A friend of that king named Kharag Singh was there, who was an excellent swimmer of the ocean of war and an abode of great strength.1370.
ਕ੍ਰੁਧਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਅਤਿ ਮਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਚਾਰ ਭੂਪ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ॥

Taking four kings and innumerable forces alongwith him, he, in great ire, went for war with Krishna.1371.

There were many warriors there including Kharag Singh, Bar Singh, Gavan Singh, Dharam Singh, Bhav Singh etc.,
ਰਥ ਅਨੇਕ ਸੰਗ ਲੀਏ ਸੁਭਟ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਜਤ ਸਜਤ ॥

He took with himself many chariots and warriors
ਦਸ ਹਜਾਰ ਗਜ ਮਤ ਚਲੇ ਘਨੀਅਰ ਜਿਮ ਗਜਤ ॥

Ten thousand of elephants moved thundering like clouds
ਮਿਲਿ ਘੇਰਿ ਲੀਓ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਤਿਨੋ ਸੁ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਲਖਿ ਲੀਯੋ ॥

They collectively besieged Krishna and his army
ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਸ ਮੈ ਘਨ ਘਟਾ ਜਿਉ ਘੋਰ ਮਨੋ ਨਰ ਬੋਲੀਓ ॥੧੩੭੨॥
rit paavas mai ghan ghattaa jiau ghor mano nar boleeo |1372|
The enemy’s army was thundering and roaring like the dense clouds in the rainy season.1372.

From this side, from the army of Yadavas, four kings came forward, whose names were Saras Singh, Vir Singh, Maha Singh and Saar Singh.1373.
ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਚਾਰਿ ਚਾਰੁ ਮਤਿਵੰਤ ॥

There were four intoxicated kings with Kharag Singh
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਚਲੇ ਮਨੋ ਆਯੋ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ॥੧੩੭੪॥

They marched towards Krishna like the persons nearing their final doom.1374.
ਸਰਸ ਮਹਾ ਅਉ ਸਾਰ ਪੁਨਿ ਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਏ ਚਾਰ ॥

ਜਾਦਵ ਸੈਨਾ ਤੇ ਤਬੈ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਅਤਿ ਬਲੁ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧੩੭੫॥
jaadav sainaa te tabai nikase at bal dhaar |1375|
Coming out from the army of Yadavas, Saras Singh, Maha Singh, Saar Singh and Vir Singh came in their powerful form.1375.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਦਿਸ ਕੇ ਚਤੁਰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤਿਨ ਵਹ ਲੀਨੇ ਮਾਰਿ ॥

Kharag Singh killed in his fury all the four kings from the side of Krishna.1376.

Other kings came forward from the side of Krishna, whose names were Surat Singh, Sampuran Singh, Bar Singh etc.
ਸੂਰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਪੂਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਬਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁ ਕੋਪ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੋ ॥

They were wrathful and were specialists in warfare.
ਅਉ ਮਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਜਿਯੋ ਤਨ ਕਉਚ ਸੁ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਅਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਮਾਝਿ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੋ ॥
aau mat singh sajiyo tan kauch su sasatran asatran maajh prabeeno |
ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਖੜਗੇਸ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੁ ਚਾਰ ਹੀ ਭੂਪਨ ਆਹਵ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੧੩੭੭॥
dhaae kai sree kharrages ke sang ju chaar hee bhoopan aahav keeno |1377|
Mat Singh also wore his armour in order to protect his body from the blows of arms and weapons and these four kings waged a dreadful war with Kharag Singh.1377.

On this side all these four kings fought with Kharag Singh and on that side the four divisions of both armies were engaged in terrible warfare.1378.

