ਪੁਰ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਭਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬੀਚ ਗਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਜਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
pur dekh sabhaa nrip beech gayo sang jaa nrip kai ih bhaat uchaariyo |
ਰਾਜਨ ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਨੀਤਿ ਸੁਨੋ ਕਹੁ ਵਾਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਇਨ ਯਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
raajan moh te neet suno kahu vaah kahiyo in yaa bidh saariyo |
After seeing the city, Akrur reached again the royal court and said there, “O King! Listen to the words of wisdom from me and whatever I say, consider it as true
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤੁਮੈ ਸੁਤ ਆਪਨ ਸੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਪੰਡੁ ਕੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਨ ਸੋ ਹਿਤ ਟਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
preet tumai sut aapan so tuhi pandd ke putran so hit ttaariyo |
“You have the love of your sons only in your mind and you are overlooking the interest of the sons of Pandava
ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਤਰਾਸਟਰ ਤੈ ਸਭ ਆਪਨ ਰਾਜ ਕੋ ਪੈਡ ਬਿਗਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦੧੯॥
jaanat hai dhritaraasattar tai sabh aapan raaj ko paidd bigaariyo |1019|
O Dhritrashtra! do you not know that you are spoiling the practice of your kingdom?”1019.
ਜੈਸੇ ਦ੍ਰੁਜੋਧਨ ਪੂਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਇਨ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਨ ਪੰਡੁ ਲਖਈਐ ॥
jaise drujodhan poot hvai tvai in kee sam putran pandd lakheeai |
“Just as Duryodhana is your son, in the same way you consider the sons Pandava
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਰੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋਂ ਇਨ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਅੰਤਰ ਰਾਜ ਨ ਕਈਯੈ ॥
taa te karo binatee tum son in te kachh antar raaj na keeyai |
Therefore, O king! I request you not to differentiate them in the matter of kingdom
ਰਾਖੁ ਖੁਸੀ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਉਨ ਕੋ ਜਿਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਜਸੁ ਗਈਯੈ ॥
raakh khusee in ko un ko jih te tumaro jag mai jas geeyai |
ਯਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਜਿਹ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਪਈਯੈ ॥੧੦੨੦॥
yaa bidh so akraoor kahiyo nrip so jih te at hee sukh peeyai |1020|
“Keep both the sides happy, so that the world sing your praises.” Akrur said all these things in such a way to the king, that everybody was pleased.1020.
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੂਤਹ ਕੇਰੇ ॥
yau sun utar det bhayo nrip pai har kai sang dootah kere |
ਜੇਤਕ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਹਮ ਸੋਂ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਤ ਏਕ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
jetak baat kahee ham son nahee aavat ek kahiyo man mere |
Hearing these words, the king said to Akrur, the messenger of Krishna, “All the things that you have said, I do not agree with them
ਯੌਂ ਕਹਿ ਪੰਡੁ ਕੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਪਿਖੁ ਮਾਰਤ ਹੈ ਅਬ ਸਾਝ ਸਵੇਰੇ ॥
yauan keh pandd ke putran ko pikh maarat hai ab saajh savere |
“Now the sons of Pandava will be searched and put to death
ਆਇ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜੀਯ ਸੋ ਕਰ ਹੈ ਕਛੂ ਬਚਨਾ ਨਹਿ ਮਾਨਤ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧੦੨੧॥
aae hai jo jeey so kar hai kachhoo bachanaa neh maanat tere |1021|
I shall do whatever I consider right and not accept your advice at all.”1021.
