ਬਨਤਾ ਕਦਰੂ ਦਿਤਿ ਅਦਿਤਿ ਏ ਰਿਖ ਬਰੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
banataa kadaroo dit adit e rikh baree banaae |
Banita, Kadaru, Diti and Aditi became the wives of sages (rishis),
ਨਾਗ ਨਾਗਰਿਪੁ ਦੇਵ ਸਭ ਦਈਤ ਲਏ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥੧੮॥
naag naagarip dev sabh deet le upajaae |18|
And Nagas, their enemies (like Garuda), the gods and demons were born to them.18.

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਕੋ ਧਰਾ ॥
taa te sooraj roop ko dharaa |
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਬੰਸ ਪ੍ਰਚੁਰ ਰਵਿ ਕਰਾ ॥
jaa te bans prachur rav karaa |
From that (Aditi), the sun was born, from whom Suraj Vansh (the Sun dynasty) originated.
ਜੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਹਿ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨਾਊ ॥
jo tin ke keh naam sunaaoo |
ਕਥਾ ਬਢਨ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਡਰਾਊ ॥੧੯॥
kathaa badtan te adhik ddaraaoo |19|
If I describe the names of the kings of this of this clan, I fear a great extension of the story.19.
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਘੁ ਭਯੋ ॥
tin ke bans bikhai ragh bhayo |
ਰਘੁਬੰਸਹਿ ਜਿਹ ਜਗਹਿ ਚਲਯੋ ॥
raghubanseh jih jageh chalayo |
In this clan, there was a king named Raghu, who was the originator of Raghuvansh (the clan of Raghu) in the world.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਤ ਭਯੋ ਅਜ ਬਰ ॥
taa te putr hot bhayo aj bar |
ਮਹਾ ਰਥੀ ਅਰ ਮਹਾ ਧਨੁਰ ਧਰ ॥੨੦॥
mahaa rathee ar mahaa dhanur dhar |20|
He had a great son Aja, a mighty warrior and superb archer.20.
ਜਬ ਤਿਨ ਭੇਸ ਜੋਗ ਕੋ ਲਯੋ ॥
jab tin bhes jog ko layo |
ਰਾਜ ਪਾਟ ਦਸਰਥ ਕੋ ਦਯੋ ॥
raaj paatt dasarath ko dayo |
When he renounced the world as a Yogi, he passed on his kingdom to his son Dastratha.
ਹੋਤ ਭਯੋ ਵਹ ਮਹਾ ਧਨੁਰ ਧਰ ॥
hot bhayo veh mahaa dhanur dhar |
ਤੀਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਆਨ ਬਰਾ ਜਿਹ ਰੁਚਿ ਕਰ ॥੨੧॥
teen triaan baraa jih ruch kar |21|
Who had been a great archer and had married three wives with pleasure.21.
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਜਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਰਾਮ ਕੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
pritham jayo tih raam kumaaraa |
ਭਰਥ ਲੱਛਮਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੁਬਿਦਾਰਾ ॥
bharath lachhaman satrubidaaraa |
The eldest one gave birth to Rama, the others gave birth to Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughan.
ਬਹੁਤ ਕਾਲ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਜ ਕਮਾਯੋ ॥
bahut kaal tin raaj kamaayo |
ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਸੁਰਪੁਰਹਿ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੨॥
kaal paae surapureh sidhaayo |22|
They ruled over their kingdom for a long time, after which they left for their heavenly abode.22.
ਸੀਅ ਸੁਤ ਬਹੁਰ ਭਏ ਦੁਇ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
seea sut bahur bhe due raajaa |
ਰਾਜ ਪਾਟ ਉਨਹੀ ਕਉ ਛਾਜਾ ॥
raaj paatt unahee kau chhaajaa |
After that the two sons of Sita (and Rama) became the kings.
ਮੱਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਸ ਏਸ੍ਵਰਜਾ ਬਰੀ ਜਬ ॥
madr des esvarajaa baree jab |
ਭਾਂਤਿ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕੇ ਜੱਗ ਕੀਏ ਤਬ ॥੨੩॥
bhaant bhaant ke jag kee tab |23|
They married the Punjabi princesses and performed various types of sacrifices.23.
ਤਹੀ ਤਿਨੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਦੁਇ ਪੁਰਵਾ ॥
tahee tine baadhe due puravaa |
ਏਕ ਕਸੂਰ ਦੁਤੀਯ ਲਹੁਰਵਾ ॥
ek kasoor duteey lahuravaa |
There they founded two cities, the one Kasur and the other Lahore.
ਅਧਿਕ ਪੁਰੀ ਤੇ ਦੋਊ ਬਿਰਾਜੀ ॥
adhik puree te doaoo biraajee |
ਨਿਰਖ ਲੰਕ ਅਮਰਾਵਤਿ ਲਾਜੀ ॥੨੪॥
nirakh lank amaraavat laajee |24|
Both the cities surpassed in beauty to that of Lanka and Amravati. 24.
ਬਹੁਤ ਕਾਲ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਜ ਕਮਾਯੋ ॥
bahut kaal tin raaj kamaayo |
ਜਾਲ ਕਾਲ ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਫਸਾਯੋ ॥
jaal kaal te ant fasaayo |
For a long time, both the brothers ruled over their kingdom and ultimately they were bound down by the noose of death.
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੌਤ੍ਰ ਜੇ ਵਏ ॥
tin te putr pauatr je ve |
ਰਾਜ ਕਰਤ ਇਹ ਜਗ ਕੋ ਭਏ ॥੨੫॥
raaj karat ih jag ko bhe |25|
After them their sons and grandson ruled over the world.25.
ਕਹਾ ਲਗੇ ਤੇ ਬਰਨ ਸੁਨਾਊਂ ॥
kahaa lage te baran sunaaoon |
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਨ ਸੰਖ︀ਯਾ ਪਾਊਂ ॥
tin ke naam na sankhayaa paaoon |
They were innumerable, therefore it is difficult to describe all.
ਹੋਤ ਚਹੂੰ ਜੁਗ ਮੈਂ ਜੇ ਆਏ ॥
hot chahoon jug main je aae |
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਗਨਾਏ ॥੨੬॥
tin ke naam na jaat ganaae |26|
It is not possible to count the names of all those who ruled over their kingdoms in all the four ages.26.
ਜੌ ਅਬ ਤਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਬਲ ਪਾਊਂ ॥
jau ab tau kirapaa bal paaoon |
ਨਾਮ ਜਥਾ ਮਤਿ ਭਾਖ ਸੁਨਾਊਂ ॥
naam jathaa mat bhaakh sunaaoon |
If now you shower your grace upon me, I shall describe (a few) names, as I know them.
ਕਾਲਕੇਤੁ ਅਰ ਕਾਲਰਾਇ ਭਨ ॥
kaalaket ar kaalaraae bhan |
ਜਿਨ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਘਰ ਅਨਗਨ ॥੨੭॥
jin te bhe putr ghar anagan |27|
Kalket and Kal Rai had innumerable descendants.27.
ਕਾਲਕੇਤੁ ਭਯੋ ਬਲੀ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
kaalaket bhayo balee apaaraa |
ਕਾਲਰਾਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
kaalaraae jin nagar nikaaraa |
Kalket was a mighty warrior, who drove out Kal Rai from his city.
ਭਾਜ ਸਨੌਢ ਦੇਸ ਤੇ ਗਏ ॥
bhaaj sanauadt des te ge |
ਤਹੀ ਭੂਪਜਾ ਬਿਆਹਤ ਭਏ ॥੨੮॥
tahee bhoopajaa biaahat bhe |28|
Kal Rai settled in the country named Sanaudh and married the king’s daughter.28.
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਭਯੋ ਜੋ ਧਾਮਾ ॥
tih te putr bhayo jo dhaamaa |
ਸੋਢੀਰਾਇ ਧਰਾ ਤਿਹਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
sodteeraae dharaa tihi naamaa |
A son was born to him, who was named Sodhi Rai.
ਵੰਸ ਸਨੌਢ ਤਾ ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਥੀਆ ॥
vans sanauadt taa din te theea |
ਪਰਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਜੂ ਕੀਆ ॥੨੯॥
param pavitr purakh joo keea |29|
Sodhi Rai was the founder of Sanaudh dynasty by the Will of the Supreme Purusha.29.
ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਪੌਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਆਏ ॥
taan te putr pauatr hoe aae |
ਤੇ ਸੋਢੀ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
te sodtee sabh jagat kahaae |
His sons and grandsons were called sodhis.
ਜਗ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੁ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧਾ ॥
jag mai adhik su bhe prasadhaa |
ਦਿਨ ਦਿਨ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਧਨ ਕੀ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਧਾ ॥੩੦॥
din din tin ke dhan kee bradhaa |30|
They became very famous in the world and gradually prospered in wealth.30.
ਰਾਜ ਕਰਤ ਭਏ ਬਿਬਿਧ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
raaj karat bhe bibidh prakaaraa |
ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਰਾ ॥
des des ke jeet nripaaraa |
They ruled over the country in various ways and subdued kings of many countries.
ਜਹਾਂ ਤਹਾਂ ਤਿਹ ਧਰਮ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
jahaan tahaan tih dharam chalaayo |
ਅੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਹ ਸੀਸ ਢੁਰਾਯੋ ॥੩੧॥
atr patr keh sees dturaayo |31|
They extended their Dharma everywhere and had the royal canopy over their head.31.
