ਮਿਲੇ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਕੇ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਇ ॥
mile aae kai kuttanb ke at hee harakh badtaae |
He came to meet his family, there was increase in the happiness of all
ਸੁਖ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਭਯੋ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਗਈ ਪਰਾਇ ॥੮੯੨॥
sukh tih ko praapat bhayo chitavan gee paraae |892|
All felt comforted and th uncertainty was destroyed.892.
ਇਤਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਸੀਖ ਕੈ ਸੰਦੀਪਨ ਕੋ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਆਨਿ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਆਵਤ ਭਏ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥
eit sasatr bidiaa seekh kai sandeepan ko putr aan de kar bidaa hoe grih ko aavat bhe dhiaae samaapatan |
End of the description entitled “After learning archery, the Guru’s dead son was brought back from the world of Yama and given back to his father as a religious gift.”

SWAYYA
ਸੋਵਤ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਸਨ ਸਿਉ ਇਹ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਈਯੈ ॥
sovat hee ih chint karee brij baasan siau ih kaaraj keeyai |
At the time of going to sleep, Krishna thought that he should do something for the residents of Braja
ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਭਏ ਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਕੈ ਊਧਵ ਭੇਜ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰਹਿ ਦਈਯੈ ॥
praat bhe te bulaae kai aoodhav bhej kahiyo tih tthaureh deeyai |
Udhava be called early in the morning and sent to Braja,
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਕਰੈ ਹਮਰੀ ਧਰਮ ਮਈਯੈ ॥
gvaaran jaae santokh karai su santokh karai hamaree dharam meeyai |
So that he may convey words of comfort to his god-mother and the gopis and gopas
ਯਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਬਾਤ ਭਲੀ ਕਛੁ ਅਉਰ ਹੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਬੇਕਹਿ ਕੋ ਝਗਰਈਯੈ ॥੮੯੩॥
yaa te na baat bhalee kachh aaur hai mohi bibekeh ko jhagareeyai |893|
And then there is no other way to solve the conflict of love and knowledge.893.
ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਭਏ ਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਕੈ ਊਧਵ ਪੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਭੂਮਹਿ ਭੇਜ ਦਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
praat bhe te bulaae kai aoodhav pai brij bhoomeh bhej dayo hai |
When the day dawned, Krishna called Udhava and sent him to Braja
ਸੋ ਚਲਿ ਨੰਦ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਗਯੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਕਹਿ ਸੋਕ ਅਸੋਕ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
so chal nand ke dhaam gayo bateeyaa keh sok asok bhayo hai |
He reached the house of Nand, where the grief of all was dispelled
ਨੰਦ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਊਧਵ ਕੇ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਚਿਤ ਕਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
nand kahiyo sang aoodhav ke kabahoon har jee muhi chit kayo hai |
Nand asked Udhava whether Krishna had ever remembered him
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮਹਿ ਕੈ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰ ਸੋ ਮੁਰਝਾਇ ਪਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੮੯੪॥
yau keh kai sudh sayaameh kai dharanee par so murajhaae payo hai |894|
Saying only this, he, on remembering Krishna, became unconscious and fell down on the earth.894.
ਜਬ ਨੰਦ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਗਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਬ ਯਾਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਅਏ ॥
jab nand pariyo gir bhoom bikhai tab yaeh kahiyo jadubeer ae |
When Nand fell down on the earth, Udhava said that the hero of Yadavas had come
ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਉਠਿ ਠਾਢ ਭਯੋ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਪਰਾਇ ਗਏ ॥
sun kai bateeyaa utth tthaadt bhayo man ke sabh sok paraae ge |
Hearing these words, forsaking his sorrow,
ਉਠ ਕੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਤ ਊਧਵ ਪੇਚ ਕਏ ॥
autth kai sudh so ih bhaat kahiyo ham jaanat aoodhav pech ke |
ਤਜ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੋ ਪੁਰ ਬੀਚ ਗਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਅਏ ॥੮੯੫॥
taj kai brij ko pur beech ge fir kai brij mai nahee sayaam ae |895|
Nand stood up and said, “O Udava! I know that you and Krishna have deceived us because after abandoning Braja and going to the city, Krishna had never returned.895.