ਦੂਤ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਯੌ ਹਮਰੋ ਜੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਰੰਚ ਨ ਮਾਨੋ ॥
doot kahiyo nrip ke sang yau hamaro ju kahiyo tum ranch na maano |
The messenger said to the king, “If you do not accept my saying, then Krishna will kill you in rage
ਤਉ ਕੁਪਿ ਹੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਮਨੈ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਮਰਿ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਹਿਤ ਠਾਨੋ ॥
tau kup hai jadubeer manai tum ko mar hai tih te hit tthaano |
You should not think of war,
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਭਉਹ ਮਰੋਰਨਿ ਸੋ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਰਾਜ ਬਹਾਨੋ ॥
sayaam ke bhauh maroran so ham jaanat hai tuhi raaj bahaano |
“Keeping the fear of Krishna in your mind, consider my coming as an excuse
ਜੋ ਜੀਯ ਮੈ ਜੁ ਹੁਤੀ ਸੁ ਕਹੀ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜੀਯ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਨੋ ॥੧੦੨੨॥
jo jeey mai ju hutee su kahee tumare jeey kee su kahiyo tum jaano |1022|
Whatever there was in my mind, I said that and you only know, whatever is in your mind.”1022.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਠਉਰ ਤਹਾ ਕੋ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
yau keh kai bateeyaa nrip so taj kai ih tthaur tahaa ko gayo hai |
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜਹਾ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰ ਬਲੀ ਸਭ ਜਾਦਵ ਬੰਸ ਤਹਾ ਸੁ ਅਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah jahaa balabhadr balee sabh jaadav bans tahaa su ayo hai |
Saying thus to the king, Akrur went back to the place, where Krishna, Balbhadra and other mighty heroes were seated
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੋ ਚੰਦ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਤਾ ਪਗ ਪੈ ਸਿਰ ਕੋ ਝੁਕਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
sayaam ko chand nihaarat hee mukh taa pag pai sir ko jhukiyo hai |
ਜੋ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਉਹ ਠਉਰ ਭਈ ਨਿਕਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਕਹਿ ਭੇਦ ਦਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੨੩॥
jo birathaa uh tthaur bhee nikattai har ke keh bhed dayo hai |1023|
Seeing Krishna, Akrur bowed his head at his feet and he narrated all that had happened at Hastinapur, to Krishna.1023.
ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਇਮ ਪਾਰਥ ਮਾਤ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨਨ ਕੀ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੈ ॥
tum so im paarath maat kahiyo har deenan kee binatee sun lai |
“O Krishna! Kunti had addressed you to listen to the request of the helpless
ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਦੁਖ ਪਯੋ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਠਉਰ ਬਿਨਾ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਨ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਕੁਐ ॥
at hee dukh payo ham ko ih tthaur binaa tumare na sahaaeik kuai |
She had said that she was extremely miserable at that place and without him, there was none to help her
ਗਜ ਕੋ ਜਿਮ ਸੰਕਟ ਸੀਘ੍ਰ ਕਟਿਯੋ ਤਿਮ ਮੋ ਦੁਖ ਕੋ ਕਟੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਐ ॥
gaj ko jim sankatt seeghr kattiyo tim mo dukh ko katteeai har ai |
“The way in which he had removed the suffering of the elephant, in that way, O Krishna, her anguish be removed
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਚਿਤ ਦੈ ॥੧੦੨੪॥
tih te sun lai su kahiyo hamaro kab sayaam kahai hit so chit dai |1024|
Therefore O Krishna, listen to my words attentively with affection.”1024.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਸਿਕੰਧੇ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਫੁਫੀ ਕੁੰਤੀ ਪਾਸ ਭੇਜਾ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
gobind gunee nidhaan guramukh jaaneeai |
The Lord of the Universe is the treasure of excellence; He is known only to the Gurmukh.
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥੧॥
hoe kripaal deaal har rang maaneeai |1|
When He shows His Mercy and Kindness, we revel in the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਹ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ॥
aavahu sant milaah har kathaa kahaaneea |
Come, O Saints - let us join together and speak the Sermon of the Lord.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਲੋਕਾਣੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anadin simarah naam taj laaj lokaaneea |1| rahaau |
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and ignore the criticism of others. ||1||Pause||
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥
jap jap jeevaa naam hovai anad ghanaa |
I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam, and so I obtain immense bliss.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਵਿਣਸਣਾ ॥੨॥
mithiaa mohu sansaar jhootthaa vinasanaa |2|
Attachment to the world is useless and vain; it is false, and perishes in the end. ||2||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
charan kamal sang nehu kinai viralai laaeaa |
How rare are those who embrace love for the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
dhan suhaavaa mukh jin har dhiaaeaa |3|
Blessed and beautiful is that mouth, which meditates on the Lord. ||3||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥
janam maran dukh kaal simarat mitt jaavee |
The pains of birth, death and reincarnation are erased by meditating on the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੧੩॥
naanak kai sukh soe jo prabh bhaavee |4|11|113|
That alone is Nanak's joy, which is pleasing to God. ||4||11||113||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਵਹੁ ਮੀਤ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਸਭਿ ਭੁੰਚਹ ॥
aavahu meet ikatr hoe ras kas sabh bhunchah |
Come, O friends: let us meet together and enjoy all the tastes and flavors.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੁੰਚਹ ॥੧॥
amrit naam har har japah mil paapaa munchah |1|
Let us join together and chant the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and so wipe away our sins. ||1||
ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
tat veechaarahu sant janahu taa te bighan na laagai |
Reflect upon the essence of reality, O Saintly beings, and no troubles shall afflict you.