ਪੈਦਲ ਸਿਉ ਪੈਦਲ ਲਰਤ ਭਏ ਰਨ ਬੀਚ ਜੁਧ ਹੀ ਮੈ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਮਨ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਨ ਮੈ ॥
paidal siau paidal larat bhe ran beech judh hee mai raakhio man raakhio na grihan mai |
The charioteers began to fight with charioteers, the chariot-owners with chariot-owners, the riders with riders and the soldiers on foot with soldiers on foot in rage, forsaking their attachment of their home and family
ਸੈਥੀ ਜਮਧਾਰ ਤਰਵਾਰੈ ਘਨੀ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਬਾਨ ਚਲੇ ਤਾ ਹੀ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ॥
saithee jamadhaar taravaarai ghanee sayaam kahai musalee trisool baan chale taa hee chhin mai |
The daggers, swords, tridents, maces and arrows were struck
ਦੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਦੰਤੀ ਪੈ ਬਜੰਤ੍ਰਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਜੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਲਰਿਓ ਚਾਰਨ ਸਿਉ ਚਾਰਨ ਭਿਰਿਓ ਹੈ ਤਾਹੀ ਰਨ ਮੈ ॥੧੩੭੯॥
dantan siau dantee pai bajantran siau bajantree lario chaaran siau chaaran bhirio hai taahee ran mai |1379|
The elephant fought with elephant, the speaker with speaker and the minstrel with mistrel.1379.

After killing Maha Singh, Sar Singh was also killed and then Surat Singh, Sampuran Singh And Sundar Singh were also killed
ਬਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋ ਸੀਸ ਕਟਿਓ ਲਖਿ ਜਾਦਵ ਸੈਨ ਗਈ ਦਬ ਹੀ ॥

nabh mai gan kinar sree kharrages kee keerat gaavat hai sab hee |1380|
Seeing the cutting of the head of Mat Singh, the Yadava army became deprived of the vitality, but the ganas and kinners began to eulogise Kharag Singh in the sky.1380.

ayo angai sabh jag aaeaa kaakhai ghangai kaal bheaa |
Ayo, Angai: The whole world which was created - Kaahkai, Ghangai: It shall pass away.
ਰੀਰੀ ਲਲੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਪੜਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਗੁਣ ਵੀਸਰਿਆ ॥੧॥

