DOHRA
ਜੁਧ ਇਤੋ ਇਤ ਹੋਤ ਭਯੋ ਉਤ ਹਰਿ ਹੇਤ ਸਹਾਇ ॥

ਪਾਚੋ ਪਾਡਵ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਪਹੁਚੇ ਆਇ ॥੧੫੯੦॥
paacho paaddav sayaam bhan tih tthaa pahuche aae |1590|
On this side the war is continuing and on that side, the five Pandavas reached for the help of Krishna.1590.
ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਹਨੀ ਦਲੁ ਲੀਏ ਰਥ ਪੈਦਲ ਗਜ ਬਾਜ ॥
bahut chhohanee dal lee rath paidal gaj baaj |
With them there were several extremely big military units alongwith chariots, soldiers on foot, elephants and horses
ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਤਹ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਹਿਤ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ॥੧੫੯੧॥
aavat hai teh sayaam keh jadupat hit ke kaaj |1591|
They all came there for the support of Krishna.1591.
ਛੋਹਣ ਦੋਇ ਮਲੇਛ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੈਨਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
chhohan doe malechh hai tih sainaa ke sang |
ਕਵਚੀ ਖੜਗੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਧਰਿ ਕਟਿ ਮਧਿ ਕਸੇ ਨਿਖੰਗਿ ॥੧੫੯੨॥
kavachee kharragee sakat dhar katt madh kase nikhang |1592|
There were with them two extremely large military units of malechhas which were bedecked with armours, daggers and shaktis (lances).1592.

ਮੀਰ ਅਉ ਸਯਦ ਸੇਖ ਪਠਾਨ ਸਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਪ ਕੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਾਏ ॥
meer aau sayad sekh patthaan sabai tih bhoop ke aoopar dhaae |
Mirs, Sayyads, Sheikhs and Pathans all fell upon the king
ਕਉਚ ਨਿਖੰਗ ਕਸੇ ਕਟਿ ਮੈ ਸਬ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਏ ॥
kauch nikhang kase katt mai sab aayudh lai kar kop badtaae |
They were greatly enraged and were wearing armours and quivers were tied around their waists,
ਨੈਨ ਨਚਾਇ ਦੋਊ ਰਦਨ ਛਦ ਪੀਸ ਕੈ ਭਉਹ ਸੋ ਭਉਹ ਚਢਾਏ ॥
nain nachaae doaoo radan chhad pees kai bhauh so bhauh chadtaae |
They fell upon the king with dancing eyes, gnashing teeth and pulled eyebrows
ਆਇ ਹਕਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਵਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਘਾਇ ਲਗਾਏ ॥੧੫੯੩॥
aae hakaar pare chahoon or te vaa nrip kau bahu ghaae lagaae |1593|
They were challenging him and (with their weapons) inflicted many wounds on him.1593.

ਸਕਲ ਘਾਇ ਸਹਿ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਚਿਤ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਇ ॥
sakal ghaae seh kai nripat at chit kop badtaae |
ਧਨੁਖ ਬਾਨ ਗਹਿ ਜਮ ਸਦਨਿ ਬਹੁ ਅਰਿ ਦਏ ਪਠਾਇ ॥੧੫੯੪॥
dhanukh baan geh jam sadan bahu ar de patthaae |1594|
Enduring the pain of all the wounds, in extreme anger, the king, holding his bow and arrows despatched many enemies to the abode of Yama.1594.

ਸੇਰ ਖਾਨ ਮਾਰਿਓ ਸੀਸ ਸੈਦ ਖਾ ਕੋ ਕਾਟਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ਐਸੋ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਸੈਦਨ ਮੈ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
ser khaan maario sees said khaa ko kaatt ddaariyo aiso ran paario pario saidan mai dhaae kai |
After killing Sher Khan, the king chopped the head of Said Khan and waging such a war, he jumped amongst the Sayyads
ਸੈਦ ਮੀਰੁ ਮਾਰਿਓ ਸੈਦ ਨਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਸੇਖਨ ਕੀ ਫਉਜਨ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਬਿਚਲਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
said meer maario said naahar sanghaar ddaario sekhan kee faujan kau deeno bichalaae kai |
After killing Sayyad Mir and Sayyad Nahar, the king damaged the army of Sheikhs
ਸਾਦਿਕ ਫਰੀਦ ਸੇਖ ਭਲੇ ਬਿਧਿ ਜੁਝ ਕੀਨੋ ਭੂਪ ਤਨ ਘਾਇ ਗਿਰਿਓ ਆਪ ਘਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
saadik fareed sekh bhale bidh jujh keeno bhoop tan ghaae girio aap ghaae khaae kai |
Sheikh Sadi Farid fought nicely
ਐਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਹੇਰ ਕੈ ਨਿਬੇਰ ਦੀਨੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਬੈ ਆਪ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਉਠੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੧੫੯੫॥
aisee bhaat her kai niber deene soor sabai aap brijaraaj taa ke utthe gun gaae kai |1595|
After wounding the king, he himself was wounded and then fell down, in this way, he searched for warriors and destroyed them, seeing his bravery, Krishna himself began to praise him.1595.

ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
audam karahu vaddabhaageeho simarahu har har raae |
Make the effort, O very fortunate ones, and meditate on the Lord, the Lord King.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak jis simarat sabh sukh hoveh dookh darad bhram jaae |1|
O Nanak, remembering Him in meditation, you shall obtain total peace, and your pains and troubles and doubts shall depart. ||1||

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਹ ਅਲਸਾਈਐ ॥

Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe; don't be lazy.
ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਨਹ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
bhettat saadhoo sang jam pur neh jaaeeai |
Meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall not have to go to the City of Death.
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਨ ਭਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਦ ਸੁਖੀ ॥
dookh darad na bhau biaapai naam simarat sad sukhee |
Pain, trouble and fear will not afflict you; meditating on the Naam, a lasting peace is found.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖੀ ॥
saas saas araadh har har dhiaae so prabh man mukhee |
With each and every breath, worship the Lord in adoration; meditate on the Lord God in your mind and with your mouth.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਰਸਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
kripaal deaal rasaal gun nidh kar deaa sevaa laaeeai |
O kind and compassionate Lord, O treasure of sublime essence, treasure of excellence, please link me to Your service.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਣ ਜੰਪੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਹ ਅਲਸਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
naanak peianpai charan janpai naam japat gobind neh alasaaeeai |1|
Prays Nanak: may I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet, and not be lazy in chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||
ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥
paavan patit puneet naam niranjanaa |
The Purifier of sinners is the Naam, the Pure Name of the Immaculate Lord.
ਭਰਮ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਗਿਆਨ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਜਨਾ ॥
bharam andher binaas giaan gur anjanaa |
The darkness of doubt is removed by the healing ointment of the Guru's spiritual wisdom.
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ॥
gur giaan anjan prabh niranjan jal thal maheeal pooriaa |
By the healing ointment of the Guru's spiritual wisdom, one meets the Immaculate Lord God, who is totally pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਵਿਸੂਰਿਆ ॥
eik nimakh jaa kai ridai vasiaa mitte tiseh visooriaa |
If He dwells within the heart, for even an instant, sorrows are forgotten.
ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨਾ ॥
agaadh bodh samarath suaamee sarab kaa bhau bhanjanaa |
The wisdom of the all-powerful Lord and Master is incomprehensible; He is the Destroyer of the fears of all.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਣ ਜੰਪੈ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥੨॥

ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ॥
ott gahee gopaal deaal kripaa nidhe |
I have grasped the protection of the merciful Lord, the Sustainer of the Universe, the treasure of grace.
ਮੋਹਿ ਆਸਰ ਤੁਅ ਚਰਨ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਿਧੇ ॥
mohi aasar tua charan tumaaree saran sidhe |
I take the support of Your lotus feet, and in the protection of Your Sanctuary, I attain perfection.
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
har charan kaaran karan suaamee patit udharan har hare |
The Lord's lotus feet are the cause of causes; the Lord Master saves even the sinners.
ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਭਵ ਉਤਾਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਤਰੇ ॥
saagar sansaar bhav utaar naam simarat bahu tare |
So many are saved; they cross over the terrifying world-ocean, contemplating the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਉਧਰਨ ਸੰਤਸੰਗ ਬਿਧੇ ॥
aad ant beant khojeh sunee udharan santasang bidhe |
In the beginning and in the end, countless are those who seek the Lord. I have heard that the Society of the Saints is the way to salvation.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਨ ਜੰਪੈ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ॥੩॥
naanak peianpai charan janpai ott gahee gopaal deaal kripaa nidhe |3|
Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet, and grasp the protection of the Lord of the Universe, the merciful, the ocean of kindness. ||3||
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਇਆ ॥
bhagat vachhal har birad aap banaaeaa |
The Lord is the Lover of His devotees; this is His natural way.
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਸੰਤ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
jeh jeh sant araadheh teh teh pragattaaeaa |
Wherever the Saints worship the Lord in adoration, there He is revealed.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਸਮਾਇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਭਗਤ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
prabh aap lee samaae sehaj subhaae bhagat kaaraj saariaa |
God blends Himself with His devotees in His natural way, and resolves their affairs.
ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਮਹਾ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਰਬ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
aanand har jas mahaa mangal sarab dookh visaariaa |
In the ecstasy of the Lord's Praises, they obtain supreme joy, and forget all their sorrows.
ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਏਕੁ ਤਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
chamatakaar pragaas deh dis ek teh drisattaaeaa |
The brilliant flash of the One Lord is revealed to them - they behold Him in the ten directions.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਣ ਜੰਪੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥
