ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਖੜਗ ਕੋ ਕਰੋਂ ਸੁ ਹਿਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

namasakaar sree kharrag ko karon su hit chit laae |

I salute the Glorious SWORD with all my heart’s affection.

ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰੋਂ ਗਿਰੰਥ ਇਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੧॥

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਾਲ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ॥

The Eulogy of the Revered Death (KAL).

ਖਗ ਖੰਡ ਬਿਹੰਡੰ ਖਲ ਦਲ ਖੰਡੰ ਅਤਿ ਰਣ ਮੰਡੰ ਬਰ ਬੰਡੰ ॥

khag khandd bihanddan khal dal khanddan at ran manddan bar banddan |

The sword chops well, chops the forces of fools and this mighty one bedecks and glorifies the battlefield.

ਭੁਜ ਦੰਡ ਅਖੰਡੰ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੰ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਮੰਡੰ ਭਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੰ ॥

bhuj dandd akhanddan tej prachanddan jot amanddan bhaan prabhan |

It is the unbreakable staff of the arm, it has the powerful luster and its light even bedims the radiance of the sum.

ਸੁਖ ਸੰਤਾ ਕਰਣੰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦਰਣੰ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਹਰਣੰ ਅਸਿ ਸਰਣੰ ॥

sukh santaa karanan duramat daranan kilabikh haranan as saranan |

It brings happiness to the saints, mashing the vicious ones, it is the destroyer of sins and I and under its refuge.

ਜੈ ਜੈ ਜਗ ਕਾਰਣ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਬਾਰਣ ਮਮ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਣ ਜੈ ਤੇਗੰ ॥੨॥

jai jai jag kaaran srisatt ubaaran mam pratipaaran jai tegan |2|

Hail, hail to the cause of the world, saviour of the universe, it is my preserver, I hail its victory. 2.

ਸਦਾ ਏਕ ਜੋਤ︀ਯੰ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸਰੂਪੰ ॥

sadaa ek jotayan ajoonee saroopan |

He, who is ever light-incarnate and birthless entity,

ਮਹਾ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਵੰ ਮਹਾ ਭੂਪ ਭੂਪੰ ॥

mahaa dev devan mahaa bhoop bhoopan |

Who is the god of chief gods, the king of chief kings

ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਿਤ︀ਯੰ ਨਿਰੂਪੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਬਾਣੰ ॥

nirankaar nitayan niroopan nribaanan |

Who is Formless, Eternal, Amorphous and Ultimate Bliss

ਕਲੰ ਕਾਰਣੇਯੰ ਨਮੋ ਖੜਗ ਪਾਣੰ ॥੩॥

kalan kaaraneyan namo kharrag paanan |3|

Who is the Cause of all the Powers, I salute the wielder of the Sword. 3

ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨ੍ਰਿਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਿਤ︀ਯੰ ਨਿਰਾਲੰ ॥

nirankaar nribikaar nitayan niraalan |

He is Formless, Flawless, eternal and Non-aligned

ਨ ਬ੍ਰਿਧੰ ਬਿਸੇਖੰ ਨ ਤਰੁਨੰ ਨ ਬਾਲੰ ॥

n bridhan bisekhan na tarunan na baalan |

He is neither distinctively old, nor young nor immature;

ਨ ਰੰਕੰ ਨ ਰਾਯੰ ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਰੇਖੰ ॥

n rankan na raayan na roopan na rekhan |

He is neither poor nor rich; He is Formless and Markless

ਨ ਰੰਗੰ ਨ ਰਾਗੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ॥੪॥

n rangan na raagan apaaran abhekhan |4|

He is Colourless, Non-attached, Limitless and Guiseless. 4;

ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਰੇਖੰ ਨ ਰੰਗੰ ਨ ਰਾਗੰ ॥

n roopan na rekhan na rangan na raagan |

He is Formless, Signless, Colourless and Non-attached;