ਰਾਜਸੂਅ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰਨ ਕੀਏ ॥
raajasooa bahu baaran kee |
ਜੀਤ ਜੀਤ ਦੇਸੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਲੀਏ ॥
jeet jeet desesvar lee |
They performed Rajasu sacrifice several times declaring themselves as supreme rulers, after conquering kings of various countries.
ਬਾਜਮੇਧ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰਨ ਕਰੇ ॥
baajamedh bahu baaran kare |
ਸਕਲ ਕਲੂਖ ਨਿਜ ਕੁਲ ਕੇ ਹਰੇ ॥੩੨॥
sakal kalookh nij kul ke hare |32|
They performed Bajmedh-sacrifice (horse—sacrifice) several times, clearing their dynasty of all the blemishes.32.
ਬਹੁਰ ਬੰਸ ਮੈ ਬਢੋ ਬਿਖਾਧਾ ॥
bahur bans mai badto bikhaadhaa |
ਮੇਟ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਕੋਊ ਤਿਂਹ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
mett na sakaa koaoo tinh saadhaa |
After that there arose quarrels and differences within the dynasty, and none could set the things right.
ਬਿਚਰੇ ਬੀਰ ਬਨੈਤ ਅਖੰਡਲ ॥
bichare beer banait akhanddal |
ਗਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਚਲੇ ਭਿਰਨ ਰਨ ਮੰਡਲ ॥੩੩॥
geh geh chale bhiran ran manddal |33|
The great warriors and archers moved towards the battlefield for a fight.33.
ਧਨ ਅਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਬੈਰਾ ॥
dhan ar bhoom puraatan bairaa |
ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਮੂਆ ਕਰਤ ਜਗ ਘੇਰਾ ॥
jin kaa mooaa karat jag gheraa |
The world hath perished after quarrel on wealth and property from very olden times.
ਮੋਹ ਬਾਦ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
moh baad ahankaar pasaaraa |
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਜੀਤਾ ਜਗ ਸਾਰਾ ॥੩੪॥
kaam krodh jeetaa jag saaraa |34|
The attachment, ego and infights spread widely and the world was conquered by lust and anger.34.

ਸਰਣਿ ਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ॥

The Guru is Merciful; we seek the Sanctuary of God.
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਐ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
satagur kai upadesiai binase sarab janjaal |
Through the Teachings of the True Guru, all worldly entanglements are eliminated.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਲਗਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
andar lagaa raam naam amrit nadar nihaal |1|
The Name of the Lord is firmly implanted within my mind; through His Ambrosial Glance of Grace, I am exalted and enraptured. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
man mere satigur sevaa saar |
O my mind, serve the True Guru.
ਕਰੇ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kare deaa prabh aapanee ik nimakh na manahu visaar | rahaau |
God Himself grants His Grace; do not forget Him, even for an instant. ||Pause||
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵੀਅਹਿ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਕਟਣਹਾਰ ॥
gun govind nit gaaveeeh avagun kattanahaar |
Continually sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, the Destroyer of demerits.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਕਰਿ ਡਿਠੇ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
bin har naam na sukh hoe kar dditthe bisathaar |
Without the Name of the Lord, there is no peace. Having tried all sorts of ostentatious displays, I have come to see this.
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
sahaje sifatee ratiaa bhavajal utare paar |2|
Intuitively imbued with His Praises, one is saved, crossing over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਤੀਰਥ ਵਰਤ ਲਖ ਸੰਜਮਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
teerath varat lakh sanjamaa paaeeai saadhoo dhoor |
The merits of pilgrimages, fasts and hundreds of thousands of techniques of austere self-discipline are found in the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਲੂਕਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
look kamaavai kis te jaa vekhai sadaa hadoor |
From whom are you trying to hide your actions? God sees all;
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
thaan thanantar rav rahiaa prabh meraa bharapoor |3|
He is Ever-present. My God is totally pervading all places and interspaces. ||3||
ਸਚੁ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
sach paatisaahee amar sach sache sachaa thaan |
True is His Empire, and True is His Command. True is His Seat of True Authority.
ਸਚੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰੀਅਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਿਰਜਿਓਨੁ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥
sachee kudarat dhaareean sach sirajion jahaan |
True is the Creative Power which He has created. True is the world which He has fashioned.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੮੬॥
naanak japeeai sach naam hau sadaa sadaa kurabaan |4|16|86|
O Nanak, chant the True Name; I am forever and ever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||16||86||

Make the effort, and chant the Lord's Name. O very fortunate ones, earn this wealth.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਣਾ ਮਲੁ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਟਿ ॥੧॥
santasang har simaranaa mal janam janam kee kaatt |1|
In the Society of the Saints, meditate in remembrance on the Lord, and wash off the filth of countless incarnations. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
man mere raam naam jap jaap |
O my mind, chant and meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਫਲ ਭੁੰਚਿ ਤੂ ਸਭੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਸੋਗੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man ichhe fal bhunch too sabh chookai sog santaap | rahaau |
Enjoy the fruits of your mind's desires; all suffering and sorrow shall depart. ||Pause||
ਜਿਸੁ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਤਨੁ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
jis kaaran tan dhaariaa so prabh dditthaa naal |
For His sake, you assumed this body; see God always with you.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
jal thal maheeal pooriaa prabh aapanee nadar nihaal |2|
God is pervading the water, the land and the sky; He sees all with His Glance of Grace. ||2||
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥
man tan niramal hoeaa laagee saach pareet |
The mind and body become spotlessly pure, enshrining love for the True Lord.
ਚਰਣ ਭਜੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
charan bhaje paarabraham ke sabh jap tap tin hee keet |3|
One who dwells upon the Feet of the Supreme Lord God has truly performed all meditations and austerities. ||3||
ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਮਾਣਿਕਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
ratan javehar maanikaa amrit har kaa naau |
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is a Gem, a Jewel, a Pearl.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਰਸ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੮੭॥
sookh sehaj aanand ras jan naanak har gun gaau |4|17|87|
The essence of intuitive peace and bliss is obtained, O servant Nanak, by singing the Glories of God. ||4||17||87||

soee saasat saun soe jit japeeai har naau |
That is the essence of the scriptures, and that is a good omen, by which one comes to chant the Name of the Lord.
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥
charan kamal gur dhan deea miliaa nithaave thaau |
The Guru has given me the Wealth of the Lotus Feet of the Lord, and I, without shelter, have now obtained Shelter.
ਸਾਚੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
saachee poonjee sach sanjamo aatth pehar gun gaau |
The True Capital, and the True Way of Life, comes by chanting His Glories, twenty-four hours a day.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥
kar kirapaa prabh bhettiaa maran na aavan jaau |1|
Granting His Grace, God meets us, and we no longer die, or come or go in reincarnation. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
mere man har bhaj sadaa ik rang |
O my mind, vibrate and meditate forever on the Lord, with single-minded love.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar rav rahiaa sadaa sahaaee sang |1| rahaau |
He is contained deep within each and every heart. He is always with you, as your Helper and Support. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਖਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਿਆ ਗਣੀ ਜਾ ਸਿਮਰੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ॥

How can I measure the happiness of meditating on the Lord of the Universe?
ਜਿਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਿਆ ਉਹ ਰਸੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥
jin chaakhiaa se tripataasiaa uh ras jaanai jind |
Those who taste it are satisfied and fulfilled; their souls know this Sublime Essence.
ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥
santaa sangat man vasai prabh preetam bakhasind |
In the Society of the Saints, God, the Beloved, the Forgiver, comes to dwell within the mind.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋਈ ਰਾਜ ਨਰਿੰਦੁ ॥੨॥
jin seviaa prabh aapanaa soee raaj narind |2|
One who has served his God is the emperor of kings||2||
ਅਉਸਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਣ ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਜਨ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
aausar har jas gun raman jit kott majan isanaan |
This is the time to speak and sing the Praise and the Glory of God, which brings the merit of millions of cleansing and purifying baths.
ਰਸਨਾ ਉਚਰੈ ਗੁਣਵਤੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪੁਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
rasanaa ucharai gunavatee koe na pujai daan |
The tongue which chants these Praises is worthy; there is no charity equal to this.
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
drisatt dhaar man tan vasai deaal purakh miharavaan |
Blessing us with His Glance of Grace, the Kind and Compassionate, All-powerful Lord comes to dwell within the mind and body.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਹਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
jeeo pindd dhan tis daa hau sadaa sadaa kurabaan |3|
My soul, body and wealth are His. Forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||3||
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
miliaa kade na vichhurrai jo meliaa karataar |
One whom the Creator Lord has met and joined to Himself shall never again be separated.
ਦਾਸਾ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਟਿਆ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿ ॥
daasaa ke bandhan kattiaa saachai sirajanahaar |
The True Creator Lord breaks the bonds of His slave.
ਭੂਲਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
bhoolaa maarag paaeon gun avagun na beechaar |
The doubter has been put back on the path; his merits and demerits have not been considered.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਿ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੮੮॥
naanak tis saranaagatee ji sagal ghattaa aadhaar |4|18|88|
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the One who is the Support of every heart. ||4||18||88||
