ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਗਯੋ ਲੀਏ ਕਰਵਾਰ ॥
sakat singh ke saamuhe gayo lee karavaar |
ਏਕ ਬਾਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਨੇ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥੧੩੨੧॥
ek baan nrip ne haniyo giriyo bhoom majhaar |1321|
The king (Vikartanan), with his sword in his hand, reached in front of Shakti Singh, but he knocked him down on the earth with a single arrow.1321.
ਜਬ ਕੁਰੂਪ ਸੈਨਾ ਸਹਿਤ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਦਯੋ ਸੰਘਾਰ ॥
jab kuroop sainaa sahit bhoopat dayo sanghaar |
ਤਬ ਜਾਦਵ ਲਖ ਸਮਰ ਮੈ ਕੀਨੋ ਹਾਹਾਕਾਰ ॥੧੩੨੨॥
tab jaadav lakh samar mai keeno haahaakaar |1322|
When Shakti Singh killed Kurup and the king (Vikartanana) alongwith the army, then the Yadava army seeing this began to lament.1322.
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਲਰਿਯੋ ਅਰਿ ਬੀਰ ਰਨਿ ਕਹਿਓ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
bahut lariyo ar beer ran kahio sayaam so raam |
Balram said to Krishna, “This warrior is fighting for a very long time
ਕਿਉ ਨ ਲਰੈ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਜੂ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਮ ॥੧੩੨੩॥
kiau na larai kahiyo krisan joo sakat singh jih naam |1323|
” Then Krishna said, “Why should he not fight, because his name is Shakti Singh?”1323.

ਤਬ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਸਬ ਸੋ ਇਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥
tab har joo sab so im kahiyo |
ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਧ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥
sakat singh badh ham te rahiyo |
ਇਨ ਅਤਿ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਚੰਡਿ ਮਨਾਈ ॥
ein at hit so chandd manaaee |
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਹਮਰੀ ਸੈਨ ਖਪਾਈ ॥੧੩੨੪॥
taa te hamaree sain khapaaee |1324|
Then Krishna said to all, “We shall not be able to kill Shakti Singh, because he has performed austerities for a boon from Chandi with extreme devotion, therefore he has destroyed all our army.1324.

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਚੰਡਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਹੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
taa te tum hoon chandd kee sev karahu chit laae |
ਜੀਤਨ ਕੋ ਬਰੁ ਦੇਇਗੀ ਅਰਿ ਤਬ ਲੀਜਹੁ ਘਾਇ ॥੧੩੨੫॥
jeetan ko bar deeigee ar tab leejahu ghaae |1325|
“Therefore you should also serve Chandi single-mindedly, which she will bestow the boon of victory and then you will be able to kill the enemy.1325.
ਜਾਗਤ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
jaagat jaa kee jot jag jal thal rahee samaae |
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਹਰ ਰੂਪ ਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਨਿ ਰਹੀ ਠਹਰਾਇ ॥੧੩੨੬॥
braham bisan har roop mai trigun rahee tthaharaae |1326|
“He, whose gleaming light pervades in water, on plain and the whole world, the same is preset in Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva in the form of three modes.1326.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਬਰਤੈ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਅਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਸਬ ਰੂਪਨ ਮੈ ॥
jaa kee kalaa baratai jag mai ar jaa kee kalaa sab roopan mai |
ਅਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਬਿਮਲਾ ਹਰ ਕੇ ਕਮਲਾ ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਕਮਲਾ ਤਨ ਮੈ ॥
ar jaa kee kalaa bimalaa har ke kamalaa pat ke kamalaa tan mai |
“He, whose power is present in the whole world and in all forms, whose power is present in Parvati, Vishnu and Lakshsmi,
ਪੁਨਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਗਿਰਿ ਰੂਖਨ ਮੈ ਸਸਿ ਪੂਖਨ ਮੈ ਮਘਵਾ ਘਨ ਮੈ ॥
pun jaa kee kalaa gir rookhan mai sas pookhan mai maghavaa ghan mai |
“And whose power is present in the mountain, tree, sun, moon, Indra and clouds also
ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਕਲਾ ਜਗ ਮਾਨੀ ਕੋ ਧ︀ਯਾਨੁ ਕਰੋ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥੧੩੨੭॥
tum hoon nahee jaanee bhavaanee kalaa jag maanee ko dhayaan karo man mai |1327|
You have not adored that Bhavani, therefore now meditate on her.1327.

Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਸਬਦੌ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਜਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
sabadau hee bhagat jaapade jina kee baanee sachee hoe |
Through the Word of the Shabad, the devotees are known; their words are true.
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਨਾਉ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
vichahu aap geaa naau maniaa sach milaavaa hoe |1|
They eradicate ego from within themselves; they surrender to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and meet with the True One. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
har har naam jan kee pat hoe |
Through the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, His humble servants obtain honor.
ਸਫਲੁ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨੑ ਮਾਨੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
safal tinaa kaa janam hai tina maanai sabh koe |1| rahaau |
How blessed is their coming into the world! Everyone adores them. ||1||Pause||
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
haumai meraa jaat hai at krodh abhimaan |
Ego, self-centeredness, excessive anger and pride are the lot of mankind.
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
sabad marai taa jaat jaae jotee jot milai bhagavaan |2|
If one dies in the Word of the Shabad, then he is rid of this, and his light is merged into the Light of the Lord God. ||2||
ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
pooraa satigur bhettiaa safal janam hamaaraa |
Meeting with the Perfect True Guru, my life has been blessed.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਰੇ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
naam navai nidh paaeaa bhare akhutt bhanddaaraa |3|
I have obtained the nine treasures of the Naam, and my storehouse is inexhaustible, filled to overflowing. ||3||
ਆਵਹਿ ਇਸੁ ਰਾਸੀ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
aaveh is raasee ke vaapaaree jinaa naam piaaraa |
Those who love the Naam come as dealers in the merchandise of the Naam.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
guramukh hovai so dhan paae tinaa antar sabad veechaaraa |4|
Those who become Gurmukh obtain this wealth; deep within, they contemplate the Shabad. ||4||
ਭਗਤੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੑੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
bhagatee saar na jaananaee manamukh ahankaaree |
The egotistical, self-willed manmukhs do not appreciate the value of devotional worship.
ਧੁਰਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਜੂਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
dhurahu aap khuaaeian jooai baajee haaree |5|
The Primal Lord Himself has beguiled them; they lose their lives in the gamble. ||5||
ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥
bin piaarai bhagat na hovee naa sukh hoe sareer |
Without loving affection, devotional worship is not possible, and the body cannot be at peace.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਨ ਧੀਰਿ ॥੬॥
prem padaarath paaeeai gur bhagatee man dheer |6|
The wealth of love is obtained from the Guru; through devotion, the mind becomes steady. ||6||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
jis no bhagat karaae so kare gurasabad veechaar |
He alone performs devotional worship, whom the Lord so blesses; he contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
hiradai eko naam vasai haumai dubidhaa maar |7|
The One Name abides in his heart, and he conquers his ego and duality. ||7||
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਏਕੋੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
bhagataa kee jat pat eko naam hai aape le savaar |
The One Name is the social status and honor of the devotees; the Lord Himself adorns them.
ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੮॥
sadaa saranaaee tis kee jiau bhaavai tiau kaaraj saar |8|
They remain forever in the Protection of His Sanctuary. As it pleases His Will, He arranges their affairs. ||8||
ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਅਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਜਾਪੈ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
bhagat niraalee alaah dee jaapai gur veechaar |
The worship of the Lord is unique - it is known only by reflecting upon the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਭੈ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥੯॥੧੪॥੩੬॥
naanak naam hiradai vasai bhai bhagatee naam savaar |9|14|36|
O Nanak, one whose mind is filled with the Naam, through the Lord's Fear and devotion, is embellished with the Naam. ||9||14||36||