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਗਏ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
sayaam ge taj kai brij ko brij logan ko at hee dukh deeno |
“Krishna, forsaking Braja, has given extreme grief to all the people
ਊਧਵ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਹਮਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਯੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਪੁਰ ਹੀਨੋ ॥
aoodhav baat suno hamaree tih kai bin bhayo hamaro pur heeno |
O Udhava! without him, Braja has become poor
ਦੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਨੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਛੀਨੋ ॥
dai bidh nai hamare grih baalak paap binaa ham te fir chheeno |
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਕ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਰੋਦਨ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੮੯੬॥
yau keh sees jhukaae rahiyo bahu sok badtiyo at rodan keeno |896|
“The Lord-God gave a son in our house, but we do not know, for which sin of our he has snatched him from us?” Saying this Nand bowed his head and began to weep.896.
ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਧਰਿ ਪੈ ਉਠਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਊਧਵ ਇਉ ॥
keh kai ih baat pariyo dhar pai utth fer kahiyo sang aoodhav iau |
ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਹਮ ਸੰਗ ਕਹੋ ਕਬ ਕਾਰਨਿ ਕਿਉ ॥
taj kai brij sayaam ge mathuraa ham sang kaho kab kaaran kiau |
Saying this, he fell down on the earth and getting up again, he said to Udhava, “O Udhava! tell me the reason why Krishna has left Braja and has gone to Matura?
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਅਬ ਪਾਇ ਲਗੋ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਭਈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸੁ ਕਹੋ ਸਭ ਜਿਉ ॥
tumare ab paae lago utth kai su bhee birathaa su kaho sabh jiau |
“I fall at your feet, you should give me all details
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਲੇਤ ਕਛੂ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਪਿ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਕਛੂ ਰਿਸ ਸਿਉ ॥੮੯੭॥
tih te nahee let kachhoo sudh hai muhi paap pachhaan kachhoo ris siau |897|
For what sin of mine, Krishna does not communicate with me?”897.
ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਊਧਵ ਯੌ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਨਿ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਹ ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
sun kai tin aoodhav yau bateeyaa ih bhaatan siau tih utar deeno |
ਥੋ ਸੁਤ ਸੋ ਬਸੁਦੇਵਹਿ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਪੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਨਹੀ ਛੀਨੋ ॥
tho sut so basudeveh ko tum te sabh pai prabh joo nahee chheeno |
Hearing these words, Udhava replied, “He was actually the son of Vasudev, the Lord-God has not snatched him from you,”
ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਰਿ ਕੋ ਪਤਿ ਯੌ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਉਸਾਸ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
sun kai pur ko pat yau bateeyaa kab sayaam usaas kahai tin leeno |
Hearing this, Nand heaved a cold sigh and lost patience
ਧੀਰ ਗਯੋ ਛੁਟਿ ਰੋਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਇਨ ਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਦੇਖਤ ਰੋਦਨ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੮੯੮॥
dheer gayo chhutt rovat bhayo in hoon tih dekhat rodan keeno |898|
And seeing towards Udhava, he began to weep.898.
ਹਠਿ ਊਧਵ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਪੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਕਛੁ ਸੋਕ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
hatth aoodhav kai ih bhaat kahiyo pur ke pat so kachh sok na keejai |
Udhava said persistently, “O Lord of Braja! do not be sorrowful
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਜੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
sayaam kahee muhi jo bateeyaa tih kee birathaa sabh hee sun leejai |
Whatever Krishna has asked me to convey to you, all of you may listen to me
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਹੋਤ ਖੁਸੀ ਮਨ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਕੋ ਮੁਖ ਜੀਜੈ ॥
jaa kee kathaa sun hot khusee man dekhat hee jis ko mukh jeejai |
“He, hering whose words, the mind is pleased and seeing whose face all receive life-force,
ਵਾਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੋ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਇਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਛੀਜੈ ॥੮੯੯॥
vaeh kahiyo neh chint karo na kachhoo ih te tumaro fun chheejai |899|
That Krishna has asked you to abandon all anxiety, you would lose nothing.”899.
ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਇਮ ਊਧਵ ਤੇ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਊਧਵ ਕੋ ਸੋਊ ਪੂਛਨ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ॥
sun kai im aoodhav te bateeyaa fir aoodhav ko soaoo poochhan laagiyo |
Hearing the talk of Udhava in this way, Nand further questioned Udhava and hearing the story of Krishna
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਚਿਤ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਿਓ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਦੁਖ ਭਾਗਿਯੋ ॥
kaanrah kathaa sun chit ke beech hulaas badtio sabh hee dukh bhaagiyo |
All his grief was dispelled and happiness was increased in his mind
ਅਉਰ ਦਈ ਸਭ ਛੋਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੈਬੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਨੁਰਾਗਿਯੋ ॥
aaur dee sabh chhor kathaa har baat sunaibe bikhai anuraagiyo |
He forsook all other talk and absorbed himself in knowing about Krishna
ਧ︀ਯਾਨ ਲਗਾਵਤ ਜਿਉ ਜੁਗੀਯਾ ਇਹ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਧ︀ਯਾਨ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰ ਪਾਗਿਯੋ ॥੯੦੦॥
dhayaan lagaavat jiau jugeeyaa ih tiau har dhayaan ke bheetar paagiyo |900|
The way in which the yogis meditate, just like that he only concentrated on Krishna.900.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਊਧਵ ਜਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਮੈ ਜਹ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
yau keh aoodhav jaat bhayo brij mai jeh gvaaran kee sudh paaee |
After saying this, Udhava went to the village in order to apprise himself about the state of gopis
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੋਕ ਕੋ ਧਾਮ ਹੁਤੋ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਠਉਰ ਰਹੇ ਸੁ ਤਹਾ ਮੁਰਝਾਈ ॥
maanahu sok ko dhaam huto drum tthaur rahe su tahaa murajhaaee |
All the Braja appeared to him as the abode of sorrow, there the trees and plants had withered with grief
ਮੋਨ ਰਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬੈਠਿ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਮਨੋ ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਇਹ ਤੇ ਦੁਚਿਤਾਈ ॥
mon rahee grih baitth treeyaa mano yau upajee ih te duchitaaee |
The women were sitting silently in their houses
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੁਨੇ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ︀ਯ ਭਈ ਨਹਿ ਆਇ ਸੁਨੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੀ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੯੦੧॥
sayaam sune te prasanay bhee neh aae sune fir bhee dukhadaaee |901|
They appeared to be entrapped in a great uncertainty, they became pleased when they heard about Krishna, but when they came to know this that he had not come, they felt anguish.901.

ਊਧਵ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
aoodhav gvaaran so ih bhaat kahiyo har kee bateeyaa sun leejai |
Udhava said to the gopis, “Liston to me all about Krishna
ਮਾਰਗ ਜਾਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਚਲੀਯੈ ਜੋਊ ਕਾਜ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੋਊ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
maarag jaeh kahiyo chaleeyai joaoo kaaj kahiyo soaoo kaaraj keejai |
The path on which he has asked you to tread, walk on it and whatever work he has asked you to do, you may do that
ਜੋਗਿਨ ਫਾਰਿ ਸਭੈ ਪਟ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਯੌ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੋਊ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
jogin faar sabhai patt hovahu yau tum so kahiyo soaoo kareejai |
“Tear our garments and become yogins and whatever is being said to you, you may do that
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੀ ਓਰਿ ਰਹੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ਰੀ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਨਹੀ ਖੀਜੈ ॥੯੦੨॥
taahee kee or raho liv laae ree yaa te kachhoo tumaro nahee kheejai |902|
You may concentrate your attention on him, you shall not be doing anything wrong by this.”902.
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਹਾ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਜਾਈਁ ॥
jahaa patthaavahu teh teh jaaee |
Wherever You send me, there I go.
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਁ ॥੧॥
jo tum dehu soee sukh paaee |1|
Whatever You give me, brings me peace. ||1||
ਸਦਾ ਚੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥
sadaa chere govind gosaaee |
I am forever the chaylaa, the humble disciple, of the Lord of the Universe, the Sustainer of the World.
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈਁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumaree kripaa te tripat aghaaee |1| rahaau |
By Your Grace, I am satisfied and satiated. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮਰਾ ਦੀਆ ਪੈਨੑਉ ਖਾਈਁ ॥
tumaraa deea painau khaaee |
Whatever You give me, I wear and eat.
ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਲਾਈਁ ॥੨॥
tau prasaad prabh sukhee valaaee |2|
By Your Grace, O God, my life passes peacefully. ||2||
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੁਝੈ ਧਿਆਈਁ ॥
man tan antar tujhai dhiaaee |
Deep within my mind and body, I meditate on You.
ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਲਾਈਁ ॥੩॥
tumarai lavai na koaoo laaee |3|
I recognize none as equal to You. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਤ ਇਵੈ ਧਿਆਈਁ ॥
kahu naanak nit ivai dhiaaee |
Says Nanak, this is my continual meditation:
ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੰਤਹ ਲਗਿ ਪਾਈਁ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੦॥
gat hovai santah lag paaee |4|9|60|
that I may be emancipated, clinging to the Feet of the Saints. ||4||9||60||

ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aootthat baitthat sovat dhiaaeeai |
While standing up, and sitting down, and even while asleep, meditate on the Lord.
ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਤ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
maarag chalat hare har gaaeeai |1|
Walking on the Way, sing the Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨੀਜੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ॥
sravan suneejai amrit kathaa |
With your ears, listen to the Ambrosial Sermon.
