ਕੇਲ ਕਰੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਸੋਊ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਉ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥

ਦੁਖਿਤ ਭਈ ਇਨ ਲੋਗਨ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਘਨਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਪੁਕਾਰੀ ॥
dukhit bhee in logan te at hee keh kai ghan sayaam pukaaree |
“Krishna is absorbed in his plays in Mathura and has forgotten me,” Kunti said in a loud voice, “I have been greatly aggrieved by the behaviours of the people (Kaurvas) of this place
ਨਾਥ ਮਰਿਯੋ ਸੁਤ ਬਾਲ ਰਹੇ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਭਯੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
naath mariyo sut baal rahe tih te akraoor bhayo dukh bhaaree |
“My husband has passed away and the children are still minor
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਹਉ ਪੂਛਤ ਹੌਂ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਲੇਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧੦੧੩॥
taa te hau poochhat hauan tum ko kabahoon har jee sudh let hamaaree |1013|
Therefore, O Akrur! I am in great agony and ask you whether Krishna will also communicate with us.1013.
ਦੁਖਿਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਹੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਅੰਧ ਰਿਸੈ ਸੇ ॥
dukhit hvai akraoor ke sang kahee bateeyaa nrip andh risai se |
ਦੇਤ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਘਨੋ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਕਹਿਓ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੀਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਐਸੇ ॥
det hai dukh ghano ham kau kahio sun meet sayaam so aise |
“The blind king Dhritrashtra is angry with us,” this was told by Kunti to Akrur and said further, “O Akrur! please tell Krishna that all of them are agonising us
ਪਾਰਥ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਰੁਚੇ ਉਨ ਕੋ ਨਹਿ ਵਾਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਹੁ ਸੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੈਸੇ ॥
paarath bhraat ruche un ko neh vaeh kahiyo kahu so bidh kaise |
“Arjuna considers all of them as brother-like, but they do not respond likewise
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਈ ਸੋਊ ਆਂਖ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਪਰੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧੦੧੪॥
yau sun utar det bhee soaoo aankh ke beech pare trin jaise |1014|
How should I describe my anguish?” And saying thus, the tears rolled down from the eyes of Kunti as if some straw was troubling her eye.1014.
ਕਹਿ ਯੌ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਹਮਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਕ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਬੂਡਿ ਗਈ ਹਉ ॥
keh yau binatee hamaree har so at sok samundr mai boodd gee hau |
ਜੀਵਤ ਹੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਆਇਸ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਈ ਹਉ ॥
jeevat ho kab sayaam kahai tuhi aaeis paae kai naam kee hau |
“O Akrur! tell Krishna that I have been drowned in the ocean of sorrow and am living only on your name and best wishes
ਮਾਰਨ ਮੋ ਸੁਤ ਕੌ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਸੁਤ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਪਾਵਨ ਸੋ ਕਢਈ ਹਉ ॥
maaran mo sut kau nrip ke sut kott upaavan so kadtee hau |
“The sons of the king are making great efforts to kill my sons
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਇਉ ਕਹੀਯੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਥ ਅਨਾਥ ਭਈ ਹਉ ॥੧੦੧੫॥
sayaam so iau kaheeyo bateeyaa tumare bin naath anaath bhee hau |1015|
O Akrur! tell Krishna that without him we are all helpless.”1015.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਦੁਖ ਸ੍ਵਾਸ ਉਸਾਸ ਸੁ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
yau keh kai tih so bateeyaa at hee dukh svaas usaas su leeno |
ਜੋ ਦੁਖ ਮੋਰੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਥੋ ਸੋਊ ਮੈ ਤੁਮ ਪੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਹਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
jo dukh more ride meh tho soaoo mai tum pai sabh hee keh deeno |
Saying this, Kunti heaved a long and sorrowful sigh and said further, “Whatever anguish I had in my heart, I have disclosed that
ਸੋ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਹਮਰੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹੀਯੋ ਦੁਖ ਕੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਹਠੀ ਨੋ ॥
so suneeai hamaree birathaa kaheeyo dukh kee jadubeer hatthee no |
ਹੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਅਨਾਥਨ ਨਾਥ ਸਹਾਇ ਕਰੋ ਕਹਿ ਰੋਦਨ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੧੦੧੬॥
he brijanaath anaathan naath sahaae karo keh rodan keeno |1016|
“O Akrur! the hero of the Yadavas! you may please tell all my painful story to Krishna,” and again lamenting she said, ‘O the Lord of Braja! kindly help the poor creatures like us.’ “1016.