ਨ ਨਾਮੰ ਨ ਠਾਮੰ ਮਹਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਗੰ ॥

n naaman na tthaaman mahaa jot jaagan |

He is Nameless, Placeless; and a Radiating Great Effulgence

ਨ ਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ਨ ਭੇਖੰ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਿਤ︀ਯੰ ॥

n dvaikhan na bhekhan nirankaar nitayan |

He is Blemishless, Guiseless, Formless and Eternal

ਮਹਾ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗੰ ਸੁ ਪਰਮੰ ਪਵਿਤ︀ਯੰ ॥੫॥

mahaa jog jogan su paraman pavitayan |5|

He is a Superb Practising Yogi and a Supremely Holy Entity. 5

ਅਜੇਯੰ ਅਭੇਯੰ ਅਨਾਮੰ ਅਠਾਮੰ ॥

ajeyan abheyan anaaman atthaaman |

He is unconquerable, Indistinguishable, Nameless and Placeless

ਮਹਾ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗੰ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਮ ਕਾਮੰ ॥

mahaa jog jogan mahaa kaam kaaman |

He is a Superb Practicing Yogi, He is the Supreme Ravisher

ਅਲੇਖੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ਅਨੀਲੰ ਅਨਾਦੰ ॥

alekhan abhekhan aneelan anaadan |

He is Accountless, Garbless, Stainless and without Beginning

ਪਰੇਯੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਸਦਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਬਿਖਾਦੰ ॥੬॥

pareyan pavitran sadaa nribikhaadan |6|

He is in the Yond, Immaculate and ever without Contention. 6

ਸੁ ਆਦੰ ਅਨਾਦੰ ਅਨੀਲੰ ਅਨੰਤੰ ॥

su aadan anaadan aneelan anantan |

He is the Primal, Orignless, Stainless and Endless

ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ਮਹੇਸੰ ਮਹੰਤੰ ॥

advaikhan abhekhan mahesan mahantan |

He is Blemishless, Guiseless, Master of the earth and the destroyer of Pride

ਨ ਰੋਖੰ ਨ ਸੋਖੰ ਨ ਦ੍ਰੋਹੰ ਨ ਮੋਹੰ ॥

n rokhan na sokhan na drohan na mohan |

He is Ireless, Ever fresh, Deceitless and Non-attached

ਨ ਕਾਮੰ ਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਅਜੋਹੰ ॥੭॥

n kaaman na krodhan ajonee ajohan |7|

He is Lustless, Angerless, Birthless and Sightless. 7

ਪਰੇਅੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਪੁਨੀਤੰ ਪੁਰਾਣੰ ॥

parean pavitran puneetan puraanan |

He is in the Yond, Immaculate, Most Holy and Ancient

ਅਜੇਅੰ ਅਭੇਅੰ ਭਵਿਖ︀ਯੰ ਭਵਾਣੰ ॥

ajean abhean bhavikhayan bhavaanan |

He is Unconquerable, Indistinguishable, Will be in future and is always Present

ਨ ਰੋਗੰ ਨ ਸੋਗੰ ਸੁ ਨਿਤ︀ਯੰ ਨਵੀਨੰ ॥

n rogan na sogan su nitayan naveenan |

He is without ailment and sorrow and is ever new

ਅਜਾਯੰ ਸਹਾਯੰ ਪਰਮੰ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੰ ॥੮॥

ajaayan sahaayan paraman prabeenan |8|

He is Birthless, He is the Supporter and is Supremely dexterous. 8

ਸੁ ਭੂਤੰ ਭਵਿਖ︀ਯੰ ਭਵਾਨੰ ਭਵੇਅੰ ॥

su bhootan bhavikhayan bhavaanan bhavean |

He Pervades in the Past, Future and Present

ਨਮੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਬਿਕਾਰੰ ਨਮੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਜੁਰੇਅੰ ॥

namo nribikaaran namo nrijurean |

I Salute Him, Who is without vices and without ailments

ਨਮੋ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਵੰ ਨਮੋ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜੰ ॥

namo dev devan namo raaj raajan |

I Salute Him, Who is the god of gods and king of kings

ਨਿਰਾਲੰਬ ਨਿਤ︀ਯੰ ਸੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਧਿਰਾਜੰ ॥੯॥

niraalanb nitayan su raajaa dhiraajan |9|

He is Supportless, Eternal and Greatest of Emperors. 9

ਅਲੇਖੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ਅਭੂਤੰ ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ॥

alekhan abhekhan abhootan advaikhan |

He is Accountless, Guiseless, Elementless and Blemishless

ਨ ਰਾਗੰ ਨ ਰੰਗੰ ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਰੇਖੰ ॥

n raagan na rangan na roopan na rekhan |

He is without attachment, colour, form and mark

ਮਹਾ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਵੰ ਮਹਾ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗੰ ॥

mahaa dev devan mahaa jog jogan |

He is the Greatest of gods and the Supreme Yogi

ਮਹਾ ਕਾਮ ਕਾਮੰ ਮਹਾ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗੰ ॥੧੦॥

mahaa kaam kaaman mahaa bhog bhogan |10|

He is the Greatest of the rapturous and the greatest of the Ravishing. 10

ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜਸੰ ਤਾਮਸੰ ਸਾਤਕੇਅੰ ॥

kahoon raajasan taamasan saatakean |

Somewhere He bears the quality of rajas (activity), somewhere tamas (morbidity) and somewhere sattva (rhythm)

