Raag Gauree 11:
ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਘਨ ਤੁਰਸੀ ਕਾ ਬਿਰਵਾ ਮਾਝ ਬਨਾ ਰਸਿ ਗਾਊਂ ਰੇ ॥
aas paas ghan turasee kaa biravaa maajh banaa ras gaaoon re |
All around, there are thick bushes of sweet basil, and there in the midst of the forest, the Lord is singing with joy.
ਉਆ ਕਾ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਗੁਆਰਨਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਹੂ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
auaa kaa saroop dekh mohee guaaran mo kau chhodd na aau na jaahoo re |1|
Beholding His wondrous beauty, the milk-maid was entranced, and said, "Please don't leave me; please don't come and go!" ||1||
ਤੋਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਧਰ ॥
tohi charan man laago saaringadhar |
My mind is attached to Your Feet, O Archer of the Universe;
ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜੋ ਬਡਭਾਗੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so milai jo baddabhaago |1| rahaau |
he alone meets You, who is blessed by great good fortune. ||1||Pause||
ਬਿੰਦ੍ਰਾਬਨ ਮਨ ਹਰਨ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਚਰਾਵਤ ਗਾਊ ਰੇ ॥
bindraaban man haran manohar krisan charaavat gaaoo re |
In Brindaaban, where Krishna grazes his cows, he entices and fascinates my mind.
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੁਹੀ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਧਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਨਾਊ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੫॥੬੬॥
jaa kaa tthaakur tuhee saaringadhar mohi kabeeraa naaoo re |2|2|15|66|
You are my Lord Master, the Archer of the Universe; my name is Kabeer. ||2||2||15||66||

ਬਿਪਲ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਹੈ ਪਹਿਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਬਨ ਮਧੇ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
bipal basatr kete hai pahire kiaa ban madhe baasaa |
Many people wear various robes, but what is the use of living in the forest?
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਆ ਨਰ ਦੇਵਾ ਧੋਖੇ ਕਿਆ ਜਲਿ ਬੋਰਿਓ ਗਿਆਤਾ ॥੧॥
kahaa bheaa nar devaa dhokhe kiaa jal borio giaataa |1|
What good does it do if a man burns incense before his gods? What good does it do to dip one's body in water? ||1||
ਜੀਅਰੇ ਜਾਹਿਗਾ ਮੈ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥
jeeare jaahigaa mai jaanaan |
O soul, I know that I will have to depart.
ਅਬਿਗਤ ਸਮਝੁ ਇਆਨਾ ॥
abigat samajh eaanaa |
You ignorant idiot: understand the Imperishable Lord.
ਜਤ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਪੇਖਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jat jat dekhau bahur na pekhau sang maaeaa lapattaanaa |1| rahaau |
Whatever you see, you will not see that again, but still, you cling to Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਬਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੀ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸਗਲੋ ਧੰਧਾ ॥
giaanee dhiaanee bahu upadesee ihu jag sagalo dhandhaa |
The spiritual teachers, meditators and the great preachers are all engrossed in these worldly affairs.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਇਆ ਜਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਧਾ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੬॥੬੭॥
keh kabeer ik raam naam bin eaa jag maaeaa andhaa |2|1|16|67|
Says Kabeer, without the Name of the One Lord, this world is blinded by Maya. ||2||1||16||67||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਛਾਡਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਚਹੁ ਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਡਾਂਡੇ ॥
man re chhaaddahu bharam pragatt hoe naachahu eaa maaeaa ke ddaandde |
O people, O victims of this Maya, abandon your doubts and dance out in the open.
ਸੂਰੁ ਕਿ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਡਰਪੈ ਸਤੀ ਕਿ ਸਾਂਚੈ ਭਾਂਡੇ ॥੧॥
soor ki sanamukh ran te ddarapai satee ki saanchai bhaandde |1|
What sort of a hero is one who is afraid to face the battle? What sort of satee is she who, when her time comes, starts collecting her pots and pans? ||1||
ਡਗਮਗ ਛਾਡਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ॥
ddagamag chhaadd re man bauraa |
Stop your wavering, O crazy people!
ਅਬ ਤਉ ਜਰੇ ਮਰੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਲੀਨੋ ਹਾਥਿ ਸੰਧਉਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ab tau jare mare sidh paaeeai leeno haath sandhauraa |1| rahaau |
Now that you have taken up the challenge of death, let yourself burn and die, and attain perfection. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਲੀਨੇ ਇਆ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਗੂਤਾ ॥
kaam krodh maaeaa ke leene eaa bidh jagat bigootaa |
The world is engrossed in sexual desire, anger and Maya; in this way it is plundered and ruined.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਨ ਛੋਡਉ ਸਗਲ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੭॥੬੮॥
keh kabeer raajaa raam na chhoddau sagal aooch te aoochaa |2|2|17|68|
Says Kabeer, do not forsake the Lord, your Sovereign King, the Highest of the High. ||2||2||17||68||

ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
furamaan teraa sirai aoopar fir na karat beechaar |
Your Command is upon my head, and I no longer question it.
ਤੁਹੀ ਦਰੀਆ ਤੁਹੀ ਕਰੀਆ ਤੁਝੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੧॥
tuhee dareea tuhee kareea tujhai te nisataar |1|
You are the river, and You are the boatman; salvation comes from You. ||1||
ਬੰਦੇ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਇਕਤੀਆਰ ॥
bande bandagee ikateeaar |
O human being, embrace the Lord's meditation,
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰੋਸੁ ਧਰਉ ਕਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saahib ros dhrau ki piaar |1| rahaau |
whether your Lord and Master is angry with you or in love with you. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਫੂਲੁ ਜਈ ਹੈ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
naam teraa aadhaar meraa jiau fool jee hai naar |
Your Name is my Support, like the flower blossoming in the water.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਗੁਲਾਮੁ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਜੀਆਇ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੧੮॥੬੯॥
keh kabeer gulaam ghar kaa jeeae bhaavai maar |2|18|69|
Says Kabeer, I am the slave of Your home; I live or die as You will. ||2||18||69||

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਨੰਦੁ ਬਹੁ ਥਾਕੋ ਰੇ ॥
lakh chauraaseeh jeea jon meh bhramat nand bahu thaako re |
Wandering through 8.4 million incarnations, Krishna's father Nand was totally exhausted.
ਭਗਤਿ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਵਤਾਰੁ ਲੀਓ ਹੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਬਡੋ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
bhagat het avataar leeo hai bhaag baddo bapuraa ko re |1|
Because of his devotion, Krishna was incarnated in his home; how great was the good fortune of this poor man! ||1||
ਤੁਮੑ ਜੁ ਕਹਤ ਹਉ ਨੰਦ ਕੋ ਨੰਦਨੁ ਨੰਦ ਸੁ ਨੰਦਨੁ ਕਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ॥
tuma ju kehat hau nand ko nandan nand su nandan kaa ko re |
You say that Krishna was Nand's son, but whose son was Nand himself?
ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਬ ਇਹੁ ਨੰਦੁ ਕਹਾ ਥੋ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dharan akaas daso dis naahee tab ihu nand kahaa tho re |1| rahaau |
When there was no earth or ether or the ten directions, where was this Nand then? ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਕਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਰੈ ਜੋਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ॥
sankatt nahee parai jon nahee aavai naam niranjan jaa ko re |
He does not fall into misfortune, and He does not take birth; His Name is the Immaculate Lord.
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਐਸੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਾਈ ਨ ਬਾਪੋ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੯॥੭੦॥
kabeer ko suaamee aiso tthaakur jaa kai maaee na baapo re |2|19|70|
Kabeer's Lord is such a Lord and Master, who has no mother or father. ||2||19||70||
