ਫਾਗੁਨ ਮੈ ਸਖੀ ਡਾਰਿ ਗੁਲਾਲ ਸਭੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਨ ਬੀਚ ਰਮੈ ॥
faagun mai sakhee ddaar gulaal sabhai har siau ban beech ramai |
In the moth of Phalgun, the young damsels are roaming with Krishna in the forest, throwing dry colours on each other
ਪਿਚਕਾਰਨ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਗਾਵਤਿ ਗੀਤ ਸਭੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ॥
pichakaaran lai kar gaavat geet sabhai mil gvaaran taun samai |
Taking the pumps in their hands, they are singing charming songs:
ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਕਿਧੌ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਦੂਰ ਗਮੈ ॥
at sundar kunj galeen ke beech kidhau man ke kar door gamai |
ਅਰੁ ਤ︀ਯਾਗਿ ਤਮੈ ਸਭ ਧਾਮਨ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੀ ਮਾਨਿ ਤਮੈ ॥੮੬੭॥
ar tayaag tamai sabh dhaaman kee ih sundar sayaam kee maan tamai |867|
Removing the sorrows from their mind they are running in the alcoves and in the love of the beautiful Krishna, they have forgotten the decorum of their house.867.
ਫੂਲਿ ਸੀ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਫੂਲਿ ਰਹੀ ਪਟ ਰੰਗਨ ਕੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਫੂਲ ਲੀਏ ॥
fool see gvaaran fool rahee patt rangan ke fun fool lee |
The gopis are blooming like flowers with the flowers attached to their garments
ਇਕ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਸੁ ਗਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਕੋਕਿਲਕਾ ਸਮ ਹੋਤ ਜੀਏ ॥
eik sayaam seegaar su gaavat hai pun kokilakaa sam hot jee |
After bedecking themselves they are singing for Krishna like nightingale
ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਯੋ ਸਜਨੀ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਛਾਜ ਸੁ ਸਾਜ ਦੀਏ ॥
rit naameh sayaam bhayo sajanee tih te sabh chhaaj su saaj dee |
Now it is the spring season, therefore they have forsaken all the embellishment
ਪਿਖਿ ਜਾ ਚਤੁਰਾਨਨ ਚਉਕਿ ਰਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੋਤ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਹੀਏ ॥੮੬੮॥
pikh jaa chaturaanan chauk rahai jih dekhat hot hulaas hee |868|
Seeing their glory even Brahma is wonder-struck.868.
ਏਕ ਸਮੈ ਰਹੈ ਕਿੰਸੁਕ ਫੂਲਿ ਸਖੀ ਤਹ ਪਉਨ ਬਹੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
ek samai rahai kinsuk fool sakhee teh paun bahai sukhadaaee |
Once the flowers of palas were blooming and the comfort-giving wind was blowing
ਭਉਰ ਗੁੰਜਾਰਤ ਹੈ ਇਤ ਤੇ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਬਜਾਈ ॥
bhaur gunjaarat hai it te ut te muralee nand laal bajaaee |
The black bees were humming here and there, Krishna had played on his flute
ਰੀਝਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਰ ਮੰਡਲ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਬਰਨਿਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਈ ॥
reejh rahiyo sun kai sur manddal taa chhab ko baraniyo nahee jaaee |
Hearing this flute the gods were getting pleased and the beauty of that spectacle is indescribable
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਅਉਸਰ ਯਾਹਿ ਭਈ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੬੯॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee rit aausar yaeh bhee dukhadaaee |869|
At that time, that season was joy-giving, but now the same has become distressing.869.
ਜੇਠ ਸਮੈ ਸਖੀ ਤੀਰ ਨਦੀ ਹਮ ਖੇਲਤ ਚਿਤਿ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਾਈ ॥
jetth samai sakhee teer nadee ham khelat chit hulaas badtaaee |
In the month of Jeth, O friend! we used to be absorbed in amorous play on the bank of the river, being pleased in our mind
ਚੰਦਨ ਸੋ ਤਨ ਲੀਪ ਸਭੈ ਸੁ ਗੁਲਾਬਹਿ ਸੋ ਧਰਨੀ ਛਿਰਕਾਈ ॥
chandan so tan leep sabhai su gulaabeh so dharanee chhirakaaee |
We plastered our bodies with sandal and sprinkled rose-water on the earth
ਲਾਇ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਭਲੀ ਕਪਰਿਯੋ ਪਰ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਬਰਨੀ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਈ ॥
laae sugandh bhalee kapariyo par taa kee prabhaa baranee nahee jaaee |
We applied fragrance to our clothes and that glory is indescribable
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਇਹ ਅਉਸਰ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੦॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee ih aausar sayaam binaa dukhadaaee |870|
That occasion was highly pleasing, but now the same occasion has become troublesome without Krishna.870.
ਪਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਚਲੈ ਜਿਹ ਅਉਸਰ ਅਉਰ ਬਘੂਲਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਉਡਾਈ ॥
paun prachandd chalai jih aausar aaur baghoolan dhoor uddaaee |
ਧੂਪ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਹ ਮਾਸ ਬੁਰੀ ਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਸੀਤਲ ਜਾਈ ॥
dhoop lagai jih maas buree su lagai sukhadaaeik seetal jaaee |
The time, when the wind blew ferociously, the cranes arose and the sunshine was agonizing, even that time appeared to us as joy-giving
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਸਭੈ ਹਮ ਖੇਲਤ ਸੀਤਲ ਪਾਟਕ ਕਾਬਿ ਛਟਾਈ ॥
sayaam ke sang sabhai ham khelat seetal paattak kaab chhattaaee |
All of us played with Krishna splashing water on one another
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਅਉਸਰ ਯਾਹਿ ਭਈ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੧॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee rit aausar yaeh bhee dukhadaaee |871|
That time was extremely comfort-giving, but now the same time has become agonising.871.
ਜੋਰਿ ਘਟਾ ਘਟ ਆਏ ਜਹਾ ਸਖੀ ਬੂੰਦਨ ਮੇਘ ਭਲੀ ਛਬਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jor ghattaa ghatt aae jahaa sakhee boondan megh bhalee chhab paaee |
Look, O friend! the clouds have surrounded us and it is a beautiful spectacle created by raindrops
ਬੋਲਤ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਦਾਦਰ ਅਉ ਘਨ ਮੋਰਨ ਪੈ ਘਨਘੋਰ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
bolat chaatrik daadar aau ghan moran pai ghanaghor lagaaee |
The sound of cuckoo, peacock and frog is resounding
ਤਾਹਿ ਸਮੈ ਹਮ ਕਾਨਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਖੇਲਤ ਥੀ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਢਾਈ ॥
taeh samai ham kaanar ke sang khelat thee at prem badtaaee |
In such a time we were absorbed with Krishna in amorous play
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਅਉਸਰ ਯਾਹਿ ਭਈ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੨॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee rit aausar yaeh bhee dukhadaaee |872|
How much comfortable was that time and now this time is greatly distressing.872.
ਮੇਘ ਪਰੈ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਉਘਰੈ ਸਖੀ ਛਾਇ ਲਗੈ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਕੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
megh parai kabahoon ugharai sakhee chhaae lagai drum kee sukhadaaee |
Sometimes the clouds burst into rain and the shade of the tree appeared comfort-giving
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਜਨੀ ਰੰਗ ਫੂਲਨ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
sayaam ke sang firai sajanee rang foolan ke ham basatr banaaee |
We used to wander with Krishna, wearing the garments of flowers
ਖੇਲਤ ਕ੍ਰੀੜ ਕਰੈ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਅਉਸਰ ਕਉ ਬਰਨਿਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਈ ॥
khelat kreerr karai ras kee ih aausar kau baraniyo nahee jaaee |
While roaming, we were absorbed in amorous play
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸਨੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਤਿ ਭੀ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੩॥
sayaam sanai sukhadaaeik thee rit sayaam binaa at bhee dukhadaaee |873|
It is impossible to describe that occasion, remaining with Krishna, that season has become distressing.873.
ਮਾਸ ਅਸੂ ਹਮ ਕਾਨਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਖੇਲਤ ਚਿਤਿ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਾਈ ॥
maas asoo ham kaanar ke sang khelat chit hulaas badtaaee |
In the month of Ashvin, with great joy, we played with Krishna
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਤਹਾ ਪੁਨਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਥੋ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰਾਗਨ ਤਾਨ ਬਸਾਈ ॥
kaanrah tahaa pun gaavat tho at sundar raagan taan basaaee |
Being intoxicated Krishna used to play on (his flute) and produce tunes of charming musical modes,
ਗਾਵਤ ਥੀ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਸੰਗ ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਬਰਨਿਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਈ ॥
gaavat thee ham hoon sang taahee ke taa chhab ko baraniyo nahee jaaee |
We sang with him and that spectacle is indescribable
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਬ ਭੀ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੪॥
taa sang mai sukhadaaeik thee rit sayaam binaa ab bhee dukhadaaee |874|
We remained in his company, that season was pleasure-giving and now the same season has become distressing.874.