ਖੀਨ ਭਏ ਸਭਿ ਤਸਕਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kheen bhe sabh tasakaraa guramukh jan jaagai |1| rahaau |
All of the thieves shall be destroyed, as the Gurmukhs remain wakeful. ||1||Pause||
ਬੁਧਿ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੈਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਰਹੁ ॥
budh gareebee kharach laihu haumai bikh jaarahu |
Take wisdom and humility as your supplies, and burn away the poison of pride.
ਸਾਚਾ ਹਟੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਵਖਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਹੁ ॥੨॥
saachaa hatt pooraa saudaa vakhar naam vaapaarahu |2|
True is that shop, and perfect the transaction; deal only in the merchandise of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ॥
jeeo pindd dhan arapiaa seee pativante |
They alone are accepted and approved, who dedicate their souls, bodies and wealth.
ਆਪਨੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੰਤੇ ॥੩॥
aapanarre prabh bhaaniaa nit kel karante |3|
Those who are pleasing to their God, celebrate in happiness. ||3||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਦੁ ਜੋ ਪੀਵਤੇ ਬਿਖਲੀ ਪਤਿ ਕਮਲੀ ॥
duramat mad jo peevate bikhalee pat kamalee |
Those fools, who drink in the wine of evil-mindedness, become the husbands of prostitutes.
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਅਮਲੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੧੪॥
raam rasaaein jo rate naanak sach amalee |4|12|114|
But those who are imbued with the sublime essence of the Lord, O Nanak, are intoxicated with the Truth. ||4||12||114||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਉਦਮੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਆਰੰਭੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥
audam keea karaaeaa aaranbh rachaaeaa |
I made the effort; I did it, and made a beginning.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
naam jape jap jeevanaa gur mantru drirraaeaa |1|
I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam. The Guru has implanted this Mantra within me. ||1||
ਪਾਇ ਪਰਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਆ ॥
paae parah satiguroo kai jin bharam bidaariaa |
I fall at the Feet of the True Guru, who has dispelled my doubts.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh aapanee sach saaj savaariaa |1| rahaau |
Bestowing His Mercy, God has dressed me, and decorated me with the Truth. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
kar geh leene aapane sach hukam rajaaee |
Taking me by the hand, He made me His own, through the True Order of His Command.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
jo prabh ditee daat saa pooran vaddiaaee |2|
That gift which God gave to me, is perfect greatness. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
sadaa sadaa gun gaaeeeh jap naam muraaree |
Forever and ever, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and chant the Name of the Destroyer of ego.
ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਬਾਹਿਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
nem nibaahio satiguroo prabh kirapaa dhaaree |3|
My vows have been honored, by the Grace of God and the True Guru, who has showered His Mercy. ||3||
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਲਾਭੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ॥
naam dhan gun gaau laabh poorai gur ditaa |
The Perfect Guru has given the wealth of the Naam, and the profit of singing the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਅਮਿਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੧੫॥
vanajaare sant naanakaa prabh saahu amitaa |4|13|115|
The Saints are the traders, O Nanak, and the Infinite Lord God is their Banker. ||4||13||115||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੁਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥
jaa kaa tthaakur tuhee prabh taa ke vaddabhaagaa |
One who has You as His Master, O God, is blessed with great destiny.
ਓਹੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਸਦ ਸੁਖੀ ਸਭੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
ohu suhelaa sad sukhee sabh bhram bhau bhaagaa |1|
He is happy, and forever at peace; his doubts and fears are all dispelled. ||1||
ਹਮ ਚਾਕਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
ham chaakar gobind ke tthaakur meraa bhaaraa |
I am the slave of the Lord of the Universe; my Master is the greatest of all.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karaavan sagal bidh so satiguroo hamaaraa |1| rahaau |
He is the Creator, the Cause of causes; He is my True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਉਰੁ ਕੋ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
doojaa naahee aaur ko taa kaa bhau kareeai |
There is no other whom I should fear.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਗੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥੨॥
gur sevaa mehal paaeeai jag dutar tareeai |2|
Serving the Guru, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is obtained, and the impassable world-ocean is crossed over. ||2||
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
drisatt teree sukh paaeeai man maeh nidhaanaa |
By Your Glance of Grace, peace is obtained, and the treasure fills the mind.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਭਏ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
jaa kau tum kirapaal bhe sevak se paravaanaa |3|
That servant, unto whom You bestow Your Mercy, is approved and accepted. ||3||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੋ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪੀਵੈ ॥
amrit ras har keeratano ko viralaa peevai |
How rare is that person who drinks in the Ambrosial Essence of the Lord's Kirtan.