ਕਹੂੰ ਨਾਰ ਕੇ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰੇ ਨਰੇਅੰ ॥

kahoon naar ke roop dhaare narean |

Somewhere He takes the form of a woman and somewhere man

ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਵੀਅੰ ਦੇਵਤੰ ਦਈਤ ਰੂਪੰ ॥

kahoon deveean devatan deet roopan |

Somewhere He manifests Himself as a goddess, god and demon

ਕਹੂੰ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੇਕ ਧਾਰੇ ਅਨੂਪੰ ॥੧੧॥

kahoon roop anek dhaare anoopan |11|

Somewhere He appears in several unique forms. 11

ਕਹੂੰ ਫੂਲ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਭਲੇ ਰਾਜ ਫੂਲੇ ॥

kahoon fool hvai kai bhale raaj foole |

Somewhere He, taking the form of a flower, is rightly puffed up

ਕਹੂੰ ਭਵਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਭੂਲੇ ॥

kahoon bhavar hvai kai bhalee bhaant bhoole |

Somewhere becoming a black bee, seems inebriated (for the flower)

ਕਹੂੰ ਪਉਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਬਹੇ ਬੇਗਿ ਐਸੇ ॥

kahoon paun hvai kai bahe beg aise |

Somewhere becoming the wind, moves with such speed,

ਕਹੇ ਮੋ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਥੋਂ ਤਾਹਿ ਕੈਸੇ ॥੧੨॥

kahe mo na aavai kathon taeh kaise |12|

Which is indescribable, how can I elucidate it?. 12

ਕਹੂੰ ਨਾਦ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਾਜੇ ॥

kahoon naad hvai kai bhalee bhaant baaje |

Somewhere He become a musical instrument, which is played appropriately

ਕਹੂੰ ਪਾਰਧੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਧਰੇ ਬਾਨ ਰਾਜੇ ॥

kahoon paaradhee hvai kai dhare baan raaje |

Somewhere He becomes a hunter who looks glorious with His arrow (in His bow)

ਕਹੂੰ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਮੋਹੇ ॥

kahoon mrig hvai kai bhalee bhaant mohe |

Somewhere He becomes a deer and allures exquisitely

ਕਹੂੰ ਕਾਮੁਕੀ ਜਿਉ ਧਰੇ ਰੂਪ ਸੋਹੇ ॥੧੩॥

kahoon kaamukee jiau dhare roop sohe |13|

Somewhere He manifests Himself as Cupid’s wife, with impressive beauty. 13

ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਨ ਜਾਈ ਕਛੂ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖੰ ॥

naheen jaan jaaee kachhoo roop rekhan |

His Form and Mark cannot be comprehended

ਕਹਾਂ ਬਾਸ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਫਿਰੈ ਕਉਨ ਭੇਖੰ ॥

kahaan baas taa ko firai kaun bhekhan |

Where doth He live and what guise doth He adopt?

ਕਹਾ ਨਾਮ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਹਾ ਕੈ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥

kahaa naam taa ko kahaa kai kahaavai |

What is His Name and how he is called?

ਕਹਾ ਮੈ ਬਖਾਨੋ ਕਹੇ ਮੋ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੧੪॥

kahaa mai bakhaano kahe mo na aavai |14|

How can I describle? He is Indescribable. 14

ਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਤ ਮਾਤੰ ਨ ਭਾਯੰ ॥

n taa ko koee taat maatan na bhaayan |

He hath no father, mother and brother

ਨ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਪੌਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਦਾਯਾ ਨ ਦਾਯੰ ॥