ਕਾਤਿਕ ਕੀ ਸਖੀ ਰਾਸਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਤਿ ਖੇਲਤ ਥੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ॥
kaatik kee sakhee raas bikhai rat khelat thee har so chit laaee |
In the month of Kartik, we, in delight, were absorbed in amorous play with Krishna
ਸੇਤਹਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਪਟ ਛਾਜਤ ਸੇਤ ਨਦੀ ਤਹ ਧਾਰ ਬਹਾਈ ॥
seteh gvaaran ke patt chhaajat set nadee teh dhaar bahaaee |
In the current of the white river, the gopis also wore white clothes
ਭੂਖਨ ਸੇਤਹਿ ਗੋਪਨਿ ਕੇ ਅਰੁ ਮੋਤਿਨ ਹਾਰ ਭਲੀ ਛਬਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
bhookhan seteh gopan ke ar motin haar bhalee chhab paaee |
The gopas also wore white ornaments and necklaces of pearls
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਅਉਸਰ ਯਾਹਿ ਭਈ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੫॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee rit aausar yaeh bhee dukhadaaee |875|
They all looked fine, that time was very comfortable and now this time has become extremely agonising.875.
ਮਘ੍ਰ ਸਮੈ ਸਬ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੁਇ ਖੇਲਤ ਥੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਪਾਈ ॥
maghr samai sab sayaam ke sang hue khelat thee man aanand paaee |
In the month of Maghar, in great pleasure, we used to play with Krishna
ਸੀਤ ਲਗੈ ਤਬ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੈ ਹਮ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਅੰਗ ਸੋ ਅੰਗ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
seet lagai tab door karai ham sayaam ke ang so ang milaaee |
When we felt cold, we removed the coolness by blending our limbs with the limbs of Krishna
ਫੂਲ ਚੰਬੇਲੀ ਕੇ ਫੂਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਜਹਿ ਨੀਰ ਘਟਿਯੋ ਜਮਨਾ ਜੀਅ ਆਈ ॥
fool chanbelee ke fool rahe jeh neer ghattiyo jamanaa jeea aaee |
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਅਉਸਰ ਯਾਹਿ ਭਈ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੬॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee rit aausar yaeh bhee dukhadaaee |876|
The flowers of jasmine are not blooming and in sorrow, the water of Yamuna has also decreased, O friend! the season alongwith Krishna was very joy-giving and this season is very troublesome.876.
ਬੀਚ ਸਰਦ ਰਿਤੁ ਕੇ ਸਜਨੀ ਹਮ ਖੇਲਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
beech sarad rit ke sajanee ham khelat sayaam so preet lagaaee |
ਆਨੰਦ ਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਤਜ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜੀਯ ਕੀ ਦੁਚਿਤਾਈ ॥
aanand kai at hee man mai taj kai sabh hee jeey kee duchitaaee |
In winter season, we all had been happy in the company of Krishna and removing all our doubts we were absorbed in the amorous play
ਨਾਰਿ ਸਭੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੀਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਕ ਕਨ੍ਰਹਾਈ ॥
naar sabhai brij keen bikhai man kee taj kai sabh sank kanrahaaee |
Krishna also unhesitatingly considered all the gopis of Braja as his wives
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਸੋ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਬ ਭੀ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੭॥
taa sang so sukhadaaeik thee rit sayaam binaa ab bhee dukhadaaee |877|
In his company that season was pleasure-giving and now the same season has become troublesome.877.
ਮਾਘ ਬਿਖੈ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਰਸ ਰਾਸ ਕੀ ਖੇਲ ਮਚਾਈ ॥
maagh bikhai mil kai har so ham so ras raas kee khel machaaee |
In the month of Magh, we had made the amorous play very famous in the company of Krishna
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਥੋ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਤਿਹ ਅਉਸਰ ਕੋ ਬਰਨਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
kaanrah bajaavat tho muralee tih aausar ko baraniyo neh jaaee |
At that time, Krishna played on his flute, that occasion cannot be described
ਫੂਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਤਹਿ ਫੂਲ ਭਲੇ ਪਿਖਿਯੋ ਜਿਹ ਰੀਝਿ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਰਰਾਈ ॥
fool rahe teh fool bhale pikhiyo jih reejh rahai suraraaee |
The flowers were blossoming and Indra, the king of gods, was getting pleased on seeing that spectacle
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਥੀ ਰਿਤੁ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਬ ਭੀ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੮੭੮॥
taun samai sukhadaaeik thee rit sayaam binaa ab bhee dukhadaaee |878|
O friend! that season was comfort-giving and now the same season has become distressing.878.