Reeree, Laalee: People commit sins, and falling into vice, forget virtue. ||1||
ਮਨ ਐਸਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਪੜਿਆ ॥
man aisaa lekhaa toon kee parriaa |
O mortal, why have you studied such an account,
ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
lekhaa denaa terai sir rahiaa |1| rahaau |
which shall call you to answer for payment? ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਧੰਙਾਇਐ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਨੰਨੈ ਨਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਇਆ ॥
sidhangaaeiai simareh naahee nanai naa tudh naam leaa |
Sidhan, Ngaayiyai: You do not remember the Lord. Nanna: You do not take the Lord's Name.
ਛਛੈ ਛੀਜਹਿ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਜਮਿ ਪਾਕੜਿਆ ॥੨॥
chhachhai chheejeh ahinis moorre kiau chhootteh jam paakarriaa |2|
Chhachha: You are wearing away, every night and day; you fool, how will you find release? You are held in the grip of death. ||2||
ਬਬੈ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੂੜੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
babai boojheh naahee moorre bharam bhule teraa janam geaa |
Babba: You do not understand, you fool; deluded by doubt, you are wasting your life.
ਅਣਹੋਦਾ ਨਾਉ ਧਰਾਇਓ ਪਾਧਾ ਅਵਰਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਰੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਲਇਆ ॥੩॥
anahodaa naau dharaaeo paadhaa avaraa kaa bhaar tudh leaa |3|
Without justification, you call yourself a teacher; thus you take on the loads of others. ||3||
ਜਜੈ ਜੋਤਿ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੂੜੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿਗਾ ॥
jajai jot hir lee teree moorre ant geaa pachhutaavahigaa |
Jajja: You have been robbed of your Light, you fool; in the end, you shall have to depart, and you shall regret and repent.
ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਤੂੰ ਚੀਨਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਆਵਹਿਗਾ ॥੪॥
ek sabad toon cheeneh naahee fir fir joonee aavahigaa |4|
You have not remembered the One Word of the Shabad, and so you shall have to enter the womb over and over again. ||4||
ਤੁਧੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੜੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਅਵਰਾ ਨੋ ਨ ਸਿਖਾਲਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ॥
tudh sir likhiaa so parr panddit avaraa no na sikhaal bikhiaa |
Read that which is written on your forehead, O Pandit, and do not teach wickedness to others.
ਪਹਿਲਾ ਫਾਹਾ ਪਇਆ ਪਾਧੇ ਪਿਛੋ ਦੇ ਗਲਿ ਚਾਟੜਿਆ ॥੫॥
pahilaa faahaa peaa paadhe pichho de gal chaattarriaa |5|
First, the teacher is tied down, and then, the noose is placed around the pupil's neck. ||5||
ਸਸੈ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਗਇਓ ਮੂੜੇ ਏਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਕੁਥਾਇ ਲਇਆ ॥
sasai sanjam geo moorre ek daan tudh kuthaae leaa |
Sassa: You have lost your self-discipline, you fool, and you have accepted an offering under false pretenses.
ਸਾਈ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਜਜਮਾਨ ਕੀ ਸਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਏਤੁ ਧਾਨਿ ਖਾਧੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਆ ॥੬॥
saaee putree jajamaan kee saa teree et dhaan khaadhai teraa janam geaa |6|
The daughter of the alms-giver is just like your own; by accepting this payment for performing the wedding ceremony, you have cursed your own life. ||6||
ਮੰਮੈ ਮਤਿ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੂੜੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਡਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਪਇਆ ॥
mamai mat hir lee teree moorre haumai vaddaa rog peaa |
Mamma: You have been cheated out your intellect, you fool, and you are afflicted with the great disease of ego.
ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੑਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੭॥
antar aatamai braham na cheenaiaa maaeaa kaa muhataaj bheaa |7|
Within your innermost self, you do not recognize God, and you compromise yourself for the sake of Maya. ||7||
ਕਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਭਰਮਿਓਹੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਮਮਤਾ ਲਾਗੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ॥
kakai kaam krodh bharamiohu moorre mamataa laage tudh har visariaa |
Kakka: You wander around in sexual desire and anger, you fool; attached to possessiveness, you have forgotten the Lord.
ਪੜਹਿ ਗੁਣਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪੁਕਾਰਹਿ ਵਿਣੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਤੂੰ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਆ ॥੮॥
parreh guneh toon bahut pukaareh vin boojhe toon ddoob muaa |8|
You read, and reflect, and proclaim out loud, but without understanding, you are drowned to death. ||8||
ਤਤੈ ਤਾਮਸਿ ਜਲਿਓਹੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਥਥੈ ਥਾਨ ਭਰਿਸਟੁ ਹੋਆ ॥
tatai taamas jaliohu moorre thathai thaan bharisatt hoaa |
Tatta: In anger, you are burnt, you fool. T'hat'ha: That place where you live, is cursed.
ਘਘੈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੂੜੇ ਦਦੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਨ ਤੁਧੁ ਲਇਆ ॥੯॥
ghaghai ghar ghar fireh toon moorre dadai daan na tudh leaa |9|
Ghagha: You go begging from door to door, you fool. Dadda: But still, you do not receive the gift. ||9||