n putran na pauatran na daayaa na daayan |

He hath no son, no grandson and no male and female nurses

ਨ ਨੇਹੰ ਨ ਗੇਹੰ ਨ ਸੈਨੰ ਨ ਸਾਥੰ ॥

n nehan na gehan na sainan na saathan |

He hath no attachment, no home, no army and no companion

ਮਹਾ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜੰ ਮਹਾ ਨਾਥ ਨਾਥੰ ॥੧੫॥

mahaa raaj raajan mahaa naath naathan |15|

He is the Great King of kings and Great Lord of lords. 15

ਪਰਮੰ ਪੁਰਾਨੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਪਰੇਯੰ ॥

paraman puraanan pavitran pareyan |

He is Supreme, Ancient, Immaculate and in the Yond

ਅਨਾਦੰ ਅਨੀਲੰ ਅਸੰਭੰ ਅਜੇਯੰ ॥

anaadan aneelan asanbhan ajeyan |

He is beginningless Stainless, Non-existent and Unconquerable

ਅਭੇਦੰ ਅਛੇਦੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥੰ ॥

abhedan achhedan pavitran pramaathan |

He is Indistinguishable, Indestructible, Holy and Paramount

ਮਹਾ ਦੀਨ ਦੀਨੰ ਮਹਾ ਨਾਥ ਨਾਥੰ ॥੧੬॥

mahaa deen deenan mahaa naath naathan |16|

He is the Most Humble of the meek and Great Lord of lords. 16

ਅਦਾਗੰ ਅਦੱਗੰ ਅਲੇਖੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ॥

adaagan adagan alekhan abhekhan |

He is Stainless, Imperishable, Accountless and Guiseless

ਅਨੰਤੰ ਅਨੀਲੰ ਅਰੂਪੰ ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ॥

anantan aneelan aroopan advaikhan |

He is Limitless, Blemishless, Formless and Maliceless

ਮਹਾ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਜੰ ਮਹਾ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਜ੍ਵਾਲੰ ॥

mahaa tej tejan mahaa jvaal jvaalan |

He is the Most Effulgent of all lights and Supreme Conflagration of all fires

ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੰ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਕਾਲੰ ॥੧੭॥

mahaa mantr mantran mahaa kaal kaalan |17|

He is the Supreme Spell of all incantations and Supreme embodiment of Death over all such powers. 17

ਕਰੰ ਬਾਮ ਚਾਪਿਯੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ ਕਰਾਲੰ ॥

karan baam chaapiyan kripaanan karaalan |

He holds the bow in His left hand and the terrible sword (in the right)

ਮਹਾ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਜੰ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ਬਿਸਾਲੰ ॥

mahaa tej tejan biraajai bisaalan |

He is the Supreme Effulgence of all lights and sits in His Great Glory

ਮਹਾਂ ਦਾੜ੍ਹ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੰ ਸੁ ਸੋਹੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥

mahaan daarrh daarrhan su sohan apaaran |

He, of Infinite Splendour, is the masher of of the boar-incarnation with great grinder tooth

ਜਿਨੈ ਚਰਬੀਯੰ ਜੀਵ ਜੱਗ︀ਯੰ ਹਜਾਰੰ ॥੧੮॥

jinai charabeeyan jeev jagayan hajaaran |18|

He crushed and devoured thousands of the creatures of the world. 18

ਡਮਾਡੱਮ ਡਉਰੂ ਸਿਤਾ ਸੇਤ ਛਤ੍ਰੰ ॥

ddamaaddam ddauroo sitaa set chhatran |

The tabor (in the hand of Great Death (KAL) resounds and the black and white canopy swings

ਹਾਹਾ ਹੂਹੂ ਹਾਸੰ ਝਮਾਝੱਮ ਅਤ੍ਰੰ ॥

haahaa hoohoo haasan jhamaajham atran |

Loud laughter emanates from his mouth and the weapons (in his hands) glisten

ਮਹਾ ਘੋਰ ਸਬਦੰ ਬਜੇ ਸੰਖ ਐਸੇ ॥

mahaa ghor sabadan baje sankh aise |

His conch produces such a terrible sound

ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧੯॥

pralai kaal ke kaal kee jvaal jaise |19|

That appears like the blazing fire of the Death on doomsday. 19

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Siree Raag, Third Mehl:

ਜਗਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਗੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥

jag haumai mail dukh paaeaa mal laagee doojai bhaae |

The world is polluted with the filth of egotism, suffering in pain. This filth sticks to them because of their love of duality.

ਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਧੋਤੀ ਕਿਵੈ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇ ॥

mal haumai dhotee kivai na utarai je sau teerath naae |

This filth of egotism cannot be washed away, even by taking cleansing baths at hundreds of sacred shrines.

ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਦੂਣੀ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਗੀ ਆਇ ॥

bahu bidh karam kamaavade doonee mal laagee aae |

Performing all sorts of rituals, people are smeared with twice as much filth.

ਪੜਿਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

parriai mail na utarai poochhahu giaaneea jaae |1|

This filth is not removed by studying. Go ahead, and ask the wise ones. ||1||

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

man mere gur saran aavai taa niramal hoe |

O my mind, coming to the Sanctuary of the Guru, you shall become immaculate and pure.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਥਕੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਸਕੀ ਧੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

manamukh har har kar thake mail na sakee dhoe |1| rahaau |

The self-willed manmukhs have grown weary of chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, but their filth cannot be removed. ||1||Pause||

ਮਨਿ ਮੈਲੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥

man mailai bhagat na hovee naam na paaeaa jaae |

With a polluted mind, devotional service cannot be performed, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, cannot be obtained.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੇ ਮੈਲੇ ਮੁਏ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥

manamukh maile maile mue jaasan pat gavaae |

The filthy, self-willed manmukhs die in filth, and they depart in disgrace.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

gur parasaadee man vasai mal haumai jaae samaae |

By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to abide in the mind, and the filth of egotism is dispelled.

ਜਿਉ ਅੰਧੇਰੈ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਬਾਲੀਐ ਤਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਤਜਾਇ ॥੨॥

jiau andherai deepak baaleeai tiau gur giaan agiaan tajaae |2|

Like a lamp lit in the darkness, the spiritual wisdom of the Guru dispels ignorance. ||2||

ਹਮ ਕੀਆ ਹਮ ਕਰਹਗੇ ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

ham keea ham karahage ham moorakh gaavaar |

"I have done this, and I will do that" - I am an idiotic fool for saying this!

ਕਰਣੈ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

karanai vaalaa visariaa doojai bhaae piaar |

I have forgotten the Doer of all; I am caught in the love of duality.

ਮਾਇਆ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਭਿ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

maaeaa jevadd dukh nahee sabh bhav thake sansaar |

There is no pain as great as the pain of Maya; it drives people to wander all around the world, until they become exhausted.

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥

guramatee sukh paaeeai sach naam ur dhaar |3|

Through the Guru's Teachings, peace is found, with the True Name enshrined in the heart. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥

jis no mele so milai hau tis balihaarai jaau |

I am a sacrifice to those who meet and merge with the Lord.

ਏ ਮਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਜ ਥਾਉ ॥

e man bhagatee ratiaa sach baanee nij thaau |

This mind is attuned to devotional worship; through the True Word of Gurbani, it finds its own home.

ਮਨਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਚੇ ਗਾਉ ॥

man rate jihavaa ratee har gun sache gaau |

With the mind so imbued, and the tongue imbued as well, sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸਚੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੬੪॥

naanak naam na veesarai sache maeh samaau |4|31|64|

O Nanak, never forget the Naam; immerse yourself in the True One. ||4||31||64||

Siree Raag, Fourth Mehl, First House:

ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇ ॥

mai man tan birahu at agalaa kiau preetam milai ghar aae |

Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?

ਜਾ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

jaa dekhaa prabh aapanaa prabh dekhiai dukh jaae |

When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.

ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਾ ਤਿਨ ਸਜਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥

jaae puchhaa tin sajanaa prabh kit bidh milai milaae |1|

I go and ask my friends, "How can I meet and merge with God?" ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

mere satiguraa mai tujh bin avar na koe |

O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ham moorakh mugadh saranaagatee kar kirapaa mele har soe |1| rahaau |

I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

satigur daataa har naam kaa prabh aap milaavai soe |

The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

satigur har prabh bujhiaa gur jevadd avar na koe |

The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥

hau gur saranaaee dteh pavaa kar deaa mele prabh soe |2|

I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. ||2||

ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਥਕੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

manahatth kinai na paaeaa kar upaav thake sabh koe |

No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥

sehas siaanap kar rahe man korai rang na hoe |

Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord's Love.

ਕੂੜਿ ਕਪਟਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਖਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥

koorr kapatt kinai na paaeo jo beejai khaavai soe |3|

By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. Whatever you plant, you shall eat. ||3||

ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

sabhanaa teree aas prabh sabh jeea tere toon raas |

O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥

prabh tudhahu khaalee ko nahee dar guramukhaa no saabaas |

O God, none return from You empty-handed; at Your Door, the Gurmukhs are praised and acclaimed.

ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਕਢਿ ਲੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੬੫॥

bikh bhaujal ddubade kadt lai jan naanak kee aradaas |4|1|65|

In the terrifying world-ocean of poison, people are drowning-please lift them up and save them! This is servant Nanak's humble prayer. ||4||1||65||