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਸਭੈ ਤਹ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਜੁ ਹੁਤੀ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
sayaam chitaar sabhai teh gvaaran sayaam kahai ju hutee baddabhaagee |
The poet Shyam says, “Those very fortunate gopis are remembering Krishna
ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਦਈ ਸੁਧਿ ਅਉਰ ਸਭੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਤਨ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਭੀਤਰ ਪਾਗੀ ॥
tayaag dee sudh aaur sabhai har baatan ke ras bheetar paagee |
Losing their consciousness, they are absorbed in the passionate love of Krihsna
ਏਕ ਗਿਰੀ ਧਰਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਿਸੁਧੀ ਇਕ ਪੈ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਹੀ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ॥
ek giree dhar hvai bisudhee ik pai karunaa hee bikhai anuraagee |
Someone has fallen down, someone has become unconscious and someone has been fully engrossed in his love
ਕੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਖੇਲਨ ਕੀ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਰੋਵਨ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੮੭੯॥
kai sudh sayaam ke khelan kee mil kai sabh gvaaran rovan laagee |879|
All the gopis have begun weeping after remembering their amorous play with Krishna.879.
ਇਤਿ ਗੋਪੀਅਨ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਲਾਪ ਪੂਰਨੰ ॥
eit gopeean ko brilaap pooranan |
Here ends the lamentation of the gopis.

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਗੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੂਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
aagai hee te sabh kichh hooaa avar ki jaanai giaanaa |
Everything is pre-ordained; what else can be known through study?
ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
bhool chook apanaa baarik bakhasiaa paarabraham bhagavaanaa |1|
The errant child has been forgiven by the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਆ ॥
satigur meraa sadaa deaalaa mohi deen kau raakh leea |
My True Guru is always merciful; He has saved me, the meek one.
ਕਾਟਿਆ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaattiaa rog mahaa sukh paaeaa har amrit mukh naam deea |1| rahaau |
He has cured me of my disease, and I have obtained the greatest peace; He has placed the Ambrosial Name of the Lord in my mouth. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਿਕ ਪਾਪ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ॥
anik paap mere parahariaa bandhan kaatte mukat bhe |
He has washed away my countless sins; He has cut away my bonds, and I am liberated.
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਾ ਘੋਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ॥੨॥
andh koop mahaa ghor te baah pakar gur kaadt lee |2|
He has taken me by the arm, and pulled me out of the terrible, deep dark pit. ||2||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਰਾਖੇ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
nirbhau bhe sagal bhau mittiaa raakhe raakhanahaare |
I have become fearless, and all my fears have been erased. The Savior Lord has saved me.
ਐਸੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
aisee daat teree prabh mere kaaraj sagal savaare |3|
Such is Your generosity, O my God, that You have resolved all my affairs. ||3||
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
gun nidhaan saahib man melaa |
My mind has met with my Lord and Master, the treasure of excellence.
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੪੮॥
saran peaa naanak souhelaa |4|9|48|

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਗੂ ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
toon visareh taan sabh ko laagoo cheet aaveh taan sevaa |
If I forget You, then everyone becomes my enemy. When You come to mind, then they serve me.
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਦੂਜਾ ਸੂਝੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥੧॥
avar na koaoo doojaa soojhai saache alakh abhevaa |1|
I do not know any other at all, O True, Invisible, Inscrutable Lord. ||1||
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਲੋਗਨ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ॥
cheet aavai taan sadaa deaalaa logan kiaa vechaare |
When You come to mind, You are always merciful to me; what can the poor people do to me?
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
buraa bhalaa kahu kis no kaheeai sagale jeea tumaare |1| rahaau |
Tell me, who should I call good or bad, since all beings are Yours? ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰਾ ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ॥
teree ttek teraa aadhaaraa haath dee toon raakheh |
You are my Shelter, You are my Support; giving me Your hand, You protect me.
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਿਪੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਭਾਖੈ ॥੨॥
jis jan aoopar teree kirapaa tis kau bip na koaoo bhaakhai |2|
That humble being, upon whom You bestow Your Grace, is not touched by slander or suffering. ||2||
ਓਹੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਓਹਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
oho sukh ohaa vaddiaaee jo prabh jee man bhaanee |
That is peace, and that is greatness, which is pleasing to the mind of the Dear Lord God.
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਦ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
toon daanaa toon sad miharavaanaa naam milai rang maanee |3|
You are all-knowing, You are forever compassionate; obtaining Your Name, I revel in it and make merry. ||3||
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
tudh aagai aradaas hamaaree jeeo pindd sabh teraa |
I offer my prayer to You; my body and soul are all Yours.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੯॥
kahu naanak sabh teree vaddiaaee koee naau na jaanai meraa |4|10|49|
Says Nanak, this is all Your greatness; no one even knows my name. ||4||10||49||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh antarajaamee saadhasang har paaeeai |
Show Your Mercy, O God, O Searcher of hearts, that in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I might obtain You, Lord.
