ਟੇਕ ॥

The One Name is the support of His devotees; in this world, and in the world hereafter, it is their anchor and support.
ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥੧॥
kar kripaa gobind deea gur giaan budh bibek |1|
In His mercy and kindness, the Guru has given me the divine wisdom of God, and a discriminating intellect. ||1||
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਹੀ ॥
karan kaaran samrath sreedhar saran taa kee gahee |
The all-powerful Lord is the Creator, the Cause of causes; He is the Master of wealth - I seek His Sanctuary.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਰਵਾਲ ਸਾਧੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਲਹੀ ॥੨॥੧੭॥੨੬॥
mukat jugat ravaal saadhoo naanak har nidh lahee |2|17|26|
Liberation and worldly success come from the dust of the feet of the Holy Saints; Nanak has obtained the Lord's treasure. ||2||17||26||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥
paarabraham paramesaro prabhoo ke gun gaau |1|
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord. ||1||
ਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਅਰਾਧਿ ॥
re chit charan kamal araadh |
O my consciousness, contemplate and adore the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਿਟੈ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਧਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab sookh kaliaan paaveh mittai sagal upaadh |1| rahaau |
You shall obtain total peace and salvation, and all troubles shall depart. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਮੀਤ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
maat pitaa sut meet bhaaee tis binaa nahee koe |
Mother, father, children, friends and siblings - without the Lord, none of them are real.
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਰਬ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
eet aoot jeea naal sangee sarab raviaa soe |2|
Here and hereafter, He is the companion of the soul; He is pervading everywhere. ||2||
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਾਮਿ ॥
kott jatan upaav mithiaa kachh na aavai kaam |
Millions of plans, tricks, and efforts are of no use, and serve no purpose.
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ॥੩॥
saran saadhoo niramalaa gat hoe prabh kai naam |3|
In the Sanctuary of the Holy, one becomes immaculate and pure, and obtains salvation, through the Name of God. ||3||
ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਊਚਾ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
agam deaal prabhoo aoochaa saran saadhoo jog |
God is profound and merciful, lofty and exalted; He gives Sanctuary to the Holy.
ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੭॥
tis paraapat naanakaa jis likhiaa dhur sanjog |4|1|27|
He alone obtains the Lord, O Nanak, who is blessed with such pre-ordained destiny to meet Him. ||4||1||27||

Serve your Guru forever, and chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੧॥
saas saas araadh har har leh jaae man kee chind |1|
With each and every breath, worship the Lord, Har, Har, in adoration, and the anxiety of your mind will be dispelled. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਾਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
mere man jaap prabh kaa naau |
O my mind, chant the Name of God.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sookh sehaj anand paaveh milee niramal thaau |1| rahaau |
You shall be blessed with peace, poise and pleasure, and you shall find the immaculate place. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥
saadhasang udhaar ihu man aatth pehar aaraadh |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, redeem your mind, and adore the Lord, twenty-four hours a day.
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਮਿਟੈ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਧਿ ॥੨॥
kaam krodh ahankaar binasai mittai sagal upaadh |2|
Sexual desire, anger and egotism will be dispelled, and all troubles shall end. ||2||
ਅਟਲ ਅਛੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਉ ॥
attal achhed abhed suaamee saran taa kee aau |
The Lord Master is immovable, immortal and inscrutable; seek His Sanctuary.
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਉ ॥੩॥
charan kamal araadh hiradai ek siau liv laau |3|
Worship in adoration the lotus feet of the Lord in your heart, and center your consciousness lovingly on Him alone. ||3||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੀਨੑੇ ਆਪਿ ॥

The Supreme Lord God has shown mercy to me, and He Himself has forgiven me.

sarab sukh har naam deea naanak so prabh jaap |4|2|28|
The Lord has given me His Name, the treasure of peace; O Nanak, meditate on that God. ||4||2||28||

Goojaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗਈ ਸੰਕਾ ਤੂਟਿ ॥
gur prasaadee prabh dhiaaeaa gee sankaa toott |
By Guru's Grace, I meditate on God, and my doubts are gone.
ਦੁਖ ਅਨੇਰਾ ਭੈ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਪਾਪ ਗਏ ਨਿਖੂਟਿ ॥੧॥
dukh aneraa bhai binaase paap ge nikhoott |1|
Pain, ignorance and fear have left me, and my sins have been dispelled. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
har har naam kee man preet |
My mind is filled with love for the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਬਚਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਧਿਆਏ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mil saadh bachan gobind dhiaae mahaa niramal reet |1| rahaau |
Meeting the Holy Saint, under His Instruction, I meditate on the Lord of the Universe, in the most immaculate way. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਫਲ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮ ॥
jaap taap anek karanee safal simarat naam |
Chanting, deep meditation and various rituals are contained in the fruitful meditative remembrance of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਕਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਭਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੨॥
kar anugrahu aap raakhe bhe pooran kaam |2|
Showing His Mercy, the Lord Himself has protected me, and all my works have been brought to fruition. ||2||
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਮਰਥ ॥
saas saas na bisar kabahoon braham prabh samarath |
With each and every breath, may I never forget You, O God, Almighty Lord and Master.
ਗੁਣ ਅਨਿਕ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਿਆ ਬਖਾਨੈ ਅਗਨਤ ਸਦਾ ਅਕਥ ॥੩॥
gun anik rasanaa kiaa bakhaanai aganat sadaa akath |3|
How can my tongue describe Your countless virtues? They are uncountable, and forever indescribable. ||3||
ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਤਾਰਣ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਣ ॥
deen darad nivaar taaran deaal kirapaa karan |
You are the Remover of the pains of the poor, the Savior, the Compassionate Lord, the Bestower of Mercy.
ਅਟਲ ਪਦਵੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੯॥
attal padavee naam simaran drirr naanak har har saran |4|3|29|
Remembering the Naam in meditation, the state of eternal dignity is obtained; Nanak has grasped the protection of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||3||29||