ਪਪੈ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਵਹੀ ਮੂੜੇ ਪਰਪੰਚਿ ਤੂੰ ਪਲਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
papai paar na pavahee moorre parapanch toon palach rahiaa |
Pappa: You shall not be able to swim across, you fool, since you are engrossed in worldly affairs.
ਸਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਓਹੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਇਹੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਲੇਖੁ ਪਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
sachai aap khuaaeohu moorre ihu sir terai lekh peaa |10|
The True Lord Himself has ruined you, you fool; this is the destiny written on your forehead. ||10||
ਭਭੈ ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੁਬੋਹੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਲਤਾਨੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
bhabhai bhavajal ddubohu moorre maaeaa vich galataan bheaa |
Bhabha: You have drowned in the terrifying world-ocean, you fool, and you have become engrossed in Maya.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਏਕ ਘੜੀ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧੧॥
gur parasaadee eko jaanai ek gharree meh paar peaa |11|
One who comes to know the One Lord, by Guru's Grace, is carried across in an instant. ||11||
ਵਵੈ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਈਆ ਮੂੜੇ ਵਾਸੁਦੇਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਵੀਸਰਿਆ ॥
vavai vaaree aaeea moorre vaasudeo tudh veesariaa |
Wawa: Your turn has come, you fool, but you have forgotten the Lord of Light.
ਏਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਨ ਲਹਸਹਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧੨॥
eeh velaa na lahaseh moorre fir toon jam kai vas peaa |12|
This opportunity shall not come again, you fool; you shall fall under the power of the Messenger of Death. ||12||
ਝਝੈ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਝੂਰਹਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਖਾ ॥
jhajhai kade na jhooreh moorre satigur kaa upades sun toon vikhaa |
Jhajha: You shall never have to regret and repent, you fool, if you listen to the Teachings of the True Guru, for even an instant.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਉ ਬੁਰਾ ॥੧੩॥
satigur baajhahu gur nahee koee nigure kaa hai naau buraa |13|
Without the True Guru, there is no Guru at all; one who is without a Guru has a bad reputation. ||13||
ਧਧੈ ਧਾਵਤ ਵਰਜਿ ਰਖੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪਇਆ ॥
dhadhai dhaavat varaj rakh moorre antar terai nidhaan peaa |
Dhadha: Restrain your wandering mind, you fool; deep within you the treasure is to be found.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਜੁਗਾ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਖਾਹਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
guramukh hoveh taa har ras peeveh jugaa jugantar khaeh peaa |14|
When one becomes Gurmukh, then he drinks in the sublime essence of the Lord; throughout the ages, he continues to drink it in. ||14||
ਗਗੈ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਗਲੀ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gagai gobid chit kar moorre galee kinai na paaeaa |
Gagga: Keep the Lord of the Universe in your mind, you fool; by mere words, no one has ever attained Him.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਇ ਮੂੜੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਸਭ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੧੫॥
gur ke charan hiradai vasaae moorre pichhale gunah sabh bakhas leaa |15|
Enshrine the Guru's feet within your heart, you fool, and all your past sins shall be forgiven. ||15||
ਹਾਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਬੂਝੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੂੜੇ ਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
haahai har kathaa boojh toon moorre taa sadaa sukh hoee |
Haha: Understand the Lord's Sermon, you fool; only then shall you attain eternal peace.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਪੜਹਿ ਤੇਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧੬॥
manamukh parreh tetaa dukh laagai vin satigur mukat na hoee |16|
The more the self-willed manmukhs read, the more pain they suffer. Without the True Guru, liberation is not obtained. ||16||
ਰਾਰੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਿਨੑ ਕੈ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
raarai raam chit kar moorre hiradai jina kai rav rahiaa |
Rarra: Center your consciousness on the Lord, you fool; abide with those whose hearts are filled with the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਰਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੑੀ ਬੂਝਿ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧੭॥
gur parasaadee jinaee raam pachhaataa niragun raam tinaee boojh lahiaa |17|
By Guru's Grace, those who recognize the Lord, understand the absolute Lord. ||17||
ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਿਆ ਅਕਥੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਿਆ ॥
teraa ant na jaaee lakhiaa akath na jaaee har kathiaa |
Your limits cannot be known; the indescribable Lord cannot be described.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨੑ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਿਬੜਿਆ ॥੧੮॥੧॥੨॥
naanak jina kau satigur miliaa tina kaa lekhaa nibarriaa |18|1|2|
O Nanak, whose who have met the True Guru, have their accounts settled. ||18||1||2||