ਜਾਸੁ ਸੁਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਮਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਲਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaas sunee man hoe anandaa dookh rog man sagale lathaa |1| rahaau |
Listening to it, your mind shall be filled with bliss, and the troubles and diseases of your mind shall all depart. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਰਜਿ ਕਾਮਿ ਬਾਟ ਘਾਟ ਜਪੀਜੈ ॥
kaaraj kaam baatt ghaatt japeejai |
While you work at your job, on the road and at the beach, meditate and chant.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
gur prasaad har amrit peejai |2|
By Guru's Grace, drink in the Ambrosial Essence of the Lord. ||2||
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
dinas rain har keeratan gaaeeai |
The humble being who sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, day and night,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਵਾਟ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
so jan jam kee vaatt na paaeeai |3|
does not have to go with the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
aatth pehar jis visareh naahee |
One who does not forget the Lord, twenty-four hours a day, is emancipated;
ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੧॥
gat hovai naanak tis lag paaee |4|10|61|
O Nanak, I fall at his feet. ||4||10||61||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
jaa kai simaran sookh nivaas |
Remembering Him in meditation, one abides in peace;
ਭਈ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਦੁਖ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
bhee kaliaan dukh hovat naas |1|
one becomes happy, and suffering is ended. ||1||
ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur apanaa sad sadaa manaavahu |1| rahaau |
Forever and ever, surrender to the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ ॥
satigur kaa sach sabad kamaavahu |
Act in accordance with the Shabad, the True Word of the True Guru.
ਥਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥
thir ghar baitthe prabh apanaa paavahu |2|
Remain steady and stable within the home of your own self, and find God. ||2||
ਪਰ ਕਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਚੀਤ ॥
par kaa buraa na raakhahu cheet |
Do not harbor evil intentions against others in your mind,
ਤੁਮ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
tum kau dukh nahee bhaaee meet |3|
and you shall not be troubled, O Siblings of Destiny, O friends. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੰਤੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੑਾ ॥
har har tant mant gur deenaa |
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is the Tantric exercise, and the Mantra, given by the Guru.
ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਚੀਨੑਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੨॥
eihu sukh naanak anadin cheenaa |4|11|62|
Nanak knows this peace alone, night and day. ||4||11||62||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa 5 |
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਸੁ ਨੀਚ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
jis neech kau koee na jaanai |
That wretched being, whom no one knows
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਹੁ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਮਾਨੈ ॥੧॥
naam japat uhu chahu kuntt maanai |1|
- chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he is honored in the four directions. ||1||
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਾਗਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
darasan maagau dehi piaare |
I beg for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please, give it to me, O Beloved!
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਉਨ ਕਉਨ ਨ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumaree sevaa kaun kaun na taare |1| rahaau |
Serving You, who, who has not been saved? ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
jaa kai nikatt na aavai koee |
That person, whom no one wants to be near
ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਆ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਈ ॥੨॥
sagal srisatt uaa ke charan mal dhoee |2|
- the whole world comes to wash the dirt of his feet. ||2||
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਮ ॥
jo praanee kaahoo na aavat kaam |
That mortal, who is of no use to anyone at all
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
sant prasaad taa ko japeeai naam |3|
- by the Grace of the Saints, he meditates on the Naam. ||3||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
saadhasang man sovat jaage |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the sleeping mind awakens.
ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੀਠੇ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੩॥
tab prabh naanak meetthe laage |4|12|63|
Then, O Nanak, God seems sweet. ||4||12||63||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੀ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਉ ॥
eko ekee nain nihaarau |
With my eyes, I behold the One and Only Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਉ ॥੧॥
sadaa sadaa har naam samaarau |1|
Forever and ever, I contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮਾ ਰਾਮਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
raam raamaa raamaa gun gaavau |
I sing the Praises of the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam.
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant prataap saadh kai sange har har naam dhiaavau re |1| rahaau |
By the graceful favor of the Saints, I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਈ ॥
sagal samagree jaa kai soot paroee |
Everything is strung on His string.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
ghatt ghatt antar raviaa soee |2|
He is contained in each and every heart. ||2||
ਓਪਤਿ ਪਰਲਉ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
opat parlau khin meh karataa |
He creates and destroys in an instant.
ਆਪਿ ਅਲੇਪਾ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੩॥
aap alepaa niragun rahataa |3|
He Himself remains unattached, and without attributes. ||3||
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
karan karaavan antarajaamee |
He is the Creator, the Cause of causes, the Searcher of hearts.
ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੬੪॥
anand karai naanak kaa suaamee |4|13|64|
Nanak's Lord and Master celebrates in bliss. ||4||13||64||