ਦੇਖਿ ਦੁਖਾਤੁਰ ਪਾਰਥ ਮਾਤ ਕੋ ਯੌਂ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਸੁਤ ਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
dekh dukhaatur paarath maat ko yauan kahiyo tvai sut hee nrip hvai hai |
Seeing the mother of Arjun in agony, Akrur said, “Krishna has great love for you
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਘਨੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋਂ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
sayaam kee preet ghanee tum son tih te tum ko at hee sukh dai hai |
Your son will become the king and you will be in great comfort
ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਰਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ਸੁਭ ਲਛਨ ਤੁਇ ਸੁਤ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਦੁਖ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥

“All the good omens will be on your side and your sons will agonise the enemies
ਰਾਜ ਸਭੈ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਲਹਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਜਮਲੋਕਿ ਪਠੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੧੭॥
raaj sabhai uh hee leh hai har satran ko jamalok patthai hai |1017|
They will obtain the kingdom and send the enemies to the abode of Yama.”1017.
ਯੌ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰਹਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Listening to the words of Kunti, Akrur thought of going
ਕੈ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੁ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਸੁਤ ਹੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
kai kai pranaam chaliyo tab hee nrip tvai sut ho ih bhaat uchaariyo |
He bowed and left, in order to know the affection of people,
ਕਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਹਿਤ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੀ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਪਗ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
kaa sang logan ko hit hai ih chint karee pur mai pag dhaariyo |
Whether they were with the Kaurvas or with the Pandavas, Akrur entered the city
ਦੇਖਿਓ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਇਨੀ ਸੰਗ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦੧੮॥
dekhio ki preet inee sang hai tih te sabh sok bidaa kar ddaariyo |1018|
When he noticed that all the people loved Pandavas, the anxiety of his mind vanished.1018.

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਠਾਇ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
poor rahiaa srab tthaae hamaaraa khasam soe |
He, my Lord Master, is fully pervading all places.
ਏਕੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
ek saahib sir chhat doojaa naeh koe |1|
He is the One Lord Master, the roof over our heads; there is no other than Him. ||1||
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
jiau bhaavai tiau raakh raakhanahaariaa |
As it pleases Your Will, please save me, O Savior Lord.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujh bin avar na koe nadar nihaariaa |1| rahaau |
Without You, my eyes see no other at all. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਰੀਐ ॥
pratipaale prabh aap ghatt ghatt saareeai |
God Himself is the Cherisher; He takes care of each and every heart.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ॥੨॥
jis man vutthaa aap tis na visaareeai |2|
That person, within whose mind You Yourself dwell, never forgets You. ||2||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥
jo kichh kare su aap aapan bhaaniaa |
He does that which is pleasing to Himself.
ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
bhagataa kaa sahaaee jug jug jaaniaa |3|
He is known as the help and support of His devotees, throughout the ages. ||3||
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਝੂਰੀਐ ॥
jap jap har kaa naam kade na jhooreeai |
Chanting and meditating up the Lord's Name, the mortal never comes to regret anything.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰੀਐ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦੯॥
naanak daras piaas lochaa pooreeai |4|7|109|
O Nanak, I thirst for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please, fulfill my desire, O Lord. ||4||7||109||