ਖੋਲਿ ਕਿਵਾਰ ਦਿਖਾਲੇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
khol kivaar dikhaale darasan punarap janam na aaeeai |1|
When You open Your Door, and reveal the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, the mortal is not relegated to reincarnation again. ||1||
ਮਿਲਉ ਪਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਹਰਉ ਰੇ ॥
milau pareetam suaamee apune sagale dookh hrau re |
Meeting with my Beloved Lord aand Master, all my pains are taken away.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਨੑਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarabraham jina ridai araadhiaa taa kai sang trau re |1| rahaau |
I am saved and carried across, in the company of those who remember the Supreme Lord God in their hearts. ||1||Pause||
ਮਹਾ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਪਾਵਕ ਸਾਗਰ ਭਏ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥
mahaa udiaan paavak saagar bhe harakh sog meh basanaa |
This world is a great wilderness, an ocean of fire, in which mortals abide, in pleasure and pain.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ॥੨॥
satigur bhett bheaa man niramal jap amrit har rasanaa |2|
Meeting with the True Guru, the mortal becomes immaculately pure; with his tongue, he chants the Ambrosial Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਕੀਓ ਸਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੋਮਲ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਾਂਧਿਆ ॥
tan dhan thaap keeo sabh apanaa komal bandhan baandhiaa |
He preserves his body and wealth, and takes everything as his own; such are the subtle bonds which bind him.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਜਨ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ॥੩॥
gur parasaad bhe jan mukate har har naam araadhiaa |3|
By Guru's Grace, the mortal becomes liberated, meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
raakh lee prabh raakhanahaarai jo prabh apune bhaane |
God, the Savior, has saved those, who are pleasing to the Will of God.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮੑਰਾ ਦਾਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੫੦॥
jeeo pindd sabh tumaraa daate naanak sad kurabaane |4|11|50|
The soul and body are all Yours, O Great Giver; O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice. ||4||11||50||

ਮੋਹ ਮਲਨ ਨੀਦ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਕਉਨੁ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਭਇਓ ਰੀ ॥
moh malan need te chhuttakee kaun anugrahu bheo ree |
You have avoided the slumber of attachment and impurity - by whose favor has this happened?
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਗਇਓ ਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mahaa mohanee tudh na viaapai teraa aalas kahaa geo ree |1| rahaau |
The great enticer does not affect you. Where has your laziness gone? ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਗਾਖਰੋ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਕਉਨ ਛੁਟਿਓ ਰੀ ॥
kaam krodh ahankaar gaakharo sanjam kaun chhuttio ree |
How have you escaped from the treachery of sexual desire, anger and egotism?
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਸੁਰ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨੀਆ ਸਗਲੋ ਭਵਨੁ ਲੁਟਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੧॥
sur nar dev asur trai guneea sagalo bhavan luttio ree |1|
The holy beings, angels and demons of the three qualities, and all the worlds have been plundered. ||1||
ਦਾਵਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਜਾਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿਆ ਬੂਟੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਰੀ ॥
daavaa agan bahut trin jaale koee hariaa boott rahio ree |
The forest fire has burnt down so much of the grass; how rare are the plants which have remained green.
ਐਸੋ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੨॥
aiso samarath varan na saakau taa kee upamaa jaat na kahio ree |2|
He is so All-powerful, that I cannot even describe Him; no one can chant His Praises. ||2||
ਕਾਜਰ ਕੋਠ ਮਹਿ ਭਈ ਨ ਕਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਰਨੁ ਬਨਿਓ ਰੀ ॥
kaajar kotth meh bhee na kaaree niramal baran banio ree |
In the store-room of the lamp-black, I did not turn black; my color remained immaculate and pure.
ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਅਚਰਜ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੩॥
mahaa mantru gur hiradai basio acharaj naam sunio ree |3|
The Guru has implanted the Maha Mantra, the Great Mantra, within my heart, and I have heard the wondrous Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਦਰਿ ਅਵਲੋਕਨ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh nadar avalokan apunai charan lagaaee |
Showing His Mercy, God has looked upon me with favor, and He has attached me to His feet.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੫੧॥
prem bhagat naanak sukh paaeaa saadhoo sang samaaee |4|12|51|
Through loving devotional worship, O Nanak, I have obtained peace; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am absorbed into the Lord. ||4||12||51||