ਕਿਆ ਸੋਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਗਾਫਲ ਗਹਿਲਿਆ ॥
kiaa soveh naam visaar gaafal gahiliaa |
Why are you sleeping, and forgetting the Name, O careless and foolish mortal?
ਕਿਤਂੀ ਇਤੁ ਦਰੀਆਇ ਵੰਞਨੑਿ ਵਹਦਿਆ ॥੧॥
kitanee it dareeae vanyana vahadiaa |1|
So many have been washed away and carried off by this river of life. ||1||
ਬੋਹਿਥੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਮਨ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘੀਐ ॥
bohitharraa har charan man charr langheeai |
O mortal, get aboard the boat of the Lord's Lotus Feet, and cross over.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aatth pehar gun gaae saadhoo sangeeai |1| rahaau |
Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਭੋਗਹਿ ਭੋਗ ਅਨੇਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁੰਞਿਆ ॥
bhogeh bhog anek vin naavai sunyiaa |
You may enjoy various pleasures, but they are useless without the Name.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਰੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
har kee bhagat binaa mar mar runiaa |2|
Without devotion to the Lord, you shall die in sorrow, again and again. ||2||
ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਤਨਿ ਮਰਦਨ ਮਾਲਣਾ ॥
kaparr bhog sugandh tan maradan maalanaa |
You may dress and eat and apply scented oils to your body,
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ਸਰਪਰ ਚਾਲਣਾ ॥੩॥
bin simaran tan chhaar sarapar chaalanaa |3|
but without the meditative remembrance of the Lord, your body shall surely turn to dust, and you shall have to depart. ||3||
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਪੇਖਿਆ ॥
mahaa bikham sansaar viralai pekhiaa |
How very treacherous is this world-ocean; how very few realize this!
ਛੂਟਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਿਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੧੦॥
chhoottan har kee saran lekh naanak lekhiaa |4|8|110|
Salvation rests in the Lord's Sanctuary; O Nanak, this is your pre-ordained destiny. ||4||8||110||

ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਗਰਬੀਐ ॥
koe na kis hee sang kaahe garabeeai |
No one is anyone's companion; why take any pride in others?
ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਬੀਐ ॥੧॥
ek naam aadhaar bhaujal tarabeeai |1|
With the Support of the One Name, this terrible world-ocean is crossed over. ||1||
ਮੈ ਗਰੀਬ ਸਚੁ ਟੇਕ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
mai gareeb sach ttek toon mere satigur poore |
You are the True Support of me, the poor mortal, O my Perfect True Guru.
ਦੇਖਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰਾ ਦਰਸਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dekh tumaaraa darasano meraa man dheere |1| rahaau |
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, my mind is encouraged. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਜੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ਕਾਜਿ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਗਨੋੁ ॥
raaj maal janjaal kaaj na kitai gano |
Royal powers, wealth, and worldly involvements are of no use at all.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਹੁ ਧਨੋੁ ॥੨॥
har keeratan aadhaar nihachal ehu dhano |2|
The Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is my Support; this wealth is everlasting. ||2||
ਜੇਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਤੇਤ ਪਛਾਵਿਆ ॥
jete maaeaa rang tet pachhaaviaa |
As many as are the pleasures of Maya, so many are the shadows they leave.
ਸੁਖ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵਿਆ ॥੩॥
sukh kaa naam nidhaan guramukh gaaviaa |3|
The Gurmukhs sing of the Naam, the treasure of peace. ||3||
ਸਚਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੇ ॥
sachaa gunee nidhaan toon prabh gahir ganbheere |
You are the True Lord, the treasure of excellence; O God, You are deep and unfathomable.
ਆਸ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਜੀਅਰੇ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੧੧॥
aas bharosaa khasam kaa naanak ke jeeare |4|9|111|
The Lord Master is the hope and support of Nanak's mind. ||4||9||111||

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
jis simarat dukh jaae sehaj sukh paaeeai |
Remembering Him, suffering is removed, and celestial peace is obtained.
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
rain dinas kar jorr har har dhiaaeeai |1|
Night and day, with your palms pressed together, meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
naanak kaa prabh soe jis kaa sabh koe |
He alone is Nanak's God, unto whom all beings belong.
ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab rahiaa bharapoor sachaa sach soe |1| rahaau |
He is totally pervading everywhere, the Truest of the True. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਗਿਆਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
antar baahar sang sahaaee giaan jog |
Inwardly and outwardly, He is my companion and my helper; He is the One to be realized.
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਮਨਾ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਸਗਲ ਰੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
tiseh araadh manaa binaasai sagal rog |2|
Adoring Him, my mind is cured of all its ailments. ||2||
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
raakhanahaar apaar raakhai agan maeh |
The Savior Lord is infinite; He saves us from the fire of the womb.
ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਪਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
seetal har har naam simarat tapat jaae |3|
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is soothing and cool; remembering it in meditation, the inner fire is quenched. ||3||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਾ ॥
sookh sehaj aanand ghanaa naanak jan dhooraa |
Peace, poise, and immense bliss, O Nanak, are obtained, when one becomes the dust of the feet of the humble servants of the Lord.
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਭਏ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੧੨॥
kaaraj sagale sidh bhe bhettiaa gur pooraa |4|10|112|
All of one's affairs are perfectly resolved, meeting with the Perfect Guru. ||4||10||112||
